It was early morning and he was all set up to go trawling. It was a fun way to fish selectively with hook and line. It was even more fun to do with family and friends. Thoraka was out, hopefully making new Matorian friends so they only one around was Zuella. He held his coat in one hand and paused on the threshold, "Zue, do you want to come fishing? the weather should hold up." He wouldn't want to invite her if it was going to be a bad trip.
He wanted fishing to continue to be a fun passtime for both her and their son. Seasickness was not a good time for anyone. Sometimes on high seas he could feel like that too. Sometimes thesea just got that rough and obstinate. But a brisk, happy breeze blew across the land, bathed in sunlight from a deep blue sky. It was absolutely stunning and he was eager to pull anchor and get his fishing underway. It was still his primary income and he still enjoyed it. He enjoyed the hard work; the sweat, the tears.

"Hmm, fishing sounds good to me." She grabbed her go bag, always full of snacks and emergency supplies, and followed happily after her mate. It would be good to spend some quality time with him out at sea. She had some spring festival stuff to do but it could wait until they were back from fishing. She liked helping her mate when he asked, he didn't ask to often either and they had been kind of busy for while.
"Where are we going?" She asked as she followed him out . He had favorite haunts and she was curious to know which fishing grounds that he wanted to head to.
"Is it by chance the reef?" The reef was one of his favorite haunts and a likely candidate for their destination to day. It was her favorite spot too. There were all sorts of colorful fish there and no small amount of big uns either.

Off to sea they went in a hurry, he was eager to get out on the waves and spend some time with her. Thoraka was more independent and they were not getting dare he say it? Alone time.
The boat took them well offshore and they arrived at the edge of a curved dropoff. One of their favorite spots for fishing. He smiled as he watched her squinting at the sun.
"Thank you for coming with me." He leaned up with a kissy face, he couldn't reach her unless she bent down.
Nothing well, besides her, made him feel as good as the sea. The waves, the sun, and the fresh air all combined for a really good time.
That was impoertant coming out of the dreary winter months, he knew he was a bit subdued until spring, fortunate that he had left Zena. Matori suited him, his wife suited him better and he could not be more proud of the son he had.
"I got something for you here." He offered her a small leather pouch full to bursting with seeds.

Curious she held her hand out for the leather pouch, surprised at the odd weight of it. Not coins but.. seeds!
"Thank you!" There was nothing she loved more than free plants. There were all kinds of seeds in there, many tomatoes and pumpkins. "Where have you been to collect all of these seeds?" It was a sizeable collection she now held in her palm. "So many different kinds!"
Her eyes watered a bit at how touching his gesture was. She had truly found the perfect match, she could just see him asking at every possible port about fancy seeds and what they were for. Each packet had a little note that was in his writing. "Awww Babe!" She danced in place and then flung herself into his arms. "You are the best!"
He was just such a magical person, she had gotten so lucky, truly she was Aisha blessed.

"I figured it would be something special. You haven't been able to get out too much lately, so I did some of the hunting for you." She was a very good gardener and finding the seeds had been the easy part growing them took time, effort and fending off of nature. "I have a few more surprises but they will take a bit longer to set up. He winked slowly at her. He had spent a good long time coming up with some romance with a special lady in his life. She deserved a good spoiling especially when she came fishing with him.
"We have been together many years now and I just want you to feel loved I fall a little more in love with you every day." The sun hung in the sky, causing sparkles to glint off the wavelengths caused by the light wind that flowed around them. He went up on his tippy toes and kissed her on lips.
"Thanks for coming."

Sassily she fanned herself at his words. Had he laid his heart bare before her always, like an offer offering to a goddess. And as usual she thanked her lucky stars for the circumstances and fate that had brought them together that first time in the Jauhan jungle.
" I will have to come up with an answering funday at some point."
She winked back perhaps their son growing up and being around home less would not be such a bad thing. as she initially had thought. She tucked the seed sack away somewhere. See she couldn't wait to get them in the ground and see what they had. Slyly she eyed him wondering what else he had up his sleeve. Sometimes it was obvious why he had been the leader of his old group, he paid attention to people their likes and dislikes and how they interact with others.

They spent the morning hand lining and by noon they had a few large fish on board. He was rather proud of that they could take what they needed, feast on sushi for at least three days, preserve some with salt and smoke it and it would be easy to sell the rest. They had a picnic lunch in in companionable silence then they were fishing and chatting once again.
" Hey, there is an island over there. What would you like to go and check it out? He was more often than not up for adventures so he was pretty sure of her answer before she gave it but it was good manners to wait for an answer. They would have to wait a little bit to go for a swim to the island but he was excited to see what the island held for them. He decided to lean into her, he had found that physical touch was turning out to be a big love language for him. That along with quality time, which they were now getting plenty more of. He wondered what the next few months would bring tomorrow was always a gift just as being with her right now with a present.

"Sure I'm always down for investigating strange islands you know that," she eyed him suspiciously.
"Is one of your fancy surprises on that island?"
She gave him some serious side eye. He was already is coming up with some surprise or another he kept her on her toes and she did her best to repay him in kind. They had a very sweet romance. She was happy to have so much extra time with him. They had both been making more an effort to be with each other not that Thoraka was much more independent.
Now they swam over to the island, both of them managing to avoid cramps. What they found was a white sand, secluded beauty. full of native creatures and some of the most beautiful plants. She was able to collect a few more seeds to add to her collection. The low slung sun found them kissing on the beach.
"If you had the choice to do something besides fishing, what would it be? Earthlings have so many choices. I'm actually kind of jealous."

