He could have gone home, teleporting was a rather easy thing for him, but he didn’t want to deal with Hudson when he turned up a bloody mess. That left a few options and one was a hospital but he really didn’t like hospitals, it also meant medications he wasn’t likely to want to deal with, and a file and his name somewhere on that file. Nope, he’d rather keep things as silent as he possibly could.

That left him hoping his cousin was in a good mood and didn’t mind the sudden visit. He wasn’t worried his cousin would have someone over, he had a feeling his cousin had one thing in common with a nun and a relationship with Jesus wasn’t it. Teleporting to his younger cousins door he powered down, his hand holding onto his side as blood pooled around his fingers as it soaked into his clothing.

“Here goes nothing.” Because he knew the other would have some questions, and he was a terrible liar. Banging on the door he held his breath as he stood there blinking his eyes to keep the spots at bay. He’d gotten into a rough fight with a knight, and they were no longer amongst the living, he had their starseed in pocket space. As he shifted and moved to lean on the others door frame. He really shouldn’t have worn a light colored sweater tonight and it was cashmere, he’d never be getting the stains out and he could smell the coppery metallic scent of blood - his blood. “********…” He hadn’t thought the knight would toss away their tinker toy and stab him with a scrap of metal they’d found on the ground. ******** little knight…and they had been little, and not just because they were short in stature, they were a basic knight with no power and no rank to ******** dead at least.” Cursing as he let his head fall forward, bangs falling into his eyes.

“He’s not gonna like the blood on the wall….” It would raise questions with other people and he doubted Lorcan would like that. “Lorc, please.” For a moment he wondered if he should do like he’d done when they were children and he wanted something from his more serious cousin, he used to whinge for the others attention, Lorcan might not find it amusing but he really felt a bit pitiful right now. He’d been stabbed by a ******** baby knight.

Moving his knight from B1 to C3, he switched sides and played from the other point of view. It was something he did from time to time when nobody was around to play but no sooner had he touched the pawn which stood in E7, did he hear a knock at his door. Looking up at the clock, it was too late for anyone other than family. Standing up from the board, he smoothed his sweater a bit and walked over to his door. Everything had its place and everything was in order as he unlocked each of the three locks on his door. There was no peephole because this was a door that was meant to be unbreakable. He’d taken extra measures given the nature of his work and the fact he sometimes had medications and chemicals here in his side room and basement for if he had to handle a family member as a patient at home. It was easier at times than heading to the clinic but it had required the extra steps and adjustments to his otherwise minimalist home.

What he was not expecting to see was Alexandre, making a mess of his porch. He didn’t bother turning the light on to see, he could smell blood on them. Hissing slightly through his teeth, he grabbed them by the arm and pulled them inside, he’d grab the bleach to clean up later after he found out what was going on. As long as it was gone before the sun rose there wouldn’t be a problem, his neighbors knew he was a doctor and even stopped by from time to time for help with things.

Dragging them past his furniture and carpeting to that side room that was a makeshift office, he sat his cousin down on the chair and turned on the overhead lighting. It hummed and buzzed for a moment before letting off its harsh cool white light to reveal the bloody mess his cousin was. Pressing his palm to his forehead he sighed, this was going to be another mess to clean up before any other patients stopped by.

“What happened? I highly doubt you went into the wrong part of town for a run because you’re not even in your jogging clothes or shoes.” Looking at the sweater, dress pants, and nicer shoes, they looked like they’d been out at an event more than anything else. Turning back towards the cabinets, he started pulling out a few different kits for stitching things up and disinfecting wounds. “Take your sweater off while explaining things, I want to get you patched up so you don’t bleed all over my home.” Tone flat but not wholly cold, they knew he liked keeping to a schedule even if he did offer his services whenever the family asked.

Lorcan was a blessing to see, even if he doubted his cousin was pleased to see him making such a mess, something he’d never normally do. Yelling as he was pulled inside and dragged to the more clinical part of the others home, so he didn’t make a mess of carpeting and other things, he let himself slump into a chair.

