Illyria had been rather secretive in the weeks following the creation of what it was that allowed her to take on a more powerful form. It had meant sneaking out at odd times in order to get a handle on what she could or couldn't do. Oh there had been nights where she was content to simply curl up on a blanket at Orah's and sleep away whatever worries that she had that this new development in her life had been but a fluke, a mistake, an one-and-done type scenario. When it became clear that it wasn't something like that the small Mauvian had then begun to experiment.
The first and most important point she had come to learn the the transformation only held for an hour each day. That in itself was both a blessing and a curse. It meant that while she could do more in a battle, it would mean that the battle would have to be over and done with before her transformed stage fizzled out. The second point that she learned was that she could, if needed, use magic that could help during a battle.
For this night though, Illyria had decided that she could no longer put off telling her bonded partner what was going on. The magic itself was stable, she was certain of that. Ida deserved to know and Illyria would be pleased to finally get the little secret she'd been harbouring off of her chest. She was the picture of complete relaxation as she awaited Orah's arrival home so that they could go on a patrol together. Illyria had made sure to ask if Orah's evening was free of plans on this night.

It was sad how dark it was every night when Orah came home from her shift at the hospital. Days like today, she missed the sun almost desperately... the warmth of it, the way it felt on her skin. The dark made everything feel almost... claustrophobic. She was mightily looking forward to the moment she could slip away to her asteroid and the soft, always-spring sunshine there. She and Illyria could lay in a blanket in the grass, soak up the sun while they napped together.
Keys rattled in the door of the apartment as she made her way inside, a welcome sight greeting her in the form of a small cream and brown cat with a beloved face.
"Hello, sweety!" She called as a grin spread across her face. Her coat and scarf went on a peg by the door as she kicked her boots off, padding across the kitchen to reach down and scoop up the small cat into her arms. "Were you waiting for me?"
Her fingers rubbed under her chin as she buried her face in Illyria's fur, feeling the softness of it against her cheeks.

At Orah's entrance Illyria's whole body shook with unbridled excitement. She couldn't help herself. There was just something so thrilling about being able to welcome home her bonded partner with a smile and a thunderous purr. Even as Orah scooped her small frame up off of the ground did she give an amused sounding meow before trying to twist her body around in response to the sensation of having her chin gently tickled before Orah's face was buried in the fur of her back. This closeness that they shared never got old and Illyria relaxed, content in the moment before remembering the question that had been asked of her. Instead of answering right away Illyria gently reached up with her paws to place each over a shoulder before initializing her version of a feline hug, "welcome home Orah. I was waiting for your return. I hope your shift wasn't too tiring."
Illyria had hoped that there would be time to at least show off what she had discovered to her bonded, but if Orah was too drained from work then it was feasible to hold off for another day. But there was that small hope that they could go somewhere and perhaps she could reveal everything to Ida without being disturbed. Anywhere that would be considered safe would be acceptable so if they weren't out long, it could be anywhere in Destiny City ... but if Illyria had any real place she wanted this reveal to happen, it would be within the safety of being on Ida's homeworld.
"I've been tinkering with something over the past few weeks and I wanted to show you what I've accomplished as far as results go but for obvious reasons it can't be here. Safety concerns and all that jazz. If you want we can go to Ida or it can be here in the city. Either way I just wanted to show you want I've done."
Whimsical Blue I didn't think about where this reveal would take place. If it's on Ida, is there a way we can move this thread to the right subforum?

Orah's face brightened at the suggestion of going to their asteroid.
"Something to show me? Oh, that sounds fun. Yeah, we can go, if you're ready. Do you need to grab anything first?"
Food needed to be found, but there was food on Ida in the form of stored, freeze-dried camp meals and the fresh fruit and veggies that she'd planted in the soil. They could find something there and that possibility was far more enticing than trying to make up a meal here. In fact, there wasn't really anything Orah herself wanted to grab before they went. She'd spent enough time stocking Ida with everything she could possibly want that now she has the luxury of popping off to it whenever she wanted to.
She placed Illyria down long enough to gather anything the Mauvian wanted them to bring before leading her out to the balcony. Pulling out her henshin pen, she spoke the words that called the magic, wrapping her up in glowing petals and flowing fabric. As the light faded, Ida bent down to pick up her cat again, settling her in her arms as she called her phone out of subspace.
"Ready?" She murmured, giving her head a little scratch. Hitting the button on her phone, she let the teleportation take them and felt the world change about them, finally releasing them into warmth and flooding sunlight. Ida sighed the moment she felt it, closing her eyes to lift her face towards the light.

