Tonight would be different, at least in part, now that he had gone for a few runs with Alexandre and had learned more of the city. It still felt disorganized to him with how crowded the buildings were and it would take even longer to not feel a bit closed in by it all.

With Katya on his shoulder, he went on his patrol and drained a few people as he went through the alleyways. Keeping an ear out for anyone passing by had become more of a habit now after the last problem had come up. Draining them, even more, to make sure the people wouldn't jolt up and knock him down again had also become something he started doing after the last encounter.

"I think I feel a few of them Katya, nothing too close I think though right?"
Kafka still struggled a bit with figuring that out even though he was going out more often. It would come in time they would tell him but it didn't make him feel any safer.

"Most of them are further off, one is closer than I like but they can't sense us." None of those signatures she felt could pick up on them, and that gave Kafka a level of safety few had. He could learn, and gather energy, under the cover of safety which she provided for him. He was doing better though, slowly as it went, he was ginaing confidence and going out jmore often with her.

It would only be a matter of time before he had a level of comfort that she felt good about, where she wasn't worried about covering his signature, but that wouldn't be for a long while unless something drastic happened. He was still learning the city, something which took time, but at least he was gathering more energy and leaving the people unconsious so there was no chance of them rousing and attacking either of them in retaliation. It was a babystep and one she was proud of.

"If they get closer I'll let you know. We should be fine for now."

"Okay, I'm glad you can tell those things. I'm still figuring it all out, everything still feels... how do you say it... unstable?" It probably was because of everything else on top of being new to this but he'd been working with what he had and luckily that included Katya and, if needed, Chalcanthite.

Weaving through another few back alleys, he continued the slow work of draining people here and there. Touching someone who had decided to take a drunken nap on one of the service entrances to a business, he noticed a few more auras but again they didn't feel like they were that close. "I think this one had a few too many, a few cheap too many." It was a bit gross, almost enough that he wished he'd had something to wash his hands with after he finished draining them. What he wasn't ready for was them to slump forward and fall against the fire escape later. It was a loud noise, one that had him jolting back and looking around. "s**t, I didn't think that would happen."

So again he moved down a few more alleys, trying to make some distance between himself and the downed man who would wake up with more than just a terrible hangover.

The Deep Space Senshi of Haunting was getting more comfortable patrolling on her own. Whether Sinistra was or not, of course, was another question: she was very protective, and she was often stressed when she did not know what Wezen was up to. It was a fair enough concern, as even Wezen could not predict how she might react in any one circumstance, and of course she had no powers that helped her see the future.

This planet was dangerous, but that was sort of the point of her going out on patrol, anyway. She was using the training she was being given to help the people of the planet not get consumed by Chaos. While helping people, or even other aliens, was not expressly her goal, sometimes it was a result of her efforts to stop Chaos from spreading its influence.

She was not human, and had no feelings toward their individual lives one way or another. There were a couple good ones that she would likely have an emotion she did not recognize about them dying or being hurt, but even then, they were all in the same service as she was, and understood the risks. Some even better than she did.

She was surprised when she stepped into an alley and spotted someone dressed in a similar way to many other Chaos operatives that she had seen in this city. Strangely, however, she could not sense the normal aura that radiated off of them, the one that told her where to walk when she wanted to pick a fight.

But their paths crossed, anyway, which meant she was inclined to intercept them. Them, she noted, included what looked to be a small, furry animal. That one was similar in shape to the very round one Camelot kept with him, though she could not recall what he had told her they were called. She had no realized they, too, were capable of being corrupted by Chaos.

She had followed a loud noise, but gave up on that in favor of this new lead.

"What are you doing?" she asked blandly, lacking accusation or interest in her tone. Her thoughts were entirely masked, as per usual, her expression nearly blank.

"We'll get you stable, give it time, and the more you are out the more you'll get used to picking up the signatures of others and guessing distance." Figuring power levels was by far easier than figuring distance. Power was easy, it wasn't so much a sliding scale as distance was, but everything came with time really. These were after all senses that were new for him, as they were everyone when they first joined this war, and some time to get used to them was needed.

Soft laughter from her as Kafka spoke about someones poor choice of drink to drown themselves in. "We can't all have such good taste in drink, nor the money to afford such drink." She spoke softly, nosing his cheek with her head. He didn't even buy the wine he drank, at least not when he was over her generals home. Alexandre had a small collection of wine, whites and reds, which he never drank himself but always had for guests or cooking. Rene got his pick of those bottles, and she knew Alexandre had offered to let him purchase a few bottles to add to the small collection.

Jumping at the loud sound the body of the unconsious man made, she was not prepared for it, Katya kept a hold on his uniform via her claws - something Benitoite at times called her murder mittens.