Reaching up, slowly, as he hissed in pain his sweater was removed slowly. There was a reason he’d been avoiding his cousin and check ups and things. He’d been not going to Lorcan so he didn’t see the scars he’d accumulated over the years. From a very old stab wound at his side to what had been a burn in the back of his shoulder. It was all there along with more tattoo ink than any would suspect he had, no one in his family had a reason to see how much ink he had, though he couldn’t hide all of it.

Letting his sweater hit the ground, he’d throw it out later, as he settled himself as he took a few slow breaths. “At least this is tolerable.” He’d had worse, he’d had a lot worse, this wasn’t as bad as it could be even though it was messy.

“No, I didn’t go for a run and wind up in the wrong part of town. That would be easy to handle, I might have actually preferred it.” He could handle a drug dealer, in most cases, and a pimp was easy for him to take down. “Got into a fight with one of those causing trouble in the city.” The easy way to refer to a knight or a senshi without saying what they were or stretching the truth too much, Lorcan might notice. This was not the first time he’d used the same excuse but it had worked in the past, when he’d been a lot younger, to excuse himself from family functions…before he’d stopped going for a long time. Now he was involved again and here he was seeking Lorcan out late night rather than Tom or the hospital the Negaverse ran.

By the time turned back around, he heard the sweater falling to the ground. The wet sound it made sent him grumbling at the mess it made. Scars, burns, ink, all the things that scattered his cousin made him narrow his eyes. Pulling gloves on, he stepped closer and set the various kits on a small wheeled stand that stood beside the chair.

No wonder he stopped coming in for checkups….

Leaning in he took a look at the tear in their side, it was far from clean so it couldn’t have been a knife. There was serious doubt on his face as he looked at his cousin while he started cleaning the wound to get a better look at things. “Uh huh.. So you with all your infinite size and strength decided to play vigilant against things that go bump in the night? It wasn’t a knife was it? There are paint chips in the wound, try telling the truth this time or I will use the biggest needle to stitch you back up.” He wouldn’t abide by a lying patient even if they were his cousin, it got in the way of his work, of his process and he wouldn’t have that even if the queen of England knocked on his door.

Pulling a small wheeled stool over, he adjusted the height and sat on it so he could start picking things out with tweezers. Bits of the sweater, some strands of another fabric, and paint chips littered his side where it was open. It almost looked like there was a bit of rust but it was impossible to tell with the blood. Once it was picked clean and most of the extra blood wiped away with antiseptic, he leaned back up and grabbed for the next small kit. Holding up the biggest and the standard needle, he waved them by their face. He wouldn’t do anything extra to hurt a patient but scare tactics helped keep things running smoothly at times. He wasn’t as heavy-handed with them outside of his family though.

“Truth be told it looks more like someone got you with a ruined scrap of metal maybe from a road sign or old can. I should have a tetanus shot just in case for you. Last chance to tell the whole truth cousin. Choose wisely.” Watching them with a flat expression, there was a bit of annoyance on his face. Asking about the rest would have to come later and he would make sure of it, even if he had to adjust his schedule to accommodate for things. The weekend was coming so work could be left for the following week, and he could set aside his trips to the park for chess for another weekend.

“It was, from what I could tell, the remains of a street sign. And yes, I did believe I could handle myself and typically I can, my size aside, I’m more than capable.” He’d gotten himself into more than enough fights and battles over the years. He bore the marks from all the times he’d run into a fight without much worry over potential injuries.

Having bits of fabric, paint and other things removed had not been fun and likely was the cause for more bleeding, and a wave of dizziness which hit him. Shaking his head he couldn’t help the smile which blossomed across his face, nothing anyone normally saw unless they were looking at Benitoite and not Alexandre Evans. “At least the one who did this is dead.” He’d left their body where he’d finished them as well, messy as that might be. He’d been in a rush to get here to get help.

