Quote: Prompt 5 (Ice Bath): Rainfall is rare in Destiny City during Winter; there have been a few light showers between the occasional snow but it’s never been enough to be significant. In some places, it’s just enough for a thin layer of ice to cover the ground and make it a little slippery, but ultimately it’s not enough to worry about. In an inconspicuous place in town, you step into one of these icy puddles and the thin layer of ice shatters. The hole itself seems maybe three feet wide and if you’ve ever been in the area before you know it’s just a pothole a few inches deep at most. Except, when the ice shatters, you fall, plummeting into it as if it were a lake of icy water. It’s pitch black around you and only pale blue lights shimmer above you. The darkness is never ending and you can’t make out the details of anything except the shrinking hole above you. Maybe you remember how to swim and pull yourself out, maybe you black out and feel someone else pulling you out--either way, your frozen, soaking body is pulled from the puddle. The chill is immense, but if you look at the hole after being pulled out, all you can see is the ground below. There’s no sign that what you just experienced is real--except for the fact that you’re still soaking wet. The penguin hadn't been a youma. The snow bunnies hadn't, either. This miniature polar bear, though, with two weirdly green eyes and its extra big teeth and claws? This one was a youma, and Almere was glad that she'd powered up to check. The last time she'd fought a youma, she'd had her cousins around to help, but it couldn't be that different, could it? That time, she'd just picked up river rocks and thrown them at it until it had turned into youma dust. She wasn't at the river this time, but she was in a park, and some of the flower beds had those big rocks around the edges. It was bigger than the ones from before. This one took two hands to pick up. She was trying to do it sneakily, but the bear youma must have seen her anyway, and it was running at her. Almere couldn't even throw the rock. She didn't have time. She just brought it down hard on the youma's face, and she didn't like the cracking sound that it made, but afterwards she was standing in a pile of dust, breathing heavily. She didn't even notice that there was still the dark feeling of Chaos around.

She was still annoyed, still so very annoyed. Her earlier prey had slipped through her fingers, and while she had gotten first blood, she wasn’t able to actually do anything other than that. He was a little stinker, literally, and moved faster than she could, especially since she had been hampered by the sticky snow. Damn it, damn it, damn it! She had a quota to hit and a grudge to ease! Strengite continued her hunt, gathering a little energy from some drunks, but still not diminishing her urge for violence. A collection of men left for dead wasn’t exactly a headline she wanted on her performance eval, so she left them loopy but alive, before hunting a more goodie goodie type of person. She had nearly given up when a weak aura peaked her interest. She approached cautiously, making sure to actually appear as harmless as possible since, unlike last time, she wanted to get as close as possible. There, a page in some god awful pale blue outfit! A perfect target! “Oh, dear. Are you ok?” She asked quietly as she stepped out of the darkness. “It looks like you just ran a marathon! You must be tired. Why don’t you take a seat and catch your breath. It will do you a world of good.” It would also make it harder for her to run away quickly.

Oh. There was someone else here. Almere turned around, her blue eyes wide, and she blinked at the woman behind her. She had on an army green dress and a hat, and there was something that Almere didn't like about that, although she couldn't quite say what it was. At this point, she was also figuring out that the was still that creepy Chaos feeling in the air. It was stronger than before, that Chaos. It felt worse than when the youma had been here, and not better. Was she sure it was coming from the woman, though? She was being nice. Almere did feel like she'd just ran a marathon. She'd never had to fight something like that on her own before. She was proud, though! She was going to tell the others all about this! Right after she took a little break. "Yeah," she sighed, and took a step closer. She didn't sit down, since the ground was pretty icy tonight, but she did put her hands on her knees and take a few deep breaths. "Thank you for checking on me! I think I'll be okay, though." She didn't take her eyes off the woman.

