“Easy does it.” Ziya leaned forward as he inspected the paw on the angry parak, the little creature chittering and probably telling him exactly what he could do with that hand which dared to touch it. Still, the creature had no real choice since it was backed into a wooden box in a stall that barely had enough room for Talisia who was tucking herself in the corner as she watched over Ziya as he worked. “He-hey!” He let out a huff as the parak tried to n** at him, the creature’s fluffed tail already causing enough issues as he tried to avoid accidentally poking it with the wooden tweezers.

Talisia tried to suppress her laughter as she watched Ziya fight with the feisty creature. “Are you sure you don’t need help? Flit can be very opinionated.” The little gray parak had gotten into brambles and had a bunch of thorns stuck in his pads, the very things that Ziya was trying to remove for the familiar who kept telling him off as he poked around with the tweezers.

Ziya made a face, refusing to twist around to protest towards Talisia as he knew any movements could send the parak skittering through the stall again. They had already tried this in a wider space without the wooden crate, but Flit was true to his name as he flitted about the place after an initial attempt with the tweezers. To think that Talisia made this look so easy the other day when she was actually stitching up another small animal that had been injured! He would just get the hell beast, wouldn’t he? Lil djevel. He thought with a frown as he kept still and took a breath to calm his own movements despite the multiple scratches around his wrist. “I can handle Flit and give him plenty of my own opinions.” Ziya finally commented, still focusing on the parak and refusing to let the creature out of his sight as he moved forward with the tweezers once more.

“Okay.” Talisia leaned against the wall, crossing her arms with amusement as she allowed Ziya the chance to prove himself. She had already injured his pride by having to call Flit back into the stall when he escaped earlier, the beastmaster more familiar with the parak and his antics. He was one of those that they had to keep at the sanctuary since his owner had given him up, the parak never having a chance to even know what it was like to be wild since he was traded by merchants as a kit. It didn’t keep him from running around the fields though, getting into the berry bushes and into this thorny mess once more.

“If I learn the ways of the parak do I move onto larger animals? Though I don’t think any of the large animals we dealt with had half the energy as this.” Joked Ziya as he finally managed to get a grip on the bramble that was sticking out of the parak’s paw. “Tiki is a lot cuter than you, ya know.” He taunted the parak as it chittered at him, the hybrid twisting and tugging carefully until the bramble slipped from the skin. “Got it.”

“Good job.” Talisia reached into her satchel and pulled out some ointment. “Is it really jagged or a clean cut?” She asked, staying back to allow Ziya enough sunlight from the upper loft to see the injury without her getting in the way. If it was jagged enough then they might want to do some healing sap or stitches along the injuries, anything that was clean though could probably fuse together well enough on its own with time. It wasn’t like that injured raptrix they had brought in a few nights prior, Talisia working with Ziya to calm it down before stitching up the whole back leg. She was still keeping an eye on it, hoping the wound healed without them needing to amputate the leg. Only time would tell, but so far she was optimistic.

“Let me check.” Ziya frowned thoughtfully as he dared to pull Flit’s paw a bit closer, the hybrid keeping a wary eye on the parak for any surprise attacks before looking closely at the wound. “Looks fairly clean. Maybe some sap just because it was a big bramble and then I can bandage it up.” Those crystal thorns truly were no joke, no wonder those in the Ild’vann kept their children from playing with them. Ziya could easily imagine someone thinking it would be a fun thing to stage a fight then actually stab someone else with it, potentially causing an infection from the cut or actually taking out an eye. They already had one hunter without a left eye and that was plenty enough, thank you.

Talisia nodded as she pulled out a vial of sap and put the ointment away. That would wait until after the sap hardened and they removed it in a couple of days when the wound was naturally stitching back together. “Take this then, I trust your judgment.” She advised as she handed the vial to Ziya. “I have some bandages as well, you’ll have to keep Flit still so that you can tie them properly.” And then they would have to give a little scarf to the parak, keeping him from being able to bite at his paw to remove the bandages.

“Easier said than done. Did this thing have some coffee or something? I need to learn how to be just as energetic.” Ziya joked even as he struggled to keep the parak in place long enough to apply the sap properly. It would probably get…yep, there it was. Ziya let out a soft sigh as the parak kicked and the sap slipped from the vial onto his arm. There was enough left to get it on the pad but he would definitely need to wash up after this. He just hoped it didn’t stick to him and rip off any skin. Still, he managed to get the sap on the wound and drop the vial in time for Talisia to hand him the bandages.

“Just tie the bandages right there. He won’t be able to bite when we put this around his neck.” Talisia advised, watching over Ziya now that she had moved closer. As he tied the bandages together, tucking the stray strands into the wrapping that went across the parak’s lower leg, Talisia took out the scarf that was stuffed full of cotton to make it more like a pillow that would wrap around the creature's neck. He would be very pissed about it, but he would be cute with the little patchwork pattern that she had sewn into the material. “Shh, Flit. If you learned to stop going into those thorn bushes then we wouldn’t have this problem.” She chastised the parak, the amber gaze lowering almost like he did feel the guilt from getting in trouble in the first place. It wasn’t just his paw that was in pain, after all, as Talisia and Ziya had already taken care of some other scratches along his flank where he had tumbled into the mess in the first place along the outer fields. Now he would be stuck in the manor with them until he healed so that Talisia could keep an eye on the little parak, as much as he hated being stuck inside.

Ziya couldn’t help the laugh that escaped him at the sight of the fluffed up parak with his scarf necklace. “You look like an adorable menace.” He advised, settling back so that Talisia could pick up the crate and the parak nestled inside while he picked up the tools they had used. Once those were gathered into a leather case, Ziya went out of the stall towards a wash basin where he splashed fresh water across his arms to try to rinse off the fur and sap.

“There’s some soap, it’ll get the sap off.” Advised Talisia as she nodded towards the right where the little bar of soap was safely tucked away. Thankfully none of the animals usually stayed in the stables to the left of the estate, Talisia using it to tend to the injured animals that came into the sanctuary. So that meant she could keep some supplies out without worrying over something trying to snack or play with them. The other stable across from them housed the recovering patients, the raptrix from the other day safely recovering in a large stall inside where it was quiet. They would be checking on him later in the afternoon once they settled Flit back into the house.

“Thanks.” Ziya scrubbed at his arms with the bar of soap and let out a soft sigh of relief as the sap fell away. Thankfully it hadn’t gotten the chance to harden, that was when it would rip off like hot wax that had dried. Once he finished rinsing the tools, the hybrid picked up the bucket so that he could dump it outside now that they were done in here. “Are you sure that’s enough to keep Flit from misbehaving?” He asked Talisia as they walked up the path and entered through the kitchen, the rear entrance close to the back fields.

“It is.” Reassured Talisia as she opened the door and kept going past the kitchen into the main room where she had piled some cushions for the mischievous parak to nest in. “He’ll just hide in here with the pillow stopping him from biting at injuries.” It would keep him from licking at the open wounds along his flank that were also covered in healing ointments. Not that the ointments were poisonous, but they did taste foul and worked best on his wounds and not in his mouth.

“Hear that? No biting.” Teased Ziya towards the parak who just glowered at him as Talisia carefully placed the crate down on the pile of pillows. He would crawl out eventually and settle, but for now he was just going to stay in the crate since it felt the safest after being man handled by Ziya. “Sheesh. I think I would rather stitch up some injuries again. Flit is vicious.” He commented lightly as he followed Talisia back towards the kitchen to give the parak his space.
