While Ronan went on a rampage, Imani found himself at a loss of what to do about his sibling’s disappearance. Whereas his friend was angrier, striking out at others often, Imani was more absent minded as he went about his daily tasks on the Misty Maiden and prone to far more mistakes than ever before. Such things did not bode well for him when he was rearrange potions and such in Fran’s supply cabinets, the hybrid having volunteered to help out in the healing ward again after having to be taken care of thanks to getting involved in Ronan’s latest brawl. Once more he was zoning out while holding onto a glass vial of herbs, the teen’s gaze drifting across the room as he simply found himself wondering if Del was at least in a ship with a healing ward like their own, when the sudden force of a wave shook the ship and caused the glass vial to slip from his fingers. “Shoot!” Imani let out a frustrated sigh as he failed to catch the vial and the pieces shattered across the freshly swept floor. In his haste, the teen also backed into another cabinet and more medicine came raining down all around him as the floor continued swaying as the Maiden righted herself on the ocean. If only he could straighten himself out like the ship did as she moved across the deep waters…instead he felt like he was drowning in his own thoughts every day as of late. The realization only made him frown, Imani almost frozen in place as he resisted the urge to give into his own frustrations. He wasn’t normally as reckless as Ronan, but the urge to hit something was once again building up in his chest as he just stared at the mess surrounding him. It was just an accident and yet the very sight made him so angry when he saw everything he had just organized being scattered like this. Why was he such a mess? His gaze burned at the very thought, the teen just staring at the mess and not noticing the approach of another.
“Are you just going to stare at it?”
The sharp words of the older Geian healer thankfully snapped him out of his haze. Imani uncurled his fists, his fingernails leaving imprints on his palms from how tense he had been as he tried to relax his shoulders before turning to face Fran. “Sorry.” He managed after a moment, accepting his mistake and not even trying to deny the fact that this mess was his fault. Accident or not, he hadn’t been paying good enough attention to the movement of the ship as they sailed. If he had then he could have stopped himself from dropping the vial and slamming into another cabinet like that. “I can try to salvage the herbs, but the vial is a loss.”
“I see that.” Fran replied, eyeing the young hybrid before letting out a sigh of her own. “I should ban you from here until you get your head straight on those shoulders again.” The healer chastised Imani before gesturing towards the broom. “As it is, you’re still doing better than the ruffian so get to it. Any more accidents though and I’ll have to find someone else in the crew to help out.” She curled her lip at the thought of Ronan, even though Imani knew the older healer was just as worried about him as well. “As for the other one. They’re tough, stop worryin’ as much and focus on yourself. Tides change all the time, I’m sure you’ll meet again.”
Imani opened his mouth before closing it again. As much as it hurt to think about, Fran did have a point. What was the point in dwelling on something if he wasn’t going to chase after them? Or should he? Either way just zoning out didn’t help with anything, it just kept allowing accidents like this to happen. Though it was one thing to tell himself to not do something and another to actually follow through with it. That much Imani realized even as he nodded towards Fran, thankful that she wasn’t going to maim him for the broken vial at least. “I’ll try my best.” He promised, not even knowing how certain he was of those words even as he started to sweep up the broken pieces. It would probably take another hour to just clean up this new mess and then he would have to go sort out more of the storage, taking out any unused medicines that were too old and making a list of what would need to be replaced in case of any ship emergencies. For the moment he would focus on that, trying his best to pay attention to the task at hand instead of letting his mind wander again.
