Elaxi 1
With her sister off doing whatever it was she was up to lately, she was left to her own devices. She didn’t know her younger siblings and she felt a little out of place around them. So she wandered around until she found her aunt out tending to one of the many beasts on the ranch. At first she was hesitant to approach her but eventually she did so.

She was brushing down one of the few radaku that they had when she noticed Elaxi. It seemed like the girl was hesitant to come near and she wondered if it was because of the beast. However, the girl’s gaze seemed to be on her. It caused Terr to worry that she might be a little too grumpy this morning. Once the girl got closer she offered a small smile. “Hey Elaxi.”

She seemed a bit surprised that her aunt knew her name. With her having been gone for so long she wasn’t sure if anyone really knew who she was. “You know my name?” SHe questioned softly. It was stupid but she worried about that. Had anyone forgotten her when she was gone?

There was a pause on her part before she nodded her head. SHe stopped brushing the beast and looked at her niece with a worried look. “Of course I know your name. Why wouldn’t I?” Did the girl think that because she didn’t socialize much that she didn’t know the names of the family that she now was a part of?

Her shoulders lifted up slightly before she lowered them back down. “I just thought that… since I was gone for so long..” SHe trailed off and looked away. Her eyes found something interesting on the ground to look at. Anything but the adult in front of her. She somewhat felt ashamed for her own feelings.

She furrowed her brows a little. “Just because you were gone?” She bent down to set the brush on the ground before she pat the radaku on the rump to send them off. The beast looked at her before moving along. Once there was no animal between them she moved over to Elaxi and wrapped her arms around the girl. “Sweet thing. Even when you were gone we remembered your name. We looked for you all over.” She reassured the girl.

The hug was a surprise as she hadn’t been paying attention to when Terr sent the beast away. She blinked and leaned back so she could look at her but she stayed in the embrace. “You did?” Well of course they had to have kept looking to have found her when she was finally back in Oba with her friends.

“Oh little one.. What would make you think we would forget you?” Now she was curious. Surely her parents had already had this discussion with her, right? And if they hadn’t then Terr was more than willing to go knock some heads in. She leaned back to look at the girl’s face and see what was going on in those eyes.

She couldn’t look her aunt in the eyes. “Its just that.. When I was gone.. Mom and dad had other kids..” Wasn’t that proof that they had forgotten about her? That they didn’t have time to look for her? Tears gathered in her eyes as she thought about it. Maybe she should have just stayed in Yael with her friends. Surely their mother would like to keep her.

“Ah..” She took note of the tears and moved her hands to the girl’s face so that she could wipe them before they fell and stained her pretty face. “They did have more kids but it wasn’t because they forgot about you.” Her head shook a little. “We all were looking for you. Each one of us. Even my boys.” And they had been little when their cousin had been taken away.

She blinked as her tears were wiped. Hearing the words that her aunt had for her she nodded her head. She remembered the boys. Not the clearest because her memory of before was still foggy but she did remember them. “Did they really?” She was curious to know where it was they had looked for her since they were just as small as her.

“They did. The boys swore that they could find you if we just let them take a Kinfa.” SHe shook her head slightly. While she was proud that they wanted to find their cousin she wasn’t about to let them take off with another bird. The first time had been scary enough. “I am fairly certain they overturned every rock they could as well.” It was silly but they were little then and thought Elaxi had been hidden somewhere.

She laughed a little at the thought. “Silly.” Just trying to imagine her three cousins going up on a big bird to find her was amusing. Her head shook a little at the thought though. ”They wouldn’t have found me.” She had been too far away. The idea that a kinfa would be high enough or even fly far enough was a nice one but totally not real.

“Maybe not but they didn’t give up.” She lowered her hands from the girl’s face to her shoulders. “None of us did.” SHe made sure that the girl made eye contact with her. “I know your parents told you all this.. So why are you still doubting?” Was there something else that was making the girl unsure?

She sighed a little and lifted her left hand to wipe at her nose gently. “They did.. I just.. I worry that they didn’t want me back.” It was a fear that she’d had even before she got back home. Mostly because it was what had been told to her by the people that took her. Those nightmares had stayed with her.
