Prompt 13 (Winter Rainbow): Winter weather is usually fairly predictable–clouds, rain, snow, and a sunny day if you’re lucky. It’s unwise to predict anything in Destiny City, though. Lately, there’s been an uptick in unnatural rainbows. The sky almost regularly seems to be covered with some sort of pastel shimmer. The clouds have a rainbow sheen to them during all weather, and more than once you can even make out a rainbow from just the moon’s beams. Scientists claim there are just many water crystals in the air–and that checks out. During the frequent snows, it’s common to observe soft rainbow snowflakes that catch the light like tiny suncatchers. Even fallen snow seems to have an iridescent sheen to it. It’s not a common occurrence, but it’s happening often enough that you're likely to see it at least once this season.

Even if he was a Polaris Knight and dressed for colder weather, that did not mean that Alphabet liked going out during the winter as much as he did during the warmer seasons. Or at least as a civilian. Anything he had to do as a civilian in the winter he tried to stay within the apartment as much as possible, or head into some heated building if he needed to actually step out into the cold to get something that couldn’t be delivered. Thank goodness for more delivery options at least, even if they were a bit more expensive.

He still didn’t carryout food to be delivered though.

Which is why it was only when he was out at night, looking once again through his telescope at the sky during the cold night, that he was able to see the unusual rainbows that Cynthia had been talking about and had taken a few pictures of. It was definitely different from any aurora that may have been seen. Pastel colored shimmer and multi colored layers, it was quite beautiful and he had sent out a text to Cynthia to join him if she could. She may not however as while her uniform’s magic kept her somewhat warm, it wasn’t enough to make her want to go outside all that much during the winter. He couldn’t blame her. After all he often had to take his cloak off during the summer.

But he wanted to see if he could capture it himself and tried to take a few photos with his phone, only barely getting the image that he wanted within them. It was good enough however. He liked to look and experience things in the moment. Cynthia was the one who liked to record their memories and he told her how often he appreciated it. Enjoying the moment was always good, but being able to remember it just by looking at a capture photo could deliver happy feelings and others as well, depending on the subject, and it was something that could be appreciate. A documentation of what happened.

He had asked her for copies of her photos for all of the unusual things that happened in Destiny City. Even if his Wonder wasn’t on Earth, he wanted to make some sort of recording of them, just to show all of the strange things that could happen, which was why he had started a bit of scrap-booking to keep them on his Wonder. Even if he had been unable to read the various books within the library, he could keep a collection of events that happened on Earth and easily mark it for others, so that they would be able to find it with or without the ability to read the English he put in there. And it was a fun activity to do with his girlfriend!

Tonight though was another night of just gazing at the stars, taking notes of their positions, seeing if anything had changed or if he could see something that the scientists of Earth could not, and keeping an eye out for any Agents that decided that they wanted to try and ruin the season by draining energy.
