Maybe it’s hungry, or mad, and you look like a prime target. If it attacks, you’re in for a rough time. Scratches cause an itch that might last for up to a day, but the bites are the worst. Being bitten by these bats leaves two small marks that will itch for a few hours. Then, exhaustion and fatigue sets in and you become extremely sensitive to external stimulus; skin feels like it becomes overheated in sunlight, bright lights are painful to the eyes, and smells and sounds can seem overwhelming. The victim will feel constantly cold and hungry, no matter how much they eat or drink. They may also be prone to agitation and bouts of violence. These afflictions may last only a few hours or a few days and then suddenly disappear. (Being attacked by the bat can be counted as a battle once per character provided there are at least two powered characters involved; no matter how much you seem to damage the bat, it will always fly away and hardly even seems worse for the wear. You cannot track it or severely damage it. This prompt can be used for the battle or the afterwards of being attacked, or anything else you might be inspired to play!) Home, he had made it. Everything had worked out in the end with the bat, to a degree. Lacerta was safe even if he had been bitten in the process, it wasn't as bad as that first time. At least that's what he had thought at first but now that some time had passed, the marks itched, and something didn't feel quite right. Pulling off his coat and shoes, he made his way to the closet to grab some blankets before moving to the couch. Even as he wrapped himself up with them, he was starting to shiver. It was almost like what he had gone through a few months back, but he wasn't sure why. Pulling his phone out from his pocket, he winced at its brightness as he sent a text to Liam asking them to bring soup home since he wasn't feeling well. With that done, he wrapped himself with the blanket even more so he could block some of the light out. He didn't want to get up to turn the light off with how he was starting to feel, it was all starting to hit him now. Maybe whatever the bat did took time to take effect. It was certainly a much different experience from the last time, maybe it was because they had killed the bat last time and this time it had escaped back into the night. Taking his glasses off, he reached his hand out of the bundle and placed them on the table so they wouldn't get damaged. This was really not something he had wanted to deal with tonight but it was still better than the doppelgangers in the past, it was sort of becoming a mantra of his. It could always be worse, there was always that grave waiting for him somewhere.

Liam, who had been on his way home, had gotten the text while on the bus which would take him home and to Aloysius. Seeing the message he got off at the next stop so he could find some food for the other, soup was what he'd asked for, and decided to grab something for himself as well. Now knowing what the other was suffering, but gathering it was something, Liam managed to make a quick stop in a small drug store to pick up a few things. The trip was fast, he didn't want the osoup getting cold, and than he was back on a bus and headed for home.
The walk fro mthe bus stop to the front door was filled with Liam worrying about Aloysius and what could be wrong with him, the other hadn't said, and he hurridly jammed his key into the lock and unlocked the door. Calling out for th eother as he stepped inside.
"I brought soup." Calling out as he toed off his shoes and headed into the living room...and stopping. "Blankets...." Looking over the others huddled figure on the couch. "Maybe you should have hot soup after a hot shower...." If he was that cold, and he did appear to be freezing as Liam got closer. He was certain he saw the other shivering. "I'll help you upstairs and get something you can eat off of while keep yourself under the hot shower."

He couldn’t really be sure how much time had passed but he started nodding off by the time Liam got there. For some reason he felt so very tired on top of the shivering. “Thank yyyyou.” His teeth chattered as he moved to try and sit up but he wasn’t really making much progress. “I was helping the young Miss Lacerta and got bit. I have no idea what is happening to me. I feel so tired and so cold.” Sticking his hand out of the blanket mass, he reached for Liam. “Light hurts, can you flip the switch off?”Laying there for a bit longer as he tried to will himself to get up, he really didn’t enjoy any of these symptoms. It took a bit of leverage but, he managed to get halfway up using the arm of the couch. Waiting for the tell tale sound of the light switch, he kept the blanket over his face to block out the light. “I am not sure going upstairs is viable, I feel really out of sorts. But maybe the soup will help, it was the only thing I could think of really. I doubt the drug store carries anything to help against bats.”

