His next night out, his antler still felt brittle and strange, everything felt a little off and he couldn't put his finger on it. He blamed being so far out of the game still, but there was nothing he could do about that short of repeating these outings, learning, and growing and finding out whatever it meant to be a 'Page' of earth. Whatever the oath meant beyond words.

He took a deep breath and let it out on a count of four. He could do this, it would be fine.
There was a strange feeling in the air again tonight, it felt... darker than the previous encounter, the sort of feeling that crept over the skin.

"Hello?" He called cautiously.

"Who's there."

Arawn could feel the aura of an enemy close by. He snarled from the darkness, and took a prowling step out of the shadows to first look his enemy over, and then look around as if trying to find someone or something else.

Where is he?” he growled, voice dangerous and demanding, like a dog that had been backed into a corner.

Where is Laon? What did you do with him?”

His head hurt. Throbbed painfully. He was already feeling dizzy and disoriented but --

Laon wasn’t with him. Something must have happened. Why would he be out there on his own? It didn’t seem right.

He couldn’t remember--

Arawn snarled again, impatient and agitated and frustrated by his own shortcomings.

“Death portent!” he hissed, aiming his magic at the knight.

Quote:
Super Sailor Scout Attack: Death Portent
When opponents are within fifteen feet of Arawn, they will see the illusion of orange eyes peering out through the darkness at them and hear the loud growling of canines. As the eyes draw closer, the growling becomes softer. The illusion invokes and greatly increases fear and horror. This could involve the magic causing shortness of breath, rapid heartbeat, sweating, dizziness, or similar effects of a panic attack left up to the player, with the potential for lasting effects. Arawn’s opponents will believe that death is coming for them. The illusion causes the target’s mind to perceive the environment as ominous and Arawn as dark and foreboding, or even as a feral canine of death or monster himself. This will last for thirty five seconds and has two uses.

"W-What?" He stammered out "Who's Laon?" He managed to ask before the breath caught in his throat, the gutteral snarls of hounds, glowing eyes drawing closer. A cold sweat clotted his brow and he stumbled a step backwards away from the gutteral growling and the glowing eyes.

Dizzying panic had his breath clotting in his throat. "W...Wait, waitwaitwait..." He said putting his hands up as though he could ward off the incoming portent of death which seemed to have been called upon.

“Don’t pretend like you don’t know!” Arawn growled, using the cover of his magic to rush the knight and deliver a kick to wherever on his body he could land.

His head throbbed again and he hissed in pain as he staggered backwards.

Something was wrong. Where was Laon? Why would he be out there without him? Something must have happened. It was the only thing that made sense. And he couldn’t shake those thoughts.

“You know exactly who Laon is. You want to destroy all of us, don’t you? Just because we do things differently than you. Just because we’ve embraced what Chaos has given us--”

Was he even making any sense? He couldn’t tell. He just wanted to shake the guy until he gave him Laon back, but the world around him was spinning.

The kick made him stumble, coughing out a breath of air and leaving him wheezing as he gasped to try and recapture the precious breath that had been knocked out of him.
"I don't...I don't know Laon! I've just..." He wanted to defend himself, but he wasn't sure how, not verbally, instead he lashed out half blind with his poor antler, desperate and hoping that it wouldn't immediately shatter on impact.

"Stop it! Leave me be!"

Arawn wasn’t paying attention to the knight lashing out. He was too busy trying to keep everything from spinning. He didn’t know what was wrong with him, but he felt like there was something settling into him, breaking apart.

He didn’t move out of the way when the antler came striking down at him. He could feel the bone shatter against his cheek, could feel the hot white pain as it sliced through skin.

He was no stranger to pain. But he couldn’t help but imagine what Laon might have already suffered--

What if he couldn’t get to him? What if he was scared and alone?

Arawn didn’t move from the spot where he was struck. Instead he lifted his hand to touch his face, staring at the blood on his fingers when he pulled them back.

“I’ll give you one more chance,” he growled, rubbing his fingers together to dry the blood on them. “What did you do with him?”
