Stepping on what she assumed was a hard rock, Grieve lifted her boot to reveal a die on the ground. Without thinking too much about it, she picked it up and put it her mouth, muttering, “What the ********> around its glowing edges as the world shifted.

Lookin around, Grieve didn't sense any immediate threat and spat out the die. After a few moments she felt an insistent urging at her back to move forward. For a second, she shifted the body on her shoulder and then made a considering grunt before dumping it on the ground like a sack of meat. Which, she thought, it pretty much was. More than she could eat easily, and troublesome in its way.
Reaching down, she ripped off an ear in a practiced motion, the muscle memory of centuries past still lingering on. Pocketing it, she finally relented to the game, whatever it was, and moved forward.
The strange space would either keep the body or dump it, depending on whatever little rules governed the place and its game.
When the voices started laughing, she laughed right along with them and hoped she'd get a chance to make a second or third corpse tonight.

A fog rolled in to the area as she stopped, and Grieve took a moment to assess her other senses. Smelled like fog. Tasted like s**t. Sounded like nothing in particular, not even stupid laughter to accompany her.
She had to crouch low and feel around to get her bearings on what direction was forward, but the next toss of the die quickly settled the answer in full.
"Quit pushing, quit pushin'...yeh want me t'trip?"
It absolutely wanted her to trip.

The next stop brought screeching little beasts, their collective sound enough to make her want to puke up tonight's dumpster dinner. While it may not be huge for most, getting Grieve to throw up without a near endless amount of alcohol was a rare event. Swallowing it back, she tossed the die forward on the ground and covered her ears as best she could to little effect.

Smoke and screams weren't an entirely unfamiliar pairing. But while she'd been to more than one circus on her world or another, she'd yet to experience the excitement of all three at once. It wasn't the worst combination, to be honest.
The biggest issue was that Grieve thought she could smell the nearby food stalls as well. (She did not.) It made her want to turn off the path, maybe see what more the burning circus had to offer.

Sticky ground wasn't new either. To be honest, gross and dangerous terrain were almost homey. But...this seemed like she was entering big nasty spider territory. And while Grieve wouldn't mind roasted spider for dinner, she had a feeling this realm wouldn't be letting her take home any trophies if it sent out something that actually fought with her.
Plucking up the die off the nasty ground, she ignored the ominous skittering and focused on moving closer to what was (hopefully) a ********' exit.

Another sound attack, though not nearly as unpleasant as whatever the ******** were before. But this one came with more features. More figures and glimpses of the hunt. Of being hunted. It gripped her instincts despite knowing that it was likely another magical illusion, and was hard to ignore.
Grieve rushed a little more than she'd liked, rolling the die to get the ******** out now.

The exist, it had to be the exit, was so ******** close. And here she was stopped and then trapped in a fall as she felt the realm collapse underfoot. This at least...
It got her heart racing, but it also had her laughing in a mad echo of that first area. Gloved hands eventually found purchase and she kept laughing as she pulled herself up. "I've fallen to a lot ********' worse." It came hand in hand with a love of heights, after all.
The potential to fall was part of the thrill.

Sauntering toward the exit, Grieve kept laughing, "That all you got?"
And then, before she left, "You can keep the body as tribute."
It'd save her some clean up, after all.
