Prompt 16 (Sounds of the Season): This time of year, seasonal music is heavy in the air, and you’re never far from someone’s festive music. You won’t be surprised to hear many modern tracks, and an array of timeless or nostalgic songs as well. Somewhere along the way, though, you hear something different. Someone puts on an old holiday record; you might not recognize the music at all, but you have a sudden, powerful image of someone you ‘used to know’. It doesn’t feel like an illusion; you can see them, you can hear them, you can feel them. Maybe it’s someone you lost contact with in this life, maybe it’s an old friend you haven’t seen, maybe it’s someone your starseed knows but you’ve forgotten, maybe it was a ghost from another life, a memory engraved in your heart but brought to life for a brief moment–whoever it is, it’s someone important to you. Whether you know why, or not. The song is only a few moments long, but for the duration of the music, they’re real. And then, on the last note, they disappear. Whatever magic was on the record has faded; even if you hear the song again, your companion does not return.

Ascella had been loving all the wonderful Christmas spirit going around town. The decorations, the food, and the people were bustling with energy and joy. It reminded her of how she felt playing Christmas music on her violin. Maybe that was why she was especially drawn to the unique Christmas carols she heard wafting through the air. She decided to get a closer look and follow the source of the music.
She was pleasantly surprised to find a traditional carol being sung by a group of elderly women. She felt a sense of joy and peace as she listened to the group's beautiful voices.
That was until she heard something coming from behind her. She turned but no one was there. She listened as close as she could and began following the sound towards what looked like a record player playing in a grassy area nearby.
"Well this is new," she said as she got closer, "...but why is no one else over here?" she questioned as she looked around. Was she the only one hearing and seeing this. Maybe it was all in her imagination.

It was good to be back in action, even if she still wasn’t completely sold on the whole war, Kemi wanted to be out doing her own research and not just taking everything Arthur told her as the truth…though.
Most of it was the truth, she knew.
Trusting others was difficult, and that didn’t change just because he was the first person she had to speak with in the past…
Well.
Far too long.
There was another Senshi nearby, and Kemi hesitated for a moment, torn between meeting another of her fellow warriors and…not really wanting to start making a name for herself as she had in the past. She was a liar. Deceitful. It was just her lot in life but.
She had to do her own research on this war, so this would be a good place to start.
Making her way over, she paused, hearing a faint tune that…seemed…oddly familiar and as she approached the blue clad Senshi with the very pretty hair, she froze, seeing…the image of her sister, smiling and reaching out towards her, her eyes bright as they had been in life.
Kemi’s mouth fell open slightly and she stared, and finally shook her head slightly, and then her sister was gone again. Lylian was gone once again…
“...Did you. Was that your magic?”

Ascella heard someone speak and as she looked their way. At first she noticed someone the color of icicles and snowflakes. The Senshi also had a tail, and somehow after seeing that tail and hearing the music. The Senshi morphed into someone entirely different. She saw her great aunt - someone most of her family wanted nothing to do with.
Purely for the fact that she had joined a circus troupe. She had bright blue hair and was dressed in many different things. She always had a smile, even the last time she saw her. She smiled like the world was her playground - she showed her what fun was. And while everyone in her family was looking down on her, Ascella always found herself looking up. She wanted to find joy in life like she had, even if it wasn't wearing a costume. If not for her she would have never found the violin. She had introduced them. The memories flowed through her mind and made tears come to her eyes.
She had forgotten how much she had missed her. Why was she remembering her now? She quickly wiped her eyes and responded - "No not me. Was it you? I mean I just saw someone I haven't seen in a very long time..."
Part of her was happy to see her, while the other wished the memory had stayed just that. Since after she had disappeared - all she ever saw were towncars and house staff.

Kemi frowned slightly and shook her head. “No, it wasn’t me. I had…a vision like that as well. My little sister…this…is this normal for this planet?”
She had all of her information right now from a Mauvian so…perhaps information from another Senshi would…be another way to look at things.
The tears in the other Senshi’s eyes made her frown, and idly she wondered if she would ever have it in herself to cry again. Tears could only do so much. And they didn’t…
Help anything.
“I am Kemi, the Senshi of Deception. Who might you be? And if it was not your magic, and not mine…what could it have been?”

