Cahira paced around her training hall. The older building was a short walk away from her mother’s dance studio in Matori, the location a perfect spot along the Matori-Oban border to attract visitors from either country. Though her mother’s place felt a bit fancier at this point since Cahira had refused to rely solely upon her family’s support and instead wanted to start from scratch with an older estate to turn it into her school for swordsmanship. Over the years it had slowly come together, the worn stone floors slowly taken apart and replaced by heavy mat flooring that helped to cushion any falls while training and the rotten wooden walls had been taken out in favor of paper panels that divided areas for training with a main room that was long and wide with some wooden dummies set up for days when the weather was not favorable. Sunlight flickered in from the numerous windows, the wooden panels surrounding some clear and colored glass squares which kept the place safe from rain but also allowed in plenty of light. Her favorite area though was the long pavilion attached to the training hall, the older stone pillars keeping the roofing in place while allowing in a fresh breeze since there were no walls here as it led to the outer courtyard. The teal tiles on top of the training school roof were vibrant and one of the main reasons she had decided to go with this place despite its original worn down state and even with a few patches here and there the hybrid was quite proud of how it was going along. There were some wandering students, perhaps not quite as many as her brother’s dancing school in Sulburi, but it was enough to help build up coin alongside her own part-time work whenever someone needed help in the area. She was honestly just happy helping the locals to learn some defense and sharing different training styles with upcoming swordsmen and the like. Today she was expecting another visitor, the sister of Elias who was her very first pupil and had helped her inspiration for the school in the first place. Cahira just hoped that she could help the girl find whatever weapon suited her, the array of daggers and swords spread out across a nearby table a sign that she had gone ahead to prepare whatever she could for today’s lesson.

“I think that’s good, right?” She mused before deciding to venture towards the entrance of the building to keep an eye out for Elenora’s approach.

Elenora had gone with her mother many times to the dance studio, to watch and learn, but recently her brother had started to vanish when he'd come with her and Elenora didn't know why. So she started keeping tabs on the times he'd vanish and the direction he'd gone. Eventually Elenora had laid enough groundwork tailed him, covertly. There was a mystery a foot! Elenora couldn't just let it go.

She'd followed Elias down a nearby road finding there was another school rundown, but Elenora could tell it was still being worked on. With further observation Elenora had noticed it was for swordsmanship, suddenly her brother's improvement over the years made sense he'd become a lot more disciplined and less hyper. Elenora had not been as good at hiding as she'd hoped she'd quickly been been caught by the school's founder Cahira.

Swordsmanship however, wasn't something she was uninterested in, to the contrary Elenora did also want to learn, though not for the same reasons as Elias. Elenora wanted to solve the mysteries of the world, but she was practical the world wasn't exactly a safe place she'd been to be able to protect herself. As such Elenora made a promise to return.

The day had come and Elenora made her way up the road by herself this time. The bright roof of the building came into view as she headed for the entrance she saw Cahira. Elenora greeted the woman politely, and was eager to start learning.

You made it!” Cahira was a bundle of energy, the swordswoman eager to welcome the younger girl into her school. She pointed out a few loose tiles that were piled together along the entrance path, an apology slipping from her lips. “We’re still working on a few areas, so just watch your step.” And then just like that she took Elenora towards the main training hall where the display of weapons waited for them.

I know you wanted to learn some fighting, but do you know what styles?” She asked with a smile. “I brought some daggers, knives, swords and even a training staff. I know a little bit of everything after traveling and training for so many years.” It wasn’t even to brag, just a simple explanation of why so many weapons were gathered and how she was confident in teaching the basics of most if not all of them.

Giving Cahira a smile, she brought her hand to her chest "Thank you for having me," she spoke giving a polite bow. Her mother had given her many etiquette lessons which she had lapped up considerably along with whatever else she could, music dance, she'd raided the library, learning as much about the work as she could, plant and animal identification she'd even done her best to learn how to swim, and climb rather precariously for unexpected situations.

Having noticed the tiles earlier Elenora opted not to mention anything unless she hadn't first, it was rude, so she simply answered "Thank you I'll be careful where I step." Soaking up most knowledge like a sponge as soon as new routes were available she was certainly interested in them. Elenora regarded the tiles and made her way around them following Cahira.

"As many as I can master." she answered honestly still trying sounding older than she was. Some certainly might be a bit more difficult for her, but she wanted to learn some solely just to counter. If she knew the styles ahead of time she'd be able to protect herself, Knowing was half the battle.

“You’re welcome.” Cahira gave a small respectful nod of her head in return, “Thank you for trusting me to mentor you.” She knew how to return the acknowledgement, her own etiquette lessons showing though there was a gleam of amusement in those amber eyes at the exchange. It didn’t surprise her that Elenora had manners, it made sense with the family history and what she knew about them from spending so much time with Elias. It made her optimistic that their lessons would go fairly well, Cahira expecting an attentive student from the girl who followed her through the hall. Not that she minded working with a rougher student who could be reckless, but it was nice to be able to get through a lesson without worrying about a training dummy being demolished by someone’s temper within the first few minutes. Though maybe Elenora could surprise her? Cahira was curious to see exactly what type of fighting spirit the other girl would bring to the lessons. I suppose we’ll see soon enough.

Well, there was confidence and plenty of interest at least. Cahira chuckled at the response, going over to pick up a staff first and holding it out for Elenora. “I suppose this will be a good start then. We can see how you manage with the staff and work on building up the strength behind your strikes. Teaching you about every style is one thing, but building up the strength to be able to fight back is just as important.” She gestured towards a training dummy set up towards the end of the hall, the worn wood more than ready for another beating from a fresh student. “Take this staff and go strike at the dummy. I would like to see how you approach it and what you feel is the proper form.” It would give her a good idea of exactly what type of student she was working with, something Cahira was truly curious about.
