As Enya padded around the wilds outside of Zinris there was a spring to her step that betrayed the unrest in her heart. Things between her and Vetra were rough at best, but that wouldn’t stop her from soaking in all that Zinris had to offer. This was the land of her mothers – of her Aunts – and even if she wasn’t going to stay long she wanted to observe it to the fullest! So, when she heard an odd noise coming from the West she chose to follow it, even if her greater instincts said to go away. It was clearly some sort of creature – if the grunting was anything to go by – and she was hoping it would be interesting enough to write home about.

Soon, Zivah and her family would be leaving Zinris. The decision would have infuriated her only a few months ago, but after her heart to heart with Imri (and her own conflicted feelings over their mothers' overheard conversation), she was almost thankful for it. Upset, sure, but not angry. The news had spread around the Elaria settlement, and girls who had once pretended to tolerate her presence were quick to give her a cold shoulder. After all, she was leaving - not just on a pilgrimage, but to experience the earthling side of herself, and what was more traitorous than that?

So, she took to the wilds. It wasn't usually her MO, but she felt if she could get into Imri's mindset and want to leave - maybe it would be easier. Instead, she found herself frozen in place, ducked low amidst the swirling mist, staring wide-eyed at the silhouette of something in the distance. Something definitely not friendly.

Despite the lowered posture Enya exhibited, there was no real way to hide her form in the mists. Her skin blended easily enough, but against the darker stones it was horribly visible, much like the color of her eyes and the hue of her dreads. So, the Elidae made sure to keep her trident close, even if curiosity propelled her further. When she was close enough to hear the thing made a snorting sound she ducked lower, keen on hiding behind a stone and –

“Well, hello there.”

It was so small. Just a little thing, waddling around on four stout legs and rooting around in the dirt for snacks. It’s snout was horribly long, with little teeth poking around the edges and it was almost laughable. “Were all those sounds coming out of you?” Enya lowered her guard enough to smile and edge her way closer. It was just too cute.

From here, the shape looks massive - but when another shape moved beside it, one that was notably Elaria shaped, Zivah relaxed. Ah- it was just a trick of the eyes - the light and the mist coming together to look like a massive shadow. She sighed out and stood, stalking forward, a hand on one sheathed sword... just in case.

When she saw the Sister, though, she was surprised (and a bit delighted) to realize it wasn't an Elaria, or someone she knew... but an Elidae. And, she thought, a familiar of hers. "You should be careful. In this mist, I thought you might be an enemy." Zivah said, a bit sharply, but with relief in her voice.

Enya was so wrapped up in the stocky little creature to pay attention to much else so when a voice spoke up behind her she jumped, giving out a little squeal which caused the creature to cry out as well. It was just an Elaria….Wait, no, that wasn’t right, she was too small for that and her skin…“Goddess preserve me, you’re quiet.” A hand fluttered up to her chest and for a moment she focused on getting her heart to calm down.

If only the same could be said for her little friend. It’s initial startled cry was now followed by a series of smaller, more garbled mewling-esque noises – like it was crying out for something. “Oh shhh, shhh, it’s okay. You’re fine.”

The 'duh' look on her face spoke for itself. They were both Aishan, literally crafted in the image of their goddess to be the perfect huntresses, of course they were supposed to be quiet. She was tempted to open her mouth to scold the Elidae, but somehow resisted. Or... more likely, didn't quite have the energy for it.

Instead, she turned her head to look down at the young limbara, scowling. "Can't you shut your familiar up? If it keeps wailing it'll bring a bigger one along!"

“My familiar?” It took Enya too long to register the hybrid meant the squalling little rock creature and when it hit she made a little ‘o’. “OH, no, this isn’t mine. I was just out for a walk when I heard these loud, grunting noises and when I came around the corner I saw it.” She reached out to pat it, hoping to calm the little thing down, but it only cried louder. It even tried to snap at her! “Hey! Stop that!” And then, something clicked in her mind. “Wait…what do you mean by a bigger one? This isn’t full grown?”

The more the girl talked, the bigger Zivah's eyes went. Then, Enya tried to pet the limbara - and Zivah stifled a dismayed noise in her throat, and instead reached to grab the girl's arm, tugging her bodily away from the crying baby. "We are going to turn and walk. Briskly. Away." She hissed.

