Sava held onto Ein’s hand as she mentally recited the words to get them to her Wonder, and the Code hadn’t been wrong, they both arrived up on her Wonder with little strain.

Some strain, but…Sava supposed it could have been worse.

Her Wonder however…it looked as though a hurricane had blown through, there were twigs and leaves everywhere, branches. The river looked so cloudy and Sava stared around in some horror.

“I know I haven’t been here for a while but…this is a mess?”

She looked at Ein and swallowed. “Do you think this is what the Code was on about? That like…something bad was going on?”

Honestly, despite how cool Sava was acting, and how collected she was trying to seem…she had no idea where her Code piece might be…and wasn’t sure where to even start looking.

“I can only assume so…” Einhornhohle walked over to pick up a few branches and move them into a pile. “I’ve only been to one other Knights wonder, a Cosmos Knight like us, but their wonder was vastly different than my own that…” her words trailed off as if she thought better than continuing with that train of conversation.

“If your wonder wasn’t like this the last time you visited, then I can only imagine the damage done to mine.” When she took Kiringul there months ago, they had discovered an area where the ground beneath several trees had caved in. She’d thought it might have been a sink hole of sorts but upon further investigation when she had returned on her own a month or so later, it appeared that there was a tunnel beneath them that had collapsed.

She recalled from memories of a past lie that there were three gateways; one now obstructed, one by sea which she knew of from when Sava, then Cavansite, had been to her world, and the last she had yet to locate. However, with the disaster that had run through Sava’s world, Einhornhohle had to wonder if she’d even be able to access her own code piece.

She sighed, shook her head and turned her focus back to Sava; these thoughts and concerns were something best left for later.

“Don't worry, I’ll help you figure out how to to fix this later,” she placed a comforting hand on her friends shoulder. “The Code had mentioned that you needed to clear your mind to feel a pull; trust that the Code has given you the strength and focus you need to find a path.” It felt wrong to offer such advice since Ein did not particularly like no respect the Code. But for Sava’s sake, she would try to trust the process.

“If your Wonder is damaged like this, you know that I will help you clean it up, we’ll get it all fixed up, I’m sure.” There was no way that Sava would accept help from Ein without giving help in return. “I appreciate any and all help you can give. I’m honestly…just glad for the chance to spend some time with you, it’s been far too long.” There was a world of meaning in her tone, but she kept her voice as soft as she could.

As for the Code…she hummed softly once again and closed her eyes, trying to do as Ein was suggesting. When she opened her eyes again, there was a strange, faint shimmer. It was leading across the river, and she gave a soft sigh. “...I see…something, but we’re going to have to get our feet wet…I don’t know of any bridges or anything, and there’s…well. It seems like a trail, and it leads across the river…”

There were a few large stones that might be useful as stepping stones but…

Sava grimaced and stepped into the water, shivering slightly. “Oh. It’s chilly!”

But hopefully, this trail would lead them to the Code.

Times like this Ein actually kind of missed the dress she wore as a Page, it was easy enough to remove and had a cute pair of undergarments that doubled as swimwear. But with how unpredictable things were with their wonders, it wasn’t worth the risk of drying off by powering down. So, for now, Ein removed her shoes and gathered her skirts before continuing on after Sava.

“Unfortunately I can’t see anything, so you’ll need to lead the way for us.” She dipped her toes into the water and felt a sudden shiver race through her. Chilly was a bit of an understatement but Einhornhohle often preferred heated pools and long hot baths at home compared to open water.

She was such a wuss when it came to cold…

Sava looked back at Ein for a moment and laughed before hurrying across the river, the water going almost to her waist at the highest point, and when she made it to the other side, she was still laughing and shivering. “...Should we chance powering down? I mean…we’re here to fix the Code and all…and I’m sure it wouldn't want us dying of hypothermia before we get there…”

Not that she thought they would. The air was warm, even if she had goosebumps all over, and after thinking it through for a minute, she powered down and then back up again, nice and dry.

There was a fine sheen of sweat on her brow from the effort but…it had been done, and she was pleased about it. “Okay, onward to find this Code piece. Onward to fix this mess.”

Onward to hopefully fix this mess.

She held her hand out to her friend, giving a little smile. “We do this together, right? I’ll lead the way, no problem.”

“Right,” Einhornhohle took her hand “Together. Which is why I’d probably advise against one, or both, of us powering down. I don’t want to accidentally be seen as someone not a Knight and be kicked back to Destiny City and end up leaving you here alone.” That would be a bit of a disaster.

“At least it is warm weather, I think we should be able to dry off quick enough.” Although her skirts still got dipped in water in a few places where the river was at its deepest, her shoes at least remained dry. “If not, then we’ll have to borrow someone’s hot tub when we get back.” Einhornhohle winked at Sava with a playful smile. Though, it didn’t sound like a bad idea either.

