Once like a dream
You looked at me
And everything felt new
Time flicked away
The path seemed to fade
My hope restored by you

"FINALLY!" Lottie exclaimed as Team Sun walked through an archway and into a large amphitheatre. They were surrounded by rows and rows of open seats on a sloped edge that overlooked a flat arena ahead of them. Hope's arena was unique in the way that it was a long oval that stretched out from the seating area and towards a cliff, where much of the land around the academy could be seen far below, as well as some mountains in the far distance. Aside from this, there was nothing of great value. This forced the students to use nothing but their own skills to win. Many other students were already sat along the rows closest to the arena's ground beneath them. Lottie wrapped an arm around Tsuna, with difficulty thanks to their height difference. "We NEED to take first spot, I'm aching to show Merlin Academy what we've got." Micha'el was behind the girls, adjusting his glasses as he looked around for familiar faces. Aoi's team was already here and waving them over to sit with them.

After a short while, a ringing could be heard from the air around them. The dull winter light of the outside world around them began to shine with a warmth. An enchantment had activated, and on the arena's floor a golden light condensed. "What's that?" Micha'el asked his team, leaning forwards from his seat. The light grew, turning from a glowing light into a bulb of orange and gold. When it blossomed and unravelled its beautiful, ethereal petals, a glowing barrier appeared around the entire amphitheatre, creating an almost invisible shelter from the elementals above. It caused the entire area to be lit, as if by a gentle morning sun's glow. When the blossom wilted and vanished, high heels could be heard from somewhere below. Arriving from an unseen archway, Maverly Asche appeared and turned to face them all. "Much better" she said, "I will not be having any winter chills or rain interrupting our training. Now then, who wants to show what they can do? I believe you all operate on teams, correct?"
"Team Sun! Us!" Lottie shouted, stretching her hand up as high as possible whilst jumping on the spot. Maverly raised a brow, barely angling her head to look up at her. "Very well, Team Sun, please make your way down. I'll be taking notes on your performance and giving feedback tomorrow. Now which team would like to prove themselves against them?" At first, Maverly thought she was going to see Aoi raise her hand, but then somebody else spoke up. It was the Onsen twins speaking in unison as they appeared from an archway behind the other students, fashionably late, with JayBird in tow behind them. "We three would like to perform" they said together. Maverly raised another brow. By now, Team Sun was on the arena floor and Lottie was letting out an exasperated sigh. Micha'el rolled his eyes, but didn't say anything as to not bother their tutor. "I have two things I must say before you take one step further" Maverly began, slapping her riding crop against her empty palm. A warm glow emitted from it for a moment, as if the light of the morning sun had caressed her skin. "If you expect to participate in my classes I expect you to arrive on time. Your blatant disregard for others and their time is garishly unpleasant and should you decide to ignore this advise again I will be sure to send you to your headmistress."
"We are merely-"
"Kaito Onsen, do not be a bad role model for your new teammate. It doesn't look good on you. Now my other word of advise. Work as a team. Kaito, Kotaro, JayBird - please make your way down."

All that you know
You'll be leaving it behind
Look deep inside
Soon enough you'll find
The courage to win
Now you'd best be on your way
For you have a demon to slay!

Cruel fate sets in motion
And no one else knows why
Waiting for the day to come when will it show up
Claiming what's before my eyes
Now I can feel the fire burning deep within me
I'll be the hero and no one can stop me

JayBird Song

Lottie expressed her excited loud as the walked through the underground halls into the massive amphitheater. Her voice echoed off the walls and into the open space as they searched for seating in the stands. The arena was an elongated oval that stretched from the seating to a cliffside. The land around the academy and the majestic mountains could be overlooked, but none of the outside could be used to their advantage in battle. Lottie wrapped an arm around her waist to which Tsuna playfully roughed up her hair. "Don't worry, Merlin won't even know who hit them." She was feeling more confident than ever and some kind of undenounced energy within told her she could run laps around any team. When she got home last night, it took Ivan some time to calm her down trying to figure out where this unrepressed enthusiasm was coming from. Micha'el followed behind silently before spotting Aoi waving them over to join her team in the lower row.

As soon as they made themselves confrontable a ringing noise erupted around them and golden winter light showered the arena. It condensed causing everyone to lean forward in anticipation as the light turned into an orange and gold bulb. The bulb blossomed brilliantly unfolding its ethereal petals creating a glowing barrier above to protect the students from the harsh elements. The warm glow emitting from the shield was a short spectacle before the clacking of heels drew their attention. Maverly Asche entered out of nowhere and addressed the crowd by brief explaining the barriers benefits before insisting on a team volunteering. It didn't take long of course as Lottie esthetically nominated them to go first. Maverly wasn't surprised by their eagerness and informed them that she'd be grading their performance and revealing results in the morning. Now, who dared to challenge the mighty Team Sun? Like Maverly, Tsuna was expecting Aoi's team to jump at the opportunity when suddenly the Onsen twins and their new teammate made an obnoxious entrance. They boosted how they'd rise to the challenge while JayBird rocked back and forth in place nervously. He was always punctual, but decided to listen to the twins when they told him that being early or late wouldn't effect their grades in the slightest. He could see Team Sun groaning irritably at the twins as they made their attentions clear in unison. Tsuna wasn't surprised by their arrogance, but defiantly could sense the uncertainty coming from JayBird behind them. Luckily, Maverly wasn't the type of tutor to let their audacity slide causing Tsuna to smirk gratefully sense she had been waiting for the twins to receive a lecture.

Slapping her riding crop down into her open palm the morning sun glimmered above her giving her a spotlight. She told them that she would tolerate their disrespect and if they arrive late again she will send them to their headmistress. Kaito tried to conjure an excuse which she quickly dismissed assuring him to shape up for JayBird's sake. JayBird wanted to step in and defend the two with some kind of lie, but couldn't as Maverly's warning overshadowed their team. JayBird buried his hands in his pockets and walked down with the twins as they took their place on the arena floor opposite of Team Sun. Tsuna pulled out her hammer letting the pole extend on its own as she faced the twins down menacingly. However, she raised her chin at JayBird and addressed him directly, "Show me and the twins what you got JayBird. I don't hold back!" JayBird looked up astonished that someone even acknowledged him before glancing at Kaito and Kotaro. "I won't let you two down...promise." He said gently hoping they could work together. Although, he felt at a disadvantage compared to the other team since they hadn't even practiced together, but he believed in the twins.

Kotaro & Kaito Onsen!

"We, who were born in the Milky Way
Look into these eyes now, the supernova
The truth of the star fortune tellers
It’s the scenario in which we sketch our dreams"

"Happy you! Look this way
Now, Lucky you! Come here
Become enslaved
I’ll kiss you with this illuminance"

Kotaro and Kaito Onsen led the way down the stone staircase and through an open archway into the arena. Maverly gave them a cautious glare from the corner of her eye as she passed them. When she passed JayBird she could have almost smiled, but the moment was fleeting. She joined the rest of the students on a row closest to the edge, taking a comfortable seat and elegantly crossing her legs.