“The truth is I got into a fight with a reborn alien who decided that fighting me was a brilliant idea when I out rank them in all ways possible. I got stabbed and they died and I have their soul in my pocket, I am considering a jar for it and leaving it kn my bedside table since I do not need to explain it to anyone.” Since he was once again single. Even if he hadn’t been he wouldn’t have had to explain it to Mason, though he wasn’t entirely sure what they’d think of someone’s soul on his bedside table glowing away from inside a mason jar.

He was certain, even as he spoke, that Lorcan wouldn’t believe him but it was no secret in their family that he could not lie and so didn’t lie - ever. He just stretched things if he had to, even then it tended to be obvious though. “You don’t need to numb the area for the stitches. Not the first time.” He’d had crude ones done at home with nothing before, he’d live, he’d just need to muffle himself somehow.
PostPosted: Thu Dec 28, 2023 8:19 pm

Huffing for a moment he pulled the needles out of their line of sight and prepped the standard-sized one. “I highly doubt that from what I can see all over you. You look as if you’ve been sent through a wood chipper and then thrown into a house fire. If this is why you’ve been absent for a while, we’ve all noticed. I figured it was related to your classes or another one of those men you find yourself with although I guess you currently are without.” He’d seen a bit of it and noticed the cycle of appearances and disappearances over the years. It wasn’t his place to say things in public about it but this was his home and he was about to start stitching them back together.

That smile though, was one he knew all too well from looking in the mirror. It was self-satisfying if not a bit morbid to witness, not that it phased him much. If anything it made this all the more interesting. Eyebrow raised as they went on about souls and aliens, he couldn’t really believe it but he knew they weren’t really good at lying. “So did this alien just disappear after they died or are you the reason there have been bodies littering the alleyways around the jogging routes.” It wasn’t quite accusatory but he had noticed things as of late, it had been a point of his to keep up on crimes and disappearances in case they ended up in his clinic or the morgue that was next door. He’d made himself known to the kind young mortician since moving into the office space and she was quite loose-lipped on gossip.

Needle ready, he did one more good round of antiseptic before starting to stitch the wound closed. Offering up a wooden tongue depressor for them to bite on if needed, the walls were thick enough to keep the sound in but he preferred them not to make too much noise. It was something he’d done before, day in and day out after a weekend of drunks managed their way to his clinic. All of them were sons and daughters of the well-to-do who wanted to avoid being seen in an emergency room. “I still don’t believe you really, souls don’t exist it’s all folk tales like the witches that were burned at the stake.” It had been something his side of the family had a history of, before marrying into the larger Evans family. Magic and things like that fell away to more respectable and logical careers such as his position as a doctor or his father’s as an engineer.

“Now stay still.” Working through their skin, he went about things in the same order as always. Like a well-oiled machine, his hands worked through the task steadily and quickly. The whole process only took a few minutes and he checked the tension as he went along. With luck, it wouldn’t scar like the other ones that littered his cousin’s torso. Whoever had patched him up had done a s**t job and he hated to see work that wasn’t up to his standards.

“A wood chipper?” Raising a brow at his cousin's description of himself, or rather his body. “I’m mildly offended. As for a burning house…perhaps a burning warehouse would be a better option to go with.” He had over twelve years seen and done a lot…and had a lot done to himself. Some of it showed on his body, how could it not, but more importantly it had without a doubt altered who he was as an adult. He wasn’t whoever he might have once been, had he not joined the Negaverse, he knew that and couldn’t find it in himself to care. Though he was curious from time to time.

“So good to know people have noticed, though I’m glad no ones asked me what my absences were about.” He was also glad no one had bothered him about his personal affairs with people, he didn’t know how to answer that either. It was easy to answer but going beyond surface level became difficult since it was all Negaverse related in some way. He’d done his best to blend his lives but that meant such a simple conversation was no longer so simple. It meant a lot of conversations were harder to have, without leaving out gaping bits.

