Willow had excitedly jumped at the change when Dawn her classmate mentioned the Hawkin's Cemetery as the place to do their group investigation project. Though Dawn seemed intent on getting permission to go down there.

Willow grinned she'd already been there as Halley studied the guards routes, knew about when they changed shifts and she managed to convince Dawn they were good, there wasn't any need to worry about permissions when she had everything arranged.

The girl waited for her partner to meet her outside of the entrance just a bit away. Willow made sure Dawn knew where to meet her so they could enter together. Willow also made sure to carry her normal investigation gear, which might not be quite what the classroom required but it made things more interesting and exciting.

She hummed while she was waiting for the other girl.

Quote:
The Hawkins Cemetery (10) - Between constant destruction and expansions, Destiny City is always changing–and yet, forgotten by time, something of an old world remains. An old, unfinished, eyesore of a building finally gave way and crumbled, and while the city was clearing debris, they found something strange–an old dirt path that led downwards. An exploration of the area led to an underground cavern, but the greater mystery is that there is an unmarked cemetery underneath Destiny City. An old metal gate marks this as the Hawkins Cemetery, and Destiny City is alive with questions. Articles have popped up online and in the papers, podcasts are aplenty, and even the local news is eagerly asking questions.

The Hawkins Cemetery is not exactly open to the public, but it really isn’t too hard to sneak in. The City is quick to respond to disturbances, but as long as you aren’t making mischief, you’re mostly free to explore. There are no lights leading into the cemetery, or in the cemetery itself, but once you arrive it is impossible to miss the strange glow illuminating the area. Bioluminescent mushrooms grow all around, casting a soft white–and sometimes grey–glow about the room. It’s enough to make your way around, but if you want to see, you should come with your own lighting. There are rows of tombstones and statues, and even a few strange trees. You aren’t alone down here; if you keep to yourself, you’ll find that while this might be a cemetery, there’s still life all around you.

Honestly when she had heard about the Hawkins Cemetery Dawn in one of her classes she just let it pass in one ear and out the other. She really was rather busy. Too busy to mess around with ghost stories and other things that went bump in the night but as the day passed and she heard more and more about it the young woman felt more and more curious. It also didn’t hurt that it seemed that some of the more troublesome classmates of hers were absolute pests. They were boasting about scaring the ever living daylights out of people or just making themselves nuisances. This actually made Dawn feel quite sad. How dare these children, because only people who decided to play around in cemeteries are kids, disgrace the last resting space for so many people. A place of contemplation, remembering, and silent celebration of those who had gone before. She knew that she would be livid if she had found out that someone was using her grandparents' graves in the same fashion. Something Dawn made painfully clear to those hooligans in her class… They called her uptight and other inappropriate names but remained relatively quiet in front of her after that.

But it did make her curious as to what nonsense, and possible damage, people have been doing in the historic cemetery so it hadn’t taken much persuasion when Willow, a different classmate, mentioned going there for a project. Dawn wanted to see about researching some of the names found, maybe find out some history that she could present for the project, it also wouldn’t hurt to show some respect to those that rested there. Especially if those boys had actually been jerks like they were alluding to.

So that night, with her backpack in tow, full of small odds and ends she might need, and a basket covered with a cloth, the strawberry blonde made her way towards the spot right by the cemetery where she was to meet Willow. She waved as she got close, spotting the other young woman waiting right where she said she would. “I hope you weren’t waiting long,” She said quietly as she came to a stop next to her classmate, blue eyes practically sparkling as she took in their surroundings.

If you're interested in finishing this.

Willow grinned as Dawn approached. "Ah I wasn't waiting long at all!" Even if she had she'd been busy taking care to check off that she had everything.

The pod casts and other things she'd been working on she sighed, "You think those boys in our class were really serious about pranks and causing trouble down here?" She asked looking towards Dawn, she'd hate to have to run them off as a 'terrorist' in her spare time but if it'd keep the boys from causing issues she'd do what she'd need to.

She grinned though as she turned her attention to the entrance, "Well, lets not dwell on the troubles; thank you for agreeing to the project down here. I'm sure we'll find a lot of interesting things down here! I even brought some equipment to record the names of the people we find her so it's easier to do research!."

Willow headed towards the entrance which was guard free, they had a little time while the guards were on break so she wasn't in too big of a hurry it took about five or ten minutes for their replacements so it'd be an easy stroll in.

Dawn was glad that her friend hadn’t in fact been waiting all that long at all. Her cheer at that fact faded some when Willow mentioned the boys, with a frown and a huff the young woman could only shrug. “I really hope not. Harmless pranks are one thing but interfering with someone’s eternal rest,” She trailed off with a shake of her head. She really didn’t understand males sometimes. Her mind just continued to go in a circle, revolving around just how wrong it was to play around in a cemetery, when Willow redirected her thoughts.