The twins looked at three members of Team Sun before them. It suddenly felt like they were back in Sunspire, only this time they were actually here to fight each other on equal ground. When Tsuna addressed JaiBird, Kaito looked obviously irritated, but Kotaro rolled his eyes. Their teammate reassured them that he would not let them down, and Kotaro simply replied with a chipper "lucky, you!" and a finger click and point. Kaito mimicked the same action as he said "happy you!". This was the twins' signature phrase before they prepared for battle. Some of the students in the crown could be heard murmuring, others chatting in excitement. The two twins smiled at each other as their shoulder gear appeared from blue arcane magic. Kotaro, his golden admiral's epaulette glowing into existence followed by his blue cape that majestically curved around his shoulders to fall behind him. In his hand, a long rifle made from a core of arcane crystal and woven with laced silver metal. At it's tip, a bayonet. Meanwhile, Kaito's silver pauldrons materialised, along with a long white jacket that fell below his hips. At his waist spawned a silver sword, with an arcane crystal core visible within it. The two of them together then conjured silver armguards to assist their defences. "A present!" Kotaro began, gesturing backwards towards their new teammate. Kaito followed and mirrored the same as he added "a precaution." Identicle silver armguards appeared around JayBird's green coat, comfortably tucking in the fabric beneath it. They were just like the twins', covering a little of his wrist also, whilst covering his hands with black gloves.

"What.... was that" Lottie muttered to Tsuna, pulling a grimace. She shook her head as if to get rid of the image as she pulled out her glaive, holding it tightly beside her. Micha'el followed suit by pulling out his Aria, allowing it to float elegantly before him. It thrummed with energy as he began to wave a hand over it. White light pulsed from it, touching himself, Lottie and Tsuna. Lottie felt herself become refreshed, like her body had been filled with fresh air and energy. Micha'el then looked up to see Maverly raise her riding crop. "Prepare yourselves" she announced, as if they hadn't already done so. Micha'el took that as his que to jumped backwards and create some distance between themselves and the other team. Lottie braced herself and widened her stance. "Begin!"

Micha'el lifted his hand up high, instantly summoning a pool of white stars above them. With a clenched fist he brought them all down to pursue the other team. At the same moment, Lottie took off, and with her small frame attempted to rush by Kotaro, who was standing on the left. The twin grinned, opening his blue eyes to bring up his rifle to try and strike her with his bayonet. However, his blade was blocked by a spectral glaive that suddenly appeared to stop him. It shimmered and coalesced into form, hovering in place as Lottie darted behind them to face-off against JayBird at the rear.

"Tsuna, Vanguard!" Micha'el announced, casting his magic in a straight line. This time it was barely visible, but formed a protected zone ahead of Tsuna which led straight to Kaito Onsen, who was preparing with his sword. Any attack or movement made by an enemy in the direct of Tsuna for the next few moments would feel twice as heavy, allowing Tsuna to move quickly, leading the charge like a true vanguard.

JayBird Song

Even though JayBird had never faced Team Sun, let alone seen them in action, he was determined to not be intimidated. At the comment Tsuna gave him, he could sense the twins aggravation but didn't anticipate their performance. When Kotaro replied to him in a chipper mood, JayBird stared dumbfound and intrigued. Synchronizing with Kaito whom shouted his chant, their shoulder armor materialized through arcane magic. Kotaro's was a golden admiral epaulette matched with a silk blue cape that flowed around him elegantly. A rifle with a bayonet tip at the end, an arcane crystal in the core, and laced silver metal detailing popped into his hand. Kaito's was silver pauldrons paired with a white naval coat that fell below his hips. A silver sword with a similar arcane crystal to his brothers appeared at his waist. JayBird wasn't left out of the change as identical silver armguards were placed on his hands hugging his green coat comfortably. "For me?" JayBird was surprised to have received such a beautiful gift, or a "precaution" as Kaito called it.

Tsuna had to practically slap herself awake after that overly dramatic display. Luckily, Lottie spoke for her as their team shook off the theatrics and summoned their weapons. Lottie brandished her glaive as Micha'el opened his aria fluttering through the pages. It thrummed and white light pulsated from it proving them with refreshing energy. Tsuna gripped her hammer tightly, while Lottie took a stance, and Micha'el jumped back some feet to distance himself. Glancing at Maverly as she waited for the teams to prepare themselves, she raised in riding crop and brought it down announcing the start of the match!

Micha'el conjured a volley of white stars that rained down on the opposing team which JayBird disrupted by a small lightning storm overhead. Lottie launched an attack at Kotaro who was ready to strike her with his bayonet only to be blocked by another glaive. The glaive shimmered and turned to foam fusing with rifle stopping Kotaro temporarily as she went for JayBird. JayBird canceled his lightning by closing his hand that was open to the sky and switched to his gravity magic. He pointed an open hand at Lottie making the gravity around her heavy eventually pining her to the ground. Micha'el commanded Tsuna to 'vanguard' making a barely visible line to Kaito waiting for her with his blade drawn. She ran towards him and jumped into the air spinning sideways in order to build up momentum to bring her hammer harder down on him. JayBird looked up to see the twins in danger so he released Lottie from her confinement to the ground and made the gravity around the twins and himself zero. Pulling them and himself back from danger as if there were invisible strings. JayBird jumped backwards dragging the twins with him. Before Kaito was pulled back, he tried dismally to strike Tsuna but his movements were strained. Even with the handicap, Tsuna missed Kaito by an inch due to JayBird's quick thinking causing her to slam her hammer into the arena floor. Whatever magic that was preserving the arena no dent or cracks were made in the floor.

Tsuna regained herself and was getting ready to fall back when she saw Lottie still recovering from the gravity force in front of her. After JayBird had set down his team he took this opportunity to strike Lottie while she was getting up. Raising his other hand, lightning projected from her palm ready to hit Lottie dead on. Tsuna changed her hammer into an axe and threw it at Lottie. "Duck!" She yelled to her companion. The axe whistled over Lottie's head making contact with the lightning becoming a lightning rod conductor as the lightning shoot up into the sky. After the attack her metal axe clanged to the ground left white hot and steaming. Tsuna ran past Lottie claiming the weapon without even flinching from the heat and took her stance in front of the twins and JayBird. JayBird was flabbergasted because he had never seen his lightning directed like that before. Tsuna breathed out, "That was a close call. You're fast JayBird, but not fast enough. Nor do I think your resistant to heat like me." She smirked and eyed Kaito wondering if he would try to take another wack at her. JayBird wanted to comment back, but the switching of powers put more strain on him than he realized and would need some time to recover.

Kotaro & Kaito Onsen!

