Quote: Prompt 8 (Marshmallow Snow): Fresh-fallen snow coats Destiny City. It’s pristine and crisp, and it crunches as you walk through it. It may be a few inches deep, but it doesn’t seem to go above your calves when walking. At first, it’s easy enough to walk through, but gradually you realize that it’s getting harder to move. Every step you take feels like the snow is pulling you back in, and if you get a good look you might realize that sticky white fluff is clinging to you. The more you walk, the more it pulls, until you’re almost completely stuck. Something about the snow smells oddly sweet, and the tacky, marshmallow-like snow seems like it’s suddenly become a prison. The more you try to break free, the stickier it gets, and you’d better hope you don’t fall down. The more you struggle the harder it is to escape, but if you manage to stay still for a few minutes, the marshmallow will freeze and crystallize. When you move again, the snow will turn into a powdery dust and you can break free easily. The only good thing about this is that you won’t starve if you get trapped–the snow tastes just like marshmallows. Selena drew in a deep breath and exhaled warm air into her hands to warm her frost bitten fingers. Of all the things she'd forgotten to grab, of course gloves would be the thing she left atop her dresser. Could have been worse, she could have forgotten her phone but it was hardly a concern to be disconnected for an hour or so every once in a while. "So," teal-blue eyes slid over to her friend, "how long are you planning to continue living with your aunt? She gave Bryia a nudge with her elbow playfully as they walked down the snow-covered street. There was a light ish dusting on the side walk with a pile about a foot high along the street from where the snow play had pushed it aside earlier in the day.

Bryia rolled her eyes at her question. "When she stops making a big deal about it. She seems to want me to finish out collage while I'm with her. She couldn't tell if her aunt was being overly protective or was just happy to have someone else around the house. No rent was nice but it would be nicer to have a place of her own. Being cooped up inside was kinda the norm for her during the day so this was a nice change of pace. A walk in the fresh air did her some good, even if the snow was strangely sticking to her boots more then normal. It gave her a chance to break in her new snow clothing her aunt had got her. A large snow coat with matching pants, sometimes she couldn't help but thing her aunt was still treating her like a child. Then again her aunt never had any children so maybe this was a small dream come true for her. the outfit wasn't overly childish and was warm so she couldn't complain much. The snow boots where large and seemed a but heavier then she was use to but that may be from the snow sticking to the boots. The cute beanie she'd gotten for her head was a little over kill but she figured it was better then having frozen hair.

”I mean, financially that is probably the best option.” It does make things a bit easier when you don’t have to focus on school while worrying if you’ll be able to pay rent or your cellphone bill at the end of the month. Some people can make it work but not without taking a hit to their mental and physical health with sleepless nights. “Have you at least broached the topic of you and I being roommates together?Doesn’t solve Bryia’s need for solitude but it is an option. Although most places they’d afford to rent would likely be a small two-bedroom apartment which is hard to compare to the house she lives in now. Selene shoved her hands into her coat pocket while she could still feel her fingers a bit and hoped they’d stay warm. The two turned right at the next intersection and the sight of unplowed roads made her inwardly grown. I did not wear the right kind of boots for this They were ankle high instead of the shin and likely wouldn’t be keeping her warm much longer.

The cool air felt nice, though her heavy jacket and gloves kept it from being too cold. "I could try bring that up to her. Don't know if it would change her feelings on the matter."As they continued to walk Bryia noticed it was being harder. Yes the show was sticking to her boots which was normal but this seemed different. Each step took more effort then the last. Though she was mostly recovered from her to near fatal crash she would never fully recover, though that should be effecting her this much. Each step felt like her foot was sinking into a thick foam of snow and the she almost didn't want to give it back like it was made of glue or something. "What is with this snow?" She asked while pulling her foot out for another step that seemed to take more as more effort and move and not fall face first. Every step was taking more then her until finally something had to give and her leg was it. she hadn't been able to pull her foot all the way out and her foot cam crashing back down and she began falling forward. she would have face planed right there in the snow but she had placed one hand down to catch herself which did work. Her hand became covered in snow but it wasn't as cold as she figured it would be. However it was sticky, very sticky. Not at all what snow normally felt like. This was more like liquid glue or a melted marshmallow. She attempted to pull her hand from the snow but then found that too was stock, along with on of her knees that had landed in the snow at the same time.

Selene shrugged her shoulders ”Might as well stick with it for now, keep saving what you have for now, and put it towards something better later.” Not a bad idea all things considered. ”Not many people have that kind of opportunity”When she moved to take another step, Selene was met with an unexpected resistance but with some effort, she was able to pull her foot free of the snow and not lose her boot. ”What the-” Her mouth snapped shut before she blurted out an explicit word. “If this is some sort of practical joke, I’m not laughing…”

Hunched over, shivering slightly, and surrounded by thick blankets of snow, Bryia wanted to pounds her fist against something if it wasn't stuck. frustration etched deeply into her features. With each breath, visible puffs of steam escape her lips, a testament to the cold. Bryia yelled, "Seriously?! This is unbelievable! How could this happen?!"She peers through the snowfall at her stuck hand and knee before looked for some assistance from Selene. She lifted her hand, looking to be pulled free from whatever was keeping her stuck to the ground "Great, just great! Could you help me out of... whatever this is?"Frustration is starting to boil over as she attempts kicking at the snow, but the cold just seeping through her boots, gnawing at her toes. A sudden feeling of vulnerability washes over her, Bryia's anger mixes with fear, a volatile concoction brewing within her as she waits, hoping against hope for a flicker of salvation amidst the icy abyss.

