There was a strange aura in the air, and Mechelen was waffling on if she was going to go towards it or just…nope out and be done with her quick patrol for the night. It was her responsibility to make sure that the city was safe...or safe enough, so with a heavy sigh, she made her way towards the aura, keeping her tapestry in her hand, ready to use her magic if she needed to.
…The feeling wasn’t a good one so…she thought that she would need to…which. Ugh.
Mechelen wished that Halle or Almere were here, but they weren’t, so…here she was. Dealing with whoever or whatever was here alone.
“Hey! I’m not sure who or what you are, but you absolutely feel…awful, so…that means that you’re an enemy.”
She pointed at the dark clad girl, and even if she really liked how cute that outfit was…
Dark clothes were…bad...so…
“I’m not going to let you just…”
Just what? Exist?
…Was she in the wrong here? Oh well.

“I’m sorry, Miss.” Hekate canted her head to the side curiously, her wraith hovering about ten feet away hidden within the shadows in its incorporeal form as she had just powered up and hadn’t started collecting energy quite yet. “I didn’t quite catch that… You’re not going to let me just what?”
Did the knight not even know what she was?
To be fair though, the woman’s uniform was a bit unusual, something befitting a spring faire, maybe, but still belonging to a Knight. The symbol repeated on her dress was unfamiliar, not that it mattered since she was most definitely not well-versed in recognizing any that didn’t belong to the Greek planet symbol chart she had seen on some horoscope website several years ago.

Mechelen wrinkled her nose and shook her head, holding the tapestry out, as though it were actually an impressive weapon…she knew that it wasn’t but…this person didn’t.
“You’re clearly in violation of…something. You’re chaos and that automatically makes you an enemy, so I’m not going to just let you…do whatever…it is that…you’re doing?”
Truly, Mechelen hadn’t meant to make it a question. Truly it was not a question, but for some reason, she felt like she was on super shaky ground with this one.
“Are you up to no good? Stealing energy? Kicking puppies? Because I’m absolutely licensed to stop you if you are.”

When the Squire began fishing for reasons to start a fight, Hekete opened her mouth to protest but abruptly snapped it shut when the accusation of ‘kicking puppies’ left the young woman’s mouth.
“I actually take offense to that.” she leveled a humorless stare in her direction. “I happen to love puppies, thank you,” at times more than people because friends and family will never be as happy to see her as much as a well-loved dog. Which was perhaps one of the main reasons she got her degree as a Veterinarian.
“As for the other two things you mentioned,” Hekate waved a hand dismissively at the Squire. “I have done nothing, yet…” A small smile tugged the corner of her lips as her gaze flicked over to where the wraith hovered in the shadows. “However you might have Jinx-ed yourself.” She then extended her right arm as a three-inch-wide, wispy purple trail snaked its way from Hekate’s palm towards her soon-to-be victim.
Sailor Scout Attack: Name - Jinx. Execution - Hekate extends her right arm, holds her hand up, and says the name of her attack. A three-inch-wide, whispy, purple trail (Think the Evil Queen's Curse from Once Upon a Time in appearance, but to a much smaller scale.) snakes its way from Hekate's palm to her victim, absorbed through the nose, ears, and mouth. Effect - The affected party will experience effects of bad luck in terms of battle, including less effective attacks and difficulty accurately attacking targets.(In the event of a dice battle, results are halved then rounded up to the nearest integer) Use Limits - This attack may be used three times per battle and affects one person. Power Limits - The effects of this attack last for twenty-five seconds. Weaknesses - Her attack moves at a casual walking speed and can follow a target up to 8 feet away. After 8' of distance it dissipates.

“Well if you’re not doing it, then there’s–” Mechelen began, and then broke off when the chaos woman used magic on her. Seriously? So she really was the villain here, after all. Mechelen…didn’t like that. It almost…well. It almost made her unhappy, like she had been hoping that the woman would exonerate herself and they could part without any fuss but…
She stiffened when the magic seemed to go inside of her, and braced herself for…well. Whatever was going to happen.
“...I would ask what that was for, but clearly, you’re everything I was afraid you were.”
Thankfully there was no pain…and she wasn’t seeing anything strange…and she hadn’t fallen down dead…
Yet.
“...What did you do to me?”

Hekate held a finger to her lips, “It’s a secret.” She replied with a knowing grin. In that moment, the wraith, previously hidden in the shadows, drifted towards the Squire.
“However,” she paused for dramatics and to take a step forward. “If you still feel inclined to interfere with my evening, I welcome the attempt.” Hekate then bowed almost mockingly as she presented the challenge.
The wraith was incorporeal, starved of energy, but menacing looking enough to appear dangerous even though Hekate was aware that the creature would offer no aid in a fight. But in a situation that appeared to be two against one, she’d hoped the other woman would leave them be instead.

A secret…? Mechelen didn’t like the sound of that. But…she didn’t think that Senshi magic lasted forever…so…hopefully...in theory…if she were to just leave…
The Squire’s eyes narrowed as…something creepy came towards her. It looked…honestly it looked like some kind of ghost? And really…she really didn’t want to figure out what it was.
“Look. Look! You’re really proving my point here by being the bad guy. I’m stronger than you are, so what say we just call this a draw, and you turn around, and I turn around…and we pretend like none of this ever happened and go on our merry ways.”
The panic was being kept from her voice by a slight twinge. Mechelen really didn’t like any of this, and truly didn’t like the creepy ghost creature one bit.

The wraith moved slowly, lingering just along the edge of the Squire’s peripheral like a predator stalking its prey; except, it was likely more of a lazy loitering than anything so nefarious. Nonetheless, Hekate was more than happy to play it off as if the creature was actually dangerous.
“There’s no doubt in my mind you are stronger than I am, Miss?” She paused a moment, letting the unsaid question linger before directly stating “Now that I think about it, I don’t think I caught your name.”
“Anyway,” Hekate lifted her hands in a motion of surrender and shrugged her shoulders. “I’m happy to leave things as they are and go our separate ways.” With her hand, she motioned for the wraith to leave the young woman be and rejoin her as she retreated toward the shadows where it had been hiding.

Mechelen took a step backwards, eyes narrowing. “There’s no need for my name. Or yours. Keep your secrets, and keep this thing away from me.”
She didn’t want to let on that she was uncomfortable. And truly didn’t want to let on that she was afraid...but she was.
When the thing was gone, Mechelen relaxed just slightly, but instead of saying anything else, she simply turned on her heel and began walking away. Clearly the woman’s magic didn’t do any harm...so she wasn’t really worried about it coming at her again…and since the strange creature was gone…
That was that.
But next time…next time Mechelen would just…use the powers she was given to take care of things before she got the rug pulled out from under her feet.
This was a good lesson learned.

“Oh well,” Hekate couldn’t help but chuckle a bit to herself as the Squire turned on her heel.
A part of her truly hoped that she'd have tripped on a rock, or rolled her ankle randomly. But it had seemed that her magic had already worn off, or she was just so lucky that the Jinx spell had no effect.
“S’pose we should get going,” Her hand twitched at her side from the urge to pat the wraith on the back but knew it’d just pass through the translucent creature. It looked at her with a blank stare, emotionless and uncaring. “Would it hurt for you to smile, just once… maybe?” she asked and was again greeted with silence.
Hekate let out a dramatic sigh, “Lets get this night overwith.”