There were a few things that Illyria could have brought up to Ida for this reveal to Orah but instead of gathering up everything Illyria paused with indecision. What more did she need to bring with her besides the newly constructed GPS unit which was already in her subspace pocket? As soon as Orah placed her down onto the ground Illyria made a beeline for the one item that hadn't been tucked away into any magical pocket of space but rather tucked away securely in her own little corner of Orah's room. The notebook in which her sketches of what she'd found one night and how she had ended up using it might be helpful in explaining to Ida what she was witnessing after the reveal had happened.
Dragging the notebook out from under her pile of sleeping blankets did Illyria finally return, having sent the notebook to join the gps unit in subspace so that she could be paws free at the moment.
Meeting Orah back at the balcony door entrance did Illyria feel the rightness of the moment in which she was scooped up back into Orah's arms to be led outside. Watching the transformation that occurred seconds later Illyria began to purr as Earth fizzled away to be replaced by the verdant and lush scenery of Ida.
The sunlight and warmth of the air filled Illyria with a sense of excitement at what she was about to demonstrate to Ida but first things first. She squirmed her tiny feline body around, getting ready to jump down if it was called for. This was going to be very interesting... she just hoped that Ida would be receptive to the reveal that was going to happen.

Ida wasn't sure what Illyria had grabbed from the bedroom, but she hadn't asked either. Illy would tell her if she wanted her to know, otherwise her small friend deserved a bit of privacy. They lived together and shared much of the same spaces, and that would be hard on any friendship where one of them wasn't cat shaped most of the time.
When they arrived and Illyria began to squirm, Ida bent down to set her gently in the grass, stroking her fingers once down her spine and along the length of her soft tail. Real cat or not, she was still cat-shaped and as soft or softer than a real cat. It was hard not to want to pet her like an earth cat, especially when she seemed to enjoy it.
"What was it you wanted to show me?" She asked as she sat in her crouch, watching her mauvian with a curious gaze. Something she had been tinkering with, hmm? A new device, maybe? The Mauvians were responsible for all the technology senshi had, from henshin pens to senshi phones and more. Their intelligence and ability to create was always awe inspiring, especially considering how benign they looked. New devices could bring a lot of benefit, like the phone upgrade and some of the apps the cats had released. And she'd seen some one off devices that did amazing things like block energy signatures.

Even as Ida lowered herself into a crouch and released her into the grasses that grew abundant around them did Illyria simply arch into the questing fingers that ran down her spine and along her tail before she shook off the phantom yet pleasant sensations, enjoyable as they always were, of being petted and cosseted like a real cat of Earth. There could be time for that later on during this visit ... much later. First things first: did she go for the sudden shock reveal or build up the narrative with the tale of how things happened? There would be a lot of narrative and questions that could probably follow afterwards but the more Illyria thought about the order of what it was she wanted to do, it probably made more sense just to get the reveal over and done with. Illyria wasn't a nervous Mauvian at all, but yet even as she concentrated and her GPS unit and notebook appeared on the ground in front of her did Illyria shift into her human form. Questing fingers itched to just activate the change that would happen once she powered on the GPS device but she paused to also pick up the closed notebook that contained what she remembered sketching of the work she had done.
Opening up the notebook with hands that shook just a little did Illyria stop on the page that showed the sketches of what she'd set out to accomplish in hopes of fixing what had been broken at the time. Gently pressing the open book into Ida's hands did Illyria take a few steps backwards in order to put a bit of distance between herself and Ida before she spoke, "It started out as an experiment to fix something that had been broken and it yielded a result I was not expecting ... but here goes nothing."
Gently Illyria took a deep breath before pressing the power switch down on her device and felt the now, almost familiar, sense of power wash over her. The changes in her appearance were subtle ... but changed she had. Even as she stood with purple flats on her feet did she wonder if Ida noticed anything different about her. She'd spent time in front of reflective surfaces long enough to have had thoroughly documented each difference that she had been able to pick up on ... but there always seemed to be something new to discover. For now she simply stood straight in her new appearance, waiting for any reaction from her bonded partner.