It might be too little too late, however - because a deep, guttural noise erupted from yards away, so deep that it felt like her bones were rattling. "Or run!" She shrieked, shoving the girl forward roughly.

Enya didn’t really understand how big the problem was until she felt herself being tugged away. Her initial instinct was to pull away, but something in that tone made her go along with it. Her eyes, though, never left the little crying thing until that bellowing sound came back. That was what she’d heard – or a ‘calmer’ version, anyway – and it wasn’t coming from the small one!

“What is that?!”
With a practiced hand, Enya slipped her trident back into the holster on her back and ran for all she was worth. She couldn’t see the creature making the noise, but it sounded pissed and – wait – was it getting closer?!

This was just her luck! She was going to die, gored by a mother limbara, in the weeks before leaving Zinris! She let out a bark of laughter, sword sheaths clattering against her hips as she ran, somehow managing to keep up with the longer strides of the taller girl. "A mama limbara. And we scared her baby!" She called back, mind reeling. They probably had better endurance than a limbara in the long run, but she could outpace them easily and tear them apart with her tusks unless -

"Tree! Or - or a crevice."

A limbara?! You halfwit! She’d seen DOZENS of Limbara in Zinris – her own grandmother had one! – so why hadn’t she thought that that was one of their young?! Probably because it was so cute and stubby compared to those massive, hulking, frightening

Just thinking about what was coming up behind them made Enya run all the harder. She may not have been much of a fighter, but she was an excellent swimmer and that gave her loads of stamina!

“Tree or crevice- tree or crevice – tree or – CREVICE!” Without warning Enya reached out for the hybrids arm and pulled her close. There was a small crack in a large formation of crystals – just big enough for them – and since it was Enya that started it she made sure that the other girl got in first before Enya squeezed in after her. The trident was a hard sell but it was either leave it behind – making a trail for their scent – or if it in too.

Goddessgoddessgoddessgoddess-- oh sh--!!

Zivah yelped when she was grabbed up against the bigger Aishan, brain only barely catching up with what the other girl planned. She tucked herself as small as possible, but still hissed as crystal scraped painfully at her back as they squeezed into the crack. She shimmied as far backwards as she could to give the other girl room, which was a good thing.

She felt, rather than saw, the limbara pass their hiding place, fooled by the mist and blinded by rage. Even so, Zivah was torn between the urge to hold her breath, and to drag in sharp gasps to refill her lungs.

Only when a few heart pounding moments passed that she jabbed a finger against the other girl's ribs, "Why would you make friends with a strange creature?! Do you have NO self preservation!?"

Enya tucked herself as far back into the space as she possibly could without squishing the smaller Aishan to death. Her arms scraped against the crystal, pressing into her skin, but she didn’t dare move, especially when the rumbling of heavy feet made the cavern around them quake. The Elidae’s body, angled as it was, was barely able to look back to the opening and when she caught a glimpse of the limbara passing by her heart stopped. Goddess it was massive; bigger even than any she’d seen in Zinris. If they’d been caught by that thing…

“I thought it was cute!” She pouted, and even though she’d felt it run off Enya was still too scared to raise her voice. So, her indignant statement was more of a breathless squeak. “I couldn’t help it.”

Zivah grumbled in reply, and let them lapse into silence... apart from their attempts to catch their breath. The adrenaline leaked out of her, and left her limbs like rubber, and despite how uncomfortable it was with crystals jabbing into her kidneys and the other girl mostly squished into her, she felt it was all that was keeping her upright for the time being.

Eventually, she lifted her head again. "I'm Zivah. Who're you? I wanna know who to thank for sharing her hiding spot with me." It was grudging, but distantly Zivah knew that even if this girl hadn't scared the baby, both of them had been at risk of running into the Limbara on their own. That they were able to escape together was lucky.

Once the adrenaline started to slip out of her blood all Enya felt was the aching of her muscles and the uncomfortable pull of her trident. The angle it was in caused her limbs to twist to accommodate it and if she’d had the time to properly unclasp it before the crevice or – you know – just leave it that way – she might have been able to avoid the pinch in her shoulders.

“I’m Enya, and it’s as much your space as it is mine. If you hadn’t reminded me to look for something I would have kept running.” And gotten gored, most likely. Twisted her torso, she pulled herself as far down as she could to try and back out of the space, just the way she’d come, only to pull up short. “So…my tridents stuck. Help?”
