The entranceway of the orphanage reveals the decadent design of the historical building, with its ornately carved wooden banisters, antique decor, and creepy, painted portraits of whoever those esteemed people are on the walls. From here, one could venture up the stairs or through any of the three doorways that lead off to the rest of the mansion. This place is so big and has so many halls and doorways that one might just get lost in the mansion alone. Where is everybody anyways? For a place filled with children, these halls always seem so quiet. Where are the staff? Where's the welcoming committee? If it's your first day here, you might notice a letter with your name on it, sitting upon this tiny table by the stairs:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Welcome to St. Katherine's! We are so happy to have you join us. Please, feel free to explore the grounds and make yourself at home. You'll find bunk #__ made up for you with fresh sheets, a couple of extra sets of clothes, and a basket of hygienic supplies. Know that the basement is under construction and currently off-limits for your safety. We also advise that you don't venture far into the woods at the edge of the property as we cannot guarantee your safety there, and your safety is our utmost priority! Please seek out a member of the staff or a fellow peer if you have any questions or concerns. *See the attached schedule for class times, meal times, emergency procedures, and your chore assignment.
I'll be in touch, Headmaster Murdoch"
~Aiden Pierce~With a soft grunt, Aiden leaned his weight into the heavy wooden door of the building to step inside and immediately notice the exquisite interior of the foyer. "Man, these people are rich..." he muttered, his eyes immediately scanning the room for stealable objects of value. The child glanced back outside as the police car that had delivered him here disappeared back into the dense woods. In Aiden's head, where only he could hear, the usual voice picked up, Look at him take off! He didn't even hand you off to someone! What an idiot! Aiden let the door fall closed behind him as he stepped further into the room to pick up a letter with his name on it. He gazed with confusion around the room and into the neighboring rooms, "Is anybody even here?" Met with only silence, the 7-year-old boy opened his letter and stared at the words on the page with a focused gaze before sighing in frustration, "What does it say, Lionel?" The demon voice laughed tauntingly, Awww, baby can't read the words? Aiden growled in annoyance, "I can read my name fine! My eyes are just tired... Just tell me what the rest says." Lionel snickered mischievously. Okay okay, it says... Welcome to St. Katherine's Girls' Home! Here, you will undergo the best young ladies' training available to mold you into the most desirable homemaker and satisfying lover! You'll find your dressware laid out for you on your bed and--- "WHAT!?" burst the child with a flushed red face, "I'm not a girl! I don't even look like a girl!" Lionel giggled evilly again at his trick and quickly chimed back in, I don't know, Aiden... you do sound like a little girl...and you got those rosy pink cheeks all the time and those little baby doll eyes. Why, I think you'd make for an adorable and probably even popular lolita girl if we just put a little dress on you~ You should really give it a try... snickered Lionel provocatively. Aiden clenched his fists and his teeth in embarrassment as he growled, "Shut UP, Lionel! I'm not wearing a dress! I'm not a stupid girl! And-- and you're LYING, aren't you!?" The boy glared down at the letter again, trying to see if he could make out the word 'Girl' anywhere on the page. Meanwhile, Lionel just kept madly laughing at Aiden's frustration.
 Lilith Eclair Walking past the police car that sped past her on the main road, Lilith walks straight through the gates and into the main entrance hall of St. Katherine's. It's been a few years since she's been to this orphanage. She left once she turned 18 to learn about herself and find out who left her in the front gates. Now the age of 24 and after a lot of adventures (misadventures rather) she decided to come back to the place she considers to be her first home. Dream Visitor: Looks to be in the same state it was when you left this place those years ago.Lilith grunts in agreement. Using her magic to float her baggage behind her, she pushes through the door of the orphanage into the main entrance hall where she sees a young boy less than 10 years of age. He seems to be arguing with someone Lilith can't see or hear and he doesn't notice her behind him. Not being alarmed in the slightest due to having her own voice in her head, she flies and floats near the child and greets him quietly. Lilith: "Hello. Are you new here?"
