It was getting closer. Purification night, or whatever they were going to call it when the time came. Assuming they called it anything special.……
But Haruhi’s last day at the post office was on the schedule, coming up very soon, and when that night came, Reiki had his plans all lined up. He’d need to talk to Asher before they did anything, to let him know that Kyoya and Kiyoshi would just be Haruhi and Reiki. An awkward idea, since Asher didn’t know anything about the magical girl stuff in town, Reiki felt pretty certain……but he hated the idea of running out on Asher almost as much as he’d hated the idea of denying Faustite the chance to decide for himself how he felt by not telling him ahead of time.
Patrolling felt overbearingly, impossibly weird right now, almost as much as the freak snow that had decided to fall on Ramsett Park tonight. As he skulked through the trees and the playground equipment, feeling around for auras or any trouble that might have warranted an intervention, Reiki could feel his nerves vibrating with……excitement? Anxiety? Some secret, third thing? All of the above but also none of them? Hard for Reiki to say, exactly, when he felt so many things about all of this and right now—for a while, actually, as it had gotten closer and closer to the big night—they’d mostly melded together into a strange, tangled up thrum so he could at least pretend to function as a person out in society.
Glancing around as little piles of the frozen white stuff accumulated on the ground, Reiki wondered if his whole Thing might finally resolve, once he and Mirrorspace broke up for real. When he powered up, would he still feel like Reiki—or, well, Kiyoshi, anyway, since he’d gotten Ojiisan’s blessing to take on the name—or would he finally get to feel the way that everybody else, regardless of their faction, seemed to feel when powered up? Would he finally feel like Murikabushi and not a last-minute, fifth-string understudy who hadn’t gotten any rehearsal time because he was never supposed to stand before anyone in some other queen’s beautiful geish, trying desperately and against all hope pass himself off as the real Murikabushi?
It was only the feeling of a Negaverse aura nearby that succeeded in pulling Reiki out of his head. As the awareness of it crashed into his senses, Reiki gasped softly.…… More powerful than his own aura, probably; General or Eternal senshi. Faustite? Albite? Probably not on either count, and honestly, he probably shouldn’t have looked forward to seeing either of them. Reiki had no idea what Faustite had or hadn’t passed on to his team.……
Well, at the very least, Reiki supposed that he needed to at least check out whoever it was. Moving carefully, he followed the aura to where it got stronger. Hopefully, whoever was on the other side wouldn’t be doing anything that Reiki would need to fight them over. He’d do it if necessary, but making a mess for the rest of the Court while he was on his way out just felt rude, and like it undermined his claims to not have beef with any of them as people (or at least none where him not getting along with them personally meant that he wanted to see them harmed).

"Dark Mirror..." Zinkenite called into the evening. "Good evening. I mean no trouble for you if that's a comfort." He glanced towards the general feeling of the approaching Aura. "My name is Zinkenite, if we haven't met before that is." He greeted, fingers wrapped around a steaming cup of hot spiced Chai. Truth be told he was indulging himself a little on his return. Old habits, old familiar spaces. He hadn't quite shaken off the vague sensation of lonelyness, not yet. There were too many people he hadn't seen yet, and those he had...well. He still ached where Camelot had driven home the hilt of his weapon. Still seethed about that particular reunion.

……Well. That wasn’t the sort of greeting Reiki was used to from anybody. It gave him pause, but only for a moment. Hearing someone address him as Dark Mirror took him more by surprise—but Reiki brushed it aside and moved away from the patch of trees, into the light where someone could get a clearer view of him. Better, for one thing, not to keep the General(? probably?) waiting, since they’d picked up on Reiki’s presence.
For another thing, he could hardly fault someone he’d never met before for not knowing about plans that Reiki hadn’t even told to some of his closest friends.
Getting closer to the General—yes, definitely a General; his chest was covered but he didn’t have a Nega-senshi’s tell-tale crack in his forehead—Reiki paused to take in the sight of him. “Y’know, I still haven’t found out who or what the universe’s great ineffable fashion designers are,” he said as straightforwardly as commenting on a sudden turn in the weather or the plain, simple, undeniable fact that one of Nariko’s competitors had performed her step-sequence with all the passion and heart of ChatGPT, “but whoever does all these outfits? They always get you Negaverse officers’ looks correct.”
Maybe some Negaverse officers disagreed with him. Faustite was distinctly less than fond of his mismatched-height heels, yes, and that made sense when he was the one who had to walk in them……but aesthetically, by his own standards? Reiki couldn’t think of any non-senshi officer he’d encountered who hadn’t had their look on-point.
“I’m Murikabushi,” he added, coming closer still. “And I’m pretty sure we haven’t met before. I’d remember that jacket for sure. Very sharp. Very dramatic—which I mean in a good way.”
He would’ve paired the long-coat with a tiny skirt and thigh-highs for himself, but that was just Reiki, and it wasn’t as though Zinkenite got to have a choice in his uniform more than anybody else did.

The comments about his clothing made Zinkenite laugh inspite of himself. "Well, thank you." He said startled. "You should have seen my Lieutenant Uniform, whomever is in charge of uniforms, got more tasteful as I grew, though I think they also enjoy adding layers." he quipped, wondering what this... Murikabushi would think of his full soverign uniform. "Muri-kabushi..." He sounded out the name carefully. "No I can't say we've met before, but I'll admit I've been busy for some time, out of the city. "Well, I'm pleased to meet you, it's good to see a face that isn't trying to kill me." He paused and glanced over Murikabushi's uniform and nodded approvingly. "The Dark Mirror does a fine job in its uniforms as well, hopefully as comfortable and functional as well?"