"We, who were born in the Milky Way

The truth of the star fortune tellers
It’s the scenario in which we sketch our dreams"

"Happy you! Look this way
Now, Lucky you! Come here

Lottie was about ready to strike JayBird when suddenly she felt herself slow, become heavy, and then drop to the ground. "What?" she let out exasperated, it felt like she was 10 times heavier than normal and her small frame couldn't force herself up. "Gravity magic!" Micha'el announced from behind, flicking through his pages in an attempt to find something that might help. However, the blond gritted his teeth when he quickly realised he didn't have a good counter. "No fair!" Lottie cried, still trying to push herself up. Kaito on the other hand was preparing to bring up his blade but found himself sluggish. In the moment of confusion Tsuna almost brought her hammer down on him from the side. He was about to flinch when he felt himself pulled backwards in a moment of weightlessness. With a grin, he realised JayBird had saved the twins using his magic. In the seconds after, he began to cast lightning towards Lottie. She had only just got back up to her feet when she heard the call to duck. Knowing to trust her teammate completely, she complied. The axe sailed over her head and blocked the magic, sending the lightning arcing up to the sky that hit Maverly's barrier and crackled beneath the dome before dissipating.

"Yeah!" Lottie cheered as Tsuna rushed by her to gather her weapon, ignoring the intense heat coming from the metal. "I think you're better suited against JayBird" Lottie mentioned, standing beside her teammate. That was when Kaito had charged his rifle and shot a beam of arcane magic towards them, forcing the two to part ways to avoid the attack. "Where do you think you're going?" Kaito said, suddenly appeared at Tsuna's side with his blade raised to strike her down. In the last moment she blocked it with her axe, the two pressing against each other before finally pushing away. After creating a small distance he swung his blade at the air, conjuring magical arcs of energy that sliced through the space between them and flew towards Tsuna.

Meanwhile, Lottie and Kotaro were exchanging blows, one after another as Lotite swung and spun her blade. The twin mirrored her attacks, occasionally dashing back to shoot her weapon with a magical bullet to deflect her swings. Micha'el was watching from afar, noticing that JayBird was doing the same thing. He needed to create an opening for Tsuna, she was certainly going to have the best bet against him. She was the strongest - and heat resistant so her weapon being electrified would pose less of a problem for her than Lottie or Micha'el. But with that gravity magic it would be hard to even get close. His mind drifted to Lottie, her unique ability to tap into Willow Morta's power... her glaive. He shook the thought immediately, they were going to win this battle without that and he knew he had the power to enable that. He has the Aria after all... the divine book of light. It possessed the power of angels... of something even purer than even the Heavens. Then something that Tsuna said gave him an idea. Nor do I think you're resistant to heat like me, the phrase echoed in his mind. Micha'el then summoned up wings of light to give him the single jump he needed to get high above the action. As the wings dissipated Micha'el shouted "IGNIS CAELUM - MAXIMA". At that precise moment Lottie's focus was taken away from Kotaro who was shooting bullet after bullet of arcane magic. Her eyes widened and she knew she had to take evasive action. Using her spectral glaives as a shield behind her, she turned on her heal and jumped as far back as possible. She glanced at Tsuna and was thankful to see that she too was on the defensive, attempting to get out of the way. The last time Micha'el used this spell he burned a group of Vardant to dust back in Sunspire. The twins looked around, unsure of what was happening when all of a sudden the air around them became hot. Unsure of where exactly would be safe, the two of them jumped back to JayBird. Everything was becoming white-hot, almost blinding with divine light as a giant pillar of white light consumed their side of the arena.

Maverly leaned forwards in her seat, she could sense the magnitude of this spell and was unsure of how this was going to end up. She clenched her riding crop tightly, prepared to intervene if she had to. However what she could not see was that the Twins had both winked to JayBird, holding one of his shoulders, pushing him forwards. "Time to brace yourself" Kotaro said, nodding to JayBird's new armguards. In unison Kaito and Kotaro lifted one arm and brought them forwards. Blue magic appeared to swirl from their armguards and into JayBird's as he took a defensive stance before them, and without wasting another minute an arcane barrier appeared around them, protecting them from the intense heat and blinding light.

JayBird Song

Lottie cheered her on and stated that she was better equipped to handle JayBird. "I'll-" Tsuna was disrupted when the beam of arcane energy separated them. In an instant, Kaito ambushed her and their weapons clashed creating sparks. "Glad, I didn't scare you off." Tsuna lightly taunted Kaito. They were evenly matched in terms of strength and eventually broke off from one another to give themselves some distance. Kaito swung his blade in the air forming arcs of arcane energy that flew towards her. She had no choice, but to dodge by rolling and leaping out of the way of the arcs while attempting to get closer to him again. Meanwhile, in the background she could hear Lottie exchanging blows to Kotaro. The glimpses she did get of their battle she could see Lottie blocking his bullets while he mirrored her moments. JayBird remained stagnate since he had become winded from the use of his powers and needed time to recuperate. Micha'el on the other hand was flipping through his Aria to find the prefect spell to counteract the twins. At the corner of her eye, she could see light protruding from Micha'el backside before he ascend out of sight. Luckily, even amongst all the commotion on the ground Micha'el's voice rang loud and clear. The spell, Ignis Caelum - Maxima, was one of devasting portions and the girls needed to evacuate immediately. The last time he had used this spell was in Sunspire where he had disintegrated a Vardant in seconds. Tsuna dodged the last of Kaito's arcs as she turned around a made a beeline to the other side of the arena. Lottie did the same sheilding herself with her glaives as her left Kotaro in mid fight. The temperature of the ground heated up at their opponent's side of the arena was consumed in a pillar of blinding light. The twins flight respond kicked in and they fell back next to JayBird.

JayBird wasn't sure how to combat this situation, but with an assuring wink from the twins they had in covered. Pushing him forward, they warned him to brace himself and he did so by crossing his arms in front of him. The twins extended their arms allowing the arcane magic to flow from them and into JayBird's armguards. An arcane barrier erected around them protecting them from the outside elements for now. As for Tsuna and Lottie they were stand underneath Micha'el whom was still suspended in midair. Tsuna looked to Lottie and said confidently, "It's time to put your plan into motion Lottie. I'm going to force JayBird's hand. He's their defense and needs to be brought down first. I've noticed that he never uses his magic simultaneously, and instead switches back and forth. Using both must put a greater strain on him then his magic already does." She paused for a moment and converted her axe back into a hammer. She held her hammer like a baseball back and smirked at Lottie, "Batter up!" Without hesitation Lottie knew what to do and summoned several glaives. She melded a couple of glaives into misshaped balls and with all the force Tsuna had she hit them like baseballs aiming for JayBird and the twins. Micha'el's magic will heat up the balls turning them into flaming projectiles.