~Aiden Pierce~Aiden jumped at the sound of a new voice, his eyes darting up from the note in his hands as he spun on his heels to see a young woman floating in the air. "Oh! I--didn't hear you come in..." he muttered nervously, his mind racing as he wondered how much she heard, and his cheeks flushed in a mix of anger and embarrassment at Lionel's teasing. "I just got here..." he muttered shyly, holding up his welcome letter for her to see. His gaze drifted to her floating baggage and then back to her and then to the floor beneath her. "How are you doing that?" he pointed to her floating off the floor. Lionel piped up in Aiden's mind, Oh, she's a witch! Be careful, Aiden, she'll put a curse on you! Maybe she runs this joint... I bet she can turn you into a girl so you fit in a little better~ he offered, again pushing his lie about it being a girls' school. Clearly a little distracted by something, the child would let out a sudden annoyed sigh before worriedly glaring at the paper in his hand again and then looking at the woman before him with clear distrust. If you don't believe me, go ahead and ask her to read it to you, Aiden. She'll probably only think you're a little stupid. Maybe she'll have pity on you and make you an extra pretty girl to make up for your dumbness. Aiden would now clench his fists in frustration and grumpily bark at the girl, "What even is this place?"
 Lilith Eclair Lilith immediately notices the abrupt change in tone of the boy when speaking to her. The way his eyes looked vacant and distracted for a few seconds reminded her of herself when the Dream Visitor is speaking to her in her mind. Coming to a quick conclusion that the boy similarly has someone speaking to him in his mind, she quietly and unnoticeably casts Detect Magic and Detect Evil. Both spells determined that there definitely is something interesting happening in front of Lilith, but whether what she detected is an aberration, celestial, elemental, fey, fiend, or undead in nature is beyod the capabilities of the spells. Dream Visitor: Careful, Elle, I'm also sensing a sinister entity either within that boy or around him. I'll cast Protection from Evil on you for now but stay very vigilant and don't let your guard down.Lilith: Mhmm, this is quite interesting. Don't they remind you of us when I was younger? Though you've proven to me that you genuinely care for me for some reason i still don't understand.Dream Visitor: In time, Elle, in time. At any rate, we've dealt with this kind of situation many times outside so you should be fine.Lilith agrees internally and addresses the boy: "Hello young man, it's proper manners and polite to introduce one's self first when addressing another person. My name is Lilith and this place is my first home, but as you can see, I've just returned." Lilith gestures to her floating assortment of suitcases, boxes, and bags. Lilith reaches out to the welcoming letter that the boy was holding up to her. After quickly scanning through the letter, she hands it back to him. Lilith: "This appears to be an welcome letter addressed to one, Mr. Aiden Pierce. I assume the letter is referring to you, Aiden. Welcome to St. Katherine's: Orphanage of Shadows, I suppose we both need to go meet with Headmaster Murdoch, seeing as this is your first time here, and I've just returned." Lilith starts to float away, but pauses for a second and looks back at the boy: "Would you like to fly with me? Walking around is too slow and bothersome ... You can either fly if I cast the spell on your body, on the back of a creature, or on this floating platform, take a pick." Lilith summons the aforementioned creature (a cryophoenix big enough for the boy to sit on comfortably), and a transparent floating platform made of clear ice, beside her and she waits for his response.
~Aiden Pierce~The small child would just stare blankly at the woman before him as she spoke, a general look of distrust in his eye all the while. Aiden stuffed the letter into his pants pocket now that he had his answer. "I knew it wasn't a girls' school..." he'd mutter ever so quietly under his breath. Wait, an orphanage? Am I going to be adopted? Just as the boy was about to ask this out loud, the woman offered to make him fly. "What?" The child took a step back in surprise as a strange beast and clear platform appeared before him. Told you she's a witch~ Never too late to make you a girl~ "D--Don't put a spell on me!" yelped the child immediately, glancing wide-eyed to the woman and then back to the creature and platform. "I'll do--uhh" The boy made a judgemental face at the creature, "I don't like that one... I'll do the platform..." He would nervously step up to the platform, eyeing the phoenix warily the whole time it was present. The small child would step onto the platform, clearly anxious and stiffening his whole body in fearful anticipation of it starting to move. "Is this safe?" he'd ask, glancing up to the girl. [[OOC: Just an FYI. Note that there is no headmaster's office...nor have I made Headmaster Murdoch into anything much more than a name at this point, lol. He's hard to get ahold of, and he frequently communicates via letters that appear out of thin air. Feel free to write a letter to your character from his perspective, if you wish~]]