Taking a cleansing breath the strawberry blonde focused on the here and now, on her friend, and the task at hand. “Oh I’m glad to help! I’ve also brought some cleaning supplies and a few flowers and the like. I feel like it's only fair to try to tidy up some, like in trade for us disrupting the cemetery.” It wasn’t a lot, nor was it going to be overly detailed, but she could at least pluck some weeds and brush off any dirt. It was the least she could do to show respect.

“So are we just writing down the names or trying to take pictures and rubbings as well?” This actually wasn’t the first time she had visited an old cemetery. Her childhood troop once took a trip to an old civil war cemetery where they did charcoal rubbings of some of the grave markers, as well as helped clean up some. She wasn’t really expecting this trip to be much different. It being after dark was a bit strange but between classwork, homework, and work… work, this little adventure being after normal hours did make sense. In a bit of a logically backwards way kind of.

"I know, hopefully they just chill, I'd hate for something paranormal and dangerous attach itself to them because of causing trouble."

Willow shifted her gear and smiled as she walked, "Oh good, cleaning supplies and flowers are a good idea!" Though she wasn't sure about the offerings for disrupting the cemetery she was sure that if there were ghosts about they usually liked trinkets.

"I have a camera to document what we're doing, that way people can see the respectful way to operate in the area." Crossing the open area and getting down into the cemetery wasn't going to be difficult at all. Thankfully the other seemed interested in taking names and doing rubbings as well.

"We can do that, I'm sure it'd help with research of who's down there." She seemed interested in the idea, "Might tell us how they passed or if there's family around. Pictures also should help with research."

"I also brought some other equipment like a recorder it may help us hear if anything we can't see or hear normally is in there, sometimes if you're lucky you get disembodied noises." Willow added, "and while we're working we can explain what we're doing both to the camera and the voice recorder."

Word count is good for both of us ^_^ go ahead and close us out <3

“I would be tempted to leave them to their fates if they actually do cause any issues but honestly,” Dawn sighed even as she kept pace with Willow, “Those that rest here don’t deserve being disturbed so I guess I can only hope they don’t show up.” She also knew that she would feel obligated to at least put a stop to any problems those boys would cause, if only because she was there.

As they walked deeper and deeper into the cemetery area Willow outlined some plans, Dawn nodding along. She might not really believe in spirits and ghosts but she also did have a healthy sense of respect for the afterlife. That and magic was real so why couldn’t ghosts be real? “They all sound like really good ideas but we might need to split up some to get everything done before it gets too late. How about we take some rubbings and write down names before you go for some recordings and pictures while I clean a bit and see if any markers have anything special.” It was a good divide for their time and this way any recordings or pictures that Willow took would be completely free of any human interference from her muttering to herself, which she did sometimes do.

“I just hope that we can at least leave a little spot cleaner than when we got here.” She looked around at the shadowy space, feeling sadness grow within her. “No one deserves being forgotten.”

Willow chuckled, "Ah I suppose that would be kind of ironic."

She smiled as they continued and nodded when the suggestion was to split up. "Yeah splitting up would absolutely help with any time crunches. I would love to do some rubbings first though and maybe you could teach me something about cleaning the headstones at some point as well."

It was one of the few things, she hadn't learned. She wasn't investigating cemeteries much.

Willow nodded as the other spoke about leaving the spot a little cleaner, "Well if you find anything you think I should document let me know. I'll be happy to take pictures or video of something~!"

When they reached the bottom of the stairs Halley seemed to think, and looked around. "Lets go ahead and split up now, I have to set up the recording equipment anyways and that's a bit boring." She chuckled sheepishly, "Like I said if you find anything interesting let me know!"

With this she looked around, "This area looks like it needs less attention, I'll head this way so I'm not in your way as well." Willow hummed as she excused herself.

“Ok,” Dawn agreed with all of Willow's plans and nodded along. “Sure. I’m mostly just going to weed a bit and maybe wipe some of the stones down but other than that it's just making the area a bit more presentable.” She wasn’t an expert, far from it, but she was happy to show her friend what she was talking about.

That plan dimmed some when they got to the bottom of the stairs and Willow decided that splitting up first was a better idea. “Will do, I’ll set a half hour timer. I’ll call once it goes off if we haven’t met back up by then.” Dawn did just that. She pulled out her phone and set an alarm for thirty minutes. “Good luck,” With that she headed towards her own determined direction, already wondering just what she would encounter.
