Static Plea (5) - With Halloween just around the corner, television stations and streaming services are constantly playing various spooky themed movies and episodes of your favorite shows. When you sit down to watch something in particular, the screen goes static. You try to change the channel or pick a different show but every one of them is static. If you continue to watch (or attempt to fix the television), an eerie voice comes across the speakers begging for help and warns you that they're coming. No matter what you do or say, they only repeat the same phrases. When you turn off the television and turn it back on again, everything has turned to its regularly scheduled programming.

It never failed to either amuse or annoy Richard with how some people seemed to be surprised whenever they learned that yes, he did play video games and watch tv. A good portion of the time it seemed like they only expected him to do physical hobbies due to his build. A newbie Ranger had spotted him playing Honkai Star Rail on his phone while on his lunch break and had just about blue screened, one of the funnier reactions in Rick's opinion. The memories of his surprised face made Rick chuckle as he moved around the room getting thing set up had he wanted it.

He knew that there was going to be a marathon of the Scary Movie franchise starting in just a few minutes thanks to advertisements earlier this month and he wouldn't mind watching them again. Rick could see Lexus curled up in a blanket nest on one side of the couch as he set down a bowl of popcorn and a glass of tea on the side table. He carefully sat down on his side so as to not disturb the sleeping ferret, giving a fond smile at the white ball of fluff before turning hit attention back to the currently off tv.

The remote was easily close at hand thanks to his earlier preparations so he simply picked it up and his the power button, settling back on the couch cushions as he did so. However to his surprise, the tv didn't turn onto the last channel he had left it on, but rather turned on to a screen of static. He furrowed his brow in mild annoyance and tried to change the channel to see if that would fix the issue. It seemed to persist no matter which channel he tried to change it to, even when he tried to change it to the blue-ray player instead.

He was about to get up and try to see if something was unplugged which was causing this static when a hair raising voice seemed to speak out of the static. "Please! Please help me! They are coming!" It begged in it's eerie, low pitch. He couldn't place it as feminine or masculine through the distortion as it repeated itself over and over. While he tried to change the channel to see if it was just a show that was breaking through the static, it still continued.

Eventually, he just turned off the tv. Rick looked over at Lexus to see the ferret looking at the tv with disgruntled body language, clearly having been disturbed by the sounds. Rick then looked back at the tv and after a moment turned it back on to see if the static and voice would still be there only to find that it had fixed itself. "Well that was something." He said with a sigh then turned the tv to the channel he needed. Thankfully for him the marathon hadn't started just yet as the previous show was currently in the credits. He let himself relax as it seemed like the weird event was over and done with.
