Thwack! Odina grunted as she swung a wooden staff against one of the many dummies set up in the training area by Chiume. While she often worked alone, the Vandrea preferring her extreme training to be more remote for less distractions, the destruction of her own training dummy had forced her to roam this way until a replacement was finished. Not that she needed a dummy for training necessarily but it was nice to actually impact something other than air with most sisters avoiding her because of her fierce strength when it came to sparring. Though she also supposed that was thanks to her heritage, her mothers making her feel a bit out of place amongst the other Vandrea despite everything. Not that Odina minded, she loved living on Chiume and was thankful that her family had lingered here even while traveling back and forth between the isles to visit Chibale when possible. Still though it would be nice if she wasn’t completely alone today, the Vandrea did miss having a sparring buddy on occasion especially since her older sisters had decided to venture out into the world. Briallen came back on occasion with gifts for the family, but even she didn’t spar as often while preferring speed over tests of strength. Seiong was just too delicate as much as Odina loved her sister she preferred protecting her to fighting against her and Faenna preferred mischief and earthlings to training.
It was early though. Odina glanced around and wiped a cloth across her brow as she studied the dummy and the dents that she had made in it with her weapon. She much preferred her battle axe but since it was a shared space the Vandrea wanted to avoid breaking the dummy, the risk of making more trouble not worth it as much as she would enjoy the feeling of the blade slicing into something instead of just whacking at a dummy like this. It was also boring that the thing was just standing still, having a moving opponent would be far more thrilling. “No one to challenge me, really?” She asked, glancing around at the empty clearing with a sigh. Of course not. Most would be sleeping still or at least eating breakfast instead of coming all the way out here to fight with the sun barely over the horizon.

Leaving her family's residence early, Ahmanet made her way to the shared training area. Most of the Vandrea enjoyed sleeping in but the drive Ahmanet's mothers had instilled in her insured she did not. Ahmanet was often training, long and intensely, there were few of her sisters that shared her drive but some there were. A voice echoed though the empty space, as Ahmanet approached the training area, the vandrea couldn't stop her lips curve into a smile. How fortuitous she'd been hoping to find a partner to spar with. "I will answer your challenge sister." Ahmanet replied emerging into the training area. Usually it was Ahmanet alone at the time but she wasn't complaining. Ahmanet picked up one of the available wooden staves. She'd had plans to practice with a different weapon today, though she favored her Khopesh. Made of a soft bronze Ahmanet's Khopesh needed to be replaced, they were damaged far to easily. Ahmanet would eventually seek out a blacksmith to produce a new pair from a stronger metal, but for now it gave her more time to practice with other weapons.

"Oh?" There was an immediate spark of life to Odina's expression, the Vandrea's lips curving upwards into a wide grin. "Are you sure? I'm not an easy opponent." She asked, feeling a bit of excitement and surprise that someone had indeed shown up who was willing to spar with her. Had she met this sister before? Maybe she had seen her in passing but this was the first time she was truly interacting with her, partly because of her own distance from the others with her family traveling between here and Chibale while living at the edge of this settlement.
Despite being skeptical, Odina was already moving into position with her stave and twisting it around as if warming up for her first strike. "If so then should I move first or you?" The bulkier Vandrea was accustomed to moving first and asking questions later, but this was a sparring match so she felt it was better to give her opponent a choice. It would be a shame to chase off someone bold enough to approach her, after all!

Odina's spark didn't escape the younger vandrea, but in fact it echoed her own enthusiasm or what would pass as enthusiasm for Ahmanet."All the better." Ahmanet responded waiting for the other sister to move into position. Ahmanet didn't want any sort of easy opponent so she was pleased this one thought so highly of herself hoping she'd be as strong as she claimed. Stretching, she moved Taking her own position Ahmanet readied herself tapping the staff on the ground vertically twice before smacking the end on the ground. Ahmanet was checking it's durability and feeling the give the weapon had when it was struck. Ahmanet Took her stance and waited for Odina to do the same. "If you don't mind," Ahmanet answered, she also prefer to go first first strike often set the tone. The faster one's opponent was defeated the better, but she was also calculating. This Sister was bulkier showing larger muscles, she would more than likely be able to take quite a few hits. Ahmanet felt the stave in her hands and gripped it tightly waiting for Odina to be ready before moving forward swiftly coming in from the side with a lower strike aiming for her lefs to unbalance her early.

Odina watched Ahmanet with interest. Was she testing the staff? Did that give her hope that she wasn’t the only Sister to have shattered one with training before? The very thought brought a grin to the Vandrea’s lips, the berserker energy shining through in her golden gaze as she took her own stance across from her opponent. She tightened her fingers against the staff, the rough wood feeling solid in her hands even as she twisted both palms against it as if testing exactly how resilient it was while waiting for Ahmanet’s first move. It felt like it could stand a few good hits at least which was good considering the quick strike from her opponent.
As soon as there was a sign of movement coming towards her, Odina spread her legs out to ground herself against the oncoming force of Ahmanet’s attack. Her bulk was solid enough to keep her from being easily moved and so Odina leaned into her opponent’s strike with one of her own, the sound of the staffs clashing against each other ringing throughout the training field like thunder. “You’ll have to push harder than that to topple me.” She taunted, that grin crossing her lips as she shoved back against Ahmanet and tried to reposition herself before another attack. Another may have tried to dodge, rolling towards the side but since Odina had simply taken the attack it had only pushed her heels into the ground where she kept her solid stance since she didn’t mind risking a few injuries to get in a good strike of her own. For now though all she could do was push back against that first attack, Odina trying to get a good feeling of the strengths of her opponent even as she waited to truly swing back with an attack of her own.

Noting Odina's quick reflexes in preparation of her strike, Odina seemed to simply take it. The initial strike, told her more about her opponent one she was sturdier than many of her other sparring partners, and two her sparring partner was showing her pride in her strength at least in Ahmanet's estimation. Where her other vandrea partners tended to dodge the strikes this sister decided to meet it head on. "How boring it would be if that wasn't the case." she responded evenly against Odina's taunt, faint echoes of a smile playing on her lips growing more focused. Bait had been laid, Ahmanet had to decide if she'd take it. Ahmanet would strike harder latter, now more certain her sparing partner could handle it. Ahmanet however, began instead launching a flurry of quick jabs and strikes towards Odina, who had yet to launch a counter attack as of yet, something Ahmanet knew would come inevitably.

Odina let out a loud laugh, the Vandrea fully amused by the other sister's reaction. "Good!" She encouraged her with a bright grin. "I like knowing I have an actual opponent! Not bad at all." Even if the jabs ended up in painful bruises and sores later on, Odina knew that she didn't have the speed to completely block them all. Instead she waited for a moment, as the final strikes seemed to come towards her and she twisted her whole body to let out a swing of her own with the staff moving with such momentum that any strike would sound like a clap of thunder if blocked. She wasn't one to hold back and so she hoped her opponent was truly prepared for the strength of her swing with this blow!
