The occurrences that continued to happen on his planet, indicating that something was happening—something beyond his knowledge. Something he was afraid to handle. But... He knew of someone who could help, even more so than the other two he'd invited to his planet before.

Princess Ida. She would know what to do. He liked her, she was sweet and very smart and had helped her own planet with its strangeness.

He waited, perfectly still, perfectly quiet, just like a hunter. He felt like he'd need to be one, to hunt down whatever was causing problems on his planet and CRUSH IT CRUSH IT LIKE THE WAY HIS VERY SOUL HAD BEEN A THOUSAND YEARS ALONE AND NOW—

He bit his lip hard enough to bleed.

Ida had gotten the message, and so she'd come to meet Fang here, stepping out of the shadows of the park into the lamp light.

"Fang?" She called, scanning for him. She could feel his energy signature... he was close. She hadn't been sure, exactly, what he'd wanted or what he intended for her to do, but there was no way she wasn't going to come when he asked for her help. Fang was a precious person all on his own, but he'd already been through so much before he'd ever come to Earth. She knew from Selinur some of things he'd gone through, and if what Fang had been through was anything like that... Her heart ached to think about it.

Gathering herself, Ida followed the eternal aura searching the edges of the park for her friend.

Fang perked up when he felt Ida's eternal signature and couldn't prevent himself from yipping a soft greeting from low in his throat—a sound he hadn't made in years. Not since his Chrysocyon family had all perished. He blushed bright red immediately, but simply cleared his throat.

"Here, Ida!" he said verbally. Chasing away the evil thoughts. His friend was here. He could do it. He wasn't alone.

He beamed as she came closer, eyes scrunching shut from the force of his smile.

Ah, there... Ida heard the yip that sounded a bit like a dog, followed by a familiar voice. The sound was surprising, but also not, considering the ears and tail Fang had. Who was to say his people didn't make noises like that regularly?

His huge smile when he saw her brought a warmth to Ida's chest, like she'd swallowed a balloon of sunshine, and she couldn't help grinning back as she came forward to throw her arms around his shoulders and hug him. That felt nice... she didn't get to do that nearly as often as she would have liked. Ida was still smiling when she released him, squeezing his shoulders in her hands.

"I'm glad to see you." She said as she looked him over, wondering at how tired he looked. "Is everything ok? You said you needed help."

Fang's tail sped up at the warm embrace. He hugged her back, rubbing his face into her hair and now making a low, grumbling sort of noise deep in his chest.

"Yes," he confirmed, squaring his shoulders as she squeezed them and feeling much better in her presence. "Friend Ida come with Fang, to Fang? Home feel... unsafe. More than before. The bad-scary-dark getting worse. Need to look. Found tracks, see strange things."

His words were sobering and Ida's smile fell away as she listened to him, brows knitted thoughtfully.

"Yes, of course. If there is anything I can do, I want to help. I've heard that the world's of senshi like you and Selinur are not good... " She mused, teeth nibbling her lower lip. "Maybe we can find some way to help it. Or maybe at least figure out what is going on."

She nodded decisively as she let go and offered her hand instead.

"I'm ready whenever you are. We'll be careful, and see what we can find."

Fang grasped her hand with enthusiasm and determination. He was glad she wanted to help. The more he did this... the more he realized he had more people in his life that loved him than he had ever really thought he had before.

He liked Earth. A lot.

But as he remembered his mother's warm hugs, and his other mother's warm tongue, he knew what he was truly fighting for.

Nothing could bring them back, he knew, but his planet—Fang—was still his home. With a deep breath, he took Ida to his home.

The strange darkness enveloped them—and if Fang had had the experience of a total solar eclipse, he would have called it that kind of darkness.

"Stay quiet," he warned. "Don't know what listens."

The change from street-light dark to total dark was off putting, when Ida was so used to arriving to sunlight. Not that she hadn't arrived to night on a planet before... but this felt different. Strange and unsettling.

She squeezed Fang's hand when he whispered, in case he couldn't see her nod back. Her markings gave off a soft glow, but it did little to light their surroundings with its low radiance.

She had so many questions... but perhaps those would have to wait until they were somewhere safer. Reaching into her subspace pocket, Ida pulled out a small flashlight. She clicked it on and turned to offer it to Fang. He was the one leading, after all... probably best if he had it.

Fang perked up at the flashlight—letting out a little rrrruff of thanks, before clearing his throat.

