”Whimsical Blue”

He had known it wasn’t exactly the best idea, hell… it was practically a mantra to patrol with a partner but he hadn’t exactly been ‘patrolling’. He had been going home when something felt off and rather than face whatever gave him the heebie-jeebies as a civilian he had powered up. Thats when he really felt strange. Kind of like how you felt off when coming down with a cold but not really being sick yet. Sig hadn’t really understood what was going on. He mentally ran through a list of things; no auras nearby, nothing wrong with him physically, nothing in the air…. Relocated to make sure it wasn’t some odorless gas, nothing. He couldn’t come up with anything. His last guess was something to do with his wonder, or planet in general.

Both relatively ‘easy’ things to check. First his wonder. Sig quickly quieted his mind and soon murmured the phrase that all knights knew instinctively but rather than being whisked off into space nothing happened. Frowning slightly he tried again. And again. And again. By the fourth time he was starting to get really concerned. This hadn’t even happened the first time he was walked through this little trick!

Wondering if there was something iffy with the planet as a whole he quickly sent a message to Ida, the princess of said planet. If something was truly wrong she would be the best one to talk to.

The message that had arrived had put Ida on edge. She'd felt something weird the last while and hadn't really been able to put her finger on it... but now, it seemed to have affected other people too.

While she would have come no matter why Sigirya had called for her, his message put speed into her step to cross the city to where he waited. The corner store he waited on top of was familiar to her, though she didn't often come out this way. When she landed, she was quick to send her senses outwards, looking for any threats. Still that weirdness... she could barely feel Sigirya at first, but that faded, slowly.

"Hey!" Ida called as she lifted an arm to wave, crossing the rooftop to join the page. "Everything okay? Your message worried me."

He looked okay, at least. He wasn't injured or hiding from the Negaverse. Small blessings, that.

Whimsical Blue

Sig startled a bit when Ida appeared, before instantly looking contrite. “Sorry, I guess my message was a bit vague… um… something is wrong. I don’t know what it is, or what is causing it. But, I can’t get to my wonder and there are a few other general ‘hair raising on the back of my neck’ issues.” He couldn’t really explain it well. Just that something was wrong. Very wrong.

“I was on the way home when I felt that powering up was the best option but even that was a bit hichup-y, as if the car wouldn’t turn over on the first try.” He tried to explain the feeling he had experienced. “I didn’t sense anything and nothing seemed wrong so I figured I would check my wonder but I quite literally couldn’t go. I tried a few times but nothing worked. So that's why I reached out to you, I figured if something was wrong on Ida you would know.” He pauses a moment before adding, “Uh, also, if it helps… I didn’t really sense you approaching. The whole aura was static-y and wasn’t something I had ever sensed before. It wasn’t until you were here that I really picked it up with any clearance.” The page began to pace as much as the rooftop would allow him, “If it's not you or the planet then it's me. What did I do to mess this whole thing up? Could I cause others to have the same issue? Does this mean I can’t go home?” If what he was experiencing was some kind of magical cold or something he wouldn’t dare go see Dessie. He would not put her at risk.

He really hoped that wouldn’t be the case though. “Do you know what's going on?” The young man practically begged his princess to reassure him that everything was fine, all was well, and he hadn’t done anything wrong. Even if Sig was pretty sure that something was truly off kilter.

While Sig's words alarmed her, Ida kept that alarm out of her face, drawing on years of practice to remain clam in what was potentially a very stressful situation. He couldn't reach Ida? She'd never not been able to reach her asteroid. It set off all sorts of worries about monsters and chaos infesting her world again, destroying all the good work she'd done to bring it back to life.

"I felt a little something not long ago... my magic fluctuating, being hard to power up and whatnot... but faded quickly. I wasn't sure what it was and I kept an eye on it, but it never repeated. It sounds like it hasn't gone away for you though? I think your instinct about going to see the asteroid is a good one. I went a couple of days ago, but if something is changed, I want to know about it." Ida said. She called her phone into her hand and offered him the other one, her mind still sorting through all the things that could be wrong, that they might face when they arrived.