Lilith EclairLilith: "Huh? Where did you hear that this is a girl's school...? At any rate, I'd say it's pretty safe. Here, you want a chair and handrails?" Lilith motions with her hand and a chair made of ice connected to the platform materializes behind Aiden. Sturdy handrails appear waist high to provide support and somewhere to hold on to once the platform starts to move. "... and since you said you didn't like this one --" With another wave of her hand, the creature puffs up and and gently explodes, turning into a cloud of fresh soft snow that falls all over the floor and over Lilith and Aiden's heads. Lilith: "Now off to the headmaster's offi -- Oh, wait, now that I remember, He always seems to be missing in action. His office is always empty and there's a box we just drop letters into addressed to him and we receive a reply almost instantly." She looks around and parchment and a quill float out of one of the flying bags. The quill scribbles quickly in what seems to be red ink ... The paper folds itself and blasts off flying deeper into the orphanage. "Now we wait .. and there it is." A closed envelope with a wax seal bearing the family crest of Headamster Murdoch bursts into existence right in front of Lilith. She rips open the envelope and starts reading the contents. Lilith: "Hmm says here I need to show you around to orphanage and settle you in..??? Aww I was just about to head into the kitchen to find some food, I'm starving." Her stomach growls audiblyLilith stares at Aiden and imagines to herself that he seems like a scared little kitten ...  Chuckling softly, she looks at the boy and says: "First let's get you a quick check up at the Nurse's Office. I want to make sure that you're not hurt or ill and then we can both grab a snack in the kitchen, deal?" [[flies off into Nurse's Office]]
~Aiden Pierce~Aiden sat down on the platform seat and felt immediately more stabilized and at ease. He watched in vague horror as the bird creature burst into a snowy explosion that would rain upon his hair and Lilith's, Lionel internally snickering in evil delight at the brutal slaughtering. The child continued to watch on curiously as the witchy woman sent and received some magical letters, her bags and quill and parchment seemingly moving with a mind of their own. Aiden opened his mouth to protest needing to visit the nurse, but the platform would suddenly lurch forward and fly off after Lilith toward the Nurse's Office. The child would gasp in surprise and grip onto the handlebars for his life, Lionel again laughing within the child's mind as he enjoyed the show of chaos brought about by Lilith's magic and impatience. [[OOC: ~LOVE the kitten reference ^^ ]] [[EXIT to Nurse's Office]]
The Chariot  Name:Thoma Emotion: Relaxed Thoughts: "Back here again?"
With a slight grumble, a scratching of his head and the sound of a door closing, Thoma had given the driver a thumbs up as he watched them speed off. Bag in hand a, and a sign of resignation on his face already he begun to walk towards the door he hated so much. Pushing it open as he glanced down at where he remembered he was dropped off as an infant, Thoma yawned and walked through the doors into the empty foyer. "Was it always this small? I guess I've gotten too big, huh?" As he stepped further inside, he heard the wooden doors behind him close and accepted his fate. That he'll be a teacher here at the orphanage. Maybe if he's lucky, he'll be able to get away with not teaching! Jumping in the air, and landing with a triumphant look on his face and notices a sign in front of him. "Oh freak.. am I late? I wonder if I'll ever meet that one girl I admired some time ago." Whispering to himself, Thoma puts his hand in his pockets and messed with his piercing gun and sighs. Knowing how unpredictable this orphanage is, he can never be too careful.
 Name:Thoma Emotion: Panic? Thoughts: "Oh no oh no oh no ho no!"
Thoma aimlessly paced around the entranceway of the orphanage in a mild panic. Was he late, was he on time? The sign was only for the orphans who were just arriving and figure out where and how they'll operate. And to top it all off, Headmaster Murdoch even said if they need help, then staff members were to be sought out for help. Thoma finally stopped and dropped to his knees and hugged them. "This isn't what I signed up for! I just wanted to nap my time away here because I couldn't find the person I was looking for!" Yelling aloud, he finally noticed there was no one around, making it eerily quiet. It was no use for Thoma to stress himself out so soon and early. So he stood up slowly, dusted off his knees and thought of his favorite place. "The sleeping quarters!" As if a lightbulb had appeared over his head, he slammed a lone fist into the open palm of his other hand and smiled. Thoma knew where his favorite spot in the orphanage was because that's where he was if he wasn't in class. But even then, he slept anywhere. Walking with motivation, he made his way to the his destination. Hopefully he didn't get lost on his way. [[Exit to Sleeping Quarters]]
