Sailor Wezen had learned a lot in a very short period, particularly over the human 'holiday' season. Now, things seemed to be quieting down, and she was actually finding herself... some sort of emotion for the peace. It was still impossible for her to put names to the strange sensations this planet brought out in her, but at least now she understood that those sensations were, indeed, emotions.

Feelings.

Sinistra had a lot of those. She explained them, when they occurred, usually during movies or deep conversations that took strange turns, but Wezen had easily found the only way she could really learn things on this planet was to go out and experience them herself. Usually without Sinistra with her, now, which meant leaving without telling her roommate more often than not.

Sinistra hated that, but Wezen was determined to find a way to be more human than... whatever it was she should call herself. Her planet had been one of death, one without life of its own, and without a people she ever knew. She had been a cog in a wheel too large for her to ever understand, and now it was all gone. Lost in darkness that it belonged in. She had no interest in finding it, going back to it, or trying to rescue it from its much deserved fate. Instead, she focused on Earth, this beautiful and lively place. She focused on Chaos, and driving it out of every corner it lurked in.

She did not care who it was, or what their story or reasons were. To her, they were simply sources of destruction. All Chaos needed to be removed, in order for the planet to survive.

That in mind, her patrols were simple. She locked on to a sensation of Chaos, no matter how strong it was, and moved toward it. Sure, it could lead to her ultimate demise, but she felt no fear. She had no concept of it. Her life was to serve this purpose, and whenver that ended was already fated. Sensing a strange source that still made her skin crawl, as all Chaos did, she moved toward it now with that same dogged determination. Crossing a dark street, she felt the crawling in her skin growing stronger.

Pan had been amusing herself by turning energy collection into a game of sorts. Really, it was the only way to make the assignment at all interesting. And as she hadn't yet learned how to properly remove a starseed (which might've offered the benefit of a snack), making little orbs of energy and sending them home was her only option.

Her, ahem, donors hadn't even put up a fight. This. Was. Boring. And Pan had never coped well with being bored.

She'd been tempted to quit for the night and go find a 24 hour grocery for some booze, brownies and Ben 'n Jerry's. Maybe some Netflix. But then she'd felt it. An Order aura.

Suddenly, Pan's night had improved. No need to even go hunting since whoever it was was so obligingly come straight to her. Bless their little misguided hearts...

Wezen did not try to hide her approach. She failed to look for suitable cover or useable weapons in the area, or any of the battle tactics Sinistra passed on to her from her own lessons with Camelot. Though Wezen had recently started attending these training sessions herself, she found her willingness to put all these strategies and tips into use was limited at best.

When she felt Chaos, all she wanted to do was make it disappear. Whatever she had to do to accomplish that would come to her in time, in the flow of the moment. For hundreds of years, she existed only to serve a purpose, and in a way she was continuing to do that, even if that purpose was different now. It was a bad habit, to say the least, but it was one that she would only shake by learning the consequences the hard way.

At least a few more times, to boot.

She eyed the woman as she approached, looking her over. For what little she knew of human aesthetics and fashion, she did find the outfit and colors pleasing, as far as recognizing that emotion had been described to her. She was supposed to say she liked it, but as a rule she could never say she liked anything belonging to Chaos.

"I am here to stop your activities, whatever they may be. I am offering you one chance to leave peacefully, as instructed by my partner." She spoke plainly and without any real intonation. Her expression was bland, but her eyes were blazing underneath her otherwise passive demeanor. Chaos always lit this kind of fire inside her. She did not know to name it hatred, but that was what it was.

Caught completely off guard by the senshi's flat tone, Pan stared. And then stared harder. Something about this girl was just plain wrong, but damned if she could figure it out. She'd just have to deal with her eyes insisting that there was a Problem.

"Well," she drawled, taking a moment to casually kick her last donor. "You are rather direct. How uncharacteristic for a senshi. I'll have to decide if I like flowery speeches or your approach better."

Then, rather blatantly, she crouched and took what energy remained from her latest and bounced the little orb in her hand. She wouldn't send it off. Yet. She wanted to see how this weird senshi reacted.

"You're so tough, honey? Make me."

Pan fully intended to enjoy this.

Wezen's frown deepened. It was one of the few emotions she was able to show, but only when she was truly furious. The only thing that managed that was Chaos itself. Sinistra always warned her to be careful about this particular emotion, the one that made her want to swing her fists first, and if talking were meant to happen, let that come second. Generally, she preferred not to talk to Chaos at all.

They were always so smarmy and confident. They acted the same as the White Moon, in many ways: confident that they were doing the right thing. It was a tale written by a different author, and in a perspective Wezen could never understand. mostly because she had no interest in even trying.

Chaos was tainted, and corruption incarnated into foot soldiers. Nothing they said mattered, when their actions spoke for them.

