Personality: Kalla believes firmly in solving all of his problems with as many words as possible - regardless of what he has to say to get out of trouble. While he is a generally good-hearted soul, he has very little concern about lying, tricking people, or stealing if it makes his path easier. He avoids violence and abhors a yelling match, instead maintaining a positive, fun-loving outlook. The world is a game that Kalla fully intends upon winning, and looking very smart doing so.
Description: Kalla’s blonde hair is cut short, a popular style in his village. He’s a lanky, reedy boy, tall and skinny, with rounded orange crystals primarily growing from the outsides of his shoulders.
Clothing: His clothing cleaves heavily to the style of Sauti - tunics adorned in flowing, blanket-like wraps. He favors yellows, tans, and the occasional splash of green, usually a hand-made Leaf Tribe piece. Unlike most of the Wind Tribe, he isn't fond of burnt orange clothes and avoids wearing it. Fortunately, his family's relative wealth affords him to be picky about what he wears.
Accessories: He commonly wears two satchels - one over one shoulder, the other strapped to a candy-colored belt woven from the grasses of nearby Tale, a gift from his father's travels.
Quirks/Habits: Kalla jokes a lot when uncomfortable, leaning on wit to diffuse tension. He also has a tendency to bump into things often, usually leading to random bruises he can't explain.

Kalla is the lucky eldest scion of the third-wealthiest Sailscale trader in Dernd. Granted, there are only four families in town specifically focused on the Sailscale trade, but they're not last, and that's a point of pride to the family at certain low points. Kalla's father, Inkar, makes twice-yearly trips leading a caravan of draft beasts down the hill to Isd. He returns a few weeks later with a variety of gifts, supplies, and luxuries that the family relishes until the next trip comes around.
Kalla has had to work as most in Tendaji must, but his labor has been considerably less difficult than many others in his settlement. As he grew, he helped the family's tenders prepare the animals' daily meals, first mixing the scale-meal up alongside several others, then chopping dried tubers, and recently he graduated from the kitchen into the meeting room, observing his father's deal-making in order to learn the family business.
Kalla has two sisters, leaving him not just the eldest but the only boy, with all the expectations his relatively old-fashioned father places upon him because of it. Inkar has paid for the finest tutors in northeast Sauti, allowing Kalla to learn much of the world beyond the mountain village he is starting to outgrow. One of the family's hired hands taught him swordplay in an effort to give the boy the tools to protect himself... but Kalla wasn't particularly interested in the lessons and only retained the basics.
Now that he's approaching adulthood, his father is looking to have Kalla along on the next trade expedition. Kalla himself is of two minds on it - this is potentially the beginning of the end of Kalla's independence, as his father will want to be glued to him in order to properly train him in a hundred bits of minutiae. But it's also his chance to see something amazing outside his village, a chance he desperately wants.
