There was never a tried and true method into draining someone of their energy, was there? Even as Hylonome broke the concentration that she found she sometimes needed to focus on did she stare at the colored string of orbs in her hand before she stared back down at the individual who'd unwittingly become her target for that evening. There was nothing about her target that had provoked the need to drain their energy but maybe it was because the young woman had been walking alone that Hylonome saw the apparent ease in which she could fulfil her quota for the evening. But leaving her victim lying on a pathway in which anyone could stumble across her would not be the kindest thing to do.

Pushing one little orb back into the woman's body and dismissing the rest did Hylonome sigh before gently shifting her burden into a princess carry before walking to the nearest park structure. Her gaze took in the playground fort before she winced. Well, it was probably better to leave her partially concealed on the structure than somewhere out in the open for anyone to come across. Her fingers twitched absently as she made sure that she could prop the girl up in a comfortable position while making sure she was unseen from passerby. It was her wish that the young woman would wake later on but while unconscious, be safe from those that were considered the dregs of society.

Even as she straightened limbs and then cast a glance around did Hylonome gently press her hand to the woman's chest for a moment before she felt the resistance ease. She wouldn't take the starseed that was housed inside, but there was a yearning inside of her to simply see what it felt like to once more handle one that was still inside a human body. Her fingers twitched with the need to pull the tiny gem from where it resided even as she felt the energy pulsating. Turning her head to the side Hylonome's senses came alive with the detection of a power level higher than her own and she reflexively pulled away from the young woman. Oh ... and her hand came out of the woman's chest with the starseed she'd just been telling herself she wouldn't take.

It was the dark, chill feel of a chaos signature that had drawn Ida away from the more populated areas of the city towards the park. Chaos was always something worth investigating, because it was nearly always a sign of someone up to no good. She felt the cold of it increasing in intensity as she got closer, narrowing down the direction of it until it felt close enough to touch.

Jogging down the path towards the playground, she broke from the trees and her eyes found the signature she'd been following. A young woman with a victim laying at her feet and... the faint spark of a glow in her hand that Ida recognized. Fear went through Ida like a shot, setting her heart pounding in her chest and making her fingertips tingle with the adrenaline. The person on the ground was in dire danger... she had to do something.

"Hey!" Ida shouted as she picked up her pace, starting to sprint across the lawn. "Drop that!"

Okay, maybe that wasn't the smartest thing to shout. But she was going to be there in a moment, and then she'd make sure that starseed got back to its owner.

The presence of an Order signature had eluded Hylonome up to the point where the owner of the voice was commanding her to drop the starseed she was currently turning this way and that. Her brows knit themselves into a state of confusion before she turned to spot the owner of the voice. There was no threatening motions on her behalf even as she moved to stand in front of the girl's prone body. Her hands still cupped the starseed and she gently moved to set it on the railing of the playground structure before staring down at the one that had spoken to her.

Was there a flicker of recognizance somewhere in her brown eyes? Had she not seen this particular senshi before, last summer? Hadn't she been sporting wings though?

Hylonome was all but certain the description matched what she had remembered seeing in the deserted underground location where Prehnite had summoned her to help battle slime monsters. This senshi had been there too, cajoling everyone to fight harder even as she fought with what seemed to be all her might. Her gaze dropped away before she gently placed a hand over the tiny gem that she'd plucked out of her victim. She hadn't intended to keep it, had she? It was better to keep it safe for now. Instead of dropping it as she'd been commanded too Hylonome caused it to disappear into her subspace pocket even as she held up her hands in a gesture of showing that she wasn't going to do anything else.

"I want to talk. Nothing more. I'll hold onto this for safety reasons. Can you agree to that?"

Ida broke off her head long run into a sliding stop, dirt crunching under her boots. The starseed was gone and that, more than anything, had her on edge.

"You know you hold that person's life in your hands, right?" She said, teeth gritted. "If you only want to talk, then fine. Put it back, and we'll just talk. I have no issues with anyone if they aren't hurting anyone, but it is very specifically my job to stop people getting drained and starseeded. I've seen what happens to someone who's lost their starseed... its not kind."

There was only so much Ida could do though, and she knew it. With the starseed gone into whatever subspace pocket the girl had, it was out of her reach now no matter how hard she tried to retrieve it. Only the other girl could bring it back... and Ida was not good at being intimidating or threatening. She wasn't even particularly good at being persuasive... but she had to try.

"Please. I swear... if you just put it back, I won't do anything but talk." She said, trying to put all of her sincerity into her voice.