It was impossible to see through the blinding light and when the flaming projecting were finally seen JayBird panicked. A few mashed off their barrier and the force from them was pushing him back. "We need to get off the ground!" He shouted to his teammates and used his gravity magic to propel them upwards hopefully out of the pillar of light. Tsuna saw her chance and stopped launching the projectiles. "Lottie! Stairs!" All she needed was two words and Lottie lined up her glaives upward so Tsuna could climb them. After get high enough, she jumped up and reached out to Micha'el. He saw her coming, grabbed her hand, and threw her higher until she was nearly caressing the barrier around the arena. Stiffing her frame, she flipped her hammer around and heated up her mini cannon. It didn't take long to reach full compacity since it was still a little hot from early. A condensed fire blast shot of the cannon and barreled towards the other team as Tsuna fell back down. JayBird had taken them high enough where the light at the top was more like a haze. However, they didn't have time to rejoice once he saw the beam of fire racing towards them. He had no choice and instinctively raised his other hand to defend with his own bolt of lightning. The two bolts collided causing a cataclysmic explosion. They'd all be swept around in the blast so as Tsuna fell she reached out for Micha'el again to they'd both make it to the ground together and out of the explosion's waves. When they were reunited with Lottie Micha'el conjured a barrier around them similar to the twins and JayBird. As for JayBird, he reacted to the explosion quickly and turned off his gravity making his team plummet to the ground. At the last second, he turned on the gravity again so they wouldn't be flattened and set them all down gently. Afterwards, he fell to knees exasperated as he breathed out to the twins, "Are you two okay?" It was obviously how much he cared for them putting himself at risk many times within this battle. Tsuna looked to her teammates and spoke proudly. "JayBird is down. Now we got to take out the twins. However, their best advantage is speed and we can't give them time to let JayBird recover." She looked up seeing the explosion disbursing and raining down ashes upon them. "Let's go!" This was Team Sun's opportunity to strike, especially if the twins were distracted with JayBird.

Kotaro & Kaito Onsen!

"We, who were born in the Milky Way
Look into these eyes now, the supernova
The truth of the star fortune tellers
It’s the scenario in which we sketch our dreams"

"Happy you! Look this way
Now, Lucky you! Come here
Become enslaved
I’ll kiss you with this illuminance"

As the twins and JayBird appeared higher up in the sky, Tsuna took her chance to enact a plan. "Good thinking" Micha'el sad, now stood directly behind the two girls as he stared on, adjusting his glasses. The sound of cheering could be heard from a few of the teams watching overhead, the distinct sound of Aoi's voice could also be heard cutting through the rest. "Lets do this" Lottie agreed, summoning up some of her spectral glaives. She tapped into her connected with the weapon, just enough to give them material form so that Tsuna could heat them enough that they curved together and made delicately looking but deadly spheres. As Tsuna hit them Micha'el expertly redirected the power of his spell to be absorbed by the balls that flung through the air, superheating them. As they hit the arcane barrier the twins visibly winced, but then smiled cockily. As they manoeuvred up higher to safety Lottie and Tsuna began working together to give her some height. Micha'el, knowing she'd need extra height used his angelic wings of light once more to gain height so that he could catch her hand and swing her to almost the height of the magical barrier that Maverly had put in place. Then, in a moment, Tsuna's red-hot cannon bolts collided with Jaybird's lightning. At that precise moment, Kaito could be heard shouting "no dont!-" but couldn't quite finish as the explosion sent them all soaring. As Micha'el was gracefully falling down, he had already prepared a rescue spell to project white light around Tsuna and majestically pull her away to safety. He then summoned up a white barrier of light around them to protect them from the incoming blast.

The twins plummeted with JayBird, only for him to save them at the last moment with some of his magic. The twins both stood up, collecting themselves as Kotaro noticed JayBird landed on his knees, exhausted, before asking them if they were okay. "Barely!" Kaito shouted, but Kotaro gestured for his brother to stand at ease. "He has deflected one of their most powerful attacks" the blue eyed twin explained. Kaito let out a cheap exhale and silently agreed. "Leave this to us" Kotaro began, stepping past JayBird like a marvellous hero, "we'll protect you, won't we brother?"
"I suppose - our biggest fan must be appreciated" the red-eyed brother then stepped by JayBird, giving him a surprisingly warm smile, one that reminded him of a snake. The appreciation was there... but it was all because of the spotlight it gave the Onsen Twins.

Meanwhile, Team Sun discussed their next steps. "I can sense his body is fatigued, but there's some kind of untapped magical power in him still. We have to be quick and precise" Micha'el explained, staring at JayBird at the other side of the arena. "I'm switching out from support for this" Micha'el added, giving his Aria was flick as it hovered elegantly behind him. Lottie let out a small squeal, "yeah!". She knew this meant Micha'el would finally be going battle mode. "Lead the way" he said. In moments the three of them made there way towards the other team, and Lottie swing her glaive around and into the ground, causing a dozen spectral glaives to come crashing down in a line. It forced the twins to separate suddenly. Kaito dashed to the side, only to come face to face with Tsuna and her hammer once again. As she took a powerful swing the twin smiled and raised his hand to castle an arcane mirror. Her hammer collided with it and rebounded with all the force she gave it, causing her to be knocked off guard. Meanwhile Lottie spun around, regathering her glaives as they hovered around her awaiting command. "I'm sorry to say that we're going to win this!" Lottie taunted. "Oh?" Kotaro began, "as if we would lose to an amateur group such as yourselves. Merlin would never allow such disrespect to his school!" Kotaro leapt forwards, exchanging blows with Lottie time and time again, leaving behind a little arcane magic on each glaive until his was certain he had them all. Then the moment Lottie brought them up around her, he activated the seal and jumped back to create some distance. "What?" Lottie said, noticing she was now suspended in mid air, surrounded by rings of arcane magic and none of her glaives could move. Kotaro then became surrounded by magical runes and equations that aligned themselves around his rifle. He took aim and began speaking equations to himself. Magic calculation Micha'el had warned Lottie about this, it was what made the wizards of Merlin Academy powerful, they could organise the chaotic nature of arcane magic and give it order. The magic began to create a barrel around Kotaro's weapon, locking in on Lottie. "Uh... Micha'el! Anytime now would be great!"

Micha'el had taken this time to use a glimmer of light to vanish from anyone's sight, and now that the twins were distracted he appeared behind JayBird.

As Tsuna recovered, she let out an irritated breath before looking up to see Kaito plunge his blade into the ground, becoming ingulfed in a flash of blue magic. Then the sound of space being torn open could be heard abov her as a giant, arcane blade shot down from above. But with her canine reflexes she was about to dash out of the way quickly and get close to Kaito once again. She swung her hammer once, twice, breaking Kaito's guard before switching into axe form to deliver the final blow. Kaito attempted to shield himself with his bracers but his arcane shield failed and the knock back sent him flying backwards into a nearby wall, effectively out of the game.

"My apologies" Micha'el said to JayBird, thinking he had him by surprise as he gathered white-light in his palms to knock out his oponent. But JayBird managed to find the energy to turn around and protect himself with the bracers he was gifted, showing that he could learn quickly. Micha'el realise as soon as he saw the barrioer and dashed backwards, knowing better than to strike directly. He was about ready to attempt a volley of magic until the barrier failed but heard Lottie's cries for help. He then noted that Tsuna succesfully took out Kaito, giving Micha'el a plan. He and Tsuna exchanged looks, silently telling each other what had to happen next. Without another moment to lose Tsuna set-off to finish off JayBird, whilst Micha'el leapt up and over JayBird to save Lottie. "MICHA'EL!" Lottie demanded, watching him appear overhead like an angel descending from the heavens. His wings of light spread out around him, like tendrils attempting to grasp a hold of the air itself. He came crashing down ebtween them and summoned a giant kite-shield of light to protect himself as Kotaro unleashed a beam of arcane magic, condensed into the width of a bullet. It struck Micha'el with such force than he began to drag backwards across the ground against the unrelenting barrage of magic. When it finally ended his shield shattered and wings of light vanished. Clearly, Micha'el was becoming tired from absorbing such a powerful blow. He flung his arm abck and nullified the magic holding Lottie prisoner, but as he did so Kotaro closed the gap between them and swung a kick that threw Micha'el to the side.

