Taarum tripped through the door, taking a second to catch his balance before looking up with a proud little smirk. He was normally a careful, quiet boy, but today being either of those things seemed impossible. "Mama! You won't believe what I did. It's so cool."

Eziya was alert at the sudden change in her son's demeanor, turning towards him with a warm smile and open arms to support whatever had gotten him into such a mood. She patted his shoulders gently as she looked at him, still adjusting to the new eye color that matched her own. It had been an odd shift, but one she was pleased to see. Having something of herself in her son made her proud - not that she wasn't before. "What is it my love? What cool thing have you accomplished today?"

He almost blurted out what he had done, but then his surprise would just be... out there. No anticipation built. No showmanship. And if there was one thing he'd learned from his sister, it was that showmanship was very important. "Um... are you busy? Can I show you?"

"I'm never busy when it comes to you, Taarum. Lead me away and we will see the thing! Whatever that may be." She loved seeing him so sheepish with this sudden secret. It was always funny to see his typically quiet nature get more enthused over something. Eziya eagerly followed after him, making sure to lock up behind her since Fiiadri and Serr were off doing some errand or another. Fiiadri tended to stay stuck to Serr's side, so she wanted to make sure Taarum always felt just as welcome at hers.

He wanted to scramble ahead, but Taarum kept his pace slow as he led his mother out to where he'd left Ulgo. Thankfully, the snapptrotter hadn't gone anywhere. He probably should have thought about that possibility before he rushed inside. He would remember for next time. "Okay," he said, stopping in front of the creature and looking over his shoulder at Eziya. "I hope this works," he muttered. Taarum held out his hand, palm up, and looked Ulgo in the eye. "Shake!"He had forgotten the showmanship, but it was still reasonably impressive when Ulgo raised his massive forearm and placed his hand in Taarum's. They shook, then their hands dropped, the boy's back at his side, and the snapptrotter's back on the ground. Taarum turned, his smile wide. "See? Cool!"

Eziya was surprised by the big beast shaking, shocked laugh spilling from her. Serr had never done anything with Ulgo in regards to teaching him tricks, so the fact that Taarum had managed so easily excited her. She scooped the boy up in her arms, giving him a biiiiig hug before dropping him back down next to Ulgo. "That's incredible, Taarum!! I'm so proud of you. How long did it take you to teach this old boy, hm?" Eziya laughed, showering more praise upon him even as she asked him.

He thought back to when he had first gotten the idea to try training one of his parents' pets. Choosing Ulgo had been sort of a challenge to himself, which was kind of why this was so satisfying. "About a month? Maybe a little more." He gave the creature's side a fond pat. "I think he was bored." Some form of natural talent was probably at work as well, but Taarum wasn't the type to think about himself like that. "I'd like to try getting some other animals to do things too, if that's okay."

Eziya continued to pat her son lovingly, looking over to Ulgo as she considered Taarum's question. Of the two Taarum never asked for much. He was a gentle and quiet boy, and certainly the more behaved of the twins. If he was asking for anything, she knew it was something he really wanted. "Of course, sweetheart. Are there any that you would like specifically? What do you plan to do with more animals? Do you want to train them like Ulgo? Or try to raise them for food?" There were plenty of things they could use the animals for, but she thought it a good idea to mention it ahead of time for Taarum to think about.

"I guess maybe smaller ones?" He definitely liked the idea of training the hugest animals he could find, but Taarum could see how that would crowd them out of their home fast. "I would like to train them though. Not for food." He frowned a little at the thought of raising an animal just to send it off to be killed, no matter how important a job it was. Taarum held out his hand again, but without a verbal command, Ulgo just shifted his weight and let out a soft, grumbling hnf. "Maybe ride some someday? I don't know if that's a job."