Ascella was sligtly glad she wasn't the only one seeing things. Since that would definitely be a problem. Whatever made her feel that way - well she was determined to figure it out.
"It's nice to meet you Kemi - I'm Ascella Senshi of tranquility," she said with a smile trying to forget the tears had ever come to her eyes. Since she had to be strong as she looked around the area they were in.
That was when her eyes landed on the record player. She stopped and realized the music had reminded her. Maybe that record player was causing these visions they were having. She decided to share her thoughts.
"Do you think it could be that record player?" she said pointing in that direction. "I thought it was a little odd no one else was over here. Though once you showed up it completely slipped my mind." she said not even really remembering that thought until now.

“Uh…” Kemi wrinkled her nose at the suggestion, but assumed that the strange contraption that Ascella was pointing to was this…’Record Player’. It wasn’t anything that Kemi was at all familiar with so she simply shrugged. “...Maybe? I’m not…really sure what that would be used for or…what it is. The Earth is still…very new to me, so I’m not…really sure.”
Could this machine have the ability to…put visions in people’s minds? To call up memories?
“...Should we destroy it if that is the case? Would that not mean danger to others? If it is some foreign magic…isn’t that…technically a bad thing?”

Ascella thought a moment about it. A music playing machine, and a song to remember. She knew music had power from being a violinist, but this power was something that she thought was to dangerous. Kemi was right, if they left it here who knew what would happen to the next person.
"So that record player plays music and I think that music could be behind it all," she said wanting to explain what she was thinking. Plus she sometimes forgot that not everyone knew what those things were.
"I think you are completely right, destorying it would be the safest idea for everyone," she said as she walked towards the machine. She tried to move her hand towards the record player and lifted the needle off the record. She was surprised there wasn't something stopping her. As she lifted the needle, she grabbed the record from it and snapped it in half with a loud noise. She just did it without thinking.
"I think that should do it. Since it doesn't have anythig to play anymore. What do you think?" she asked. She hadn't meant to just destory it like that on her own, but something came over her. Maybe it was the memory she hadn't want to see.

Kemi winced at the loud sound that the black disk made when it was snapped, and she frowned slightly, staring at Ascella for a long moment, feeling…a bit bemused, but also a bit pleased with the quick action. There hadn’t been thought in there, or at least none that she could see and that…
Made her respect this Senshi just a bit more.
“That will be the end to it then? What of the machine itself?”
The arm like device had been on the disk and Kemi reached out and after struggling for a moment, she broke the device off of the machine itself and then shoved the record player over, satisfied but the loud clang that it made. “If your action was not enough, this should be. I don’t think anyone will be able to use this device again without great struggle. You and I make a good team, Ascella.”

Watching Kemi destory the device made Ascella let out a sigh of relief. As the record player clanged to the ground. She smiled. Something about knowing the whole device was gone put her at ease. Knowing it couldn't bring back unwanted memories to anyone else - well that was a blessing in her eyes.
She looked at Kemi and respected the fact that they both were totally okay with just destorying it. Taking action was important especially when being a senshi. Sometimes you just have to act.
"We do make a wonderful team, Kemi. I think we have officially stopped anyone else frombeing harmed," she said happily as she looked down at the broken disc in her hands. She headed over and picked up some of the broken pieces of the record player.
"I would love to work together again sometime, but I think I'm going to throw some of these pieces away. Wouldn't want anyone to get hurt," She said as she started to walk away. She turned and said, "Thank you Kemi for all your help. I really appreciate it."

Kemi paused, a little surprised but nodded. “All right…I hope that we can meet again some time as well, Ascella…”
There was a part of her that didn’t quite understand why the other Senshi was in such a hurry to leave, but…
Another part of her that figured that it made sense. Even if this was the first Senshi she had met on Earth…nobody wanted to befriend the Senshi of Deception. She knew that.
Closing her eyes for a moment, Kemi took a breath to regulate her feelings and then walked off in the opposite direction.