JayBird Song

JayBird smiled at the twins chivalry and didn't take offense to the sly commentary knowing that's just who they were. He remained behind allowing them to avenge him honorable while he attempted to regain some strength. As for Team Sun, their plan to advance was set and Micha'el insisted on taking the helm for the climax. He strutted forward with his Aria drifting majestically behind him. Tsuna rested her hammer on her shoulders following Micha'el and Lottie diligently. "Fine by me, Capitan." She said the last in a French accent because it looked like their team was about to lead a revolution. Once they faced the twins, Lottie shot down several spectral glaives in a line to separate the twins like they had done to them earlier. Kaito decided it was time for a rematch and took Tsuna head on as before, but this time he got the jump on her. She swung her hammer down only for him to conjure an arcane mirror that deflected her attack. Tsuna almost lost balance, but to keep herself upright she flipped backwards and steadied her stance. Similar to Kotaro's and Lottie's standoff last round, she could hear them exchanging blows and aggressive banter. Lottie's confidence failed her though as Kotaro ensnared her in an arcane seal made of her own glaives. She was suspended in midair as Kotaro charged up his rifle with Magic Calculation. Micha'el had explained to them that the powerful nature of Merlin Academy's wizards were chaotic, and to give arcane magic form Magic Calculation was required.

Tsuna would have rushed to her rescue in the blink of an eye if Kaito ever gave her the chance to do so. She growled in frustration trying to get one step ahead of him, but he was determined to defeat her. Plunging his sword into the ground, blue arcane light swallowed the blade. Space could be heard tearing asunder above her head and when she looked up a gigantic arcane blade threaded to skewer her. Reflexively, she bounded out of the way and swung at Kaito effortlessly. Each time he was knocked back until she converted her hammer into an axe and released the final blow. His arcane barrier that he had projected failed and he was catapulted backwards into a wall removing him from the game. She didn't have time to celebrate though as she turned to aid her teammates.

Lottie knew the trouble she was in and began begging Micha'el for help, but at the moment he was preoccupied with JayBird. When JayBird realized that Micha'el was behind him with a ball of gathered light ready to knock him unconscious. Luckily, residue of the twins magic resided in his armguards and he was able to resurrect a barrier to protect himself. Micha'el jumped back and was about to rain a volley of magic onto him to disrupt the barrier when Lottie's cries became more stressful. With one glance, Tsuna complied and ran towards JayBird while Micha'el soared over the exhausted boy like an angel coming to defend a mortal. He crashed down in between Lottie and Kotaro creating a kite like shield of light. The impressive shield was worn down by Kotaro's condensed bullets pushing Micha'el backwards in the processes. Before the shield shattered, he was able to release Lottie from her imprisonment but suffered a nasty beating from Kotaro. After he was thrown aside, Lottie was left wide open for another attack.

Tsuna acted fast within the meantime and began to quickly wearing down JayBird's barrier. After it disappeared, leaving JayBird vulnerable, Tsuna prepared to knock him out. However, JayBird wouldn't quit without one last attack and tried to electrocute her knowing that if she didn't want to get fried she'd have to release her weapon...right? He was dead wrong, because Tsuna blatantly held out her weapon allowing the bolt to resonate through it. To her, all she felt was a static shock due to JayBird becoming so feeble. He should have predicted that she would read his moments like an open book and decided to take the risk of electrocution. He smiled and complemented, "You're strong, maybe someday I will be too." His eyes closed and he fell to the ground unconscious. "You are strong, JayBird. And I have to thank you for giving this baby the extra juice it needed." Pivoting, she got down on one knee and aimed her cannon at Kotaro just as he had bested Micha'el. Before he could assail Lottie, Tsuna whistled to have his acknowledgment as she fired the cannon. A small, but powerful beam whizzed through the air and hit Kotaro's rifle out of his hand. The rebound from the hit effectively knocked Kotaro to the ground as his rifle spun off in the distance. The now freed Lottie waited no time and used her glaives to pin him down. He struggled of course, but it was evident that Team Sun had won.

The crowd cheered so loudly that Maverly's announcement of their victory was almost overshadowed. Tsuna ran over to her teammates and lent a hand to Micha'el pulling him up from the ground. "We did it!" She shouted energetically as she hugged Lottie tightly bounding up and down with her. Whatever energy was swirling around within her came out at that moment as she raised her face to the sky and howled deeply like a natural wolf. Her howl silenced the crowd momentarily as her voice echoed through the arena. When she stopped she noticed everyone was staring at her and even she was surprised by herself. However, the crowd seemed to accept it quickly as one of Team Sun's quirks and continued to cheer. She looked to her teammates smiling breathlessly wondering what they thought or felt in this moment of celebration.

"There's no room for wilting flowers here."

A never-ending melody, a song that's just begun.
The aching filled my heart inside, reminding me that I'm still alive.
So why, repeating every word my voice would rise like the sun. I came undone.
Although your hand was still in mine, I knew I couldn't stop time...

So what's the problem, what's keeping me. From moving forward, it's hard to see.
I should be free now... I should be fine. But the life I fought for still isn't mine.

Maverly had been watching the duel take place with some bated breath, although to anyone watching it would be difficult to tell. She kept a strictly unbothered expression, and her composure was proper and straight. She was taking in every detail of the match. Micha'el magic particularly impressed her, she made a mental note to look into the source of his skills later. However the events of the match were quickly concluding, with the Onsen Twins and JayBird only momentarily having the upper hand.

"Team Sun wins!" Maverly stood, not joining the celebrations as she made her way down to stand among them within the arena. As she descended the steps, she could hear Lottie's commotion as she high-fived Tsuna, followed by Tsuna's howl which momentarily silenced the crowd. Maverly waited patiently, allowing them a few moments to settle before speaking. Clearing her throat, she alerted the class to her presence. "Very good" Maverly began, her hands firmly clasped behind her back. "However" she went on, turning to face Team Sun, "your form is sloppy, Miss Tamiya-Satoru. Do not allow excitement and comfort for a spar to allow your guard to be down." Lottie visibly straightened and nodded carefully to her new tutor. A smug sound could be heard coming from Kaito. "Mr Onsen" she turned, "the both of you - whilst your ability to control the arcane arts is sophisticated for your age, it is fuelled by ego." There was a silence from the twins as they crossed their arms together. Maverly then looked over them towards JayBird. "Mr Song, you have much potential. Practise using your abilities together, and let the magic flower freely as opposed to uncapping a bottle one at a time. Miss Miki, you have great strength and a good eye for combination attacks. Your leadership shows through in this team. However - it does not do well to sacrifice yourself at a guess you will succeed. And Mr Maeus" Maverly paused for a moment, his name causing her focus to fault without noticing. "I feel as though you are dividing your attention. To protect your team, or make an assertive attack. You cannot spread yourself thinly. Trust your teammates to work with you, or to at least know their own limits." With her initial feedback given, she turned on her heal and gestured for the two teams to return to their seats above.

