Abby yawned and stretched, working a kink out of her back, before she headed out of the science building. She was not a science person but the basic class is required. If she could have taken a class about the ‘science’ behind cooking she would have gladly taken the class then but instead she was taking some physics class. It was boring… so very boring. Luckily she didn’t have to deal with it until next week, for now she had an hour or so before her next class. She would use the time logically and headed towards the library. Might as well get a few papers knocked out.

Ever sat in the library with one airpod in, listening to some music and reading a book to help him learn russian. He’d yet to broach the topic of learning Russian and speaking it with the man. He had a lot going on, now dating Annie, first year of college and being a senshi for the negaverse. The negaverse were taking away time from his sleep and his studying, so now he used a lot of his free time to study and nap. He sighed, wishing he could take a nap now, but he really needed to study and finish up some homework.

She had ended up with a stack of various materials for one of her papers. Reference books and a few magazines. She had everything she needed to get a real head start on the paper but she was missing one thing…. A place to sit. Abby looked around, her arms starting to ache a bit with their burden, and could only sigh. Apparently she wasn’t the only one who had this idea.
Finally she walked up to one of the first people she saw that had a bigger table all to themselves. They had one airpod in so she approached on the side that wasn’t plugged with an electronic device. “Excuse me, may I sit here?” The young woman asked politely, if quietly, while nodding to the seat on the other side of the table.

Ever looked up when a girl approached him and asked if she could sit in one of the empty seats at his table. He didn't even realize it had gotten a bit crowded and said, “da,” going back to his book. He only reached out to pull his things closer to him to give the girl more space. He honestly didn't care if she sat, he didn't even get why she asked. Its not like he could keep the table to himself. He barely acknowledged the girl, but was polite enough.

A brow went slightly at the Russian but it was pretty clear that it was an agreement… Besides, she might not know Russian but pretty much everyone knew what ‘da’ meant. With consent given she quickly took possession of the empty seat. Her books thumping solidly on the surface. Soon enough Abby was scribbling notes and flipping through pages, muttering things quietly as she dug deeper and deeper into her research.
Finally with a muffled curse she surfaced and glared at the one particular book. It had some strange last name. A name she wasn’t even sure she wanted to try to pronounce. Sadly her paper was only part of her grade for this class, she also had to give a presentation on the subject as well. “Sergey”, that part of the name wasn’t hard, “Yas…tar? Tr…. Yasterzh…. Bloody hell.” Russian names were all insane.
But that did give her an idea. “Um…. I don’t suppose you could tell me how to pronounce this name could you?” She asked her seat mate since he apparently spoke the language. It was a long shot but her next step was to ask Google and well… that wasn’t always accurate.

Ever had honestly forgotten the girl had sat down, so when she was asking him how to pronounce something, he gave her a confused look. He noticed the word was Russian and realized she must have seen his book. “I'm sorry, but I do not speak russian. I'm just starting to learn the language, so I'm not sure I could pronounce it correctly, but I'll try my hand at it.”
He was pretty sure he butchered it, but suggested she try googling the pronunciation or maybe finding a news article on youtube with the man's name in it.
“Sorry, but if you need anything in French or Japanese, I’d be of more use,” he said with a chuckle.

“Oh, sorry about that. I just assumed…” She trailed off with a shrug even as the guy did his best to pronounce the name as well. He at least got closer to anything she could have come up with, much to Abby’s annoyance. She didn’t like stumbling over something like this but there wasn’t anything else she could do. “I guess Google will have to work. Thank you though. I do appreciate the help.”
It was a shame, ah well. “A polyglot? That's quite surprising. And such different languages as well.” She smiled and added, “I’ve only learned a few words of Swahilli myself but that's from familial teaching. That and curse words are fairly universal.” Abby chuckled and quickly made a note about the obnoxious name. This is what she got for not wanting to lug her computer around with her all day, every day.

“It’s okay, no big deal. I am studying Russian, so its not a completely incorrect assumption. I would like to travel the world and be able to really go places. It will be easier if I’m better able to communicate, plus I'm studying to be an interpreter.”
He was about to go back to his book when she continued on the subject of language which Ever was never opposed to talk about. “Ah Ive never really thought to call myself that. I'm fluent in three languages, but also French feels more like a native language as I was born in France, my father is french, mom is american. Japanese, I learned from my step-dad. I wont feel much like a polyglot until ive master another language. I’m hoping maybe it will be Russian, but you never know.”
He was currently surrounded by people that spoke another language since he joined the negaverse. He honestly wanted to genuinely learn any language he could. “You ever thought to try to learn more?”

“It's said that it's best to learn immersed in the language so I would say you’ve started off on the right food for being an interpreter,” The young woman replied. “As for Russian, it's definitely one of the harder languages to learn from what I’ve seen so I can only wish you luck. Maybe some of the apps and online games might help with it. I know most people know about Duolingo but that bird is creepy, and I’ve been told that while it works it isn’t the best. Maybe something like Babel or Roseta Stone.”
Abby made her suggestions even as she neaten her stack of materials, a glance at her watch informed her that her free time between classes was rapidly shrinking. Soon she was going to have to leave to get to her next class on time. “More Swahili? Not really. If I pick up another language it would likely be French since it is a fairly universal language. Much like Spanish.” It was also the primary language for many of the African nations so if she ever went to visit her mother’s homeland it could come in handy then.

Ever wasn't really expecting or looking for advice when he shared, but he didn't let it bother him. He just shook his head, “I think I can do without the apps, I planned on asking to practice with my girlfriend's dad, he’s russian and speaks the language fluently. Otherwise, the books I’ve found have been sufficient, but thanks anyway.”
He watched as she packed up her things and got ready to leave even though she had barely been there for 30 minutes. He smirked when she said she’d pick up French over Swahili and nodded, “well if you ever decided to learn French, I’d be happy to speak it with you. I’m Ever, by the way.”
He turned back to his book, letting the girl go on her way. He didn’t want to make her late and he had more studying to do and less time to do it now. His next class was fast approaching.

“Oh now that is a wonderful idea,” Abby smiled at the other student. Glad that he had someone on tap for the Russian language. It really was one of the best ways to learn. “And I’ll have to keep your offer in mind. I’m Abby, nice to meet you Ever. Sadly I have to run, time for my English class. Have a nice rest of your day, and thank you for helping.” She gave her pleasantries, and a little wave, before scooping up her stack of books and heading out. Since they were all reference books she couldn’t take them home so the stack went to the front desk before Abby headed off to class. It had taken her way too long to find the right books but now that she had… that paper was going to be written in no time!
