Shang got a short message from his cousin which got him dressed and headed out for a night of patrolling with sigh at the loss of a quiet night with his spouses, still duty called and so he headed to meet up with his cousin.
The park … it was always the park, easy, vast and very central to the city. It was the largest so that's where they were supposed to meet. He powered up, but it was well … delayed was the only way he could describe it. Something that happened so naturally for years seemed to glitch … to buffer maybe. Shang frowned, not liking the oddness of that moment and summoned his weapon only to have it melt going wonky and looked like a plastic army man that lost a battle to the microwave.
Panic, his first reaction was to panic, but that would solve nothing, so instead he frowned at the weapon, his staff essentially useless and decided to look for his cousin.
That was another thing, where was he? He should be here, but honestly it was like sonar. Maybe, he could feel people around, sort of … like blinking in and out. There and not there. He sent a message to his cousin to let him know where he was and decided waiting was best.
Whatever was going on, he was honestly pretty worried.

Tortuga had sent his cousin the message after his encounter with the senshi, it had become clear that this feeling of ‘offness’ was confined to just him. Or at the very least it hasn't affected the senshi… or at least that one particular senshi. So he sent a text from his burner asking the other redhead to test his own powers, and possibly meet up. If Shang was ok then it was just him that was messed up, if Shang also felt strange then something much, much more concerning was going on.
The burner buzzed with a message, the squire frowned slightly. It wasn’t the message itself that caused the reaction but the fact that he hadn’t felt the knight's aura arrive. It wasn’t like Tortuga was very far away, maybe a block further in, if that. Well within the range of sensing his cousin and yet he hadn’t sensed even that. If they got jumped… well Tortuga would still feel bad for the negas who would try something so stupid but still, he didn’t like this. Not at all.
The redhead quickly made his way to his cousin, not hiding his approach at all, and when he finally reached Shang the squire raised his hand in greeting. “I’m guessing you're having issues too?” No way the doc over there would have broken quarantine protocol if that wasn’t the case. Then again, it was Shang. He might have done it just to help out family. So with that in mind Tortuga held back a little ways, not wanting to possibly pass whatever was borking his magic.

Shang frowned seeing, but not feeling his cousin, or maybe he was. Honestly it was there and then it wasn’t. It was like flashes, brief and fleeting around him and hard to pinpoint. His answer to his cousin’s question was to summon his mess of a weapon and hold it out to him before banishing the thing.
“I have no idea what’s going on, but everything is wrong. Firstly, my weapon melted, it looked like trash now and secondly, where did you come from … because honestly I couldn't tell and that’s more than a little concerning.”
They were close now, so the flicker seemed more consistent now and it was certainly Tortuga, but he’d had to be right up on him, basically. “I can’t imagine with this sort of mix up that any of this is good and my mind runs in many directions, from being summoned to Maia’s chaos sickness.”
That was the last thing the need, his sister had tried to kill him, several of them and it had taken quite a few other to defeat it.

“Well that’s a new one,” Tortuga noted when Shang showed his melted staff, absently reaching up to touch the metal whistle around his neck. The next thing he knew he was showered in metal as the whistle disintegrated at the light touch. “s**t… this is really not good.” The squire dismissed his now useless weapon and couldn’t help but feel the now empty space the small thing had sat on its cord around his neck.
“I think I would rather have had your problem of my weapon melting.” He muttered even as his mind ran through everything he could think of. “So we know something’s up with the weapons, my aura radar is not working right, I’m guessing yours isn’t much better.” Tortuga started to tick off the ‘issues’ as he ran through them. “I’m locked out of my wonder. Getting a real ‘error 404 wonder not found’ vibe there. Powering up is a bit… I guess delayed is the best response there. Have you noticed anything else?” He hadn’t tried his magic yet. The redhead was honestly a bit leery to test it out. What if it didn’t work at all?

