In the year 2080, when VR gaming overtook all other forms of gaming, major game companies rushed to find the next big thing. They wanted a way to take the undisputed top of the pyramid in gaming. During this race a handful of scientists got together with programmers to create the next big thing - full immersion chamber technology. This technology became known as Full Dive as it allowed a player to dive right into the world of the game completely. All their senses would be attuned to the input that the game world fed them and it would seem as lifelike as any reality depending on the actual game itself. This revolutionary group worked for Nintendo. And of course the company decided to invest this technology into the largest grossing revenue that it had - Pokémon.
And so Pokémon the Online World, or POW for short, was born. Media and Press releases ran wild with the news. All over the world a few lucky people got to test the game in the Beta stages. Then finally immersion chambers were available to the public all over the world. Every major city or large town worked to have a building filled with these pods. People from all over the world flocked to these gaming centers and paid the fee to access the chamber. Some of the richer clients even purchased a chamber for private use. Everyone thought it was as safe as playing any other game. They even praised Nintendo for adding a vitals monitoring system. No one thought that this would have any negative impact...at least no more than any other game on the market.
They were wrong.
Sown into the group of scientists, programmers, and artists who worked tirelessly to make the entire game seem as real as reality was a couple who sought to do something else. It was this couple that bided their time until all the players were logged into the game until they made their move. They readjusted the code quickly so that no player could log out once they logged in. Not only that but they accessed the code for all of the chambers all over the world to create some devastating effects. If anyone attempted to remove the helmet that was placed on a player's head within the chamber, thus forcibly logging them out, the player would die. Not only that but if a player died in the game they died in real life.
As a courtesy to all of the world the couple responsible for this let it be known what would happen if someone tried to remove the person from the chamber and remove their helmet. Many people tried as they thought it was just one big bluff and a lot of players died as a result. The players inside of the game, however, remained unaware that they were trapped until they went to logout. All logout options were gone ... as though they never existed in the first place. They were trapped.
Worst of all they won't even know why.
To get home, they'll have to navigate the Wonderful World of Pokémon and beat the game. To do this one player needs to beat all the gyms in the Pokémon world and another will need to complete the Pokédex. Sounds easy right? Well...not exactly. Players will soon find out that it's a big dangerous world out there Pokémon can be as deadly as they are beautiful. And there are plenty of characters out there that want to see the trainers fail...
So be prepared for an amazing adventure with more twists and turns than any Pokégame before!
This would be the obligatory follow gaian T.O.S. Even while you're on discord please show everyone the respect they deserve by keeping away from topics or discussions that someone may have said will make them uncomfortable.
This is a literate roleplay. That does not mean that I will expect monster sized posts out of everyone - though that may happen from time to time. I do ask that you give a minimum of ten complete sentences per post. That's about two or so paragraphs. I will not be stringent on how often you need to post. In fact, I will be more than happy with one post a week. What I like to see more is loyalty and communication. Of course, you may get poked every once in a while for a post if you haven't but I understand that life isn't always at your leisure.
For the posts themselves, I would ask that you have three basic things in them aside from your writing. I would like to see a picture of your character, their name, and a general location. Just try to make sure that these are easily seen. It really does help keep track of everything. And please keep your text size that you want everyone to read at or above size 11
OOC will be primarily through Discord. It's a quick and efficient place to communicate. You will also find extra information there that will help the roleplay to be more enjoyable. That being said you do not need to participate in the voice options if you are not comfortable with that.
Everyone will be allowed to have two characters for now. If, in the future, this changes then I will let everyone know. For your character's backgrounds and personalities...there is one thing I would ask that you try to keep in mind. This is a roleplay. Which means that our goal is to write together. Characters that would not work with another person, seek people out, or be recruited tend to be the ones isolated and have much fewer interactions.
All players start out with 1 Pokémon egg that they chose during the creation of their avatar. They must complete the opening "sequence" before the Pokémon hatches. It will hatch at the lowest evolutionary form possible.
Charizard is a fire-dragon. Fight me.