Ida rose up as Illyria took her human form and accepted the notebook from her, studying it with curious eyes. She didn't understand all of it... she wasn't the best with human technology, let alone Mauvian, but it looked impressive either way.
She looked up to see Illyria backing away, and wondered at it, before the sudden change came over her. She had some kind of device in her hand... and then her outfit had changed. The massive energy signature she had felt on her inner senses was gone too, replaced with something that felt more like... a super senshi?
"Oh!" Ida nearly dropped the book in her surprise and excitement. "Illy! Are you a senshi now? That's amazing! Liryn did that before, but its so cool you can do it now too! Oh wow, you look amazing!"
She was still the soft and frilly Illy that she remembered, but the colors were brighter now, shaped a little more like a senshi's uniform...
"You have orchids on you now." She said, feeling a warmth in her chest for the outward sign of their bond. They really were a pair now.

Illyria had been feeling a little bit nervous at the lack of reaction from the technical aspect of what she had had to manipulate in order for this whole experience to have happened but it was nice to get confirmation of what tinkering with that strange shard had done. Striking a pose that would have made any professional model cringe Illyria laughed softly before she nodded. "I think I am. And yes, I do have orchids on me. The colors that I have while in my humanoid form have shifted a little to reflect more to the colors you bear with pride. Now I bear them too ... and I'm delighted to do so."
Pausing a little more for the dramatic flair Illyria's ears did perk up at the mention that another cat, Liryn, had managed to do the same thing. "Do you happen to know if Liryn found something that made it possible to do so? I think at times that I'm just creating experiments that go wrong, only to find out that somehow or another ... they've gone right."
There was a little moment in which silence rushed in before the Mauvian glanced to Ida before she gave a soft, yet uncertain, smile before dropping the transformation. As good as it felt, it seemed unnecessary to continue in that guise while she was here on Ida's homeworld. Nothing could harm the pair of them here. "I ask about if Liryn found something because that is how this started. Before winter started I went on one of my usual geocache hunts and found what I was looking for but when I reached into the cache to get my "prize" for a successful find .. I felt something powerful. It seemed to be some sort of crystal shard. Since it almost felt like it belonged to me, I took it. Fast forward to the penguins that were spotted around Christmas ... and that's where my GPS unit was broken. I made an attempt to fix the thing but nothing was working. That's when I thought of the shard. I had to manipulate things a lot but in the end everything closed up nicely and when I pressed the power button ... this new transformation happened."

"Illy, you truly are amazing." Ida said as she reached out to take the Mauvian's hands, unable to stop grinning at her. "I'm so proud of you... its almost magical how you can take something and make it work. I'm glad you figured it out. I never would have doubted that you would."
She shook her head gently and tugged her companion towards the sitting area over by the tower, holding her hand as they went.
"I don't remember how Liryn did it. Maybe he found a shard to. You could always give him a call and ask? I'm sure he'd be really happy to talk with you about it. You could 'compare notes', you know?" Ida said as they reached the seat, sinking down to sit on one of the comfortable cushions. "You have senshi powers now... do you know what kind of magic you might have?"
Here was as safe a place to test such things out as any, if she hadn't.

Illyria beamed at the praise that Ida was bestowing on her even as she cautioned herself not to get too smug. It was true that the original idea had not panned out but this new stage in her life was something to be celebrated all the same. Her gaze moved to the sitting area that Ida was walking towards before she simply shrugged her shoulders and went with the flow, so to speak. She was happy that Ida was taking this reveal fairly well. Her thoughts turned inward for a moment before she made the mental note to see if she could contact Liryn in order to compare notes once they returned back to Earth. For now though she was content to simply bask in the Idan sunshine.
As Ida sat on one of the cushions that littered the area Illyria slowly followed suit. The question that her bonded partner asked of her had Illyria nodding slowly in response. She did have an idea on what her magic did and while her offensive attack wouldn't work the defensive one probably could, "I have two sorts of magic that I can use. In one I can form a sphere that glows. Upon throwing it, and it hitting a target, it explodes into pollen. The other I think helps to protect me a little from potentially being struck in close quarter combat with an enemy: flower petals form a mini cyclone around me and they act like a bit of a shield. Just not a great one for thrown objects."
Not that she really wanted to face an enemy down by herself. Being able to provide backup was probably what her pollen attack was best situated for. It was all Illyria could do sometimes in her feline form to provide an adequate distraction in order to help out a senshi in need and sometimes it just made things worse. At least now though she could make an enemy think that if they weren't in visual sight of whomever she was aiding at the time, it would register as another senshi, and not a Mauvian in their human form. So it lent some more protection to herself as well.
"I think the powers I have, if I were to guess, could maybe compliment your own magical attacks. Maybe they are similar to orchids?"