"Be prepared, just in case we teleport into something nasty. Ida has been invaded by chaos more than once, between the Blight and whatever took up residence in the orchid room in my tower. It would not be beyond imagination for it to happen again... If something is going on up there, we need to deal with it quickly."

She paused then, breaking out in a small smile. "At least this time, I don't have to face it alone, hmm? I'm glad that Ida has more people to protect it now. Ready?"

Whimsical Blue

Honestly Ida’s words had Sig’s concern go right through the roof. He had been worried, even somewhat concerned, but the very thought that he might be strolling into a nasty fight had him breakout in a cold sweat. At least that's what he felt. Over the last months he had been training diligently. Learning to fight and protect himself, as well as others. But that didn’t mean he was prepared for an all out fight, the few that he had been in were either a mass of people where he was lost in the crowd of people or a one on one where he got his a** handed to him. Not exactly a stellar track record. And yet he needed to know. Besides Ida knew her homeworld better then anyone else. If she didn’t know why he couldn’t reach his wonder no one else would.

“As ready as I can be,” He informed her as he took her hand. Sig was already running through possible scenarios and doing his best to psych himself up for whatever they might encounter in space. He just really hoped he wasn’t about to step right into the line of fire by doing so.

Ida closed her eyes as she wrapped her hand around Sigiriya's, focusing herself inwards on the connection between herself and her asteroid. That glowing tether seemed as steady as ever... energy flowing to her from it in a stream of warmth. Or she felt like it did.

Please... take us close to Sigiriya's wonder. She thought, willing that desire into her planet connection as she hit the button on her phone to teleport her. She'd never really tried that before... even if she knew that she could somewhat control where she landed on Ida. It never felt precise... but it did often feel like the asteroid took her where she needed to be. She could hope it would do so again this time.

The world blurred and shifted around them as they traveled, clearing finally to a familiar view of grasses and tall trees. Ida blinked at the soft sunshine and glanced about, not seeing her tower this time or any of the other places she was well acquainted with. But, they were on Ida, that much she was sure of. She could feel how the energy inside of her balanced out the moment she set foot here, and the ever present warmth that seemed to come up out of the group through her boots and into her body.

"Well, we're here." She said as she frowned at the peaceful view. "Everything looks okay.. but I'm not quite sure where we are. Anything look familiar to you?"

Whimsical Blue

Sig blinked rapidly in the light of Ida, his stomach still tilting and twisting a bit from the trip to space. A reaction he was slowly getting used to each time he took a trip ‘out of this world’, literally. “Um,” He hesitated as his brain processed the peaceful scenery. It was different from the one he had seen the first time Ida had brought him to her asteroid. And it definitely wasn’t what he was bracing for when Ida had warned of possible danger. No. It was all calm and serene.

“I’ve honestly only ever seen the top of the trees so this is definitely not an angle I recognize.” His gaze drifted over the trees while he tried to mentally visualize the view from the edge of his wonder. Was there a break in the ‘sea’ of green? Could the clearing they were currently standing in be noticed from way up on the plateau of his wonder? He was still coming up fairly empty, the only thing he had to go off of was an imperceptible 'pull' in a certain direction. "I don't know but I feel like if we go in that direction-" He trailed off even as he pointed into the tree line slightly off to the right of where they were facing. "It can't be far.”

“Right?"

Frowning in thought, Ida searched the trees about them for some low branches. It didn't look like these particular trees were buildings like the ones near her tower, so climbing stairs wasn't an option... so they'd just have to do it the old fashioned way.

"Come on. Lets get some height and see if we can spot it." She said as she headed for one of the nearest trees. Despite not being hollowed out for people to use, it was still massive, souring high into the sky. On the flip side, its wild nature also meant it hadn't been pruned as rigorously, and the branches started a lot lower than they would have otherwise been. Still a height, but for them in their powered form? No problem. "A tall plateau should be visible, I'd think."

