A few weeks had passed since that fateful night at the 7-11 with the very suspicious slurpee machine. To his delight, the slurpee was strange, but did not kill Landry and the occasional texts between him and the just as curious store attendant kept him entertained. While he wasn't a super often texter, not wishing to bug some one too much most days and just generally being an introvert. A meme or two was sent here and there between his own work shifts, and if he happened to be awake when Todd was as well late at night, he did try to swing by and maybe drop off a nice set of leftovers from whatever he cooked up last night.

It was strange... Having a friend in the city after all this time. The last attempt to make friends ended in... Well, just too much irritation and sadness, so this was strange and pleasant. The city really did seemed to have changed while he was away, or perhaps he finally had some internal personality growth in the last 4 or so years.

Either way, with the summer dying down finally and autumn in full swing, the restaurant finally seemed to slow with its reservations that the offer for dinner could be extended.

It was a simple little text sent off one random little evening.

Would you like to have dinner soon at the Restaurant? I'm free the rest of the week..

Any other context was left out. So very Landry of him. But he did seem a little hopeful for a yes.Todd did seem like the guy who would bend over backwards for free stuff, and he was more than willing to give it to him.

Perfect, I'll see you then. Come by around 3PM.

Landry had maybe smiled a little too wide at the enthusiastic yes. It would be curious to see what Todd would be like off-shift, out of his normal environment behind the strange TV and the rolls of lotto tickets. Would he be as funny? Or suddenly super awkward and shy? Only time would tell!

Prep for the dinner came easy. Their autumn specials were quick to prepare, but the dessert... He had always struggled with making sweets... And the apples that were delivered were absolutely disgusting. Sour, lingering in his mouth all the way up til the moment that Todd arrived. Hopefully the squished up expression on his face was gone by the time his guest finally arrived.

Just in case those gatekeeping assholes in the lobby would throw a fit over some stranger dressed 'less than prim' heading towards the elevator, Landry made sure to meet Todd at the door. And... He was glad he did. While he wasn't expecting head to toe black tie attire, this was a little more casual than he liked.

It suited Todd incredibly well, and made Landry simply smile at him when they met.

"A very suiting shirt, I have to say. Don't worry, you'll be well fed. Perhaps so much so, I'll have to roll you out." A little head bow was made at his surprisingly awake guest, then he beckoned for him to follow.

"Strange seeing you in the daylight. I was beginning to think you didn't exist before 9PM."

Landry found himself highly amused at how natural Todd seemed in this place. Look wise, outfit wise, he stood out like a sore thumb among all the business suits and smart dresses. But there was something about the way he carried himself that almost screamed 'old money'. As if he lived like this his whole life.

Fascinating, and strange. Like that one dude from Big Hero Six. A brief thought flitted across Landry's mind, just how would Todd change if this became his world? He hoped nothing would change at all, just maybe working a few less hours and got a bit more sleep.

"Not at all. I started out with the proverbial 'silver spoon in my mouth'. Went to culinary school overseas, studied in Prague and Paris for a bit, then came back here to work for bit. I knew a guy who knew a guy, who got me a job in the kitchen. Give it half a week, pissed off the sous chef because I saw him screwing the owner's wife, and then got promoted. Nepotism at it's best." He didn't seem ashamed by it at all either. Why should he be? He paid his taxes, did his charity work, and had the dead parents to back it. No shame in enjoying what life left behind for him.

The elevator went up faster than expected, and a few bings later, they were at the sparkling entrance of this bougie place.

"This way, good sir." In an unnecessary flair, he gave a half bow, well trained from the other places he worked, arm outstretched as if to guide Todd a little more forward. "Oh, forgot to ask, do you drink any? We've wine pairings, but if you're more a whiskey type, or water type, we've all sorts."
