Sometimes, accidents happen. Your character has found themself in a situation where an honest accident has resulted in an item being broken. Possibly your own, or you may have broken someone else's. Was it an item at a shop, or a priceless artifact? How does your character react to the honest mistake?
Truthfully, Mina had no business being in the glass shop. She'd passed by thousands of times on her way to and from the docks, casting longing looks at the beautiful hand crafted creations inside, but knowing well enough to stay away. The owner - an older Matorian named Midge - had built a life for herself selling not only sea glass, but creations she herself designed. She'd been nice enough the few times Mina had stopped long enough to catch the older woman's attention, but something was made glaringly clear.
Mina would never be able to afford anything in that shop and she should stay away for her own sake.
Still, she'd gussied up the courage to go inside, just for a look though. It wouldn't hurt anything, would it? Just to browse.

Oly slowly walked along the shops with his brow knit in concentration. He was trying to find a gift for his parents.. but the pair had everything they needed and could easily buy anything they wanted. It made for a puzzling predicament. Oh, he could have made something, sure. However, he had been doing well saving his own money and wanted to use it to show his parents that he was doing well for himself! Buying something fancy should show that, right?
He paused in front of a shop full of glass treasures and paused. With a house always full of people, delicate items had never lasted long. Perhaps this would be fitting now that the house wasn't as busy as it used to be? They would still have to be careful when the big visits came, but something fragile would survive and be quite the accent for normal days. Surely he could find something!
He certainly hadn't expected to find a non-glass treasure there! An affectionate smile rose, and he had to stop himself from getting lost in staring. "Mina. Fancy meeting you here."

I wonder what that one's supposed to be? No matter how often she swam in their waters, the names of Matorian creatures often escaped her. Mina had been leaning in close, her hand reaching up to examine some sort of equestrian fish type thing, when a voice behind her caused the Hapuna to jerk. When she moved to stand she pulled her hand back a little too fast and the sculpture wobbled off it's base. She gave a squeal and tried to catch it, but it was too late - within a matter of seconds the piece had fallen to the floor.
And the sound of shattered glass was all too loud in that tiny, tiny shop.
For a moment Mina just stood there, looking down at the shattered sculpture in horror before turning toward the voice that had startled her. "Oly! I - uhm - oh no."

It all happened so fast! Oly winced with a mix of apology and sympathy as the delicate glass shattered on the floor. Any other time, startling her like that would have been amusing. "I... sorry. I didn't mean to.. You okay?" He stiffened up at the sound of footsteps running closer, and was already raising his hands in what he hoped was a soothing manner.
"What in the name of On'os was that?" A woman with large pink eyes came rushing around the shelves to find the source of the heart-wrenching noise. A sharp whine left her throat when she laid eyes on the broken art. More pained than anything else, she looked back and forth at the two customers. "Why? What happened?"

"I'm fine, I just-" Mina felt her heart rise up into her throat. This was bad; really, really bad. What was she supposed to say to the poor shopkee-?
Oh by the spirits, she'd been caught already?!
"I'm so, so, so sorry. It was entirely my fault. I was startled and I knocked into it." She raised her hands, almost as if she didn't quite know what to do with them, before clasping the clammy things in front of herself. "I can't, exactly pay for the damages today but I could work off the debt? If that's alright?"
This would have been embarrassing enough without Oly being right there. She couldn't bring herself to even look at him.

Practically at the same time as Mina began her explanation, Oly started on as well. "I'm sorry. I surprised my friend here and that made her bump into your art and-." He stiffened up bashfully and shuffled his feet to let Mina finish.
The shop worker's shoulders slumped further and further. "Midge really liked that one," she murmured softly in her despair. She looked up at Mina's offer and blinked a few times. "Work for it? I.. We don't really need anyone else around the shop. You'd just be sitting at the counter twiddling your thumbs for however long, and you're certainly not taking my shifts. It would be quite a while before your time would cover this anyway." She sighed and shook her head. "Maybe you have something to trade?"
"Actually, here, I can pay for it; at least in part. It's only fair since I started this." He immediately started digging into his bag for the money. A gift for his parents could wait when Mina was in such distress! "Please, allow me to help."