Turning at the feeling, and then the voice, Katya stared at the senshi for a moment before whispering for Kafka to hhear. "I don't think we can run fast enough if this one wants to fight. They are on par with you though...I can have my tablet at the ready - if you want." At least if this turned into a fight it would be somewhat fair, or at least more fair than if he were to fight a super senshi anyway. To the new senshi the mauvian spoke. "We are out for a walk, there are alleyways to explore and we wish to see as many as wel can." Not a lie, not really, but not the truth entirely either.

Kafka was so very glad for the layer of fluff on his uniform as Katya clawed him to stay on his shoulders. It was a good enough buffer that he didn't get pricked much by her and avoided making any extra noise.

Hearing and feeling the senshi, he nodded to Katya and waved a bit toward them while flashing a smile. They didn't look like they were about to attack him right out as that other alien senshi had, so that was nice. It meant that Katya's help could give him just a slight bit of extra time to figure things out if whoever happened upon them wasn't raring to go."Yes, just a night out wandering. Sometimes I'm a bit clumsy and bump into things while roaming. What brings you out this evening."

He was going to try and handle this if he could and avoid calling for backup. There was plenty around to pull down behind him if he needed to run and worst case, if he had to, he could get to the rooftops. It wasn't ideal but he'd have to bite that bullet and take that path if others were blocked off. There were a few places he could go and power down, as long as he got out of sight of them he could just disappear and head home.

While Wezen could certainly relate with wanting to see and learn all the strange roads and dead ends this city had, it seemed almost an impossible task. Beyond that, she doubted someone that was a resident of this planet had the same confusions about its layout. She had never needed to learn paths or maps, as her world had her existing in a set place for an endless amount of time. She was never meant to roam or learn, or do any of the things she could do here.

When it was consumed by Chaos, nothing was lost. But this planet? This had become her home. Her first home. She refused to let it suffer the same fate.

"You are Chaos. Why can I not feel your aura?" She spoke plainly enough, shifting topics when the answers she was receiving held no meaning to her. She only wanted information she really needed to know, and she was absolutely certain she was being lied to in that moment. Sinistra always told her lying was a bad habit, and that though her honesty was sometimes a little TOO much, it was still preferable to making things up.

If they felt inclined to do that, it meant they were hiding something they did not want her to know. Something that would likely get her to attack them, to stop them. So, in a way, she already had her answers.

Or at least that worked for her.

"You have left injured humans behind you. You are not simply wandering. I will stop you here." She raised her fists, colorful eyes blazing as she ran through the battle stances she had been shown. As of that moment, she did not seem to settle on any of them, instead just loosely holding her fists up, shoulders and elbows only slightly tense.

"As we are wandering, and learning to lay out of the city, I am keeping his aura hidden so we might remain safe this evening. This city is new to us and we need to learn it's lay out safely, you understand I'm sure." Normally the truth, when it could be seen as a weakness, was not something Katya would offer up. However, in this case it very well might help them both so she was willing to give over the information. If they thought she was new as well it was fine, she was when compared to her General, and she didn't know everywhere in this city as it was rather large. She might have been in this city for years but she even got lost from time to time still, she didn't need to tell the order senshi that, but she knew what she was doing and hoping Kafka would understand. She kept her claws curled into the fluff of his uniform, so she couldn't be thrown from him.

"He is my charge and I am keeping him safe -as is my duty as a mauvian."

Letting Katya talk, he watched the senshi take up a fighting pose. They didn't look like they were just going to jump right in yet which was great but he held his hands up a bit passively.

"The sound came from one who was already drunk, I didn't hurt them they were just too drunk to keep sitting up on the bench they were on. We're just looking around more than anything. I'm not from here, not exactly at least so I keep getting lost. You see my home is laid out a lot... well better? Not all these dead ends and twists and turns."

Shifting between his feet, he wondered if luck would be on his side if he decided to try using his magic. He didn't want to get close enough to let them punch him but maybe he might pull one of the books in his subspace to throw at them and distract them if needed.

"But yes as she said, she's the one keeping us hidden." He didn't really know how it worked but it'd saved him a few times so far and he wasn't really intending to go out on his own without her along for that fact.

Sailor Scout Attack: Hologram Ghost
Wezen holds up her hands and summons the spectral image of a small ghost. It is unique to each enemy, often inspired by their fears or memories. It screams and lunges at the target, directly at their face. When it connects it passes through its target and dissolves, leaving behind a white hot pain where it made contact for a few seconds. The feeling lingers as the pain fades, a sensation of not being alone in ones own body, of being haunted, and a crawling of the skin taking up the rest of the spells duration.

