Tiam 1
It had occurred to him that it was well past time for him to introduce Zota to his mother. So when he'd met up with the golden girl who had stolen his heart he had said he wanted to surprise her. Tiam had asked his mother to meet him down by the pond for a picnic and he already knew that Zota like them so it was a win win. Of course he was nervous. He wanted for his mother to approve of his choice. There was little doubt in his mind that she would but still.
He glanced over at Zota as they walked, her hand in his, and smiled at her. "I hope you don't mind a picnic today." The weather looked good so he was sure the day would be a good one.

Sy 1 With her son asking her to have a picnic with him by the pond she'd made the time to do so. With his busy schedule she knew that what time he did have he usually spent it with the young lady he'd mentioned to her several times before. Sy remembered that her name was Zota but beyond that the most she got was that her son was totally smitten with the girl. She was glad he found someone to keep his heart. While she had not she did end up with him and that had been enough for her up to current. Perhaps one day she would find romance to sweep her off her feet but she didn't dare hold her breath in wait. For now she waited at the pond side with the picnic all laid out. Sy figured her son would be along any moment so she turned to look for him coming over the small hill side.

"A picnic will be wonderful," Zota assured happily with a squeeze to Tiam's hand. They could go just about anywhere and she would be fine as long he was there! Thankfully, she couldn't see Tiam taking them anywhere that would meet with much disapproval. She inhaled with a smile as a cool but soft breeze ruffled her hair. "I was so worried that I would be stuck in the shop today. Mistress Pawree got a rather large order yesterday and had been in quite the tizzy since she also had plans for herself today. This morning, I found out she convinced the clients to give her a few more days to work with."

Tiam 2 He was pleased to know a picnic was something Zota would enjoy today. Given that he had a surprise for both important women in his life. As she told him about the threat of being stuck in the shop he smiled. "Well I will have to thank that customer for the extension." Tiam would have rescheduled if he'd needed to but it was nice that things worked out the way they did. As they got to the top of the small hill by the pond he looked down to see that his mother had followed his request and set up a picnic for them. When he noticed her he felt a bit nervous but smiled none the less. Glancing at Zota he hoped she wouldn't freak out. Tiam led them toward the leaf woman waiting next to the blanket laid out.

She stood to look at everything, making sure it was all laid out right and that the blanket hadn't furled over at the corners. The woman fussed over one edge, making sure it was straight. Once she was sure it wasn't crooked she stood up right and smiled. It was then that she noticed her son coming toward her and he wasn't alone.
At first Syqvara was confused but it was gone in a second as she guessed what was going on. Her son was bringing someone for her to meet. So she stood with her hands clasped in front of her and a smile on her face. The girl looked lovely and so long as her son was happy then she approved.

Zota chuckled lightly. "I'm sure that if you did, the client would be charmed enough to simply offer to give us even longer!" The changes to Tiam's eyes and crystals had certainly been a surprise, but she couldn't deny that the jewel tones only added to how handsome he was in her eyes. She noticed they weren't alone at the park, but it wasn't until she noticed they were headed straight for the other person that she gave them any attention. Just another leaf woman. Why would- Oh.. The woman stood and looked at them with a smile so similar to Tiam's... Zota's cheeks flushed hot as her eyes widened with surprise. Was this-?! "Tiam..?" she inquired softly as they approached.

"You think so?" He grinned. "Maybe I should do that with all your customers then." If it would take some of the stress of Zota then he'd be willing to charm some of the customers into giving them more time.
As they got closer to the spot they would be having their picnic, and his mother, he saw that Zota took notice. When her cheeks got brighter and she said his name quietly he lifted his shoulders just slightly. "Surprise?" He hadn't meant to spring anything on either of them but he couldn't wait to introduce her to his mother any longer.
He looked over at his mother and grinned before he waved at her. "Hello."

Sy 3 Uh oh. From the flushed look on the girl with him she wasn't aware that they were meeting her today. Sy felt for the girl. Still, there was nothing to be worried over. Unless the girl was rude to her son. When Tiam waved to her she returned it and her smile brightened. "Hello. Was the walk long?" She wasn't sure where they had come from so she worried they might had had to travel too far. The other side of the city perhaps? Or even the outskirts? "I wasn't sure what to pack so there's a bit of everything here."

Surprise! Surprise, indeed! Zota reigned in her shock and resisted the urge to look herself over. At the least, she could be confident that she wasn't an utter mess! Still, her free hand unconsciously smoothed a portion of her skirt as she cleared her throat. "H-hello. It was truly a very pleasant walk." She glanced at Tiam briefly for courage. His mother... She snapped herself out of her funk and gave the woman a polite curtsy. "My name is Zota. Thank you for bringing the meal today."

Tiam 4
He smiled sheepishly at her as a form of apology. He'd have to make up for springing this meeting on her. When she greeted his mother he moved so that he could wrap his arm around her waist to show she had his support. "Hello mother." Tiam looked at the spread she had laid out for them and nodded his head. "It looks good."
As Zota introduced herself he looked at her with a fond expression. When she was done he turned to his mother again. "This is the one I've written to you about."

Sy 4 She watched the young lady curtsy and she nodded her head, but extended her hands out to her. "Oh sweetie, no need to do that." She brought her hands back to herself as she looked at her son. "She's lovely." The older leaf woman stepped forward and took one of her son's hands as well as one of Zota's. "My name is Syqvara. I'm Tiam's mother. You may call me Sy though, I know my name is a mouthful." She released her son's hand to motion over to the picnic. "Come sit."

Zota readily accepted the hand gave Syqvara a bashful smile from the compliment. "Thank you. It's a pleasure to meet you, Sy. I am glad we finally get the chance." Further heat rose to her cheeks at Tiam's comment. Was.. there anyone he hadn't written to his mother about? Of course, it was surely just fiancée jitters. Unwilling to ask or even tease on the subject, she cleared her throat and headed for the blanket. "It's a beautiful day for a picnic, isn't it."

He watched the exchange between the two ladies and smiled. Though when he noticed Zota head for the blanket he gave a small chuckle before turning to his mother. "I may have sprung this on her." His tone held a bit of remorse on it. "I think I'll have to make it up to her."
He followed Zota over to the blanket and waited for her to pick the spot she wanted to sit. "Should I prepare myself to meet your family by surprise one day?" Although he had already met the one little sister. He'd been sworn to secrecy on that though. "Or would a home cooked meal make up for it?" While he didn't do it often since he was usually at the clinic, his mother had taught him to cook to make sure he could live on his own.

Sy 5 She watched Zota go to the blanket and looked at her son with a smile. She was delighted to get to meet the girl he'd told her so much about in letters. Though most of it had been the words of a young man in love. Sy was very glad to see her for herself since the description of a precious gem left a lot to the imagination. When he told her that he had sprung this on her she shook her head. "Tiam." The poor girl likely didn't know what to think or expect. As he followed Zota she did the same, though she went to the other side of the blanket and waited for her son's fiancé to take a seat before she did.

Tiam's tease had Zota look at him with wide eyes. "Oh heavens, no!" Despite her firm response, her expression lightened and a sweet laugh rose. "Even if it was just my immediate family, that's my parents plus two brothers and three sisters. They would eat you alive." She sighed softly and shook her head. She loved her family dearly, but they could be overwhelming as a group! "I would definitely take a meal. ..You do need to meet them at some point though; just maybe not all at once. Especially now that we are engaged." She glanced at Sy quickly. How much had Tiam told her? Surely he'd told her that.