"Oh no, not Midge..." She had no idea who the woman was, but the thought that it was someone's favorite had Mina clutching the cloth above her heart. Her eyes turned to Oly, awkward and embarrassed, before looking back to the shopkeep as she spoke. If she couldn't work for it...A trade? What do I even have to give? She could...she would give up her armor or even her whip, if it meant paying off the debt. She just couldn't do it with anyone else around, but...if it had to be done...
"You really shouldn't..." Mina pinched her lips, torn between telling him to keep his money and...well, he had startled her. As much as she didn't want to inconvenience him it wasn't as if she had other options. "I have this-" It wasn't much, but the coin purse she pulled off her hip was at least full. "-and the rest I can pay for this evening, if you'll allow me the time to gather it."

The woman gasped softly., assuming the repeated name was familiarity "Ah so you know Midge? Perhaps she'll go a little easier on you then if you're friends. She might even let you back into the shop in the future." She gave a weak chuckle, only half serious. The owner would be less than inclined to allow clumsy folk back into her delicate shop. "Well... as much as you can pay then." She eyed Oly curiously and told him the cost.
Oly nodded calmly. "That'll be fine. I trust you to pay back whenever you're able to." He winced a little at the cost, but quickly counted out Mina's coins and then added his own to the pile to complete the payment. "There. No worries now on your end, right, ma'am?" he asked, already backing up to carefully exit the shop.
Surprised to see the full payment in her hands, the worker looked up at Oly and nodded. "Yeah. Maybe I'll even tell Midge it was bought instead of shattered to pieces." She turned her eyes to Mina with a small squint. "Just.. steer clear of the shop for now maybe, ey?"

Oh no. Should she correct her? Or maybe...maybe not. They were already in deep enough as it was so maybe...maybe just this once she could omit the truth and let it slide? Instead of responding and risk exposing herself, Mina just nodded her head with her hand above her heart.
"I'll have the rest of my payment delivered...just in case. I would hate to have a repeat." Mina gave a nervous 'ah-ha' as she made her way out the door. She very pointedly watched every move she made on the way out, Oly's included, and as if afraid to even touch the door she waited for him to close it instead.
It wasn't until she'd walked a bit away from the shop - or, rather, the large windows out front - that she lowered her head into her hands to groan.

The breath was stuck in his chest as he walked out and passed the worker an awkward smile and a nod. He didn't dare make any unnecessary moves, lest he fully join Mina on the naughty list. Once he was outside and the door was shut, he let out the pent-up breath in a rush. "Well, that was.." Oly reached for Mina's shoulder to give it a gentle squeeze. "Sorry about that. Hey, don't worry about trying to hurry paying anything back. It'll be fine."

The Hapuna lifted her head up from her hands and offered him a weak smile. "It's...it's a thing." Saying it was alright when it wasn't felt like a lie, but at least they'd managed to smooth it over? Honestly she wasn't so sure what to feel other than residual embarrassment and discomfort.
"No, no, I'll have that gold to her by the end of the evening. I'd much rather have this business settled and done with than risk a debtor at my door." The last thing she needed was any sort of guardsmen at her place. It would have been bad enough if she were just a foreigner, but all of her nightly activities...So, yeah, she needed to get this wrapped up. Soon.
"...Sorry you weren't able to finish your shopping."

Oly cocked his head slightly with a pause. Ah, that was it. "Nah, Mina, it's all set with the shop. I was able to cover the rest." He grinned encouragingly. "So if you want to pay me back, then take all the time you need. Not that you really need to pay me back, but I assume you wouldn't have it otherwise."
His wallet was certainly lighter than it had been upon entering the shop, but he just shook his head. "Well, I wasn't shopping for anything vital. I can resume it another time. What about you? Did you need something in there?"

Her entire body flushed. She knew she shouldn't be ashamed of her financial situation, especially considering she was in a new country, on her own, without steady work, but still. He was being so kind about it, so maybe...maybe she should just let it go. Or maybe she could slip him some treats here and there over the coming weeks.
"Not really. I've passed by so many times that today I thought I'd stop by and...well, I'm glad I got a good look when I did." She offered a weak smile. "I think I'm going to take a walk by the beach if you want to come with me. Let my mind settle a bit, you know?"

Perhaps he had stepped on too many toes with that gesture..? Money had never been much of a concern for him, and it sometimes took a reminder like this to freshen Oly's perspective. He would just have to let her decide how to proceed then.
The offer earned the rise of another bright smile. "That would be really nice." Nothing helped ease the nerves like listening to the water, in his humble opinion. He turned to start for the beach with his arm held out in offering.
