Quote: Bat Behemoth (2) - Construction, deforestation, typical Destiny City mishaps–you never know what you’re going to get around here. It starts with a squeak in the sky, and the flapping of heavy wings. If it’s dark enough, maybe you don’t even see the giant bat descending on you. They were pests a few years ago but seemed to have cleared out for the most part–except for a stray one here or there. This one is large even by comparison. It has an eight foot wingspan–a behemoth, growing fat and large in the years since the bats last descended on Destiny City. Maybe you’re lucky, maybe it just swoops by.
Maybe it’s hungry, or mad, and you look like a prime target. If it attacks, you’re in for a rough time. Scratches cause an itch that might last for up to a day, but the bites are the worst. Being bitten by these bats leaves two small marks that will itch for a few hours. Then, exhaustion and fatigue sets in and you become extremely sensitive to external stimulus; skin feels like it becomes overheated in sunlight, bright lights are painful to the eyes, and smells and sounds can seem overwhelming. The victim will feel constantly cold and hungry, no matter how much they eat or drink. They may also be prone to agitation and bouts of violence. These afflictions may last only a few hours or a few days and then suddenly disappear.
(Being attacked by the bat can be counted as a battle once per character provided there are at least two powered characters involved; no matter how much you seem to damage the bat, it will always fly away and hardly even seems worse for the wear. You cannot track it or severely damage it. This prompt can be used for the battle or the afterwards of being attacked, or anything else you might be inspired to play!) Crocus had already spent enough time draining a bit of energy here and there for the evening. His most recent encounter in Mirrorspace had reawakened his desire to be there for his court and maybe if they supplied more energy to their domain it wouldn't easily go haywire again. He knew it was a long shot, but he'd been ignoring his duties for a few years anyway. It wouldn't hurt to be just a tad bit more active. Besides, the night was cool, but not so bad considering the time of year. It was nice to get out of the house sometimes.
He was making his way back toward home with he felt an energy signature nearby, he didn't pay it too much mind though. He wasn't far from a mirror if he really needed to escape and he tended to have more slightly positive experiences than negative ones. That was just a little bonus of being a part of the Dark Mirror Court. While they weren't exactly good they also weren't flat out bad either. It had been a while since he'd had an encounter with someone not in his court, so he ignored it and if they came closer he'd be willing to hear them out.
An entirely different encounter was waiting for him though. He heard a squeak from above him, but bats were always around in Destiny City, especially this late at night. He continued on his way until he heard the whoosh of wind accompanied by giant wing flap though. He just barely managed to dodge it in time to avoid the insanely larger creature that had lunged down at him. It took off into the sky again, but didn't appear to be running away.
"Do I look like a tasty snack to you?" Crocus was not surprised at all to learn of a giant bat running around. This place was always full of strange and weird surprises, even more so this time of year. He was a little more concerned with the order presence coming closer to him. The last thing he wanted was them to think he had something to do with this monster.

Following this aura was making Mechelen have questions. It didn’t feel…it didn’t feel like anything she had felt before…and the worst part of it…was it didn’t feel…warm. Or comforting…or…anything like she was used to, and therefore, she was absolutely on her guard.
The sight of the person wasn’t something that the Page really had time to register…not with that same awful giant bat monster that was chasing him. For a moment, she nearly felt as though she was going to shut down. This was one bad thing too many and she simply couldn’t do it. From the first encounter with the bat, the gameboard…the demon dogs...Mechelen just couldn’t do it again.
Her knees trembled as she stared and finally she shook her head firmly to try and break the paralysis that fear had inflicted on her. “Don’t let it bite you. It bit me a few weeks ago and I swear it turned me into a vampire for a few days! Do you have anything to throw at it?”
She didn’t. Again, she inwardly cursed her weapon. The flimsy light small tapestry was…useless.
But…there was a rock…and so Mechelen picked that up and threw it with all of her strength at the creature.