Wezen stood and listened, expression completely unreadable as she let them explain themselves. Sinistra always told her to let her foes explain themselves, and Camelot promoted peace over a brawl every single time. Only Carlisle and Painite told her to fight and do so with gusto, but she found it difficult to listen to anything the latter said.

Though she had teamed with Camelot and was under his protection, Wezen did not trust her simply because she had chaos inside her. She stank of it, and it seeped into the world around her, as Chaos always did. Every single agent existed to spread it, regardless of their ideals, thoughts, or manners.

It was why Wezen only went through the motions, but end result was always the same. She eyed the cat, the Mauvian, like Hadaya, but felt not better about it. It was clearly also Chaos, and thus a contributing factor in the destruction of this beautiful planet.

She heard their story, committed it to her memory, then lifted her hands.

"Hologram Ghost."

It was like talking to a wall and then all of a sudden they moved and a ghostly form moved towards him. It sent ice through his veins and he pulled his hands up to shield his face as it came at him. It was that screaming woman, the one he'd left at the altar when he fled. Everything felt wrong and at this point, he felt like the risk of his magic backfiring didn't seem as bad compared to how he was feeling now.

With his hands already near his face he figured he might as well try and then see if he could get out of here and away. Gritting his teeth he went through the motions and spoke just that one simple word.

"Swallow."

That same feeling, that uncomfortable feeling of being stretched too thin and snapped back came but to be honest it wasn't as bad as the creeping haunted feeling that accompanied the ice in his veins. At least this time he was still upright so that was some progress towards figuring this all out. He just hoped it wouldn't backfire on Katya as well since she was still on him.

Sailor Scout Attack: Swallow.

Kafka says the name of his attack and pulls his hands towards his mouth before throwing them outwards. Those who are in the area of effect feel a slight drain on their body as if their resources are being used up. This may take the form of shortness of breath, fatigue, hunger, or even a slight fuzziness of vision though it is up to the player. After the magic fades there may or may not be a tiny bit of the effect lingering but it is up to the player and would be barely noticeable at this stage.

She had tried talking, tried to explain things, in the hopes it would work with this senshi. They had wanted to know, at least it seemed that way, and than they were using their magic anyway! Jumping from Kafka's shoulders she was already moving to avoid the magic just incase it would hit her as well, she had no idea what this senshi's magic could do.

It was Kafka's magic which responded to the attack, something she almost didn't expect from him, but as she stood there watching what was transpiring the mauvian felt herself finding it hard to breath...to draw in a full breath. She didn't panic, though perhaps she should have, but she was certain it was his magic and it would pass - magic always passed. Focused on keeping herself calm, on not over doing it, Katya tried to slow her breathing and take more breaths to try and counter the fact that each breath was nmot a full breath - she couldn't manage it.

I'm assuming the magic works on one person at a time - one target at a time. Wasn't sure though.

Wezen was used to her magic by now, but something suddenly felt amiss. She was tired, moreso than one casting normally left her, and she felt strangely lightheaded. It caused her to wobble, just a little, but enough to distract her as she lifted her hand to her forehead in an effort to center herself.

They must have used an attack on her, but because she was focusing on her own magic and keeping an eye on the cat just in case, she actually missed it when it was cast.

Unfortunately, her magic was good for creating openings or allowing her to escape, but if she did not get a chance to capitalize on it, it was largely useless. She was now not certain if she could even try it again, though she had never used it twice on the same person before. She was not even sure if it would work.

Weakened or not, she charged at him, pulling her fist back like Painite and Carlisle taught her, and throwing it forward at him with as much power as she could muster. Considering her magic and his draining her, though, it was likely no where near as strong or fast as it could have been.

"Merde..."

He'd hoped it would have done more to them but more than that Katya didn't look too good. Pulling his arm up he took the blow as he tried to get over to scoop Katya up. It didn't hurt too much, at least not more than what he'd dealt with during concerts or at the bar but that was probably because his magic had done at least something useful this time.

He felt sluggish but thinking about the path they'd taken he darted down an alley as best as he could. "Are you okay?" Whispering to the mauvian in his arms as he ran, he didn't really dare look back as he kept taking turns here and there to try and lose them. He just hoped that even if Katya was struggling she was still able to keep them both hidden as he ran.

Digging her claws into the fur of kafka's uniform the mauvian held on, letting the other hold her while she held onto him as best she could. "I'll be fine." She answered, because she would be, she knew it was just magic and it would pass. "Just keep us from that senshi. I had hoped that words might work on them." But that had failed, as was obvious.

"Your magic worked though - it really did." Even if it had attacked her as well, she didn't care so much about that, it had taken enough energy from the senshi that they couldn't do much. "If we had stayed, if she'd been close enough, I would have bitten her." Or perhaps put her claws to good use. She did not like that the senshi had struck Rene, and she knew Alexandre would not be pleased either.