Crossing her legs under her, Ida settled back to listen to the description of the magic. Pollen and petals, hmm? And two kinds, both offensive and defensive. It did sound a lot like what Liryn had, but of course, it was different for Illyria.
"I suppose it makes sense that your magic might look like flowers, since we're bonded. But its also really neat. I suppose you're practice with it then, since you know what it does? Have you used any of it against anyone yet?" She realized, as she asked it, that she might not be the first person Illyria had shown this new form. That was fine, but it made her curious what else Illyria had learned about it in the mean time.
At least being here was one of the most comfortable places they could be for this. Warm, safe, surrounded by the smell of flowers and soft breezes that brought the sound of wind chimes. After so much time spent here, it truly felt like a second home for Ida. If it weren't for her family, her friends, and virtually every other part of her life back on earth... She could have been happy to live here forever. Thankfully, there was no more restriction on how often she could visit now, so even short trips of a few hours was possible now.

Illyria hadn't used her newfound powers on anyone in particular but some random outings had produced the results that she had spoken of. It wasn't exactly the best thing to admit that she had gone out purposely looking for trouble in the form of opponents, but she had kept her experimenting on enemies to the odd youma encounter. Going out looking for trouble wasn't something she wanted to do, but it had needed to be done so she could at least get a grasp on what her new transformation entailed. Those little encounters had helped Illyria to get an understanding on what magic she had at her disposal but more often then not her opponents were not completely affected like a human might be so after launching the attacks, she would turn tail and run away.
Illyria would have been content to leave it at that but even as the warmth of the atmosphere and the presence of the company she was in had the Mauvian facing moral consternation. Bringing out the device she powered it off and dropped the senshi form to return to humanoid Mau form before giving a sigh, "I've been experimenting the odd time, not on human opponents, but simply on youma that I might stumble upon. I've been careful but I know what I've been doing is risky too."
She gave Ida a small smile before simply falling silent, "at least I know that I can do more to protect my friends now. Using the magic doesn't drain me as much as shooting off my star beam."

Ida smiled warmly as she reached over to take Illyria's hands in her own, giving them a squeeze.
"Its important to know what your powers can do, so finding ways to practice them is good. I'm glad you didn't run into anything you couldn't handle, and you know you can always call me if you do and I'll come running." She said. A thought occurred then and her smile widened as she pushed herself to her feet, giving the Mavian's hands a little tug.
"Do you think you have some time left to that transformation, so we could maybe practice together a little? I want to see how your magic works, and maybe we can think of some ways that the two of us can fight together, side by side. I bet we could come up with some really good moves that'll come in handy later."
It wasn't something Ida was really used to doing, but for Illyria, it felt natural. They would be together often, maybe even all the time, and knowing how to fight together would make them more effective as a pair. Especially if they could learn how not to get into each other's way, and actually support each other. AND, doing it here just made sense. They were safe here, and there wasn't anything they could truly damage if their magic got out of hand.

Would her magic even work against Ida? Illyria looked down at the device that still rested in her hand. So far, in her tests, the magic only seemed to work against those that she considered to be her opponents. For the magic to work would she have to think of Ida in that sort of manner if they were to have a mock battle of sorts? The easier question to answer was that of timing. On this Illyria had a confident enough idea on how long the transformation held and even as she reactivated the power source that saw her change once more did she give Ida a tentative smile, "I am pretty sure I still have at least forty minutes left for my current stage. I've timed it and my transformation seems to hold for an hour at most."
Illyria glanced around the area in which they were currently sitting down in before chuckling, "I don't think my magic will affect anything here but I'd still feel bad if something were to be damaged somehow," Illyria paused before her look once more turned contemplative, "what magic would you like to see first: offensive or defensive? If I can make a suggestion it would be for the defensive attack first as the offensive might take a while to wear off and the magic can affect sight, in a sense."
There was a marked hesitance in her voice that might have spoken of her reluctance to actually launch either magical attack off but she would do it ... for Ida did make a good point. It would be better for their teamwork as a pair if Ida knew what she could do while she wore this form.