The length in which Hylonome just stood and watched the other senshi seemed to span an eternity. She was taking in the entire picture that this opponent presented: gritted teeth was indicative of anger but the rest of the posture that she was seeing, almost spoke of the need to make her believe that this senshi indeed plan to keep her word about just talking. In the back of her mind, she had recalled a time when she had first taken a starseed and the follow up conversation that had been held with Reed about how she could effectively bargain with the enemy if she had a starseed up her sleeve, so to say. He was obviously, of course, right again and Hylonome sighed before the tone of the senshi on the ground changed to that of someone who was pleading ... and swearing that she would do exactly what she had asked for ... and that was just to talk.

"I know," and here Hylonome knelt down at her victim's side before she absently tucked a lock of hair that had come loose back behind their ear. Concentrating for a second had the starseed reappear and Hylonome stood up in order to show that she had brought the tiny gem back out of her pocket. With an exaggerated slowness did she crouch down and push the object back to where it belonged before she stood up and presented her empty hands to the other.

"I know I held her life in my hands. It's not something I wanted to do, but when I felt your aura ... I panicked. But I've put it back and I can even do more if you desire, but I would like to honestly talk at the same time."

Hylonome stood straighter as she peered down at Ida before considering where she wanted to start. Logically it would be best if she could confirm her suspicions about where she'd seen this individual before.

"I have a question though first of all, just to confirm who I believe you are ... you were the one that led a large force battling slime-ish creatures in a subway, were you not?"

Ida's shoulders dropped as the starseed sank back into it's owner's chest. Tension bled out of her in a rush that left her almost trembling. True to her word, she stopped where she was and dropped her hands, her posture settling into something non-confrontational. They would talk, as she'd promised. There must be something really important to this girl to do what she'd done and without the threat on that fragile life, Ida found herself curious. Negaverse officers did not seek her out to 'just talk', for the most part. Fight her, yes. Anyone who knew who she was now seemed ready to fight.

A grimace slid across Ida's full mouth and she stifled it, lifting one shoulder in an uneven shrug.

"My name is Sailor Ida. I helped to organize everyone when the Blight was ravaging the city and our planets out in space. I was there during the fight in the subway, yes. Were you there? I didn't know everyone who showed up." She said, turning over the events of that night in her mind and trying to pick out a dark-haired head with a dark green uniform from the mash of other colors and faces she'd seen. She couldn't remember doing anything to anyone that night, so this curiosity probably wasn't about revenge. Maybe she just didn't understand what had led up to the fight, or what they'd been fighting. That, at least, was a safe enough topic.

Ida. Sailor Ida. Hylonome had been a good agent and read up on the database about this senshi after the subway battle. Her gaze went wide as she made the connection before she nodded in satisfaction. It was nice to have a name to go along with faces, to make sure that she wasn't making the biggest case of mistaken identity. When Ida began to explain what had initially started the battle, Hylonome listened with quiet attention. Her gaze flicked back to the teen that she had taken energy from before she sighed softly. Her hand came up and the energy that she had taken appeared before she gently shooed it in the direction of the unconscious individual.

Taking what was probably tantamount to a giant mistake, the corrupt super exited the play structure before standing a few feet away from but in front of Ida. Her gaze was wary but she didn't want to pose any more potential threat to this senshi. Hylonome's voice was quiet as she began to speak, her own posture was relaxed and showed no visible sign of this being anything but what she wanted to do ... talk.

"I was there. My general called his small team to him for the fight and I obeyed the summons. I didn't know what was going on at the time but I did what I could do to help out. Mainly because I didn't want to see my team get hurt," here Hylonome paused before sighing. How did one go about asking an individual about events that may not have pertained to them?

Something was still on her mind it seemed from before and she glanced at Ida before she settled on the most prominent of her emotions: confusion, "I once was told by another order senshi that I didn't belong to chaos. It happened in a place where there were robots attacking us. It doesn't make sense though as for as long as I've known, I've always been like this," here Hylonome gestured to the hole that was in her chest. Why did it bother her so much to have heard that? Why was she questioning the explanation that Prehnite had given to her?

"Even though I'm now a stage higher in power, I still feel as if I've been called out by that one little statement from an order senshi that I don't know. Like there's a chance that I'm not who I really am."

Ida blinked in surprise as the corrupt released the energy she had gathered, letting it return to the downed civlian. She even came out from her safe space and came closer, giving them a far more comfortable speaking distance. That in turn eased the tension in Ida. This she could do. If the corrupt wasn't going to offer her any violence, then she was happy to talk to her, about whatever she wanted to talk about.

What she wanted to talk about came as a bit of a surprise as well, widening Ida's brown eyes. This was a very heavy sort of question... Ida wasn't sure how much of what she told the girl would be believed, but it felt important to give her as much of the unvarnished truth as she had to give. Maybe it wouldn't come to anything, but there was always that chance that a seed, once planted, would sprout, grow and bear fruit.