"I will attempt to," Wezen confirmed, though she was unsure how tough she was. Really, her body seemed quite squishy and easy to damage, but she did not fear pain or injury. Though, a little more fear or concern in that direction would probably help her out quite a lot. She charged, hauling her fist backwards, just like Carlisle taught her to do. She swung with everything she had, never one to hold anything back.

Literally or metaphorically.

As the other senshi charged and swung, Pan had a moment of internal glee before dismay hit when the girl’s fist caught her in the jaw, causing her to stumble back and shake her head, dazed. Well, that was certainly the first time that anyone had responded so directly to a challenge. Pan wasn’t sure whether she should be impressed or furious. Then, she tasted the hint of copper and scrubbed the back of her hand along her mouth, watching as it came away streaked in bright red. And a tooth felt a little… wiggly.

Right. Fury it was, then.

Bouncing the little ball of energy that she’d somehow managed to keep hold of, she paced, not wanting to be a stationary target. Pan cracked her neck and spat out a glob of blood and spit.

“Do you know what this is, senshi?” she asked, voice mild as she indicated the energy ball. “Are you so cavalier with the lives of those you claim to protect? Or don’t you care about them as long as the job gets done. Because hey, I can respect that sort of drive, but it’s a little weird for your type.”

As she spoke, she paced gradually closer, determined to pummel this chick into the dirt if she could. And if she couldn’t, well. As long as she could get one or two good punches in. Dental work was ******** expensive, after all. But now that she’d hopefully drawn attention to what could be considered a prize, she bounced and casually juggled the ball, making sure it was always in view.

“Did you know I can crush what’s left of his life out if I just squeeze a little?” she purred. “Sure, I might get a slap on the wrist for being wasteful, but you. You, honey, would get to live with the knowledge that your actions contributed to a murder. Bad look for one of you lot, y’know. Or maybe you’ll decide to play nice and try to save him. Won’t it be interesting to see what you choose…”

And… there! She was close enough now. Dropping her casual air, Pan moved snake-fast, kicking out for the other senshi’s belly even as she called her magic into being.

“Thirteen O’Clock!”

Quote:
Sailor Scout Attack: Thirteen O’Clock
Effects - Pan is able to use this attack up to 3 times per battle. Each instance lasts for 30 seconds, can affect one target within a 5’ radius and creates an illusion/hallucination of ghostly strains of music playing along with brief, confusing flashes of ghostly, masked dancers. Common side effects are confusion, extremely mild dizziness and a general feeling of What the Hell.

Wezen found a strange feeling rushed through her when her fist connected with something, and she realized it was a face. It was painful, in a way, her knuckles not all that used to punching things full force yet, but she found it was not an unpleasant feeling by any means. After a life of a variety of pain on her home planet, this barely registered on the radar. No, it was the other sensation that called her attention for a split second.

She was not good at recognizing emotions, though she was growing more used to the idea that she was experiencing them just as all the beings on this planet seemed to. She just never had a reason to put a name to them, or pay them any sort of attention, as they had no bearing on her reality before. Nothing she felt, on her planet, changed what she was. Here, however, it seemed like the opposite.

Watching her opponent, she kept her muscles coiled, waiting for another chance to charge.

"I never claimed I was protecting anyone," Wezen said blandly. She was nothing if not honest: and really, it was true. Protecting humans, specifically, was not on her list of priorities, In the end, their lives would be spared and improved once Chaos was gone, but she did not hold the value for each human being that her compatriots in the White Moon did.

"If you are trying to appeal to my emotions, I must inform you that it is a tactic that has no effect on me," Wezen continued, though she was fine by the distraction. She swung her fist again as Pan moved closer, not trying to block her hit but rather greet her with another punch to the face for her trouble. She did take a boot to her gut for the trouble, sinking to one knee as the air was knocked from her quite forcefully.

The images were interesting, but she recognized the magic as something very close to her own. It told her not to bother with her own powers, at least, but the Senshi of Haunting was not exactly afraid of ghosts. The sounds did, at least, distract her, though she slowly tried to get herself back to her feet.

Pan had barely had the time to duck back so that the incoming punch didn’t shatter her nose, but instead glanced off the side of her head. Weird, little b***h! Even as she grinned tightly to see the other girl fall to the ground, Pan was shaking off her own dizziness from the blow to her head. As far as she care, all the girl’s seeming readiness to throw down didn’t mean a damn thing if Pan could get in there and pummel her into a fine red paste.

“Then, you’re a s**t senshi, honey,” Pan drawled before diving in while the other was still on her knees, intent on tackling and tangling her fingers in the girl’s hair. Keep her out of breath and don’t give her room to maneuver. “Though I appreciate the lack of lecturing and appealing to my better nature. So I won’t pound your face into mush too much.”