Selena glanced around them to see if any pedestrian was near enough to see or hear them. “I can try.” The streets seemed clear enough however that didn’t mean someone wasn’t nearby hiding. If she sensed someone after powering up then she’d have to leave Bryia here to keep her safe. From her pocket she withdrew the henshin pen and, after a moment’s hesitation, powered up. Her warm winter clothes were replaced by a gymnast-style fuku made out of some cosmic spandex material that repaired itself if damaged in a battle just by powering down and back up again. A wondrous thing, sure, but not practical to wear in the wintertime. The asymmetrical design left one arm and shoulder exposed to the elements as well as one leg. Note to self, take my coat off first so I have something warm to wear. Lesson from the learned, but nothing to do about it now. “O-ok,” she stammered as a chill raced up her spine. “Don’t move, please.” Pherkad raised a hand above her head where a magical fan seemed to appear. With a snap of her wrist, the fan opened up and with a sweeping motion, she waved the fan at Bryia’s feet. “Wind Blades!” A gust of air picked up as three gold glowing crescent-shaped blades formed and were propelled forward at staggered distances.

Bryia found herself trapped, her heart pounding in her chest as she struggled against whatever held her. She felt panic rising within her, desperation clawing at her throat as she looked to Pherkad for help. Her voice cut through the chaos as she transformed, her hands already moving in intricate gestures as she summoned her magic. But instead of the comforting sensation of being pulled free, Bryia felt something else entirely. A surge of power, cold and unfamiliar, wrapped around her, sending shivers down her spine. Fear gripped her tightly as she hoped Pherkad's aim was true. "Pherkad, what are you doing?! What if you miss?!" Bryia's voice trembled with both fear and confusion, her eyes widening as she watched the magic at work. Desperation fueled her movements as she tried to break free, her mind racing with a thousand thoughts. What if she's trapped forever? What if she can't undo what's been done? As the attack hit, nothing happened at first. Then, slowly, ever so slowly, Bryia began to feel it weaken, like a knot coming undone. With one final effort, Bryia's knee and foot broke free, but her hands were still stuck. With each tug, her frustration grew, her embarrassment mounting as she realized she was now embarrassingly bent over, her rear in the air as she desperately tried to wrench her hand free from the ground. "Could this get any worse?!"

“Probably…” Pherkad tried to stifle a burst of laughter at Bryia’s literal sticky situation and compromising position. “I’m not sure what else I can do at this point other than try my magic again.” But if she were to fall over completely then that would make this a whole lot worse for her. “Up to you if you want me to try again. Otherwise, I can go knock on someone’s door and ask for a cup of hot water to maybe melt it?” Any other suggestion would be welcome as well.

Bryia blushed furiously, her cheeks matching the color of the snow beneath her. "I... fine," she mumbled, trying to sound nonchalant despite the awkwardness of her situation. Bryia hesitated for a moment, pride warring with practicality. Despite for statement she knew things could be worse and it would be better to tempt fate no longer. Her hand stuck to the ground and the chill seeping into her bones, she finally relented. "Okay, let's just get on with it." She murmured, feeling a mixture of relief and embarrassment wash over her.

“Ok, one last time then. Just don’t fall over, please.” Pherkad mimicked the motion before, feeling a bit more confident in her aim, and released her magic at the snow that held fast onto Bryia’s hand. A wave of relief washed over her when her friend pulled herself free from it and stood up. Without skipping a beat Pherkad moved forward and placed a hand on Bryia’s back to steady her. ”Easy there,” she commented before powering down. The last thing either of them needed was to draw unwanted attention from the Negaverse or one of their youma. Sure, she could possibly lure them away, but with how unpredictable the snow was in this area, she didn’t think it was wise to risk getting stuck herself especially when she was already down two of her three attacks. “What do you say we turn back the way we came and head home? I’m sure your aunt still has some of that hot cocoa mix.”

As Bryia felt the bonds of her captivity loosen, she blinked in disbelief, her heart pounding with a mixture of hope and fear. "Thank you," Bryia breathed, her voice barely a whisper. Bryia rose, her legs unsteady. But having Pherkad there gave her strength. As Bryia shook the snow from her clothes, she furrowed her brow, perplexed by the unusual stickiness of the snow. "That was odd," she muttered to herself, looking around at the pristine white landscape. Approaching a nearby tree, she inspected the snow beneath it, wondering if there was anything peculiar about it. "Hmm... Maybe there's something in the snow that's making it stick together like that," she mused aloud, bending down for a closer look. After a few moments of finding nothing, whatever it was seemed to be gone now. "Yeah, we can go back now," She followed Selene as the two walked back home to the warmth and safety of her aunt's house, and hopefully something hot to drink.