“I left their body behind, I really don’t care enough about them to clean up. And I don’t tend to go for the joggers, though I have on occasion, but I also will visit the red light district to grab a few people from there.” He didn’t like to kill normal civilians, not those along the jogging paths he used, but the red light district…that was where he’d leave bodies. No one really thought about those people…they somehow didn’t count to most of society. It made it easy and that was fine with him.

Stitching, especially without anything for the pain, was not a pleasant experience. He almost bit through the depressor, the poor thing had dents in it from his teeth, as he tried to stifle himself as best he could. It didn’t stop the tears from filling his eyes nor from falling down his cheeks and dripping off his chin. It didn’t stop the shake to his hands, nor the rest of himself, and it didn’t help the cold sweat. But once it was over and he had blinked away the spots, and taken enough calming breaths he was able to pull himself together.

“I’m fairly certain I can prove my claims.” Another deep breath, and another, and than he was pushing himself up slowly seeing as the stitching was done. “For the last twelve years I’ve been risking myself in a war.” As much as he wanted to stretch, and work out the muscles which were sore from strain, he didn’t because that would be no good for his side right now. He also had a feeling Lorcan might scold him if he pulled a stitch, or did anything to hurt himself further.

“Hudson joined a few years back, he didn’t have much of a choice. I wasn’t going to let him on the other side so I took him for mine.” Shrugging as he moved slowly, testing his weak, jelly feeling, legs. Feeling so weak was no good, he disliked it, he didn’t like giving to his own bodies weaknesses. It was as he moved, slowly, that he decided to power up. The fair skin soon covered by layers of fabric while his pants had changed and boots replaced shoes. He looked as posh as ever, regal even perhaps, but there was something else there and it wasn’t a physical something. As he turned something else appeared..a long weapon which was good for distance fighting but not close in.

“A war for this city…as everywhere else has already been won. This city is the only remaining hold out.” And for what reason he didn’t know. The senshi and knights here pitter pattered about and didn’t fight them like they should…not since that invasion. It was like they’d lost their teeth and now just nipped at them. “And this.” With his free hand he pulled from pocket space the soul of the knight. “Is a soul…a starseed.” Setting it down as he powered down, he didn’t want to risk it even if he felt no one nearby. Standing there, looking over his shoulder, his finger tips hovered over the starseed while he stood shirtless once more.

“Crush it and they will never be reborn…keep and they will be in time reborn. Everyone has one…some shine brighter than others…some are cracked.” His own was, without a doubt, far darker than this knights starseed. Having been corrupted by the darkness he’d invited and welcomed into himself. “The knight this belonged to served some senshi…some magic wielder, I couldn’t care to find out who. Senshi and knights…they fight on the same side…at least most of them do. Some have chosen the right side….others.” Trailing off as he spoke.
PostPosted: Thu Dec 28, 2023 8:21 pm

“That or a blender perhaps? I would hope you weren’t involved with the burning of the sleep clinic. I had referred a few people that way who were more inclined to seek less… scientific solutions to their sleep issues.” That next answer stirred something in him, it was sloppy to leave things like that behind though he couldn’t outright say things like that. Even if picking off those less likely to be cared about by society, someone always noticed in the end. The thought of it bothered him if only a little.

They’d stayed mostly quiet even if they started to shake a bit as he neared the worst part of the job. With everything done, he’d rolled back with the stool to remove his gloves and put the kit in the sink to rinse off and dispose of later in the biohazard sharps bin. Ears perked up at the mention of Hudson, it had been a bit since he’d seen them as well but their disappearances were farther and fewer between. Turning back around, Alexandre didn’t look like himself anymore. It was odd and he held his scalpel tightly in his grip and pointed towards them as a weapon appeared, family or not the appearance of magic set off long-standing habits from his heritage.