"You got bit...by what? Wait, never mind. I heard of the bat attacks around campus." And he was going to assume that's what his partner was talking about. He'd been attacked, and bitten, by a bat. He'd had a classmate attacked by one, they'd gone on and on about the effects of it, so this made sense. He didn't like this though, he had no reason to, but this wasn't too bad. He could work with this, because this wasn't as bad as it could be.
Already moving to turn the lights down before returning to the others side, glad to see he was at least trying to get up. "You will make it upstairs if I need to find a way to carry you up. A hot shower will do you some good. I'll let you enjoy the hot water while I get some soup for you." Then he'd get the other into bed, the one upstairs. This here was a good reason for his continued trips to the gym, the times he needed to drag, carry, or in some way get the other upstairs when he was unable to do so on his own.
"I'll work on my homework while you rest in bed. I can settle my laptop in my lap so I can work." Already hooking an arm under the others own arm and about the mass of blankets that he was covered in.

"Yes, though I did get it back for biting me." He smiled a bit as Liam helped him up, even if he sagged against them from exhaustion. There wouldn't be any arguing from him though, the idea of a shower sounded really nice and he was looking forward to some soup to try warming up with. Normally the cold didn't bother him as much but this was worse than that, everything ached and hurt on top of feeling like he was freezing. "As much of a sight that would be to see, with you carrying me, I think this will work for getting me up there." Leaning against them he started up the stairs, even if his legs were starting to feel like lead. It would be nice to just sleep all this off afterward so he could get back to figuring things out. He had to figure out the other half he was meant to bring in for Londonite, it had been a bit since he had brought them in and hopefully, he'd hear back about things shortly so he could get them both trained up at the same time. He'd tell Liam about that after it was sorted out a bit more as well. He'd make sure that anyone he trained knew to be nice to the dark mirror senshi as long as they also played nice.

"I'm sure you got the bat back for biting you." At least he hoped the thing was did, as it should be. But the idea it was leaving such a lasting reminder was worrisome.
"It might be a sight to see, me carrying you, I'm pretty certain I could do it." Even if the other was taller than he was. So long as Aloysius could get up stairs though Liam wouldn't push it, wouldn't pick the other up and carry him, as they both made their way up the stairs slowly. Reaching the bathroom he helped the other sit down on the toilet seat. "You should strip down and I'll get the shower going and heated up enough." At least he hoped it was enough, he didn't want to burn the others skin but he wanted him warm as well.

"Not as well as the first time but still good enough it should keep away if it happens upon either of us again." It felt good to get something like that dealt with and he'd do it again year after year if it could help keep the thing away from people. Smiling a bit at that thought as he shivered, he worked through all the buttons on his clothes at a snail's pace. His fingers felt like they were in ice water as he went making things difficult but once it was all done he reached over to put his hands beneath the water to try warming them. "Oh..." It felt warm but that heat felt like it sapped away into the air before doing anything to his chills. Getting up with a start, he nearly fell as he got into the shower and tried turning the heat on the water up a bit more. Steam rolled off the floor but that icy feeling wouldn't go away. Something else was bubbling up against the unfairness of it all as he turned the cold water side off to just let the heat come through. Red spots started appearing against the pale scars on his skin but nothing helped and before he realized anything, he had punched the tile near the knob that controlled the temperature. Blinking as that anger at not being able to get warm faded away, he looked at his bleeding hand before looking back over at Liam with a look of horror and confusion. He couldn't get any words out as his thoughts swirled around how cold he was, how hungry he was, and how flashes of white-hot anger were trying to break through. Holding his injured hand, he leaned back against the other wall of the shower and out of the steaming water as he shivered.