"Who would intend to show their skills next?" she asked, looking up to the crowd of students. It was Sagiso who raised his hand. "Mr Amber" Maverly raised her head to acknowledge him, "your team can please join me down here"
"Well, actually" her said, scratching his head with an awkward smile. "We are quite curious to know.... your fighting technique." Aoi, who was sat quietly beside him, nodded slowly in agreement, eyes sheepishly wide. Kyuroyori appeared indifferent, but Camerlia clicked pressed a finger against her lip and cocked a brow, obviously interested too. There was a few audible gasps from the other classmates as Maverly contemplated the question. "Hm" she said, blinking slowly as she looked over the teams in front of her. "I suppose a demonstration would not be entirely unnecessary. Although I do not intend on directly battling students during my first class." She continued to look around when she noticed someone standing in an archway at the back of the seating. "Professor Buron" she announced, raising her chin towards him. "How kind of you to spectate my class. No papers to mark I presume? I'm sure that you wouldn't mind entertaining Sagiso's request? Come, join me down here at once." Maverly wasted no time in requesting his assistance. She wouldn't take any excuses and even made her way back in the Arena to take her spot. "Students, I will have no deafening cheering during this or ugly gawking. Take notes and feel free to peer review after I have finished demonstrating Professor Buron's weaknesses."

Time for you to learn, it's my turn.
I won't be held down any longer.
I've waited all my life and finally it's here.

Rise and take flight, darling - let's soar high.
For the first time in forever I'm alive, don't you forget that.
Cruel and wicked life, how it hurts me deep inside.
Cold and vicious life, how I wish to make it right.

Ivan Baron

Marverly clasped her hands together behind her back as she turned to Team Sun to voice her criticisms of their performance. For Lottie, her excitement stole her focus in battle causing her to her captured. For Tsuna, her strength and strategizing were impressive, but her willingness to put her life at risk unorthodox at best. For Micha'el, she paused for a second probably to analyze his faults if he had any, was that his attention was divided by Tsuna and Lottie. He wants so badly to protect everyone, but in the end depletes his own abilities for doing so. As for the other team, JayBird's potential is exponential if he just learns to use both magics simultaneously. The Twins can successfully control the arcane arts, but their egos definitely drown out their growth. Tsuna would take Maverly advice into consideration knowing that risk-taking was a major issue she had to work on. JayBird knew she would mention his struggle with dueling magics and vowed to work even harder. Marverly gestured for them to return to the stands and they did so quietly as the half elf asked whom would like to prove themselves next.

Sagiso, the shy boy on Aoi's team, surprisingly raised his hand to participate in the next round. Maverly eagerly asked them to step down, but Sagiso awkwardly denied the offer. Instead, he was interested in seeing her techniques to which the crowd of students responded in a verity of ways. Some leaned forward in anticipations, some remained indifferent, and other were perplexed by such an adventitious request. After some consideration Maverly permitted it, but refused to fight a student so instead she sought out a teacher. Ivan coincidentally was standing in the back archway surveying the game ready to have a cigarette. He had just lit one when his name was called from down below. Her cursed to himself and spat out the cigarette stomping it out on the ground so he didn't set a bad example for the students whom turned to look at him. Nervously, he made his way down to her knowing that she wouldn't accept any excuse he gave her. She stiffly forbade the students from cheering or gawking which made Ivan roll his eyes. "Loosen up, Maverly. Let the kids be kids. Also you're going to regret that weakness remark." He replied calmly as he took to his side of the arena.

Before Marverly announced the start of the battle, Ivan pulled out a Chinese long stem pipe given to him by Solomon himself. The pipe stem was made of green jade with dragons etched in on either side. The part where you insert the leaves of tobacco into was made of ivory. He pulled out a small black velvet bag and took out a pinch of purplish brown leaves stuffing the pipe ready to smoke. Tsuna raised a brow wondering if he was serious about this fight because that couldn't possibly be a weapon. She knew he liked to smoke and did it frequently, but all he ever had was a regular pack of cigarettes nothing special about that. He took his stance and lit his pipe after Maverly signaled to start. Inhaling deeply, he breathed out a massively cloud of greyish purple smoke that engulfed the entire battlefield. Maverly was caught in the middle of the ironically sweet smelling cloud since she had been half way towards him from the start. From within the cloud, several bullets rang out and zoomed around Marverly. The bullets had a neon greenish glow to them and anything that hit would corrode into a gooey substance. These were acidic bullets that were enhanced from the smoke around them. A shadow Ivan could be seen through the clouds running and shooting at her. Suddenly, another shadow ran by, than other, and other until there were multiple shadows suppressing bullets from every direction around Marverly. Tsuna was flabbergasted at Ivan's technique because she never pegged him as the fighting type since he always refused her. Now she knew why, his specialties were illusions and stealth and from the looks of it he seems like a deadly opponent to duel with. .

"There's no room for wilting flowers here."

It starts with the unexpected loss of something dear...
The warmth that comforted and cradled just disappears.
And in its place there's nothing - just an endless empty hole.
The path to isolation is littered with the dreams that lay destroyed.

So what's the problem, what's keeping me. From moving forward, it's hard to see.
I should be free now... I should be fine. But the life I fought for still isn't mine.

Maverly turned around to face her opponent as he joined her on the arena floor. She held herself up straight, whipping her riding crop down to one side as he responded to her comments. "Hm" she simply raised her chin slightly as she inspected him from afar. She hadn't seen him fight before, let alone heard anything about this man before meeting him yesterday. All she has noticed so far, from her people watching, is that he enjoys a cigarette or two between classes. And whilst he could make a good drink, she wasn't convinced that was a particularly positive quality. What could this man possibly have on me? she thought to herself, mulling over a few things in her mind. He had to have some kind of training, some kind of expertise that would cause Solomon to believe in him. Ivan then pulled out an expensive looking pipe, which caused her to scowl in disbelief. "Begin" Maverly announced, not moving as she waited for Ivan to make the first move. But he didn't move, instead her blew out his freshly burnt smoke. It spread out into a huge sweet smelling cloud that Maverly allowed to engulf her. Whilst surprised, she didn't let her confusion show. She stood still, looking around for some kind of movement but his technique was working. She could barely see anything! Then she heard the sound of a trigger, a gun she thought and quickly acted. She ducked and dived, rolling to the side to avoid some bullets that flew past her. From the pinkish haze she had seen green streaks pass her. She noted the bullets glowed but as of the moment... she did not notice their purpose. She had no time to investigate however as she finally began to see movement in the clouds of pink smoke. Shadows, bullets, more shadows and more bullets. She twisted and turned, weaved and dived. She even began to deflect the occasional bullet using her riding crop as a tool to focus her magic. As each bullet ricocheted the distinct sunset orange glow of her magic could be seen rippling around her extended hand. However, whilst she was skilled, she allowed a single bullet to graze her shoulder. And in that moment she felt its sting sear through her skin, and then the burn of acid.