If she could just get her fingers twined good and tight into that hair… All she needed and wanted was enough leverage to bounce Girlie’s face off the pavement a couple of times. And hey, if her knee happened to gouge into the girl’s gut while they were tusslin’ on the ground, well… That was just dandy too.

Sailor Scout Attack: Hologram Ghost
Wezen holds up her hands and summons the spectral image of a small ghost. It is unique to each enemy, often inspired by their fears or memories. It screams and lunges at the target, directly at their face. When it connects it passes through its target and dissolves, leaving behind a white hot pain where it made contact for a few seconds. The feeling lingers as the pain fades, a sensation of not being alone in ones own body, of being haunted, and a crawling of the skin taking up the rest of the spells duration.

30 Seconds
Three Uses
Ten feet

"No, not of s**t. I am the Senshi of Haunting," Wezen corrected, misunderstanding the insult. She would never master the art of battle banter, or throwing insults back and forth. Not only did she fail to feel upset when she was insulted, she also did not know what might purposefully upset someone else.

She was mostly good at doing that by accident, and that was complicated enough.

Falling backwards as the other fell on her, she quickly realized she was out of her league. She needed to call for Sinistra, but there was no real time for the other to show up. None of her other emergency contacts, either, would show up before she took more hits. She had no other options than to try her magic, though she knew it would be ineffective against someone evenly matched in powers. Everything was starting to hurt, and she knew she did not want to take any more hits.

At the very least, she felt her focus returning, even as she felt her head being pulled. She snarled, the small, twisted and broken horn she had hidden in her hair, under her hat, not something she liked others touching.

"Hologram ghost!" She threw her hand up toward Pan as best she could, calling her magic in an effort to give her a chance to escape. At the very least, she knew her magic caused pain, and maybe that would be distracting enough.
PostPosted: Sun Mar 31, 2024 11:25 am

Of the things Pan would have reasonably expected of the other senshi, the snarl and then the weird magic had not even graced the corrupt's top ten. As for the small horn she felt her fingers graze against, well. Nothing like that had even been a glimmering of an idea for her personal bingo card.

But before she could gawk over being in a fight with a Very-Much-Not-Human, the girl's magic manifested as a tiny ghost that triggered something deep in Pan's scattered and shattered memories. Cursing in shock, she reared back away from the other girl as the ghost thing screamed and lunged. <********' shitballs!" Pan shrieked as she scootched back, only to have the thing pass through her chest and vanish. Oh. Well. That was all right then.

Until a white, hot searing pain lanced through her, as if her very heart had been set on fire within her chest. Screaming and gasping, the corrupt clawed at her chest, desperate to make the pain cease somehow. And then it was gone, but something was still in her body with her and she Did Not like it.

"The ******** did you do," she growled, turning furiously to the other girl and ready to break her into her component pieces if given half the chance. Once she could get to her feet and get her hands on the girl, she'd ******** destroy her.

She just had to manage to get to her feet first...

Wezen could never predict what her magic did. Or rather, she could never know what the other would see until it was manifesting itself before them both. And she never knew what it meant, even if someone took the time to explain it to her. She had no emotional bonds that could ever hope to run as deep as the ones humans were able to create, sometimes, it seemed, on a whim.

She had once witnessed her roommate crying from watching a 'movie', which was simply a synthetic tale produced by an impressively large and organized group of humans for others to watch. From what she gathered, the ones that made her roommate so emotionally unstable were widely considered to be 'bad' ones, though Wezen could not really tell them apart just yet. Movie genres played to very specific natures and emotions in a human's brain, after all. Still, even she thought it was odd, after her research, that something listed as a 'romantic comedy' could be so upsetting as to trigger a tearful response.

In any case, she had given up on trying to understand what she saw in her magic. Instead, she focused on her opponent, first to look for an escape or an attack window, and second to see how they were responding to it. Though she could not recognize all the emotions by name, she was still recognizing some patterns that better helped her understand the way her magic made them feel.

On paper, anyway.

"I am the Senshi of Haunting," Wezen said flatly, as if that explained exactly what her powers did. Unfortunately, when her opponent had a better idea of what happened to them than she ever could, it was very, very difficult to explain her magic. Not that she was intending to stick around too much longer, having been given her window for escape and somehow deciding to stay just long enough for it to begin to close.

Abruptly standing up a bit straighter, despite the pain she was in, she turned and began to run.

The feeling of being... inhabited was wearing off and yet, Pan stayed crouched, mind seething with hate.

"I'm going to remember you, ghost girl," she growled, something in her voice indicating that if she ever had her way, the nickname would become quite literal. Even as the alien senshi turned and ran, Pan watched and silently promised herself that if they ever ran into each other again, the outcome was going to be very different.

And she now had, possibly, some valuable information to report to her superiors.

It wasn't much of a balm to her pride, but it would have to do for now.
