Sometimes, accidents happen. Your character has found themself in a situation where an honest accident has resulted in an item being broken. Possibly your own, or you may have broken someone else's. Was it an item at a shop, or a priceless artifact? How does your character react to the honest mistake?
Sienna was in deep trouble and knew it.
Even though she got taller with each passing day, she still wasn't quite tall enough to reach the top of some tables and counters on her own. So, when she'd wanted a piece of fruit from the basket in the dining area she should have grabbed a chair. In the moment it seemed like a bad idea - given how heavy they were and how hard it was to drag them - so she'd reached for her father's drum instead.
The steelpan had been placed as close to the counter as she could get it, then when Sienna went to stand atop it the slopped surface dipped, causing the child to slip before falling down atop it with an audible crunch. And now, as she sat beside the crushed remains of the thin, metallic instrument, all she could do was panic. Panic and cry.

Quielle liked to play around with the shadows, acting like she was always on some sort of mission when darting about the house, and usually she enjoyed the secrets that she discovered while lurking around the corner. Today though? Well, she had not expected to run into a crying Sienna when the sound of something breaking caught her attention. It made her excitement quickly fade, the youngling darting over to her sister to look over things.
"Are you okay? Don't cry." She reached out to pat on her sister's shoulder before glancing over at the disaster that was once their father's drum. Ooof. Yeah, she would probably have cried as well if their places were reversed...or maybe just run away and try to act innocent later on. Probably a bit of both, depending on how long she had to panic before getting caught by someone that was. Thankfully she was innocent this time and so Quielle tried to keep a calm head as she reassured her sister. "We uh...might be able to fix that?"

"I'm fine," Sienna sniffled and pitifully looked up at her sister. Her voice was so small in spite of the big emotions currently overwhelming the girl. "I didn't mean to - I thought it would be okay." Even as her lower lip quivered, that little waver in her voice meant Sienna was about two breaths away from a full cry.
The drum itself was crushed. It had been forged from thin metal, perfect for the sort of work their father did, but ultimately a poor choice in stepping stools. She could see that now - long after anything could have been done about it. At least in her eyes.
"How can we fix it? It's all mushed."

Quielle looked over Sienna, biting her bottom lip as she considered everything. There wasn't blood so hopefully Sienna was okay despite her tears. It was probably more out of concern for...well the remnants of their father's drum. "I know." She reached out to pat Sienna's shoulder some more to try to comfort her since she realized her sister usually didn't mean any harm and it probably was an accident. But how did they tell their father about it? That was the biggest issue at the moment. It wasn't as if they could just hide it, right?
Or could they? "What if...what if we try to smack the top back into place? We could maybe decorate to hide any bumps as well." She wasn't certain exactly how good of a condition a drum needed to be in for it to work properly, but maybe if it looked pretty enough to hide things the damage would be forgotten?

"Maybe?" Smacking the top back into shape might have worked, but...honestly she didn't see how. With the way the handpan was made getting it to move without separating the pieces would be hard...Still, it wasn't as if she had any ideas and it would be better than waiting around until he found out.
"Uhm...what if I just flipped it upside down? And put it back where it was? Maybe he wouldn't see it and it might sound okay?" He only played on one side at a time anyway so maybe the other wasn't as necessary? "We could put some flowers or something on it so he wouldn't notice the...buttprint."

Quielle tapped a finger on her chin as she considered the options. "Maybe covering it is just our best option." She glanced around thoughtfully before moving towards the doorway to check on any nearby activity. So far looked like everyone was still out and about so this was their best chance to sneak the drum somewhere else while they worked on it.
"Know any good secret spots where we can work on it?" She asked her sister after turning back around now that she confirmed the coast is clear. "The hallway is quiet so we can take it outside even while we find flowers or something for it." She had some of the good sticky sap tucked away as well, just in case her older sister needed it for anything. That would work on any decorations for the drum.

Now that she'd said it outloud it didn't sound right to her. There was something in the act of hiding the damage from their father that left Sienna feeling ill at ease. She'd been told never to lie - that it would always come out in the end, anyway - and wasn't this like lying? When he found out someone would get the blame and what if it wasn't her?
"Hmm? Wah?" Sienna blinked a few times and turned to her sister. She knew she should have been paying attention, but her internal panic was just too loud.
"...There's the stone nose by the footpath. No one can see the other side, but Quielle-" While the rock that was, indeed, shaped like a nose would provide cover it still wouldn't hide what she'd done. "Do you really think this will work? Maybe I should just tell him what I did. H-he'll get mad but...he won't stay mad for long, right?"