"White Moon Senshi and Negaverse Senshi are fundamentally the same thing..." She said, feeling out how she wanted to tackle this. "Except where they get their energy from. In a senshi's natural state, they draw energy from their planet. Or asteroid, or moon, whatever the celestial body is. When a senshi is taken into the Negaverse, that energy source is replace with... Metallia. Your energy comes from her and ties you to her. I suppose that's what that senshi meant... if you had awakened naturally, you would have been part of Order, not Chaos. Chaos is something that was done to you, to change you. So you belong to chaos now, but its artificial... its not really how you're meant to be? There is still a world out there that belongs to you, that's... waiting for you, probably. Sleeping."

Was that politic enough? She couldn't bring herself to be truly neutral on the subject, but she did try hard not to say it was wrong to be part of the Negaverse... just not what she was meant to be.

Did that mesh with what she had been told before? Hylonome briefly raised a hand to her forehead before it lowered to rest at her side once more. The senshi of edelweiss stared into the distance with a blank look as she tried to put into context what Ida was explaining to her. Her gaze seemed unfocused as she thought back to the battle against those malfunctioning robots and to the one individual who had made her begin to question things in the first place. There was no going to her general with these questions, not yet. Hylonome sighed heavily. It was interesting to think that there could be some sort of world out in space that was just there ... waiting for her, even if she couldn't feel anything deep inside that would verify this statement from Ida.

"Normally how does a senshi awaken?"

Biting her lip and pondering if it were wise to elaborate and put herself perhaps in a more vulnerable state of mind she gave one more deep sigh before continuing, "have you ever watched the animation Anastasia? I feel like I'm Anya. I woke up during a battle with seemingly no memory of who I was besides this form you see me in right now. I can't explain much more than that because I don't know what happened. All I was told that I was caught in an explosion caused by Order. But even after all this time I draw a blank at who I might have been before."

Would Ida be able to provide some sort of different answer? It wasn't that her civilian side of Amora didn't trust Reed's explanation ... it's just that something didn't feel right about what she had been told.

"Oh..." Well, that was an interesting thing to hear, and sad. Ida felt sympathy well up inside of her, wrapping around her tender heart. This girl had no memories... and while that could happen naturally... it was also a tell-tale sign of corruption.

"When a senshi's starseed is ready, a Mauvian can feel it." She said solemnly, her mind turning. How much should she tell her? She already seemed to suspect some of it... but wasn't it important for her to know? Maybe it would change nothing, but maybe it would. "The Mauvian sort of... releases the starseeds potential, and gives the senshi a pen that lets them transform. I think corrupted Mauvians can sense ready starseeds too, but I've never heard of them awakening anyone. Corruptions are always done by one of the officers... usually a General Sovereign."

She paused then, teething her lower lip. "Memory loss is one of the side effects of someone who has already awakened either purifying, or being corrupted. Which, when someone purifies, its always because they want to. Some people want to be corrupted and allow it to happen, but it can also be forced too."

She didn't know which side of that this girl fell on, but if she'd been willing, it was a poor repayment to loose all of her memories in return. And even stranger, then, that her superior officer hadn't explained to her how she'd given herself up willingly to chaos.

"If you were corrupted during the battle, it would explain why you can't remember anything before that. And probably why no one knows who you were before? Because we keep our identities secret."

Corruption? Purification? This was rather all seemingly new terms that she was learning today and it made Hylonome's head hurt. If she had read about the terms ages ago - she had already forgotten about them. However there was one thing that Ida had mentioned that caught and held her attention. Memory loss could happen no matter which way an individual went. That was something rather new. Of course the handbook that she had been given to read after being brought into Reed's home did not mention anything about purifying. Maybe it's because the Negaverse doesn't want its soldiers to desert the ranks if there's another way to live, she thought wryly before she sighed. This was just one more new little lesson that she was receiving, albeit from a member of Order but Hylonome was sort of willing to believe Ida. So far neither of them had lied so was there some strange mutual trust developing?

Oh... oh no ... no no no, was the next thought that went through the corrupt's mind on learning that while those who wanted purifying had to be willing participants ... corruptions had the opposite stance. Force could be used. Was that what happened to her? Had she been forcibly corrupted in that large battle?

"Ida, can you tell me ... if you know ... was there ever a battle where a large number of people were battling on a hilltop? I remember clearly waking up there but near the end a lot of us were just pulled away just as something was about to explode."

Was she remembering that correctly? Was that a true memory? It was seemingly her first one where she remembering waking up with Hatsya watching over her.

Whimsical Blue
PostPosted: Sat Apr 20, 2024 10:14 am

Ida frowned as she considered what the corrupt was asking. There had been so many battles... and there were many hills in Destiny City. Hills and parks and rooftops...

"Battles happen here a lot..." She said slowly. "There was likely more than one battle with a lot of people on a hill. Like when the Velencyans showed up, and betrayed us to the Negaverse. They had machines that sent out waves of chaos... maybe that was the battle you woke up in? But I don't remember seeing you, so I'm afraid I can't confirm it completely, I'm sorry. But.. maybe you can ask around to more white moon people. See if they saw you at the battle and saw what happened. If you were corrupted, maybe you have friends you don't remember, who might be looking for you."