" That is a good question. I suppose the easy answer would be a thief as I had always done. But if I still want to do something illegal and it was not fishing, I suppose it would be," he tapped his chin pondering "Maybe a magic class or one using an axe,maybe even a sword. I'm glad I chose fishing, plenty of drama but no real on purpose violence. against others. If you don't include the fish or bait, I don't need an enemy to do my job but I liked that." He wasn't sure what had pushed him to such a safe job. Perhaps he had never liked the feeling of being hunted by Zena guards and worrying about drama and that a part of his manufactured family might be taken. The thought of losing his new blood family made ice slide into his heart, though he's supposed to would have to give his wife some credit. She was a big, scary, capable girl when she wanted to be. He really did love that about her. Zuella was very love of his life. He could feel gravity shift toward her.

She grinned, she was pleased that no matter what weird question she asked he was always willing to think about it and give her a good answer. It such a special treat to have that within a mate. "We had better head back to the boat for dinner but I think it would have been a warlock or elementalist just shooting fireballs or something." It sounded like a lot of fun to her. They headed back out to the ship and made a quiet shipside candlelit dinner out on the deck.
" Thank you for all of this you always give me the very best." She kissed him. This led fun things later and they hadn't rest of blankies planned to sleep under the stars like they usually like to do when there was an opportunity. They cuddled and enjoyed each other's company sleeping quite late into the next morning, she stretched nicely.

He had been using her shoulder as a kind of pillow but his head had fallen off her shoulder when she stretched. "Good morning, where are the gulls and fish?"
He was a bit more confused this morning and then the night before came back to him.
"Good Morning Princess did you sleep well?" The ship rock gently in the minor breeze. He was treasuring this trip already. Maybe they would explore more instead of fishing like he had intended. It was good to be away from work for a bit and he could think of no one he would rather be on a vacation with.
"What say we ignore the rules for a bit and have an us day. What do you want to do?" He felt no great rush to get back to his job today. He just wanted to stay out here with hers. With love the sea and the promise of a bright future nothing could be better.

"Oh extended vacay! Time to crack out those cute little paper umbrellas that we found a little beach market." She grinned and got up, she was a verified morning person. She had left her mate sprawled out on the deck. "You know Kellye sometimes I just pause and think about how darn handsome you are."
This break from the great monotony of everyday life was making her very happy. She felt like a cloud over her psyche had disappeared and everything around her felt brighter and sharper. He always knew just how to make her feel better. It was a perfect day, staring them in the face. She was ready to face it and let it out full throttle. She let out an alkidike war cry to tell it so. Kellye echoed her with his best imitation from the floor. Too funny, he was just so darn cute.
They were each others favored companions though they did sometimes double date with Saeruin and her Ushiwa. At least 3 out of 4 of them had fun anyway, Ushi preferred to be in the bush but some times softened up.

Now what to do with themselves now they had so much extra time. He could think of a few things, he bet so could she.
"Well, where do you want to go?" He was not prone to spontaneity, but occasionally he let himself relax enough. He was open to hearing her opinion. Maybe it lined up with what they wanted to do. He liked hikes, long walks and cool town street food drama plays pottery sales and little cafes. He liked small, cozy Island ventures often while at sea, he daydreamed about cruising bookstores with his meat. They often shared books having mostly similar tastes. He often took copies of her favorite stone as much longer fishing tips. It felt like it was closer to her through her book. They often chatted about them after he had finished it. She had a fantastic memory and quite often they found different twists in the story. It also was a delightful wait a little himself off to sleep at night reading was therapeutic in so many ways. He found it to be very relaxing.

She grinned at him and held up an eating contest flyer; noodles, tacos and sushi were a part of the marathon.
"One of us wins in any category we both eat for free!" she loved food and travel, reviewing everything. They ate, and she loved collecting spices and flower and vegetable seeds. She liked betting on the sailboat races and entering fishing competitions with her mate.
"I am famished and it was would save us a bit on our food bill. I hope you feel like filling up," she patted her flat belly which often made eating opponents underestimate her skills. She tilted her head at him awaiting his reaction. If he could not compete well then she would uphold the family honor and do her best in the competition. She loved fun competitions like this where you competed against yourself as well as others. It was an excellent test of will and no small amount of skill.

he looked down his flat tummy and laughed.
"Yeah, I can eat."
This was a fun development that he hadn't thought of, a food eating contest, perfect. Without further ado, they were on their way to the competition. He would do his best but she was the true threat.
He could hold his own in an average crowd though. It was large enough festival that he could tell they would be working for it. They registered and took their positions, him on her left and her on the right as was this custom. Quite a few contestants were seated in a row when it was time.
" We'll start with first food type tacos." The head announcer/organizer guy called. His oldest weakness was the first round. He stood to win. As well it would pick yourself and fall within the top would move on. But they didn't want to make a bad choice either besides the judges might decide to shorten the list at any the time. They were pretty invested in the outcome. It was rumored the facility was quite generous to the winners they might get a free meat pack or leftovers. Most of all it was a fun time spent with his mate.