"Hmm. That could work." Quielle nodded as she thought about the spot. It was pretty quiet there and no one usually peeked in that area so that they could hide out for a bit while they worked on this new project. Though her steps paused at the suggestion of just admitting the truth, the youngling pursing her lips once more as she thought over the option. "I mean...it is up to you since your butt is the one imprinted on the drum." She replied after a moment, tilting her head slightly as she thought about how angry their father might get. If it was an accident....surely Sienna would be okay even if she got a scolding for it.
"How about this? Even if we don't decorate the drum, we can gather flowers to see if it helps with the apology for the damage." Quielle gave a small smile towards her sister. "I'll support whatever you wanna do." Even if she did prefer being sneaky and would have had more fun finding a way to hide the damage it might be best to come clean, especially if Sienna was going to feel guilty about hiding it. Quielle wondered how long she could keep the secret even if they did try to cover up the dented pieces.

"...I like that idea better." She gave a nervous little smile and bent down to pick up the drum. Thankfully even if it's size made it cumbersome to carry, it was light and Sienna had no trouble lifting it. The dent actually made it a little easier to grasp and she took no joy in admitting it.
"We can take it out and try to do what we can to fix it. Then we can pick some flowers so I can give them to him when he finds out." At least that way he would know just how truly sorry she was, and that it had been nothing more than an honest mistake. If she were one of her siblings then maybe she would have found another way around it, might have been able to push it down in her heart, but Sienna wasn't like that. It would sit in her gut like spoiled milk.

"Mkay. At least he'll know you tried to fix it." Agreed Quielle as she checked one more time before gesturing for Sienna to follow her outside. Maybe they could find some tools to fiddle with? Her gaze narrowed as she looked around, the youngling only finding a stick on the ground. Maybe there was a spot that she could wedge it inside to try to pop that dent out?
"Let's sit it there and get the flowers first. You can work on making a bouquet while I look over the drum. That okay?" Quielle wasn't an expert at making things, but maybe she could do something to make it look slightly better. Her fingers twisted around the stick, the youngling pondering the option as she studied the edges of the improvised tool.

As she walked outside the little hybrid did her best to keep an eye on her surroundings. If anyone were to see them their efforts would be stalled before they even got off the ground! The space was blessedly clear, save for the sounds of birds and creatures scurrying about the wilds, so when she set the drum down it was with a bit of relief.
Sienna took a moment to pause and calm her nerves before moving about collecting flowers. They calmed her in ways that most did not so it didn't take long for Sienna to start matching some of the wild blooms with sprigs of herbs and other decorative pieces. It was still very clearly a child's bouquet but at least it was pleasing to the eye.

While Sienna gathered flowers, Quielle moved to work with the drum. She wasn't an expert by any means but she had a determined spirit and so the youngling began working in earnest to try to find a spot where she could get the stick inside to pop out the dent. After a few minutes of twisting the stick around she gave up on the idea of trying to find a way to pop off the side of the drum, Quielle twisting the edges in her hands instead to try to coax the dent out. Eventually there was a bit of a popping sound and it looked like maybe she had somehow gotten the dent to look a little bit better. Perhaps she was just being hopeful, but Quielle stuck with that as she placed the drum back on the ground and looked back for Sienna.
"How is the bouquet coming along? I think this is the best I can do." At least her sister could probably be forgiven since she was adorable and sincere with even a bouquet for their father as an apology.

"I think I got too many." And in truth the bouquet was nearly as big as the youngling herself, but no where near the size of her guilt. Every flower picked, every sprig of green to break up the color, helped a little with her anxiety though. By the time she was able to show off her work to Quielle, Sienna at least felt like she might not cry at a moments notice. All she needed was a pretty ribbon or something to tie it all together.
"Thank you for helping. It really does look better than what it did."

"I think he'll love it." Encouraged Quielle with a smile, the youngling just happy to see that her sister didn't seem to be on the verge of tears now that she had gathered some flowers. Though she did realize that the bouquet would probably fall apart without anything to hold it together, and that much Quielle could at least solve. "Want a ribbon?" She tugged at her own hair, the braid falling down into loose waves as she held up the silver ribbon she had taken for the day. Not like it mattered, she constantly lost ribbons and had to replace them so it wasn't a big deal for her to hand one over now especially if it helped Sienna.
"Right?" Even if it wasn't completely fixed at least they had tried and Quielle could only hope that their father wouldn't be too angry about it. She gave the drum one final tap before standing and nodding towards Sienna. "I'll stick with you for support." Since she wasn't the guilty one the girl supposed she could stick around instead of hiding somewhere in the shadows for once. And surely it would all be okay, right? At least she would put on the appearance of confidence for Sienna's sake, Quielle actually hating to see her sister cry more than most things.