As whatever trick they’d done ended, he stared at the crystal that seemed to almost glow and hover above their hand. A question began to form as that deep hatred for magic started to show as disgust on his face as they mentioned magic users. Standing up, still holding the scalpel, he walked over to the starseed thing and examined it carefully. It made no sense, had no exact correlation with anything he knew of in a logical or scientific sense yet he had also just seen his cousin change into and back out of another form as easy as breathing. It had been an odd feeling, as his mind tried to separate them as two different people until logic forced the two images on top of each other to reassert they were both the same person, his cousin.

“So the witch hunts are back out of the dark ages?” His voice dripped with cold and icy poison as a small and terrifying smile crept across his face. “I guess legacies are harder to kill than I thought, though it was a Cosgrove one not one of the Evans family. So are you in need of a better medic, because whoever patched you up did a s**t job and shouldn’t be anywhere near wound care, or is there an opportunity to pick up a family tradition?”

Watching his cousin, slate eyes almost weary, he knew his cousin could be dangerous but not like this. He could nearly feel it and to be honest it sent a thrill up him, it was like when he got into a battle. The same thrill, the same want to hurt and see others hurt, and dead, and Lorcan was holding that scalpel as if he might just try and stab the starseed he left sitting on the table top.

“Something like that. These senshi and their knights were reborn from space. They lived there over a thousand years ago, peaceful and not here on Earth. When their homes fell, when the Moons Kingdom fell, they were reborn here rather than there.” Gesturing above them, towards space. “Because their planets were dead. The faction I joined is out to remove them…or bring them to our side.” Though he knew every agent was also a reborn knight but they didn’t awaken to that, at least most didn’t. He hadn’t allowed Hudson and he had chosen the Negaverse for himself.

“I have one doctor on my team…but I have been thinking about recruiting more from our family. I’d rather have family at my side in a fight to be honest.” Smiling more as he spoke, eyes gleaming, he watched his cold as ice cousin and reached out to place a hand on his shoulder. “I asked someone with no medical training to tend to the injuries. I couldn’t back then go to a hospital. Now we own one in this city.” And he could have gone there tonight but he hadn’t. He’d sought out family because family was everything…as Lorcan well knew.

“If you don’t mind a little pain for power I can give you the power. I can’t promote you but I can give you that first bit of power. I could always use a medic and I think you’d like to resurrect a family tradition.” He wouldn’t avoid telling his cousin that it would hurt, it always did, each time one got a bit more power it hurt, more and more, but it was worth it. The power was worth it and whoever said good things came without pain?

“I can do that…I can do it tonight if you want it. Or do you want to think about it?”
PostPosted: Thu Dec 28, 2023 8:26 pm

Setting down the scalpel, he started going through the pros and cons of things from the information he’d just been presented with. It was a quick bit of work with some of his own assumptions thrown in. Jaw working as he stared at the starseed for a moment more before looking back towards Alexandre. “I feel conflicted about bringing witches into the fold but if there is a good enough leash on them maybe I can tolerate it. It sounds interesting and I feel like I have a duty to make sure you get treated properly and not by some charlatan.” Tone falling flatter at that last bit, his disgust over a job done poorly very apparent.

“Family is family though and secrets are things that need to be kept close just as weaknesses are. Power may not be as attractive to me but I can’t turn down an offer from you Alexandre we both know that. As long as I can continue keeping things to a standard that I prefer, as well as keeping my schedule running smoothly, you can rely on me to be there and discreet.” Corpses spoke more than he had when it came to secrets but he wouldn’t allow his schedule to be interrupted by what he’d consider a hobby.

“I feel like pain just makes someone stronger so that doesn’t bother me but are you sure that you are up for something like that? You still look rough, almost like your legs are still deciding if it’s worth it to hold you up.” Sitting back down on his stool, he raised it up so he was still almost at eye level with his cousin. “Though if you have doubts I can understand that as well. I think I have enough information between you and what I’ve noticed over the years to make an educated decision so I don’t see a need to delay the inevitable.”