Characters can reasonably catch as many Pokémon as they'd like. There will be no carrying restrictions. The only thing is that each Pokéball, with a Pokémon inside, will weigh a pound for each Pokémon. If a player does not want to carry the Pokémon with them they can not just deposit it into a computer system. They can sell the Pokémon if they're in a town or release it back into the wild. Regardless of the amount of Pokémon a player possesses, players are regulated to only using six pokemon in a fight or it's an instant loss. Another thing to consider is that each pokemon in a player's possession must be regularly cared for and fed or the pokemon will 'die'. Basically all players are responsible for the Pokémon that they capture. Capturing a Pokémon will follow the general idea that you must battle it first.
To keep things fair, any legendary and mythical Pokémon are off limits. They can not be caught by any player.
Pokémon can only use 4 different moves in a competition like player to player or player to gym leader. If they use more than 4 different moves by the trainer's command it's an automatic loss. However, a Pokémon can learn as many moves as possible. This can be used against wild Pokémon or in self defense. Just remember - not everything is like riding a bike. If they don't use it every once in a while it's reasonable to assume they could either forget it or at least get rusty at the technique. Please use your better judgement and creative imagination with this.
Battling wild Pokémon will be done at the players discretion. Just write it in a believable way. Player verses NPC is the same way; you are responsible for writing both sides of that fight in a believable way.
Player verses Player can be discussed ahead of time to decide what happens. However, I encourage using a simulator so that no one's feelings are hurt and it's as fair as possible. However, if you'd rather just talk about it and the other person agrees that's okay too.
Player verses gym will use a simulator. The Pokémon that the gym leader has will be set up ahead of time. The gym Pokémon levels, however, will range based on the levels of the player's chosen Pokémon. The gym battle can be played ahead of time of the character actually challenging in the story so that the player can use the play by play had a guideline to writing the scene out.
There will be a list of Pokémon for each area with a corresponding number in the discord. All you do is type in a roll command, the discord bot will tell you what number you got, and you cross reference to see what Pokémon you can encounter. You can encounter up to three Pokémon per post as long as it makes sense. You get to choose what happens. If you choose to capture the Pokémon, you get to choose the Pokémon's nature, moveset, and the like.
Events or special areas may trigger a chance to catch Pokémon that may not otherwise be on an areas list.
Starter Pokémon will begin at level 5. Every battle they do on their own and wins have with a Pokémon around their own level earns them 2 points. As long as they didn't faint or loose, each battle they take part in (team battle, or were switched out) they earn 1 point. Likewise winning a battle against a much weaker opponent gets the Pokémon 1 point. Each level requires 20 points.
Evolution by levels is straight forward. Evolution by stone is straight forward. Evolution by status or situation can be figured out when it comes up if it doesn't seem possible or doesn't work in the scope of a roleplay.
Team Valor is all about a Pokémon's strength both inside and outside of battle. Their sigil is Moltres and the team leader in the Hoenn region is Candela. Players who join Team Valor at the start receive 1 TM of their choosing and 10 extra potions at the start of the game.

Once your reserve has been accepted please work on your profile. You will need to have a thread for your character. If you have multiple characters, they can be in the same thread but please put them on separate pages in that thread.
Use ｔｈｉｓ format. Leave the Pokégear and Supplies area blank at the start. Also leave the Keys, Ribbons, and Badge information blank. All Starter Pokémon will start out at Level 5.
When it's completed, let us know either in the recruitment thread or on Discord. We will then review the profile and get back to you if we have any questions or if there's anything that needs to be changed to fit into the rp better. Once everything is cleared up and fixed, we will let you know that it's accepted. Only then is it okay to post.
Mauville City is located in central Hoenn and serves as the hub for travelers throughout the Hoenn region. Years ago the Gym leader helped to redesign the town. Now most activities are inside of the high rise buildings. There are pathways between all of the buildings under ground as well as suspended in the air between the buildings. All residents are likewise condos and apartments inside of these buildings. Outside of the metal and concrete structures there are well maintained parks that dart throughout the city.
