It was a relatively peaceful, quiet night. Sakuraiite enjoyed nights like this--nights where she could work, unfettered and unbothered by arrogant White Moon interlopers that thought they knew so much better than her.

They thought they were so clever and moral. How utterly tedious. If there was one thing to be enjoyed about being nonhuman, it was that such petty concerns were beneath her--who could expect a monster to be anything but a monster? And a monster she was, prowling the dark streets.

A civilian alone at night in a park was an easy target, and Sakuraiite moved closer, casually brushing her hand over the woman's arm to swipe a little energy.

Cicely D'Cruz normally wouldn't go to the park, after all she was from a high-class family with a lot of money and they had drivers and she shouldn't have to walk home after violin practice, but this was some sort of character-building thing her father wanted her to do. She sighed so put out by this annoying event. It would serve him right if she was mugged or murdered in the park, then he would never make her walk home again. She could have driven herself but that would be so ick as well, driving herself who would expect her to do such a thing really?

Lingering on one target too long was bad form, and so Sakuraiite was off quickly, leaving behind the woman she'd started draining. Take too much from one and you spoiled it, and besides, it would be far too easy to get noticed. A monster made people scream, made them panic. No need for that.

But there was another target. A young woman, alone, carrying--oh.

A violin case.

Something in Sakuraiite stirred, but she pushed it away. whatever unremembered feeling was there, she didn't want to care about it. Not now.

She approached silently, and when she was close enough, reached out to start pulling energy. She would have to follow behind and keep pace to ensure she got what she needed, but that wasn't all that hard, in the end.

CC hadn't noticed anything was wrong yet, but she did feel a little tired as her energy was being drained. She frowned and grumbled to herself it was after all her father's fault for making her walk home. She didn't think that she should have to walk home after violin practice, this was so stupid. After all violin practice was hard work as well, and made her fingers hurt at times. She would have quit but her parents would never allow it. She was old enough to take care of herself but she didn't want to and she wanted to keep getting her allowance. She also didn't want to make him so angry that he disinherited her altogether. So she had no other choice but to do what he demanded.

It was Friday evening and the sun had already set since it was after 5 in the afternoon, soon enough spring would come and the days would grow longer again. As it was it was dark before one even realized the day was gone. She grumbled and again wanted to throw her violin into the woods near the park. Instead she clenched her hand around the handle of her case.

Her target didn't seem to be stumbling, or anything--good. Clearly she hadn't taken too much. Probably enough, though--so with a thought, she cut it off, and casually sauntered forward. If she walked normally, moved quickly and avoided the light, perhaps her more unusual features would go unnoticed or be played off as a trick of the shadows.

But it would still mean that she walked past.

And perhaps if this civilian reacted interestingly enough, Sakuraiite would investigate her more thoroughly. The Negaverse always needed new recruits, after all.

CC caught something out of the corner of her eye and she turned to try to see it but she didn't see anything, she felt a shiver up her spine as if she had been touched more deeply by something than she should have. She frowned and used her free hand to rub her arm to try to make the feeling go away. She needed to hurry home and have one of the kitchen staff make her a cappuccino so she could warm up. She didn't like this cold weather, nor did she enjoy walking in it as some others might. She shook her head it must have been her imagination. There was nothing wrong besides her being tired since her father made her walk home. She decided to find a spot and be late getting home to make her father worry to teach him a lesson. Since clearly there were no murderers around to prove her point.

What a stupid--or stupidly brave--choice, to sit down on a bench in a park after dark. Sakuraiite had to admit, she was fascinated. There were so many stories of dangerous people in the dark, of people being found dead on park benches under mysterious circumstances--what did you have to be thinking, to decide to do that?

So, fine, she was intrigued.

She stepped into the light, leaned under a streetlamp, crossed her arms.

"Brave of you, to be out here alone."

See how the girl reacted to an inhuman creature addressing her.

CC frowned as she looked at the girl in front of her "What are you going to murder me or mug me? It would serve my father right if you did, I shouldn't have been here to begin with." She said in an annoyed tone. "Are you some kind of cosplayer?" She asked there was no way they were real after all that would be silly. This city was weird sometimes but everything could be explained right? She got up and said "If you try to hurt me or rob me you will be punished." She said simply. In a haughty confident tone.

akuraiite shrugged her shoulders. "I haven't decided yet, I confess." There were options before her, after all. But oh, the suggestion that she was some kind of cosplayer, that this was a costume--she laughed, delighted and bell-like, shaking her head.

"Trust me, I will not be punished, because this is not some silly costume." It was casual. One moment she was leaning by the lamppost. The next, she had teleported directly in front of this mouthy girl, hand going for the starseed in her chest.

If she wanted to talk so haughtily to someone far more powerful than her, she could experience the consequences of her arrogance.

The pain was sudden and shocking, CC was so confused and she had no way to defend herself. She was just a teenage spoiled girl. She would however find a way to get pay back if this turned out to be something other than a dream. She passed out of the bench quickly since she was merely a civilian and therefore had no powers to make her stronger than a normal girl.

The girl passed out. Sakuraiite smiled, and withdrew her hand. No point in killing this one now; she had no need of the starseed and the girl had already provided a tithe of energy for her bratty behavior.

Perhaps she would learn--do not mouth off at monsters in the dark. Perhaps she wouldn't, and someone else would be less charitable someday.

Either way, it was no longer Sakuraiite's problem.