Corcus had his full attention on the bat, yet still he could feel the odd signature coming closer. It didn't quite seem like something he had felt before. Only now was he realizing that, but the squeaks and flaps from above were keeping him more focused. Where was it going? Where was it going to come down? The last thing he wanted was to disappear because some giant bat had taken him down. How embarrassing, how tragic to have Avior out there looking for him somewhere. Anywhere.
All of the sudden there was a shout form nearby. What a relief that it appeared the individual was looking to help him out in the situation. He did not however have anything to throw at the bat aside from his fists. At least he knew to try to avoid it's head.
The bat was so close now and he braced himself, not wanting to use his magic while in such close proximity to someone else. A rock thrown by the other caused it to change course though, it was enough of a distraction to make it falter and Crocus swung at it when it was distracted. His fist hit one of the wings. It caused the creature to rethink and swoop back into the air. The gust of wind caused him to take a step back, it was just that close. Thankfully he had avoided being bitten or scratched and he was so thankful to whoever had come to his aid.
"That was some good advise, thank you." They had a moment to exchange some pleasantries. The creature had to fly away before considering if it was worth it to come after them again. "My name is Crocus, of the Dark Mirror Court." He had turned briefly to greet her before returning his attention to the skies, trying to be aware of any sounds that could mean it was returning for another try at a yummy snack.

“I’m Mechelen, Page of Lysithea.” She would have offered a hand, but Mechelen’s eyes were still on the skies, hoping that the damn thing wouldn’t come back to try and get a chunk out of the both of them. “I’m going to say something, and I need you to just trust me, but…if we can find a leaf pile I think we can get away from this thing? It sounds absolutely stupid, I know, and I’m appreciating you even listening to me sound like an idiot, but they open like…leaf portals? I’ve done it twice so far this past month…once by choice and once by accident but…they just. Dump you somewhere else…at least it’ll get us away from this…this monster.”
Looking away for a moment, the Page looked at the ground, hoping that there would be a convenient pile of leaves for them to just jump into and flee to safety. Like some kind of deranged Alice in Wonderland. “I don’t like this bat. It’s not a youma. I don’t know what it is and like. Between this and the demon dogs that chased me the other night…I’m over all of this s**t.”

Page? Crocus had certainly not met a Page before. It was different, but he didn't mind considering the circumstances. Even after introducing herself she had even more information to give. It could be a lie, definitely. Considering she had been the one to help him avoid the creature to begin with though, he was very open to her advice. Leaf piles were all over the city right now and not very hard to find.
"I believe you!" He had met youma before and whatever they were facing was very real and very dangerous. It was also, apparently not giving up the chase. He heard those giant wings coming closer to them. "I also hope you're not too mad about this!" Luck was on their side, a pile of leaves swept up by the city was not too far away, behind the page. He ran toward her and locked arms with her to pull them away. The beating sound of wings was so close as he pulled them into the pile of leaves.
He wasn't sure if they'd end up in the same place or not. He had no idea how this worked. This could also be a trap, but would she really set him up for something this terrible? He hoped not.

“The only thing I’m mad about is the fact that that thing is still running…flying around and terrorizing people. Mainly me but. I’m sure he’s hurt others besides just me!”
When they jumped into the leaf pile, there was that familiar feeling of falling, and Mechelen scrunched her nose up as she watched the wall of leaves surround then and after a few moments they were out, in another area of the city and mercifully, there was absolutely no sounds of bat wings to greet them.
“...Okay. Okay I think that worked. Holy s**t.”
Her knees had begun to tremble and Mechelen walked over to a bench that was just a few feet away and sank onto it, placing her face in her hands. “...I didn’t realize that I was so afraid of bats. This. Might be an issue.”

There was no protest from the Page as he pulled her into the leaf pile. It was new experience for him as he felt the sensation of falling. Falling to who knows where until suddenly they were outside again. The cityscape was different around them and he let go of her. She walked away from him and settled in on a bench not too far away.
He looked to the skies even as she spoke. It had worked. They were no where close to where they had seen the creature before. There was no sound in the air to tell him otherwise, so with a sigh of relief he placed his hand on his hips and looked to the individual who had saved him from further strife.
"I don't know about that. If you were so afraid of bats, would you have really come to my rescue?" Crocus had a soft smile on his face. He knew this city could be crazy, and especially scary. If the bat or even himself, had been truly terrifying she would have avoided them both. Is an enemy of your enemy, not your friend after all?
"Peronally, I'm really glad to have run into you. My name is Crocus. I'm the Dark Mirror Senshi of Saffron and I would like to know who was brave enough to help me this evening." As he spoke to her, Crocus had approached slowly and given a light bow before offering his hand to the other. Whoever or whatever she was, she had been a tremendous amount of help to him this evening.

