It had been, for Sakuraiite, a very successful night. There was some kind of theater-in-the-park situation going on, and that sort of thing was practically catnip for her. For a certain value of such, at least. She'd hidden, waiting, until people started to drift away, and then it had practically been a buffet of drained energy.

People were so oblivious. Too busy chatting about the show to notice her, to notice themselves getting drained. And there were so many dark spots to hide in, so many places to make sure that she didn't catch anyone's eye.

With a massive ball of energy in hand, she started walking away--this would be more than enough for the evening, she was pretty sure.

It had been a long time since Læraðr felt comfortable enough to patrol. Something twisted in his gut, like he knew something would go horribly wrong if he left the home he lived in, left behind the responsibilities of Leandro to go take care of the responsibilities of Læraðr, but... He couldn't be the only one shouldering the burden of the family. As much as he wanted to. He wanted to make everyone happy, ensure they were all cared for, but... at some point, he just had to accept it was unrealistic to be that person all of the time. He had to be Læraðr some of the time, too.

It didn't seem to get easier, the longer he patrolled, but he hoped it would eventually. At least, that part, because once he sensed the Negaverse energy signature in the crowd of people, he knew tonight wouldn't be easy in the fighting department.

He dropped in behind her, the half youma officer, and scowled. "Just what do you think you're doing?" he demanded, cane held tightly in his hands.

Ah, of course. A Squire who thought he was so powerful, here to make Sakuraiite's life so much more difficult. This was always the way, but frankly, considering that her work was done, he couldn't have arrived at a better time.

Casually, she tucked her ball of energy into subspace, smiling politely at him the entire time.

"You're very brave, to challenge me so openly, Squire. Do you think that you can chase me off? Save these people? If so, I'm honestly impressed. That's very brave of you, and you ought to be commended for it. Even fi it's also more thna a little foolish."

To say the least.

"Now, before you do anything stupid that might get you or one of these people hurt, I would suggest you turn around and leave. You can be brave another day, if you do. If you don't, well...I can't promise that I'll give you a second chance to walk away under your own power."

Damn it all, of course she just put the energy ball in her subspace. He should have just attacked outright so it could scatter back to the people to whom it all belonged—why warn her, give her the chance to do that and prepare for a fight? He cursed himself out in his head as he narrowed his eyes at her and bent his knees slightly, raising his cane. He wouldn't run. He'd picked this fight, after all. And at the very least, he could stop her from getting more. Stop her from choosing to nab a few starseeds, too.

He didn't care for her silly compliments on his bravery. He didn't care for her telling him to walk away. He didn't care for her ugly promise of violence if he didn't go, if he fought her. There was no going back. Not for him.

"Try that on someone less stupid," he said, twirling his cane and summoning his magic.

Cane. As he taps and twirls it in his hands rhythmically, a rush of sound sweeps through the area. It doesn't sound like any kind of music anyone has ever heard and it's strange and otherwordly. It's a little hard to think while it plays because it's so unusual and disorienting. The magic affects every enemy within an eight foot radius, and can last for up to 30 seconds.

Most of the time, Sakuraiite was fairly certain that, as a half-youma, she was essentially the pinnacle of evolution. She was made anew, half-human and half-monster, something unique and special, more than any human officer could hope to be. But in moments liek this, when she was faced one to one with someone on her level, Sakuraiite did sort of long for a weapon.

If only so she could shove it throguh the Squire's chest and stop the damnable music. It rattled throguh her, made her clutch her head, made ti hard to line her thoughts up in a reasonable way. But if she could just shut it up--

Clumsily, she launched herself forward, a slow and easily-dodged tackle attempt. If she were thinking clearer, she'd have shamed herself for it--pathetic and miserable. But she was not thinking clearly, so here they were.

Læraðr felt relieved as the magic worked, channeled through him, and very clearly annoyed and disoriented the half youma woman before him. Good. Very good. He kept it up, trying to gauge what he should do next before he ran out of time. He could feel it, the time creeping up on him, as his pool of magic drained. Then she lurched at him, slow and clumsy, and he reacted on instinct—he slammed his cane across her head, ceasing the channeling of his magic to focus just on hitting her. The thud sound reverberated through the cane and up his arms, making him feel a bit ill in turn.

There were many situations in which a cane to the head might not actually have knocked Sakuraiite down. She was, generally, pretty durable, as a monstrous magical warrior. But the thing was, she had gotten slammed in the head with a cane, while already disoriented, and generally having a bad time. Not exactly ideal, by anyone's definition, least of all hers.

So, under those specific circumstances, she crumpled to the ground, faceplanting into the dirt. She was, indeed, out.

Læraðr panted as she went down, clearly out. He shivered a bit and brought his cane back closer to his body. Damn. What a rush that had been. And he doubted she would be bothering anybody else tonight. Not when she'd definitely wake up with a raging headache, whenever she did wake. He hoped she'd wake, anyway. He didn't want to kill anyone. But he also didn't know what to do for her... So, guiltily, he just walked away. if he met another Negaverse officer tonight, he'd try to briefly make peace or something and tell them about this lady.