Maverly quickly straightened her posture and extended her arm out ahead of her, as if wielding her riding crop like a rapier. The air around her pulsed orange for a brief moment as the air around her cleared and formed a bubble. The air spun around her like a shield, creating a bubble of clean air around her that blocked any further bullets shot towards her. With her other arm neatly placed behind her back, she continued to hold this stance and keep focus, attempting to create a plan. Right foot forwards she told herself. She waited for Ivan to realise his bullets wouldn't get through before she released the spell. She then used the dispersing air to propel herself high up above them, escaping the heavy cloud of smoke and ash to get a bird's eye view. Spinning majestically in the air she summoned up a ring of magical missiles that glowed like the sun's morning rays. She then whipped her crop down and all at once the missiles rained down on the cloud that Ivan was hiding within. Then, once she landed, she extended her crop out again, into the cloud. Behind her specks of orange light grew and summoned up magical bird after bird. Each one glowing like sunset. Although mostly useless in battle, these magical avian summons flew through the cloud and forced it to finally disperse, clearing the air around them. As Maverly's birds whistled by and eventually cleared too, both tutors were found to be staring at each other. "Hm" she made a sound as if to be impressed with herself.

Then, without a moment to lose, she dashed forwards to clash with Ivan. She struck once, twice, three times in different directions with her riding crop in an attempt to hit him. Each attack charged with a little piece of her magic to add weight to her otherwise lightweight and pointless weapon. Whilst he deflected this, she performed a jumped and twisted in the air to avoid his sideways sweep. Her long garmet fanning around her as she did so in a flash of red towards the students. She glanced at him before landing, placing the pummel of her crop to the ground before dashing backwards with a grin. There was a glow from where she had left him, and on the ground was a quickly growing, budding flower of sunset light. It elegantly spiralled as it grew, and even though its edges may have touched Ivan for a moment, it did him no harm. It was ethereal, almost see-through. However after just a few seconds it bloomed once it reached knee height. The golden petals opened and within there was a bright light that whistled with pressure... begging for release. A bomb.

It exploded in a boom of sunset magic. Arcane in nature, beautiful as an art form, but just as powerful. It seemed Maverly really had her own style of magic, one that at first glance seemed quite harmless. "Take one more breath from that pipe, I dare you" she called from afar, holding out her crop again, ready to continue fighting. Neither of them were tired, they were pro's. And if she had to admit it... she enjoyed this sparring very much. However, even now she was thinking of how this could benefit the students. She imagined her close-quarters combat suprised the students, showing that just because you may not have a real weapon, or any weapon at all, you must still find a way to fight up close as well as from afar.

Time for you to learn, it's my turn.
I won't be held down any longer.
I've waited all my life and finally it's here.

Rise and take flight, darling - let's soar high.

Ivan Baron

Holding the riding crop like a rapier before her, the air around her pulsated orange and a bubble of clean air formed around her. The bullets that Ivan was suppressing couldn't penetrate her shield so he paused momentarily to see what she would do. Using a dispersing air from the released spell, she catapulted high upwards spinning delicately above. Summoning an orange ring around her missiles emerging appearing like rays of the sun. Striking her riding crop down, the missiles rained down into his cloud of smoke vanquishing all illusions of himself expect for one. He kept around maneuvering through the fire until he was close enough to one of the outer pillars which he hid behind leaving his clone in the smoke. Maverly descended and once on the ground held out the riding crop again towards the smoke. Orange speaks of light behind her transformed into golden aviaries that sored and swooped through the smoke clearing it away. After the birds had swept away all the smoke, his clone was left there staring Maverly down. Anyway face that Ivan made was reflected on the clone and watching from afar he was quiet enamored by her quick reflexes.

She decided to assail him into close range combat and stuck several times only for his clone to dodge and pretend to counter but not follow all the way through. If she did manger to successful hit it with her riding crop then it would dissipate immediately. Behind the pillar he created a small smoke mirror that basically let him see the clone's point of view so he could control its moments without giving his location away. The clone attempted to sideswipe Marverly own for her to acrobatically leap out of the way dazzling the crowd with a flash of red from the interior of her cape. While flipping backwards, the pummel of her crop touched the ground before his clone stopping it in its tracks. The spot glowed and transformed into an ethereal golden flower that measured to about knee height. It's petals blossomed barely touching the clone's shin making the smoke of the clone ripple slightly. The overbearing light hid the clone's shaking existence until the bomb exploded. Maverly hadn't released it wasn't Ivan yet until the sunset magic disappeared leaving the barely visible clone until it vanished all together. In the time her assault took, Ivan had already prepped his pipe with black leaves. Maverly dared him to blow more smoke, and he stepped out from behind the pillar smirking. "Your wish is my command."

Giving her no time to react, the arena was consumed in thick black smoke that smelled awful and felt suffocating. This smoke was the deadest weapon he had because its illusion could only be seen by the victim. It was meant to taunt and confuse them eventually breaking down their mind. One man he used this technique on thought he was covered in bugs and scratched until he bleed, but there was never anything there. This power was particularly cruel and his hope was that Maverly wouldn't see her brother. Although this trick was a villainess tactic, it could be used to build up one's endurance mentally. This was also a very really scenario that the students could encounter in battles with enemies and they needed to learn that the enemy won't show mercy. However, even though this was a battle among peers, he still wanted to test Maverly. If the illusion became to overwhelming and she begins to panic he'll clear the smoke away and surrender apologetically. Walking in and out of the smoke, he called out her name several time letting it echo all around her. Once she gets confused, what ever she sees from this point on is what ever her brain conjures up. All he does is evoke the illusions by asking questions or simply fabricating the imagery that the person sees.

Maverly pulled herself back, gracefully flipping once and using her free hand to propel her. Once she came to a skidding stop she watched as the light of her magic faded and the smoke of the explosion cleared. There was an audible sound of a few little gasps from behind her, but she paid them no attention. Ahead of her she saw Ivan still standing, unscathed. "what?" asked herself, her eyebrows narrowing suddenly with annoyance when she watched him fade away. An illusion she thought. As she then provoked him to use more smoke, she expected him to come at her from out of no where. However, he instead decided to stroll out from behind a pillar. She gave a cheap exhale, how dare he goad her like this. She tightened her fist around her crop, ready to assail him with magic but she had no time to react before black smoke consumed the area. The thick smog spread from his pipe as quickly as it did before. This time it was thick and suffocating. Maverly brought up her sleeved arm to cover her mouth and nose in an attempt to make breathing easier. With other hand she whipped out her riding crop to summon another bubble of clean are around her. It swept some of the smog away from around her, but she felt it battling against the smoke. At least now she could breath, but she still couldn't see a thing!