She made her way forward, the page was leery… as she should be. And yet Strengite didn’t really mind it too much. She still was determined to get as close as she could before she took her anger out on the poor knight. “I’m not so sure about that. You look positively tuckered out. That must have been quite the fight. What was it this time? Lizards or rabbits?” She drifted closer, her heels traversing the frozen ground carefully. The shards of broken ice skittering here and there as she came ever nearer. Soon… soon she felt she would be within striking distance. Soon she would be able to not only fulfill her bloodlust but also help ease the simmering anger within. The captain had encountered the lizards but she had heard whispers of the rabbits. She was quite glad that she didn’t have to deal with those particular winter monstrosities. “Here, why don’t I give you a hand,” She moved as fast as she could on the icy ground, glad that she had gotten as close as she was. Strengite had materialized her daggers and lashed out with them, hoping to injure the page enough to cause damage. Once she was down the captain could do whatever she wanted with her… most likely a full energy drain and then a nice star seed collection. She could always use an extra feather in her cap for presenting a page’s seed to the higher ups.

The woman still seemed nice, but as she didn't take no for an answer, something about how she was talking got more and more suspicious the closer she got to Almere. Then, there it was. Knives.Almere squeaked as a one of the blades came at her, and it cut through her puffy skirt and petticoat as she scrambled away. It was a good thing that she hadn't actually tried to sit down and relax. "You are one of the bad guys!" she gasped, and that first scramble turned into a run. Maybe there was something more heroic she should have been doing right now, something where she could be strong and conquer evil and impress all her friends, but she couldn't think of how. All she could think about was how she didn't want to get stabbed. "Go away!" She threw her spoon back at the woman. It wasn't much, but if it could distract her for just half a second, that would be great.

No blood! ********. She would have to try harder. “Awwww! What gave you that idea? Just because it would be better if you goodie two shoes were no more doesn't make me a bad guy.” Strengite grinned, not even bothering to dodge when the metal object came flying at her. “A spoon? Did you just throw a spoon at me? What's next? A fork?” She glanced down at the utensil before kicking it away and shrugging. “Here, how about a knife to finish out the set,” with that she threw one of her knives at the page. Strengite made a mental note to get someone to teach her proper knife throwing skills. Her aim wasn’t horrible but it never hurt to work on it since it was quite useful in situations like this.

"That's exactly what a bad guy would say," Almere tried to snap back as she kept running, although it came out more as a breathy mumble. Really, though. Who got upset about other people being good if they didn't have some kind of serious problems of their own? Who tried to lure in people that they'd just met and then stab them? She understood that there was some kind of war situation going on, but still. Unfortunately, there since she was running away, she didn't actually see what the woman was doing. She didn't see the knife. She didn't dodge. ' It left a slice in the side of her arm as it whizzed past. Almere gasped and tried not to cry. This felt worse than anything else that had happened. At least back that other time when everyone had been fighting, she'd had other people to help her. Now it was just her, and her spoon, against someone strong. She started running over an icier part of the ground, some kind of big frozen puddle. On her first step there, it cracked. On her second, it broke. On the third, she fell through, vanishing completely beneath the ground.

stari_maga (Strengite out ^_^ that cold dunk in the water saved her XD ) The page was scurrying here and there like a mouse running from a cat… Strengite quite liked that mental visual. The fun thing was watching the other woman slip and slide over the slick ground even as she gave chase. It wasn’t exactly fast going since she didn’t want to twist or break anything but she was still gaining ground, she didn’t even slow down when her dagger drew a line of red on the page’s arm. It wasn’t much but it was still better than just shredding the knight’s obnoxious outfit. Blood was always better than torn cloth in a fight, as far as Strengite was concerned. One minute the captain was giving chase and the next the page was gone. Like ‘poof’ gone. No longer there. Just disappeared. “Since when did you ******** learn to teleport,” she grumbeled as she ran over to the space the page had just been. There…. Wasn’t anything there but cracked ice and water. She waited a moment to see if the goodie-goodie was going to show back up but when she didn’t appear Strengite just cursed and stomped away. “The second time tonight! The second bloody time! What the hell is going on here?!??!?!” She grumbled to herself as she stalked away into the night. Someone was going to have to feel her wrath. At first it was going to be that senshi but he left a stink bomb and scampered away like some messed up skunk…. Then it was going to be the page but she just up and disappeared…. Now she would have to make sure to find someone to vent her anger on. One way or another.