“Indeed, family is family, and that is why I joined. I didn’t wish to allow others, strangers, to fight a war in our name. If they lost, causing everyone to lose, to the senshi and knights it would be due to not fighting hard enough. Not as I would, and have, in order to keep us safe.” At least that was what had been in his mind at that time. He would make a difference…because he had something to fight for - because he was better. He didn’t want someone else fighting to keep him safe because what vested interest did they have?

“I don’t have doubts, I want to make sure you understand what I mean by war. People die, I’ve been carried out of a burning building that took others lives. I’ve seen behind the scenes, what really happens, the bank that burnt down…the sleep center. I know what happened, I was there even though I arrived late.” Taking a breath he kept his eyes on his cousin, who was so close to himself in age. They were only a month apart in age, Lorcan he’d grown up with.

“We, both of us and Hudson, every officer in the Negaverse is a reborn or descendant of a knight. We just did not awaken here as one. The potential is there to be a knight. Knights serve various planets, the moon, mars, ect…they have a theme and some small amount of magic dealing with that. Their weapon is better labeled as a tinker toy. We at least get a weapon in the end - they do not. Senshi are from all over the cosmos and they do have magic from the start and they gain more as they gain in strength. The magic varies between them each…they are harder to figure out…more dangerous and unpredictable like that. In a battle…it can become a mess.” He’d kept a notebook, or a few by now, in his room where he kept a record of which senshi and knights he’d run into and names as well as magics and weapons.

“I have information on them, to help, I can show you the ropes and keep you safe. I can introduce you to Tom, a doctor who I brought in, he is not the one who stitched me up. He’s the one I had him give me some sleeping pills so I could stop panicking over the new run of spiders this past fall.” He really did not like spiders, the panic attacks he got were real, he was just glad it hadn’t ever gotten him killed. “I think he’s been busy with some experiments…I’m fairly certain I remember him mentioning wanting humans to test things on.” Something Lorcan could do as well if he wanted. He just wanted the other to see the whole picture before he decided.

“If you are sure of this I can do it. I don’t need my legs for this, just my hands and my own power.” He could bring his beloved cousin in and feel a little bit lighter..someone else would know and it was a bit less of a secret.
PostPosted: Thu Dec 28, 2023 8:29 pm

“I think I would prefer to serve family than some planet or space object. Something tangible and grounded to reality.” Looking at his cousin he nodded, they’d drifted apart a bit over the years but he’d always tried looking out for them. “It gives me more ways to keep tabs on you too and I think I would prefer that. You always seem to be getting in trouble and it’s bothered me over the years. Especially now that I can see what you’ve put yourself through”

“You’ll have to introduce me to him then, I enjoy meeting other professionals and exchanging information. It helps both parties improve and gain new viewpoints on how to practice medicine as it can always get better. As for keeping me safe, I appreciate things but it might be the other way around?” He knew his own work was good but there was always room to improve and he knew it, even if he didn’t show it to anyone else.

“Let’s begin?” Offering his hand to shake as if they were fulfilling a verbal contract, he let out a deep breath as he cleared his thoughts to prepare for whatever pain was coming.

“I’ll be sure to introduce you to Tom, I think you two well get on rather well.” For a lot of reasons actually, if he were to take the time to think about it. Both had enough similarities to get on well, and go out hunting together, it would be a hell of a team for any senshi or knight to run into especially when Lorcan made it to General. He had no doubt his cousin would make to to the same rank as himself and Tom.

“Serving family is what we all do, it is a worthy cause.” More than anything else, as he’d been learning over the years. “I have a feeling doing this is going to gift me a nanny of sorts in you.” Laughing softly as he powered up once more. “If nothing else I am sorry for the worry I know I’ve caused you over the years. I’ve tried to protect the family while not letting anyone know about this. I didn’t want to drag anyone else into this.” And risk them. But Hudson had happened by accident, he couldn’t allow the other to awaken as a knight.

