After the Aishan trees had suddenly and furiously bloomed, pollen had started to fall from the sky in never before seen quantities. The sun seemed choked by its presence and the breeze currents seemed to carry it across all of Tendaji.
Curiously enough, the impact of the pollen could be seen in earthlings...
Random earthlings across Tendaji saw cracks and fissures in their skin, shedding as if they had a sunburn. New skin tones shone through from underneath. Almost as if by magic new eye colors and crystal colors emerged with a night's rest. Earthlings changed overnight without regard to their family lineage. Brothers and sisters now sported new colors; mothers and daughters that once looked like spitting images captured the eyes of many with their sudden differences.
What could be made of these changes? The world was in upset, some overjoyed and thrilled at the new colors, others in despair as their self views shifted beneath their feet.
[ Earthlings (and those with earthling blood) have started to suddenly change colors! What does your character make of the changes? Did they change too, or do they just witness the new looks of someone close? Are they fascinated in this sudden new change, or are they in the throws of woe? Let us know how your character handles the change in the world! ]

The day the pollen had filled the air, Nok’s family had gone into hiding. The whole group peered out from within their shelter with suspicion and concern. What was this stuff floating in the air now? They had never seen it before! Sure, it was reminiscent of flower pollen, but they had never seen it in such a vast amount! It made the mists seem even thicker than they usually were. Even hidden away though, the strange substance would float wherever it pleased. It wasn’t long until even inside the little shelter had a light dusting on everything.
Once it seemed it wasn’t actually hurting anyone, the family began to relax. Strange air or not, there was still work to do. After a multitude of warnings and precautions to take, the family finally left the shelter to continue on with their day. Nok had collected some of the pollen into a pouch to save for later inspection, but otherwise went on with his day as told.
The next morning, he woke to the sounds of his sisters shrieking. He leapt out of bed and braced himself defensively. “What?”
The twins Pris and Tris were bouncing around in front of each other, tugging on hair and picking at their skin. Their skin?! It was just.. Falling off?! The pair turned to their brother and flapped their arms with squawks of panic. “My skin’s fallin’ off!” “Our skin’s all weird!” “Her hair changed!” “What happened?”
Nok straightened up and pushed the hair from his face.. And his hand froze on the wavy locks. His hair.. Even in the faint morning light, he could tell it was different. “My hair’s darker.”
The twins took a moment from their worried flailing to peer at their big brother. Pris snorted lightly. “No it ain’t.” Tris echoed her sister’s snort of disbelief. “Don’t lie, Nok.”
He cocked his brow as he tried to gauge the twins’ reactions, but they seemed to be being honest. “You can’t tell?” Granted, it wasn’t a huge change.. but it was surely noticeable to his own family. They saw him every day!
Pris shook her head. “Looks the same to me. You?” Tris shook her head as well. “Looks same as always.” With that decided, they looked at each other and shrieked again. “Nok, what happened??”
Nok sighed and shook his head. His sisters could be so oblivious. That being said… He reached out to brush gently over Tris’ skin. It just flaked off to reveal a paler tone to match the now pale hair on her head. Actually, Pris looked to have experienced the same changes. He pushed the pair closer together and shook his head. “How come you both still look like each other?”
With a wide blink of their eyes, the girls looked at each other again. They held their arms up for inspection and held their hair together. All at once, both girls relaxed with unexpected relief. Their concern had simply been that they were no longer identical, but that wasn’t the case! They still looked the same! Well, the peeling skin had been concerning for all parties, but it seemed to not be a problem now either. They looked at their brother and piped up in unison. “We’re twins. Duh.”
Nok straightened up and scratched his jaw. It both made perfect sense and yet did not make any sense. “Where’re ma an’ da?”
The girls shrugged. “Dunno.” “I’m hungry.” “Me, too!” “Make food.” “I want eggs.” “Eggs an’ cheese!” “Yeah!”
Once the little beasts had their breakfast, Nok took a little for himself and went outside to eat. As the morning light strengthened, he took a closer look at his changed hair. It was utterly inexplicable! He scrubbed it with soap, trimmed off a few strands, scratched at more of it, and tried pulling a little from his scalp. All of it was this off color! Unless their parents were playing some elaborate joke on them, which was exceedingly unlikely, it seemed the colors were real.
By the time he had finished eating, Nok was no closer to figuring out what had happened. Both he and his sisters had experienced some sort of color change, and he was positively stumped. He did consider the strange pollen substance that had filled the air yesterday, but that made no sense either! How would it change the very makeup of their looks? His hair had darkened and his sisters looked like pale spirits. Why did they not all get either darker hair or paler hair? Why didn’t his skin change as well? Nok was filled with questions that he could not answer, and that bothered him more than the changes themselves. Perhaps that place full of books in town would have some answers? He would wait for his parents to get home first before going anywhere. If his sisters started changing again, he wanted to be there.