Shang frowned deeply when Tortuga’s weapon sort of just disintegrated. “Weird stuff happens all the time, the real problem is the source.” His words were mumbled half thinking, half listening. He head snapped up when he heard his cousin say he was locked out of his wonder.
“What do you mean locked out …,” he said critically.
He didn’t even listen for his cousin's answer instead trying to go to his wonder. Only for it not to work. He looked completely panicked, because if there was one thing Shang was, it was very connected to his wonder.
“Silas,” he mumbled, worried for his ancestor. He couldn't even go talk to the man about what was happening. He breathed in deeply trying to calm himself, closing his eyes and trying to make this feel less. Much less …
“I dont like this Tortuga … I mean it could be a plethora of things … but if it's affecting us both with my wonder or Pluto and yours on Jupiter … Do you think something is wrong with the code? Every wonder has a piece right … No or what about the senshi? We are sitting ducks if everything has turned on its head.”
“We should talk to others and I need to gather Vimi, Palm, Hali and Aaru. It would be best to check in with them, especially with all their wonders being in different places than ours.” He knew Hali and Palm were both on Castor, but Vimi was Venus and Aaru was Saturn. He’d go find Camelot as well, maybe the man would have some insight.

“Like that,” Tortuga said rather pointlessly when it became clear that Shang tried to travel to his wonder and wasn’t able to do so. “It might be code related or maybe planet related. I’ve never really tried to find the damn thing on my wonder so I have no clue really.” He tried to just forget the whole island didn’t exist.
“I can send out messages to the family… sans Maia that is.” Tortuga offered even as he tried to wrack his brain for anyone else, besides family, that he could reach out to. He was coming up fairly empty. So many that he had known he didn’t interact with very often, let alone getting any real contact info from. He might have snagged their names at some point but has since completely forgotten them.
He didn’t have much of a powered support group other than his family.
That was a sobering thought. One he did not like in the slightest.
“If its planet bs might be worth reaching out to Ida, or one of the other royals. Sig would be the one to see for Ida at least.” His nephew-in-law definitely had a leg up in possibly diagnosing this whole magic ******** that Shang and he did not. “That strange senshi I ran into didn’t seem to have anything wrong with her so it might not be senshi related. Then again it might have just been her.” The squire shrugged, unsure if his little tidbit would help at all.

“It's okay, I’ll explain it to them in the morning. I dont think anyone is out tonight. It is Easter weekend after all, the kids probably have everyone wiped. I don’t doubt they're all asleep, we can all meet up tomorrow night, see about things before we do some patrolling, definitely in pairs.”
“That's definitely a good idea, I’ll ask Sig tomorrow night, tonight though I'm going to go find Camelot. It's been a while since I've seen him anyway and maybe he’ll have more thoughts on the situation. If the senshi aren't affected, that's really good. Best case scenario, it's just you and me who are all wonky …,” he said, not that he believed it. One never knew though, they were blood relatives. Worst case scenario they were just kind of screwed.
“I'm going to go. Aura or not, I should be able to find him easily enough. You try to seek out a few more knights and senshi, but I wouldn't suggest either of us stay out too long without the other. We can't even use our weapons at the moment, so no magic.”
“Text me when you are heading home and I’ll let you know the same. Be careful cousin.”

With a sigh, and an absent hand running through his hair, Tortuga nodded. “Not like there is anything more we can do.” Shang had a solid plan in place. “Let me know if Camelot has the same issues because then it's not just us. I honestly wasn’t sure if whatever this s**t is,” He made an absent hand wave to himself and Shang, “wouldn’t affect the rest of the fam so I figured best to be safe and contact the doc.” He shrugged, “But if other, unrelated knights are also having the same problem then its a much, much bigger ******** up somewhere.”
He took a few steps away, ready to go see if there were any other order fighters out and about to see if they too were having issued, before pausing and responding, “Will do. Let me know what you find out.” With that the squire headed out. There were a few places he had run into other order fighters before. It could be worth checking them first before heading back to his empty apartment.
Fun.
