He smiled seeing his girlfriend, he always felt better seeing her face because he was in a rough spot. He had a bit of a break up with someone from another town, having tried out remote dating and ended up finding out that she was stringing him along and playing him. He caught on and cut off the date but she played his strings well so dating Zoey and having seen her a few times in person was nice. He looked at the phone, "Im doing good, just getting ready for the surprise this weekend." he said as he was excited to go with her to the moonlight festival.

He smiled to see her seem excited as he thought it over, "Alright, fine, I can at least tell you that much. Starting tomorrow night is the beginning of the Moonlight Festival." He said revealing what tomorrow was, "The weather is going to be amazing and clear so the full moon is going to be lighting up the festival grounds as well as all the beautiful lights." He informed, "And after returning home to rest, the day after, some time before evening, the sunset should be equally as beautiful as they do the festivities and such." He said revealing what he had planned for the weekend.

He saw her smile and it brightened his day immediately even if it was just a voice call but he did notice something, she would tense up some when she felt nervous or was hiding something. Whenever she snuck some extra bites of his snacks she did this but now he could see her tense up even now, "Is everything alright? I know you said you werent the most comfortable with large crowds before but I figured it would be a fun experience." He said kindly to her, hoping he didnt upset or make her nervous that she had to put on a fact smile.

Ethan would nod as she spoke about having something to talk to him about, he was worried about her but he hoped she would be okay. They would talk about some normal things til they ended the call. Ethan had to work that day and the next morning, but as the time was coming up for the festival, the moon would rise early, Zoey would feel her shapeshifting coming on, where most full moons she could try to surpress her full form, this would be much stronger. However as she was about to begin changing, her phone rang, and when she would pick it up, she would accidentally answer it, "Hey Zoey, just wanted to call and inform you im on my way over to pick you up." he informed kindly.

Ethan heard the animalistic noises coming from the phone before it went dead, he would panic as he drove quicker to get to her home. Once there, he would find the scene as he got in via the garage door. Seeing the scene, his heart dropped, especially seeing the blood, her torn clothes and the open back door. He felt pain, fear, sadness, "Is she even alive?! Wait, there isnt a body, shes alive, has to be!" he was about to run out the back door but stopped and went to his car. He opened the trunk and a hidden compartment he used, pulling a gun lock box, he pulled out a pistol he used for volunteer work as security using rubber stun rounds but another compartment and lock box had live rounds in it. Loading the gun, he grabbed a flashlight and rushed out back into the forest. He searched the trail for any blood, tracks or signs of Zoey. At some point he found a piece of her jewelry, a bracelet he had gifted her when they first started dating and he almost felt like he was about to vomit.

Searching for hours, it was nearly dawn, under the moon light his flashlight pierced the dark forest, "Zoey! Please tell me youre okay!" He would call out to her. As he continued, he felt himself being watched for a while, he even though he saw something moving at the edge of his flashlight. He was about to call in for back up, he hadnt had service for a bit but he soon heard a noise as a bear stood from some buses, it growled at him as he was in its territory as it rushed him.

Ethan watched as the bear rushed towards him til it was stopped as a large equally sized white wolf tackled and stopped the bear. He watched the two fight and battle, but as the wolf got injured, it eventually won as the bear was injured and taken down. As the wolf turned its attention to him, he was frightened til it noticed fabric on its side, fabric that looked the same as Zoey's torn clothing. Anger got the better of him as he raised the weapon at her, "Where is Zoey?! What did you do to her! If you harmed her, if you killed her!" He was angry, he didnt want to shoot the animal, but he was worried it killed his girlfriend, someone he cared deeply about. As the wolf tried moving, he shot the ground by its foot in front of it, "Tell me shes alive!" He demanded, the sky darkened for a moment as the sky transitioned from moonlight as orange began to stain the sky, dawn was approaching.

He flinched and held the gun up as she whimpered but as the sun hit her, he was cautious as she seemed in pain but watched as the wolf seemed to shrink in size. When soon she was a anthromorphic human wolf creature, he was still hesitant. However he froze hearing a voice, the voice of his beloved girlfriend, "Was this a wendigo? Did it steal my girlfriend's voice?!" he was tired from running around the forest, his andreneline was running out and soreness getting to him, his mind thinking of a game of monsters stealing the voices of victims. It wasnt til he saw another bit, he saw the eyes of his girlfriend, which he saw she was scared, "Z-zoey?!" He asked as he couldnt believe it was her but when she nodded, he lowered the gun and she would hear the click of the safety being turned on. Putting the gun away, he stepped closer and looked at her head, "We need to get you home, youre injured." He stated simply, taking off his jacket so she could wear it to cover up.
