Iexa 1
It was a beautiful night, illuminated by strong beams of purest moonlight, the waves crested in white caps made the ocean shimmer as it butted up against the shore in a never ending companionship.
Iexa content with life, looked out at the waves and let his mind wander. They had had dinner. He was full, and very much appreciating the lovely life he lead. The wars were over, small skirmishes would never be extinct. His brother had given him the most adorable niece and nephew with a truly lovely lady that he was proud to call his sister in law.
He had been worried about Lynx who hadn't seem interested in woman until he met the right one for him. He bet their parents were super happy too to have grandkidlets. They certainly seemed to like having their own. He wasn't sure he needed that many kids one day, he was good with however many the gods gave him.
His eyes crinkled as he thought about Sar, his beautiful spicey princess that was also very strong and supportive. He was happy just being with her.

Sar 1 She stretched out her arms as she watched the waves crash down. Lately she'd noticed her shoulders had felt tense, then again she was still very much looking over them thinking her past would catch up to her. With everything that had been going on she had yet to tell Iexa about things. So tonight she was going to do just that. He had been a constant in her life ever since she'd met him really. Never once judging her. Of course he also knew how dangerous she could be if she felt threatened - given their first meeting had ended with her knife to his throat. As time ticked on she tried to come up with the best way to broach the subject. Finally she came to the conclusion she just needed to say it. "Iexa.." She cleared her throat to get his attention. She really needed him to be focused on her and not the beautiful scenery.

"Hmm?" He turned his head to look at her and his expression changed at the seriousness he saw there. "Are you...okay?"
Despite his regular goofballishness he was rather sensitive in some ways. And being very close to Sar he was quite sensitive to her in particular, as watching her facial expressions was one of his favorite passtimes.
Despite the pretty surroundings he was completely focused on her. He had grown up a touch since he was now a bonefied uncle and could be asked at any moment to go kick the tushy of whoever was bugging his twin, sister in law or their adorable kidlets. He wanted to maybe take the kids one day for a small adventure when they were a bit older. He had not realized he could love them so much but he really did.

With his attention now on her she took a deep breath and tried her best to center herself. Sarnai really needed to be able to tell him if they were to move forward without her keeping a wall up between them. "Do you.. uhm.. Do you remember when I told you there was something I needed to take care of before I could commit to anything?" It was a while ago so he might not. The shifter really hoped he did though. It would make things so much easier in the long run. It would also explain why it seemed like he was only ever allowed surface affection from her rather than something deeper.

He got very quiet, his body still. "Yes, I do remember." To him secrets were secrets, he knew that she in her own time would tell him or at least solve the issue or the alternative of separation should she have found him displeasing in some way or perhaps she was unable to get out of the situation could have potentially ended in her leaving..it hadn't though, she had stayed and he had been patient..ish. She had always kept a wall up. But with her constant companionship he hadn't minded. Change though was in the air. He wasn't sure if he should be nervous or not but either way he would endure. "Go on." He said gently and encouragingly.

Her hands came together and she began to pick at her fingernails as her nerves were getting the best of her. Give her a life or death situation where she was carrying stolen good and she was fine. But this.. well, it was harder to do. "I think you should know what it was.." Sarnai took another deep breath before she moved her hands forward in an attempt to take hold of his. If she had his hands in hers then she wouldn't be tempted to run away. "I want to tell you just in case if my past comes looking for me."

He freely gave her his hands as he always did. Nodding at her words. "Okay." He said not sure what else to do. He grasped her petite gray hands with his much larger tanned ones. His were warm and dry and comforting. "I understand." It would be good to know about threats before they happened so he could beat the crap out of them in assistance. They would have to get through him first and whatever other family were also around. He would support her no matter what. She was strong and beautiful, a vibrant, untamable, indomitable spirit. Which seemed to be a prerequisit for dating any in his family.

