Qila 1
While she had gotten to see the tree, even if only from a distance, she didn’t want to stay too much longer. It had already been a week. She’d managed to get someone to draw the tree for her so she could send the image back home to her mother, and as Akel had suggested she’d let her mother know she was alright. Before she left, however, she figured she would say goodbye to the new friend she’d made.

She’d heard that Qila was leaving after only being around for a short period of time. Something about traveling to see the other trees. Why someone would need to go see the others when clearly the best one was right here in Zinris, she didn’t know. Still, she had made her way over to the temporary lodgings of her new friend so that they could part ways.

When she made it out the door, adjusting her pack so that it sat on her back the right way, she noticed that Kyllha was already there. She smiled at the other and gave an awkward wave. “Hey.. I was just coming to look for you.” She was sure that everyone knew that she was leaving by now. One of the elders had asked her earlier in front of a lot of the villagers. Gossip spread fast.

“Yeah yeah..” She huffed slightly as she rolled her eyes. “I already heard that you’re leaving.” It sucked, it meant she would have one less person to play with and annoy. Though she had liked the time she had gotten to spend with her new friend. “Write to me when you make it to the next Mother Tree, yeah?” At least then she would know that Qila was alright.

“Yeah.” She nodded her head. It was as she thought. Kyllha had heard from the others in the village. “I’ll write to you when I get there.” She grinned, letting her excitement seep into her expression. “I’ll let you know that its much better than here.” She teased slightly, reaching out to bump her friend’s shoulder.

With the playful bump to her shoulder she returned with a swat. “Oh you wish somewhere was better than here.” The girl laughed as she shook her head. “I’ll look forward to your letters begging to come back.” A grin covered her features as she motioned for her friend to follow her. “Come on, I’ll walk you out.”

When her friend made a prod at her about begging to return she chuckled. “Maybe.” She did like it here. Though she didn’t think she’d just be allowed to move in. She might need to have a family tie or even a mate within the walls in order to be there all the time. When the offer to be walked out was given she took it. “Oh thanks.” She headed out where her friend motioned. “Is your mother coming too?” Qila had grown to like Akel despite her being a bit prickly.

“No problem.” She waved it off and once Qila was walking she set her pace to match the other’s. When the question about her mother came up she shook her head, sending her dreads swaying along her shoulders. “No. She’s busy. One of the young warriors got bit again.” It happened enough times that she didn’t even blink when she heard about it.

“Ouch. I hope they’ll be okay.” She worried about the person who had gotten bit, but from what she’d learned about her friend’s mother was that she was good at getting venoms and poisons out of the body. It was a good skill to have if you lived in an area filled with them. “Well, tell her I said goodbye.” While she’d have liked to tell her herself she wasn’t going to bother her while she worked.

“They’ll be fine. Mother is on it.” SHe shrugged the situation off as if it were nothing. When Qila said to give her farewells to her mother she nodded. “I will. She’ll be sad she couldn’t come see you off.” She had an inkling that Qila reminded her mother of her cousin Enya.

She followed up with silence since she wasn’t sure how to respond to that. She looked to the side and waved at a few of the Elaria she had gotten to know in the past few days. They were young like her. The older ones had stayed away from her for the most part unless she needed something. It did remind her of home with out uptight the older ones were.

She sighed a bit as they passed a bunch of others. When she noticed their attention she waved as well but beyond that she did nothing else. Once they got close to the outskirts of the village she turned her head to look at her friend. “So will you stop back here on your way home or no?” It would be nice to see her again.

“Hmn?” SHe turned her attention back to Kyllha, her hands returning to her sides as well. “Oh well.. I guess I could if you don’t think anyone would mind.” She would certainly enjoy it. Seeing Kyllha and her mother again would be nice. They felt like family to her. Maybe her older sisters would be back from their travels by the time Qila made it back.

“I’m sure they wouldn’t mind.” SHe knew for a fact her mother wouldn’t. And there were a few girls in the village that wouldn’t mind if Qila stopped by again since they had had fun playing. And gossiping. It was nice to know about the world outside without having to leave their homes. She saw that they were leaving the boundaries of the village and she looked back behind them.

“Then I’ll write to you when I am on my way back home.” That way Kyllha would know when to look for her. As they neared the end of the village she too looked back. It was a bit of nostalgia for her, even if she hadn’t been there long. After a moment she looked forward again. “Its a long road ahead. I’m going to Chibale next. I’d like to see Aisha.”
