Life in Stone (14) - An artist–or many–went to great lengths to make sure this place was covered in art. Sculptures and statues of all sorts have been put up around the cemetery. Some pieces look like they might have been in a set–beautiful women in long flowing dresses and faceless angels seem to be the most common figures. There are a few odd pieces–a handsome, but monstrous looking man lies in pieces in the ground, and little demonic figures are almost equally completely destroyed. There are no names or identifying marks on the statues, and the stone is heavy but difficult to identify. The statues watch over the cemetery with a solemn presence.

And, they move. You can’t prove it, of course, but more than once, a statue seems to shift position, or even drift to another part of the cemetery entirely. No matter where you stand, their eyes always seem to be on you. You never see them make a move, but they always see you make yours.

The Hawkins Cemetery wasn’t open to the public and had quite a few signs around saying that trespassing wasn’t allowed, no one but workers could be in, etc. which of course meant to a hot-headed teen like Sara that she had to get in there no matter what just… because.

Sara really was the definition of “brain not fully developed until age 25”. She had come back at night, after scouting the area for any cameras, there were none, which made the place an excellent target for anyone that wanted to do a little vandalizing. Not Sara though, she only wanted to check the place out and see what the big deal was that they didn’t let the public in. Other cemeteries allowed the public, so something special must be going on with this one, right?

She had also gone while she was powered up as Corrupt Triplite. If she did happen to see anyone she knew, at least they wouldn’t be able to recognize her in this form. And she could probably beat them up if need be as well. After all, she would never say no to a fight. At least one where she was even or better than her opponent. Call her a hypocrite but she didn’t want to chance being killed if she went up against someone who had a high-power than her.

She had thought that there would be more to the cemetery than what she was seeing, even if she did feel like she was being watched by… something that wasn’t there. But so far there was just some creepy statues, tombstones, and a whole underground complex of mysteries that wasn’t mentioned anywhere.

Boring stuff. Though for the last one she wouldn’t mind coming back to explore it with friends.

She still couldn’t help feeling as though there was something going on in this cemetery that she just couldn’t put her finger on. It wasn’t the unusual amount of fog that had decided to roll in, or the ravens that appeared to be gathering for a murder. But out of the corner of her eyes, she could have sworn that the various statues within the cemetery… moved. Which was ridiculous first of all, because if that was going on then wouldn’t it be some sort of chaos magic or something? And wouldn’t she be able to tell that they moved and not that they just looked slightly different than they were before?

And as she was walking around the cemetery she could see some of the same statues. Or whoever was in charge of this place really liked some of the same statues and had multiple of them throughout the cemetery. Still, it was giving her a bad feeling and after only an hour she found herself leaving the cemetery, disappointed that she hadn’t found anything more significant and leaving just because of a creepy “feeling”. It was embarrassing to say the least! She wasn’t supposed to be afraid of creepy statues! She was a Corrupt Senshi, a basic but still!

Perhaps when she was a Super or an Eternal she could come back to the cemetery and destroy some of the statues for fun. And just to prove that she had enough power to do so.