Was that laying it on too thick? Would it come across as disingenuous and manipulative, trying to play on her feelings? Ida was not the most skilled at delicate diplomatic things like this, she preferred to leave that to people like Kerberos where possible, but... maybe, at least, she'd give this girl something to think about? Seeds needed to be sewn, after all, before they could grow into trees.

Her fingers twitched a little. It was the only movement that she made as she digested what it was that Ida had mentioned. So there at least had been a battle on a hilltop. She wasn't imagining that fact. But Velencyans? Who were they? Pressing a hand to the hole in her chest the brunette looked a little put out by possibly having to go out and ask others of the order faction if they knew her. How would she be able to even tell if they were telling the truth? The idea of such a task that lay before her was enormous. Did she even have friends when she was a white moon senshi? Shaking her head and giving the longest of sighs did Hylonome offer Ida a wan smile.

"I don't know if there are others out there that would be as understanding as you have been. You've taken the time to talk and not attack me on first sight. I've not had much interaction with Order but I've heard horror stories that you can't be trusted. I'm pretty sure one could simply say, vice versa, of us chaos senshi, right?"

Moving to sit down on one of the platforms that kids would gleefully climb up and down in the daylight the corrupt senshi gave the area a rather long stare of longing before simply letting her gaze fall to the ground. Shame that she couldn't just fling all her worries away without a care in the world and scramble about this place like she was a kid herself. It was rather all very overwhelming, the fact that she might not have always been who she thought she was. Her gaze looked a little lost as she let it settle on Ida's form again, "thank you though for at least trying to help me out tonight. I think I'm going to be leaving with more questions than the answers I had been hoping to achieve," taking a risk Hylonome extended her hand as if inviting Ida to shake it before slowly pulling back ... "by the way, I don't think I introduced myself. I know who you are, but you don't know who I am. Name's Hylonome of Edelweiss."

Whimsical Blue
PostPosted: Sun May 05, 2024 8:56 pm

Ida smiled sadly as she shrugged.

"I try not to attack first. I try not to attack at all, if I can help it. I have pretty strict rules about it... as long as someone is not actively hurting someone else, or hasn't obviously recently drained or starseeded someone, I try to get them to convince them to leave with my words, rather than my fists. My only interest in this whole thing is protecting the people of this city from being hurt. I... wouldn't otherwise have any issue with the Negaverse." She said, spreading her empty hands.

Which... maybe wasn't the whole truth, if she were being entirely honest, but it didn't seem entirely needful to share that with this girl. She'd still feel the Negaverse was not a good organization, and that their members would be better purified... but there had to be a line somewhere. A framework she would operate within that said this is okay and this is not okay.

"If you want to talk to someone else who will listen and answer your questions, you should visit North End Park. There is often a senshi there named Kerberos, who likes to talk to people. He's pretty easy to find and he is safe to approach, I promise. I know him, and he knows how to contact me if you ever want to talk to me some more." She said as she saw the corrupt reach out and returned the gesture, reaching to touch her hand. "It was nice to meet you, Hylonome. I hope you find what you're looking for."

Hylonome heard the brief sounds of what sounded like someone stirring from where she had left what would have been her energy-drained victim. Her gaze travelled to the play structure before she took note of what it was that Ida was trying to tell her. So there were others out there that were at least, understandably, nonviolent towards chaotic individuals. Knowing that Ida, at least, would not deign to attack if she weren't up to the nefarious task of stealing energy or starseeds helped to alleviate some of the stress she had felt at the beginning of the encounter.

Pausing thoughtfully though she did make a mental note to perhaps seek out this individual, Kerberos, that Ida mentioned as having a specific meeting point in another park before she sighed. What she needed to do in short order it seemed like was to confront Reed about what had happened to her before at least gaining perhaps more insight into things.

"Sorry if I made you worry about things," and the crux of the truth hung in the air between them. She pointed up to where her victim was now apparently sitting up on her own before she nodded, "the idea was that I was trying to keep her safe and out of sight after I took what I did from her which was supposed to be energy only. The starseed pull was simply a mistake in response to feeling your approach."

Hylonome released Ida's hand before she looked down at the ground before glancing back up to look at the Orchid senshi, who was also a princess, with a contemplative look that seemed to convey a hidden sense of gratitude to the order senshi before she took a risk and turned her back on Ida. Her footsteps, muffled by the sand, weren't enough to cover up the sound of her melodic voice calling back to the other, "Hey Ida ... thank you."

The phrase, short as it was, was punctuated with Hylonome's sudden disappearance as she focused on teleporting away from the park. But what she had gained from this encounter would forever stay with her.