"Well, I don't think you smacking it around will keep it away from me." Unless Aloysius was with him, which given how the other was right now he seriously doubted. Watching the other strip down, and get into the shower, he sighed. "Is it helping? You still seem to be shivering." He still seemed so cold - too cold. He looked paler than usual, which was saying something, the other had at least some color normally.
Watching the other, waiting to see if the hot water helped any, he was shocked to see him turn the cold off altogether. Watching as his skin turned red, form the heat. "That's not a good idea. Even if you're cold your skin still won't handle that heat." And before he could say anything else, or move to turn on some cold water, the other was punchign and wall and stepping back than. he looked shocked with himself, maybe even horrified. "Ok, so you don't like being cold. I wouldn't either...let's see if you can't warm u p with some hot food. I'll get some hot soup and you stay here...with the hot water running on you. Do you want tea as well?" Anything hot which he could think of, in order to try and help the other.

Nodding for a moment, he reached and turned some of the cold side of the tap back on. "Sorry... I am not feeling quite right. It is more than the cold now." He looked at the busted skin on his hand before rinsing it gingerly under the water. "Sorry for this scene..." Confusion laced through his words as he stood under the water. It felt warm but did nothing to ease the chills and shivering. "Tea please then maybe digging out the heated blanket." He felt hollow as he stared at the tile ahead of him, everything felt wrong in a way he'd never dealt with before. Would the tea or blanket even help? Would anything help?That thought floated idly as he went through the motions of cleaning off while waiting for them to return. The bite marks hadn't looked that bad so what was going on? Was it because this had been a much larger bat compared to the ones in the past? It was hard to think between the need to warm up, the growling of his stomach, and that random bubbling up of anger. He'd never lashed out like that before and it scared him.

"I can tell, it's ok. The cold has to be affecting you." He could picture acting out when the cold got to you as it appeared to be getting to Aloysius. Though as the other mentioned it was more than just cold he wondered what else it was, he'd ask once he returned with tea and soup. "You don't need to apologize." He called ove rhis shoulder on the way back down the stairs, so he could get hot things for the other. He did hope they had enough blankets for the other, and he wondered just how much heat he could handle. He was not much for laying under a mountain of blankets and smothering himself. He'd leave that to other people.
Working on heating soup, that was something he made sure they always in the fridge, soup was easy to reheat and he bought it fresh made from vairous places in the city. Different kinds of soup from different places, some did some kinds better than others, so he kept a stock pile going this time of year. Warm food for cold months. It was a luxary he'd not had growing up. He hadn't had food so easily at hand, especially something like real hearty soups like some of these, some foods were a bit thinner and lacking. The soup he grabbed was a nice hearty one, and the container was emptied into a pot and heated. While that worked he went to set the water on the heat up, and grabbed the tea bags so he could make the other a drink.
It was with a last second that he grabbed a thermous instead of a cup. "Let's go for a lot of tea." He needed something hot for the other - a lot of hot things. He was certain that more tea would be a good thing...so would a full bowl of soup. Once things were hot, really hot, he went to set everything onto a tray and headed back up the stairs. "Have you managed to warm up at all?" He called out, hoping the other heard him, as he passed the bathroom on the way to one of the bedrooms. "I'll find the heated blanket and grab every blanket I can, hurry up so you can get the food and tea while it's hot." Near burning hot.

Giving up on the water, he turned the faucets off and dried off. Even the heat from the hair dryer seemed to dissipate before doing anything other than drying off his hair. Grabbing the warmest robe from the closet in the bathroom he pulled it around himself as Liam walked by. "No, nothing is working." The words fell out so softly as he shuffled to follow them. The lights in the halls hurt, making him dizzy, and causing him to lean against the wall as he made his way to the bedroom.
The smell of the soup hit him as he sat down on the bed causing his stomach to growl more as he pulled some of the blankets around himself. The shivering wouldn't go away and at this point, it hurt his jaw from when his teeth chattered. Leaning against the headboard for support, he sagged a bit more from the fatigue. "Thank you." Taking a slow sip of the tea, it felt good and tasted good but something felt wrong still. Even as he started eating the soup, it was as if he hadn't even eaten yet. Making a miserable noise, he pulled his knees up and curled in on himself. Face pressed into the blankets, he shook his head at the absurdity of it, the unfairness of it.
How long would this last? Was this how things would be from now on?
That last thought hit hard as he peeked back up at Liam as he motioned for them to get closer. "How long has it been since I texted you?" He couldn't remember, more so, he couldn't really tell how much time had passed. It felt like an eternity since he'd been warm since he'd eaten since he'd rested.