Big breath in. Sarnai held it for a second then let it out. "Okay. I used to be a smuggler." Well there was that part out of the way. "My life was owned by a man that said he was a friend of my parents. If I wanted to be free then I had to pay for my freedom." The shifter watched Iexa's face for any sign that he was upset by the news she was giving him.

"Okay, so we should be on the look out for him trying to reclaim you then? I won't let that happen." He took the news unflappably. She was more important now in her present than whatever shadows haunted her past. Besides his Mom wasn't exactly the most clean cut in the career department and he wasn't even going to get started on their Matorian neighbors. "It will be alright Sar, he won't reclaim you..also, some friend of the family to enslave their daughter, I'd flatten his nose out for him if I ever got the chance at it. You are too talented to be owned by anyone but yourself." "I take it you finally paid him off? That chizzler."

She fidgeted a little. "I don't expect him to try that." At least she hoped the man wouldn't try to reclaim her. As it was she was now able to defend herself against him with the skills he'd taught her. "Those I took from and hid items or rehomed items for may figure out who I am." If that were to ever happen then they might have an issue. Sarnai looked down at the ground then. "I also uh.. smuggled people..." Though she had always made sure it wasn't a slave trade type of thing. "So there are some individuals that would like to learn their whereabouts." If her identity was ever leaked then she may face more than a few angry people.

"Well hopefully we won't have to deal with that." He rubbed his thumbed over the hands grasped within his own. "If they do we can kick their butts or relocate for a while until they forget." He didn't give a flying hoot about her past, just that she was finally trusting him enough to open up. He felt special and he was happy that she was finally free and able to get her past off her chest. It must have been so suffocating to go through something like that. It made him feel older, just thinking about it. "Sar, I am here for you no matter what, you don't have to worry, I won't run." He was more likely to run her enemies down and rearange their faces/lives until they left her well enough alone. She had been in a very rare situation nowadays and he was happy she was finally free at least.

Hearing that he wouldn't run even if something bad happened made her smile at him with little tears in her eyes. "Thank you..." It felt good to open up and tell him the truth. Iexa was a goofball but he didn't judge her and he'd never been pushy when she'd been all secrets.
"I am still in contact with some that I smuggled. You also kind of know about them." It was how she'd ended up in Matori a lot. "I can introduce you properly sometime if you'd like."

"That sounds good, I think I have an inkling of who you are talking about." He grinned thinking of a certain family with sketchy origins. He was happy that she had felt safe enough to confide in him, there seemed to be less tightness around her eyes. He dragged her in for a gentle hug. She had gone through so much in her life, more than he could imagine if those were the circumstances she had grown up in. He would do his best to make sure that never happpened to her again.
"I'm so glad you are free." He would have kicked the owners butt from here to Kahikinia had he known, but as usual Sar had dealt with her problems herself. "I have never met anyone stronger than you, except maybe my Mom, she is pretty cool." He grinned.
"So what are your plans now?"

Considering how close the two families were to one another as far as distance she didn't doubt that Iexa might have an idea. Not to mention Lynx had apparently already helped one of them out. Sarnai wasn't at all shocked by how small the world was.
"If your mother gave birth to you and your brother then she is definitely strong." Identical twins wasn't something she thought she could handle.
"Plan now is.. to take time to enjoy life." And that meant seeing where things with Ixea took them.

"This sounds like a great plan to me." It was in fact his whole life's philosophy squashed between protect your own and tame all the critters. His heart filled with joy for her. To finally be free after so much oppression, that and that she was here spending that hard won freedom with himself. He didn't think he could be happier barring the rage that someone had owned this beautiful wild thing.
It had always been only Sar for him, and so did it continue to be. "Thank you for telling me, I appreciate how hard that was to do." He would have felt similar had he also been in that position.
"That and we didn't really get any calm siblings, despite many times trying." He grinned. He loved his crazy family but in truth Dad was the only 'calm' one. Or at least as far as he knew Dad was the only one.
"Not one of my siblings is boring."