Maverly took a few careful steps forwards, holding her conjuration up as she tried to peer through the smoke around her, but all she could see was black. "More illusions, Professor?" she questioned, not showing any fear or confusion as she turned around slowly, attempting to force light from her sphere but it couldn't penetrate more than a few inches. "You should have done a background check - illusions are one of my particular inter-" Maverly paused. She thought she saw... no, of course she didn't. Focus, Maverly she reassured herself, standing firm and strutting forwards. As she did so she saw a figure come into view. It was a statue, one that she instantly recognised as her father. He stood proud, but one arm was extending down to her. She reached for it, attempting to take it. But when she did she flinched and pulled back. Thorns? she saw the sharp edges on Calder's stony fingers. She then looked around as more statues appeared one after the other. They were townspeople of Shard. They were pointing at her, she heard laughter, she heard chitter and chatter. Rumours and lies. Some of them talking of her great feats, of her dancing and singing. Others gossiped to one another, mentioning how she was dropped as the heir to the Asche Agricultural Establishment. "Mind tricks..." she muttered, walking passed them as she became visible agitated. On a whim, she condensed the air bubble she created and let it explode outwards, breaking all the statues around her into pieces. She noticed that now the smoke wasn't suffocating, but the darkness didn't recede. Something was wrong.

"SAVE ME MAVERLY" a voice cried out, whipping by her at lightning speed. She twisted as if she had been hit in the face by something invisible. "YOU MUST LIVE UP TO THE STATUS OF YOUR BROTHER"
"THERE'S NO ROOM FOR WILTING FLOWERS HERE"
"ITS MY TURN"
"FIND A CURE"
"No!" Maverly shouted, swinging outwards with her riding crop as a torrent of sunset missiles went flying out into the nothingness. Their light quickly fading into nothingness before the sound of explosions could be heard. "You are illusions! Falsehoods and fears! I am not afraid. Of anything" But the moment she said it, some darkness cleared and a bed appeared before her. It was barely lit, with a window of sunset light behind it. A young man lay within it. Maverly took a breath, almost breaking a sweat as she gritted her teeth and became enraged. With a cry she held her riding crop like a sword, sunset light grew behind her and exploded into life as a gigantic, sunset lit sword swung down and destroyed the bed before her. "Foul deceit!" Maverly roared as her summoned companion knelt beside her. A gleaming knight of armour, a few feet taller than her, filled with sunset light and wielding a giant sword. Maverly stood tall and proud, but with fury in her eyes. "Cheap tricks will get you nowhere, scoundrel!" she warned, planting her riding crop down into the ground as a flurry of sunset birds spiralled out from a pool of light beneath her, clearing the smog. She then turned around to face Ivan and stare him dead in the eyes. "Teach Ivan a lesson." she said coldly, commanding her giant suit of sunset armour to pursue him as it began to stride towards him and turn into a run, leading with a sweeping attack with it's sword. Maverly followed up with a twirl here and there, extending her crop out several times to launch a sunset seed in Ivan's tracks. Each one landing and quickly growing into the same exploding buds of orange-peach light from before, exploding one after the other to make his terrain difficult whilst battling with the suit of armour. When these didn't work enough, she dashed in to fight him alongside her summon. The armour swung, and she would dash in to deliver a small blow with her riding crop. She'd duck and weave until Ivan unexpectedly dodged a strong attack from her suit of armour, and in the same move managed to strike her down that caused her to lose footing and tumble across the ground. As she rolled to a stop against a pillar she pushed her torso up, and with an evil scowl she held her crop like a dagger and planted it into the ground. Runes of sunset light appear on the ground around her, turning slowly and growing larger. At the same moment, her summon grow in size, until it was now twice the size of Ivan. Now... she was directly controlling it, focusing her power to fuel it.

(Feel free to take some control of the armour! It's just like Weiss'!)

Ivan Baron

Maverly once again conjured a bubble of fresh air around her so she could proceed through the suffocating smoke. It's pure glow couldn't penetrate the darkness around her as she would soon realize. She attempted to dismiss him stating how illusions were her specialty, but so far most of his tricks had stumped her. The illusions began to poison her mind as he followed her silently watching and considering her movements carefully. He could only make assumptions as to what she saw as she reached out for someone or someone before receding cautiously. "Who's there? What do you see?" He asked not disrupting her, but prompting her to continue. Peering around, it looked as if she was surrounded because she suddenly released her bubble and waves of it rippled through the smoke. The air around her was purified, but the enviable darkness still threatened to swallow her. Her movements became spontaneous as if she saw or heard something, although it was hard to distinguish between the two. She shouted in dismay and held out her riding crop and released a torrent of sunset missiles that whizzed off into the black cloud. Their explosions echoed in the distance as she began to shake off the illusion. Ivan dumped out the black leaves in his pipe and loaded in some blue ones to counter her once she breaks his curse.

She was docile for a second when she saw something else, but quickly became furious and agitated summoned a glimmer tall knight behind her. It's golden sword cut through whatever illusion had been pledging her and to stop any further deceit she slammed her riding crop to the ground. Out of the golden circle a flock of aviaries arose and cleared out the smog like before leaving Ivan exposed. Maverly glared at him malevolently and commanded her knight to attack him immediately. "I'm in trouble now." Ivan muttered watching the knight stride then break into a run towards him. Swinging its massive sword, Ivan barely dodged and took off like a dog with its tail in between its legs. He attempted to shoot blindly behind him, but the landmine of explosive sunset flowers that Maverly had placed made this task difficult. After the volley of landmines, she joined the chase herself and fought along side her knight exchanging blow after blow. Some strikes from her riding crop got him and he tinged in pain but didn't stop dodging as he kept moving backwards. At one point, the knight swiped sideways focusing Ivan to duck. He cleverly imitated the knights motion as he miraculously knocked Maverly off her feet and pushed her out towards the pillars. Dealing with the knight alone was a bit easier than two assaults, but she wasn't out of the ring just yet. Fueled by ferocity, she shoved her riding crop into the ground forming glowing runes that trailed all the way to her knight increasing its side and strength. "Mother fu- really!? Maverly you have to take everything so personally?" As he questioned her, the knight swung down its sword again only for him to roll out of the way. The ground trembled with its might causing Ivan to maneuver more strategically. Getting his footing back, he inhaled and blew on his pipe disbursing barely visible blue smoke which only effected the environment around them. Everything became wobbly and distorted making harder for Maverly to track Ivan. He shoot at the pillar above her melting the exterior somewhat, but to her it probably looked like it was crumpling leaving her distracted. As for the knight, Ivan had to take it out quick as he got close to it but it still was able to fend him off. Swing after swing, Ivan dodged until the sword came down near him. He took this opportunity to scale the weapon and jump up to the knight's face. Aiming dead center, he got ready to fire when a missile hit him right in the backside. He became winded as he fell back hitting the ground hard. He laid there looking at the knight above him raising its sword. He was all out of tricks and even if he did somehow manage to roll out of the way he had nothing else to counteract Maverly. He closed his eyes and waited for her to deliver the final blow.