She got a running start as she approaching and leaped upwards, reaching for the lowest branch. When her hands closed around it, she hauled herself upwards, thankful for her senshi strength, and climbed onto it. Pausing, she glanced down for Sigiriya and gave him a thumbs up before she jumped again, making her way upwards towards the leafy canopy above. Breaking through, she balanced herself carefully on the thin branch she'd reached and blinked at the sunlight, squinting out into the gentle summer weather of Ida to search for any towering shape that might possibly be a wonder.

Whimsical Blue

Sig followed his princess, hesitating for only a moment before repeating her moves but with his own tree, steadily climbing up it until his head poked through the green canopy. He was surprised. It was just as beautiful here at the top of the trees as it was on the ground. After a moment lost in thought the page remembered why they were currently high, very high, in the treetops… to find his wonder. It took less time then he realized. “There!” His voice rang out as he pointed towards a jut of rock and a barely visible cluster of buildings. He gasped as the tree moved from his sudden shift in weight, with a muttered curse he returned his pointing hand to gripping the tree. It really was quite spindly this high up.

Even without his guiding hand he knew exactly where his wonder was now. It really was quite fascinating watching it ‘float’ above the carpet of green trees like a boat or an island. The shimmer of heat obscuring details and making it harder to actually determine how many buildings there were on his little ‘island’. After a moment Sig frowned… heat? No. Nooooo…. It was pleasantly warm out, not hot enough to have a heat shimmer. Besides, that was definitely more defined than any heat distortion on earth. “Ida? What is that? Are you seeing it too?” The page wasn’t about to remove his grip on the tree so he only nodded in the direction of his wonder. Maybe she knew what it could be, it was her home world after all.

Ida turned to see what Sigiriya had caught sight of, squinting against the light in the direction he pointed.

That was definitely something she'd call a mesa, but... the strange sort of shimmer was not something Ida had any frame of reference for. The asteroid wasn't that warm... certainly not hot enough for heat shimmer. So what was that? Media on Earth probably would have called it a force-field, and that was something that did pop into Ida's mind. There was so much magic in their worlds and powers... was that a magic barrier? Was it barrier at all? Was it some sort of hold over from when the wonder had been hidden from her? Ida knew that no one not invited could find or enter a wonder, or there were many, many Earth wonders that would have been discovered by now... so it would make sense the same rules applied here.

"That's not some part of your wonder?" She called back, clinging to the thin top of her tree. "You've never seen it before? I mean... maybe that's why the magic has been weird? If there is some sort of barrier keeping you out, then it would make sense why you couldn't teleport there."

What did that mean though? Why was there a barrier? It would make sense to keep others out, by why was the knight being kept out of his own wonder? Was it some sort of attack? Ida knew very well that her asteroid was not safe from chaos invasion. The Blight and whatever that monster plant had been proved that well enough. Had something invaded and taken root in the wonder, blocking everyone else out?

"Do you want to take a closer look?" Ida said as she began to maneuver herself downwards, heading for the ground.

Whimsical Blue
Fade to black? or one more Ida post?

“I,” He trailed off as he stared at the barrier before shaking his head. “I don’t know. I’ve never really noticed but I guess that doesn’t mean that it wasn’t there before.” He glanced over at Ida and hoped that she was right. If there was a barrier then that had to be the reason he couldn’t teleport there himself. Maybe.

There was no real way to tell, not from this distance at least. “Sure, let's go.” He followed her, finding descending the tree a lot easier if a bit more nerve wracking. Once on the ground he oriented himself in the direction of his wonder and started off.

Was it possible that the barrier was protecting his wonder from whatever was affecting him? Or containing it? Either way didn’t bode well. But at least they were doing something to figure it all out. Sig just hoped it wouldn’t take too long. Whatever it was.