"Thank, Ida," he whispered as he took it. He could see fairly okay as it was, but it couldn't hurt to have more light to see with. Slowly, he moved them towards the old village. It was away from where the tracks led, but maybe they'd get some answers from the settlement he'd thought of his secondary home for a while.

He froze when they emerged from the trees to the next clearing—the buildings here had all been... shredded. It looked like a torndado had ripped through here, the way the buildings were collapsed and the wood splintered apart.

Why was the light from the flashlight bouncing around so much? Weren't his hands still?

The silence, and the darkness, were unsettling and oppressive, lifting the fine hairs along the back of Ida's neck and sending goosebumps down her arms.

For all that she knew she could hit something hard enough to crack stone and out pace a car in her powered form... this place put her on edge, like there was something out there, waiting and watching them. Something that would hurt them, if it could. Maybe it was her imagination, but maybe not... Reaching out, she put her hand on Fang's where he held the light, trying to push down her unease before the tension got high enough to send her into a panic. She was supposed to be helping... getting scared would not help.

"Was it always like this?" She murmured softly, blinking at the damage all around them. "I mean, since you came to Earth?"

Considering how much everyone's worlds had gone through over the past thousand years, it wasn't a surprise to find some place in ruins. But there was something about the tension in Fang's arm under her fingers that said this wasn't usual for him. Something about all of this was wrong, and with the way she felt, it was very wrong.

Fang's shaking reduced down to slight tremors as Ida placed her hand on his, body calming down. He wasn't alone. Never again would he be alone. He had to remember that, to hold onto that thought so deeply that it stuck to his very soul.

"Fang been like this since Fang little boy," he said softly as they trudged towards the old village. "Since Todd watch Fangan-mother die. Sun go dark. World go cold. Little Fang find small Chrysocyon family to stay with, for many year... then everyone slowly die anyway. Fang should... be used to this. But..."

He shivered. "Something different about the dark and quiet when Fang know scary monsters lurk. Nobody attacked for thousand years, not near Fang, not near Fang's little village. But now... Fang see. New tracks. Air... smell different."

She nodded slowly as she listened, considering what he was saying.

Every out-planet senshi was different, and yet the same... their worlds dying around them while they lived on, chaos infesting their world. And then, not long ago, a shift that had started to bring them to Earth, freeing them from the prisons their worlds had become under the pall of chaos.

"Maybe... whatever brought you to Earth woke something up..." Ida whispered, feeling like somewhere out there, something watched them. She couldn't have said what, not on a strange planet full of strange chaos. But that chaos always seemed to have some sort of source and she wouldn't be surprised to find that source watching them even now. After a thousand years with nothing but a dead planet to feed on... it had to be starving, whatever it was.

"Do you want to look around?" She didn't particularly want to, but they had come here for answers and just.... staring around from the spot where they arrived wasn't going to get them any.

Fang considered the question, then nodded, not wanting to think of the implications of the first thing she'd said.

"Look, see, find. Know what we deal with," he said quietly, hoping his voice did not shake in the way his hands did. He kept moving forward.

The flashlight beam fell upon the old village, and he brightened for a moment as memories flooded his brain, and then he realized what, exactly, he was looking at.

Destroyed buildings. The entire small village in this clearing, smashed to smithereens.

The flashlight fell from his hands, following his knees to the ground.

She let him lead the way, following the light that the flashlight cast before them. Dried, dead grasses gave way to stone and wood, from meadow to man-made structures. Ida gazed about with fascination, and only realized Fang had stopped when she heard him hit the ground.

Alarmed, the senshi dropped to her knees beside him, reaching out to put her hands on his shoulders and give them a squeeze.

"What is it? Are you okay?" She glance at the empty, staring buildings and had to push down the growing unease. This place felt... inimical. Like it didn't want them there. It was both achingly empty and overflowing with a haunting feeling. It was more than just a place where people used to live... there was something more to it than just that. Obviously, it was something special to Fang and Ida could only guess at what this place had meant to him. Somewhere he had used to live? A place full of people he had known and cared about? How long had it been since he'd seen this place?

"My friends," he said, staring at the buildings. "They dead, long time, yes, but their houses... Houses built last long time. Houses still good, last time Fang saw. But it been... long time."

He shuddered, leaning into Ida, drawing strength from her presence. She, too, was his friend. An alive one. He needed that.

"....Fang miss them," he said, voice raw and whispery.