It was obvious the hot water hadn't helped, even though it should have, he'd seen the steam in the bathroom. It should have done something - anything. Liam had been hopeful, and assumed the heat would eventually win out, but whatever magic this was it was stronger. Looking over his shoulder, watching the other follow him into the bedroom, he set the tray down and let the other get himself comfortable all bundled up.
"I'll go grab the heated blanket. Stay here and try and warm up." Even though it seemed an impossioble request of him, he still had to hope something would work. He'd learned to start hoping for things...because he'd found a home and a family of his own. It wasn't the one he'd been born from but it was his and it was all he'd wanted really, he jkust hadn't fully understood it. He had always wanted a family....but did family need to mean birth parents and siblings who shared the same blood as you? He didn't think so anymore, as the days went by he became more and more sure of this.
He still planned to reach out to his birth father, to perhaps meet the man, but that didn't make him family. Liam, and his father, would decide if they were to be family. Then they would work on defining how their familial relationship would be.
Watching the other for a moment he shook his head at the question, having lost himself in his thoughts for a few moments there. "An hour...maybe a bit more." It had been a bit and surely the other should have warmed up by now, but obviously the magic was too strong.
"Let me grab that blankket and I'll join you then. I have some school work to do....if you don't mind me doing it in bed?" He asked though he was certain Aloysius wouldn't mind at all, his partner was pretty easy going about these sorts of things. It was nice to have the support of his partner, and his sister, in his want to become an accountant and the schooling it took.

Moving from the bed wasn't going to be an option at this point, between the chills and the pile of things around him. "Okay." A soft mumble as he finished the soup, it was more a distraction than a solution at this point. It tasted good at least, even if his stomach still growled after he moved the bowl and tray away so he could stretch out a bit more. The thermos of tea felt nice against his face as he moved to lie down under all the blankets. Only an hour? That was all the time that had passed?
Pulling the cover over his face to block out more light, he curled back up some more. "I never mind you working on schoolwork, but yes please bring more blankets." It had been sort of a regular occurrence, watching them work through accounting homework and being bewildered by their ability to make any sense of the formulas and rules regarding it. At least it was a safe profession that could be done from home if they wanted. Maybe if he could fall asleep, time would start to pass again and this whole problem would fall away. Exhaustion had been settling in this whole time like bags of sand being piled on top of him. Maybe after Liam got back with the blankets, he'd try sleeping this off. It wasn't something he wanted to be left alone during, he didn't want to suffer through things alone anymore, even if it was a bit selfish sometimes.

Liam had moved the tray off the bed, placing it on the floor, before heading off to get his school bag so he could work on things, he didn't want to be late on his homework or try and rush through anything either. He wanted to get everything done and to take his time doing it, so it was right and done well. Returning to the bedroom he set his bag on the bed, a heating blanket drapped over his left arm, he stossed it onto the bundle of Aloysius under the bedding. "I found it." He just needed to go around and plug it into the outlet next to the bed.
Moving around to find himself something to lounge about in he changed his clothing, not wanting to wear his dirty clothing on the others bed, before he went to plug the blankket in and spread it out over the bedding keeping Aloysius from view. Climbing up onto the bed and moving towards the bundle of blankets and human. "Get some rest." Reaching out to lay a hand on the other, or rather on the blankets covering the other. "I can move that thermos if you'd like." It didn't seem like something comfortable to lay against or lay on. Flicking the heating blanket on as he spoke
Unzipping his school bag Liam pulled a textbook, notebook, and his laptop from it's depth and made himself comfortable so he could get to work on things.

Mumbling for a moment, he rolled the thermos so that the other warmer side was touching his face again. "No, it helps." Shifting under the blanket he moved closer as they sat down. The heating blanket seemed to help, just the slightest as it started to heat up. "I will try, thank you." Leaning into their hand he closed his eyes and tried to go to sleep as the shivering started to lessen just a bit.