“And it seems a relationship, anything like others in our family have, will be near impossible for me. I’ve been trying.” Because that was what he wanted…he wanted a balance in his life and he wanted what other members had in their relationships. He just couldn’t find it. Pressing his lips to both of his cousins cheeks as an apology for the pain he would bring him. “We can keep each other safe.” And his hand, gloved now as he had powered up whilst speaking, pressed to his cousins chest and sunk past clothing and, flesh and more to reach what it sought. He’d moved back enough so that Lorcan could watch, assuming he might find some fascination in this, as he grasped the starseed he found he pushed the energy in. He knew how much it would take, he didn’t apply more pressure to it than needed, he would not mess this up and ruin him.

Maybe they could talk, like they once did, and he could confined in the other like he couldn’t even with Fiona. She was someone he wanted to bring in as well but he wasn’t sure she could handle it. Would she hold up against it all? Lorcan he knew could…he was strong and perhaps a lot dangerous. He knew how the other served the family in many ways…in ways most wouldn’t and couldn’t. That was what he needed at his side.
PostPosted: Thu Dec 28, 2023 8:39 pm

It sounded like a good plan and he’d hold them to that promise. A warmer smile spread as they mentioned him being a nanny, it would be like old times indeed. “I’ll accept that apology if you continue to be transparent about things going forward.” The rest of that was a moot point, he’d never bothered with any relationship outside of his work and his family. That had been enough for him as both were fulfilling in their own ways. That and he didn’t want to deal with things getting in the way of his schedule so far. It was something that was an impossibility but he’d accepted it and moved on back in college.

Looking down because of his own morbid curiosity, a hiss escaped between his teeth. It felt wrong but he couldn’t place what it felt like. Was this like a heart attack? Or something more akin to the wind being knocked out of him? Either way, he couldn’t take any more breaths as he stayed as still as a statue. His clothes seemed to fade away as another outfit took its place, it felt different, stronger, and right. Then the moment and the pain was gone and he took a slow and metered breath before looking back up to Alexandre.

“Didn’t even flinch, see?” Smiling just a bit at his joke, he stood back up and looked down at his attire. It looked… militant. It was clean and without any flair much as he was in his day-to-day choices of attire. “I assume you can’t call me by my name when we are like this can you?” A new identity and a level of anonymity to pursue some things he’d considered but not acted on. Placing his hand on his cousin’s shoulder he squeezed it firmly for a moment. “I think I am going to enjoy this.”

“No, I can’t call you Lorcan here. Hudson is Cuprite and Benitoite is the name I use. Every officer has a mineral name. Corrupt senshi, those who are on our side, use mineral or planet names.” So his cousin, who he was staring at with pride in his eyes, would pick a name for himself. He looked good though, the uniform looked perfect, whatever decided on the uniforms had done it again. A uniform which fit the officers.

Smiling up at the other, his hand finding the others arm, he nodded his head. “I think you will also. I am glad you accepted and I’ll be transparent from now on, I don’t need to hide anymore. I had to in the past, as you can see why, I couldn’t tell anyone I’d been pushed through a store front window and pierced with glass. That wouldn’t go well. Nor could I explain busted ribs or nearly dying to a royal senshi and their magic.” His back was still covered in scars from that, hidden under the ink in some spots, the scars were there.

“At least I can have you tend to my health whenever I get too deep into a fight…or when s**t hits the fan, as it tends to do in this city.” Oh dear…winter was here and Christmas had just passed, the new year hadn't hit yet but would soon be upon them. The Christmas madness had already taken hold of the city and Lorcan was going to wind up in the middle of it and while having a new understanding of it all. His poor cousin…but he was amused by the idea as well. “Now you’ll get to deal with winter properly. The best guess for the holiday season is all the magic in the city going wild. But it is nearly all magical. Welcome to the real Destiny City Lorcan.”
