Keiko had been out of things. She went up to her homeworld often, she had learned pretty quickly that the transcendence required it, at least she was ninety percent sure that it had been the lack of Keiko-the-place that had been making her sick, as it went away when she began visiting again…but…
Still…she had been out of things in the city. Honestly, she had all but given up on seeing Lilith again, as much as she hated it…she…couldn’t quite come to terms with the fact that…things were different? Maybe they would always be different?
Maybe she was too different to even…
Whatever. It didn’t matter what she thought or felt, today she was going to do some real patrolling, and she was pleased, not for the first time that the cold wasn’t…bad. Not really, for it was a frigid night tonight, and she hadn’t been happy going out as Phoebe but…
Keiko could handle the cold.
The feeling of another Senshi nearby made her pause and glance in the direction she felt it. Perhaps she would have company, that might be nice. She wasn’t going to push it though.

On these cold winter nights, Lilith went out with a jacket over her fuku. It had been...hard, getting settled into being Mika, leaving her old life behind, figuring out who she wanted to be now. Moreover, she knew her old team was hunting her, almost certainly, and that if they found her....well.
She really didn't want to know what they would do to a traitor, even one who had most assuredly kept her mouth firmly shut.
So wandering patrols weren't so much a thing she was interested in doing, and she hadn't yet worked up the courage to go to her homeworld, which meant that she was less a Senshi and more a vtuber who occasionally got to be a magical girl.
Tongiht, though, she'd gone out, and was mostly avoiding any kind of Chaos auras, but a nearby friendly one made her hum. She should probably make more friends on her own side, so she headed in its general direction.
And when he found the person on the other end, her heart stopped for a moment.
"Keiko?"
She was just as beautiful as Lilith remembered, and bright and aglow.

Truthfully, Keiko didn’t…really feel like socializing…but something had her stay put when she felt the other aura moving closer…and when she saw who…it was?
Who it had been? Who…
“Lilith?”
Her eyes widened and then suddenly felt a little painful as sharp, hot tears stung them.
“You’re…you’re in white.”
And was even more stunning than Keiko could have ever imagined.

Oh. This...really was a sort of long-awaited reunion. Lilith wasn't sure what to do--in a story, she imagined they would run to each other, there would be hugging and crying, the whole nine yard. And she did take a step closer, and then froze in place, not sure of exactly what to do.
This wasn't some perfect fairy tale, after all. Keiko might be upset with her, for the long silence between them. For not being told ahead of time what Lilith planned to do.
She hoped not, of course. Wanted this to be the "crying and hugging and maybe some kisses" kind of reunion. But who knew.
"I am, yeah. I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner, I...didn't really know how to find you."

Sorry? Why on Earth was she sorry? Sure, if Keiko could have known sooner, that would have been wonderful but. “You look so beautiful!”
Her voice broke on the last word and she lunged towards the Senshi, drawing her into a tight embrace. “I can’t believe it. I was so worried that something bad had happened to you, this is…this is absolutely the best thing I could have imagined!”
Drawing away from the embrace, Keiko held Lilith by the shoulders and looked her over yet again. “How long? I’m so happy for you, I’m so excited! Lils, oh my god! I don’t even…”
It felt as though her mind were racing a hundred miles an hour, but Keiko felt…so utterly wonderful. Lilith was here.

Oh, thank goodness. Keiko wasn't upset. In fact, she seemed pretty unabashedly happy--so when she launched herself forward, Lilith lit up, and opened her arms to catch her, squeezing tight for the time they embraced.
"No, I just haven't been out much--I'm worried about what might happen if my old team finds me," she admitted. "But I've missed you so much. And you look amazing--all lit up like this." Aglow and protected from Chaos.
"It's been...a while," Lilith confessed. "Long enough that I've gotten myself fairly well set up in a new life. I'm just...I'm so glad to see you."

“I’m very glad to see you too! Will you come home with me tonight? I can make us something good for dinner and we can really catch up?”
Keiko smoothed LIlith’s hair and felt…wonderful. For the first time in a long time, like all of the pieces were put back into place. She hadn’t realized that she had been feeling the ache of Lilith’s loss so deeply but…now that it was healed…
“If you do ever run into any of your old team, you know that I will protect you. I won’t let the Chaos ever take you back.”
She fell quiet and then gave a soft sigh. “As long as that isn’t your wish, I won’t ever stand in your way if is, but I won’t let it happen so long as it’s not.”

"I would love that," Lilith said, unhesitatingly. Going home with the girl she adored, getting to have a nice dinner, spending time together...it sounded amazing.
And they would be able to do that as themselves.
"I'm...really excited to meet you, under the fuku. And to introduce myself to you, all over again." She reached out to take Keiko's hands.
"I don't ever want to go back. There's nothing there for me."

Keiko grinned and then, after making sure that they were alone, powered down to simply Phoebe and kissed Lilith’s cheek. “Then let’s go, beautiful. I don’t ever want you to go back either, but I do want you to know that I support you, no matter what it is. And I will always be on your side. No matter what.”
Right now, what she wanted was to take this lovely lady to dinner, and then back home and…yes. Get to know her all over again. That sounded…
Well. Nothing short of delightful.