“Well it went okay for me, I think you’ll be fine too, but I absolutely understand if you don’t want to.” Sava felt her cheeks warm slightly at the idea of sharing a hot tub, but she absolutely didn’t want to let Ein see that she was enjoying the idea. Still though.

“Look, I’m down for anything so long as we both get this taken care of. I think at least we’ll deserve a big breakfast…or dinner, whatever time it ends up being. I think that…”

She continued walking, following the twinkling path, and paused in her speech as a form appeared in the distance.

“I think…I’m being led here? There?”

It was too far away to really see what it was, but Sava tugged Ein forward and finally, when they got close enough, she saw that it was what looked like a stone…gazebo? It looked like a gazebo, and it looked as though it might have been beautiful at one time, there was a dome of broken stained glass, glass that was littered on the ground.

“Oh…” In the center of the structure was what looked…almost like a bird bath, but instead of a basin with water, there was a strange little pedestal with a faintly glowing orb atop it.

“...We found it.”

“That was surprisingly easy,” Einhornhohle leaned over and picked up a shard of stained glass then looked up at the skeletal structure of the stone gazebo. Her expression seemed somber as she raised the fractured piece up, squinting as if she were trying to figure out if the dome had a design to it or if it was perhaps a kaleidoscope of color.

“I’m saddened that whatever moved through here also succeeded in destroying this magnificent piece of architecture as well.” Undoubtedly, it must have been a sight to behold from afar, or even more dazzling up close, with a myriad of colors shimmering down on anyone standing beneath it.

She looked then at Sava with a softened expression, humbled by the fact that the Code on the Moon hadn’t led her friend astray and that they had managed to find what they were looking for without much difficulty. “I suppose the next step now is for you to meditate with it.”

Meditate with it. It was so much easier said than done and Sava sighed, sitting on the bench that stretched around the structure. She had to brush some glass off, but the seat wasn’t…bad. If there were some cushions up here…and it was cleaned up…fixed up? It would be a nice spot to just sit. There was a cool breeze and that absolutely helped to relax her, and finally, Sava closed her eyes and tried to…

What had the code said?

Resonate. She tried to resonate…and felt…

Pretty dumb, honestly.

The breeze felt lovely against her skin, and the cape she wore fluttered against her back, her hair fluttered against her neck. After…some amount of time, she felt as though…she were asleep. There was a warmth flowing through her, and the strange sound of far away laughter. Giggles, really.

She had a vision of the gazebo, looking fresh, shining with beauty and two figures inside, laughing and stealing kisses from one another.

Sava couldn’t make out who it was, but…the sight made her heart ache and she couldn’t help but smile. And finally, finally when the vision ended, she opened her eyes, seeing the once faintly glowing sphere now glowing brightly, the glass no longer strewn across the ground…but back up in the ceiling of the gazebo.

“Oh…I…guess that worked…”

Sava had no clear idea of how much time passed…but she had done it…and in return…

She felt good. Proud. Happy.

The fixed gazebo was absolutely a plus too.

It was perhaps a blessing that Einhornhohle had stayed near Sava when she began her resonance. One moment she was standing still as if she were meditating or in prayer, and the next her body became limp, as if all life left her but Einhornhohle quickly realized after lowering Sava to the ground carefully, that she was sleeping soundly.

“Something the code should have possibly warned us about.” She commented quietly, concern furrowing her brows at the realization Sava might have landed on glass shards had she not been there to catch her before she fell.

Einhornhohle remained mostly still, with the exception of carding slender fingers through Sava’s rainbow-colored bangs as she rested soundly with her head in Ein’s lap. She knew that Sava was not in any danger when the glass around them faded and appeared in the dome above them like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle forming a complete picture.

Then, when the code piece began to glow brightly, her friend was finally released from her meditative state and looked up with wonder and curiosity. “It seems so,” she replied in quiet amazement at seeing a part of her wonder repair itself.

“How are you feeling?” She asked, looking down at Sava with a concerned expression.

Sava looked up at Ein, her cheeks going pink at the situation. “I’m…feeling fine, didn’t even know I had moved…”

She wanted to stay, wanted to stay put and just close her eyes again but…no.

Sitting up, Sava stretched slightly and gave a sigh, her eyes roaming around the site. “...I’m glad that it worked. I didn’t expect…the glass to fix itself…but I’m absolutely not mad…”

Looking at Ein, Sava held her hand out. “Want to head back to the city and grab some food, then go up and tackle your Wonder? I’m…a little hungry. I’m not going to blame the Code but, a grilled cheese sounds…like a gift from the Cosmos right about now.”

Einhornhöhle took hold of Sava’s hand, “food sounds amazing right now.” As did a leisurely walk to stretch her legs after sitting for so long. “Although, I might need an energy drink or coffee to stay awake though unless we get a few hours of rest before attempting to access my Wonder,” she added with an apologetic grin.
