The rain came in waves as they crashed against the coastline for Yeal. The trees waved as the winds bellowed through their branches. The cold spray of the seas crashed and scattered across those that traversed too close to the rocks. Beowulf was one of those travelers as he followed a group towards what could be perceived as shelter. Shielding his face from the wind swept water, he looked around at the weather weary travelers around him.

”How much farther is this shelter?” Beowulf shouted against the wind. ”This storm doesn’t seem to be letting up.”

The leader of the group stopped and peered around before shouting back. ‘Shouldn’t be too much further.’ the man shouted as another gust of wind raked through the trees.

With a crash behind them as branches started to give up with fight and fall to the ground. ‘Best we keep moving, Cave up a head, we’ll take shelter there!’

Shelter at last, the group made haste towards the rocky outcropping. Once passing under the tall stone, the wind lessened and the water was shed away. Beowulf wished that he had something to help keep the water out completely, but his spells were limited. Shaking the water from his cloak and checking the safety of his book. He had been out Studying the plants in the area near the coast. Well, he was until the storm slammed into the coastline and those along it. Beowulf had seen the storm coming across the water from the mainland. He had been the one to warn the rest of the company.

”That was one fast moving storm.” Beowulf said as he looked back outside the shelter.

‘You’re telling me. Without your warning, things would have been worse.’ said one of the company.

"Indeed, Some of us might have been washed out to sea in those waves.’ said another as everyone was wringing out their cloaks and shirts.

”I am glad that I could help. Hopefully it will end soon. I would hate for all your work to be washed away.”

‘We’re not that worried about it. I don’t know how many times we have had materials washed away in one storm or another.’ Another chuckled from the other side of the cave.

Beowulf shook his head as he didn’t understand people sometimes. Was it that common to lose things to stormy waters? Still the rain poured and winds pulled at the trees trying to uproot them. As the day progressed, the storm became more violent. Trees started to topple and branches crashed to the ground in heaps. The waves smashed themselves against the coastline and rocks. Any unfortunate animals that were caught up in the surf and smashed into the stones.

Night started to encroach upon the daylight hours and the seas started to rise. Water rushed in around the large rocks of the coastline. The shelter that Beowulf and the others were huddled within, started to see water on the floor.

”Looks like the water is starting to enter the shelter.” Beowulf said as he looked towards the rest.

‘Would seem that way.’ commented the leader of the group. ‘Might be an idea to move shelters’

The man stepped towards the entrance of the cave, but he was stopped as a branch crashed off to one side. He jumped back as Beowulf joined him and peered out into the storm. Water washed over the rocks and splashed into the shelter. This wasn’t good and it was going to get worse. He had to do something before everyone was washed away or drowned.

”Everyone, find a higher purchase in the back of the cave.” Beowulf said as he looked at the rest, who stared back.

‘What are you planning lad?’ asked the leader, The man looked towards Beowulf who was just staring back at him. ‘Come on fellas, let's give the boy some space.’

As the rest of the crew moved further into the cave, finding what little higher ground there was. Beowulf nodded as he turned back to the task at hand, he couldn’t get rid of all the water, but he could do something to keep the cave dry. Taking a breath, he raised a hand to etch a rune in the air. The swirling glyph expanded before falling to the ground and the water vanished leaving the ground dry. He knew this would only last so long before he would have to recast the spell.

”That should keep the water away for a moment, unless we can do something about the entrance.” Beowulf motioned towards the low ground that would no doubtly fill again.

‘Right, let's move some of these stones. The ones that we can, leave the ones you can’t.’ the leader shouted as the rest got to work. It wasn’t long before there was a makeshift wall to block out the greater part of the storm. The group rested against the walls as they huffed and puffed. Some of the stones took some work to move, even though they had been told to leave them alone.

‘Great work, that should buy us some time from the wet. Thanks to our mage friend.’ the leader said, looking towards Beowulf.

”I am not really a mage. I;mmore of a scholar with just a little bit of magic.” Beowulf chuckled, ”What will you guys dow after the rain stops?”

‘We’ll help with the clean up and get back on track with the build. All would have been lost if you hadn’t warned us. We have you to thank for all this.’ the leader said in thanks, ‘For now we will hunker down here. So who knows some great ghost stories?’