“Well, I don’t think I’ll be seeking them out after this month…let me tell you that. I never realized that like. Real monsters were real. I’ve come to terms with youma and all that but like. All the rest of this is ******** that I didn’t sign up for.”
…Not that she had signed up to become Mechelen regardless but…still. This was just more s**t than she was really ready for.
“It’s nice to meet you Crocus. I’m not. Not really sure what the Dark Mirror thing means. Or the Senshi part. I’ve heard a bit about them but…you don’t…”
Lifting her head she gave a half confused smile. “You don’t feel like most of the…well. Scratch that. You don’t feel like any of the other auras I’ve followed. But you don’t seem very…enemy like either. As I said…I’m Mechelen, Page of Lysithea. It’s nice to meet you…but I have the uncomfortable feeling that…if there hadn’t been this mutual awful monster bat…we wouldn't be starting off as friends? Please correct me if I’m wrong…”
…She hoped that she was, honestly. He seemed nice!

Mechelen must have been fairly unlucky to run into any unsavory Senshi member. perhaps, whatever she was, he fellows were looking out for her. That was nice. He had met people too unaware of this world before. Someone was shielding her, he hoped. Or, truly, she had been incredibly lucky. Either way he moved to have a sit with her with a little chuckle.
"I am different, that's for sure." He knew members of his own community could be strong willed as well, but he had never really been like that. He was offered a choice on his awakening, one most people wouldn't have received.
"The Dark Mirror court tries...to avoid the war going on on Earth. We're working on creating a new world. So that, whoever comes out on top here, we have our own place to be." Honestly, Crocus could have ended up a true enemy to Mechelen had someone else discovered him that day in the park. He didn't like to think about it that way though. His path had brought him to many friends and obstacles. In the end, he was happy where he was, he wouldn't be who he was today without that encounter.
"It is true, that maybe if we hadn't had such an encounter we wouldn't be friends. I can't say this of everyone in my court, but we try to remain neutral. I can say I would have helped you if you were in my situation, but there's no way for you to believe that." He leaned back into the bench and crossed his arms with a sigh.
"On the whole we tend to me a little more...diplomatic though." He shrugged his shoulder and un folded his arms, leaning into his knees with his elbows. There's not a real way for me to return the favor now, but should you need my help in the future, I'd love to provide it."

“Eh, there’s no need. I can’t imagine anyone being so horrible that I wouldn’t have saved them…that bat was bad news and the bite was even worse news….that lasted for days. I told you it pretty much made me a vampire it…wasn’t something I’d wish on my worst enemy.” It was interesting…his assertion that he was a part of a group of people who didn’t…want to do anything with the Earth…but were trying to make their own space…which…
Made some sense, she supposed. It also made her sigh and realize that she really needed to go to her Wonder. “I’ve been avoiding going to Space. I need to do it. Maybe now that I’ve met with the Hell Bat again…it’ll kick me in the butt and I’ll actually go up. It was really nice meeting you, and I’m glad you’re diplomatic and don’t like…want to fight, but I don’t think…it’s a good idea for either of us to like…be super friends or anything like that.”
With a heavy sigh, Mechelen stood up and looked at Crocus for a moment. “I’m going to go to my Wonder now. I’ve been putting it off and putting it off…and you’ve inspired me to go…so.”
She shrugged and gave a slight grin. “Wish me luck?”

Crocus appreciated her thought on the matter. Maybe sometime in the future, she wouldn't need his help. That was fine. What were the odds that he would actually be around to help anyway? She was oddly realistic about their situation. Somehow she had still helped him though.
He couldn't stop the little laugh that escaped him though. "That's fine, I don't honestly know if I'd be in the area to help you sometime." Still, even if he couldn't help her in the future, it looked like he had helped her in the present. He would love to learn about space a bit more. But that was fine. He had something better then space, something outside of space that could existence and sustain them. Whether it was Earth or Mirrorspace there was a place for him.
And while Crocus didn't have a clue as to what her wonder was, he still wished her the best.
Crocus only smiled as he stood up and clapped his hands. "Good luck Mechelen! I know you can do this!" He didn't fully understand what a 'wonder' meant. But he was sure whatever it was would like her. There was no reason not to. Even was she disappeared he had a smile on his face. He waited for a brief moment before leaving the area. Once far enough away he powered down and headed toward home. He was confidetn that he'd come home safely thanks to their encounter.
