Gavril yawned as he woke up from his nap. He had found himself unable to sleep the previous night until the sun was finally rising. He had been on edge and he wasn’t really sure why he had been. When he had said goodnight to his family and went to his bed to lay down, he had been tired and had every intention of sleeping. Yet, it seemed like he had barely slept when he awoke. His skin was itchy all over but he didn’t think too much of it. Sometimes his skin was sensitive when he got around certain smells. Someone had told him he was allergic to it or something? Gav didn’t quite understand. Still, after being awake all night he found himself falling asleep quickly once the sun had risen. The young man had never been one to sleep during the day yet he found it almost irresistible. Gavril stretched his arms and looked out the window to judge the time. “Okay good, I should still be able to make it to the market before that one stall closes!” He had planned to go and get his mom a gift since it looked like she had been a little stressed lately so he wanted to do something nice for her. It was still a toss up between some flowers in a new vase or maybe a new bread bowl since he might have knocked into the last one and caused it’s untimely demise…but that wasn’t the point. This wasn’t out of guilt at all! Totally just because he wanted to be nice. Yup. One hundred percent.
Who was he kidding, it was totally because he felt guilty. His mom had looked so upset when he had brought her the pieces of the bowl and has looked sad every time she’s made bread since then. It had taken Gavril awhile to save up the money but he finally had enough to get one that was almost just like it. It had taken him awhile to find the same craftsman and even then he hadn’t found the craftsman themself but rather their work being sold by a family member. When he approached them with his predicament, they told him to come back today and bring the pieces of the last bowl to see if they could fix it for him or at least be able to find one that was similar. So this was how he found himself leaving as quietly as he could from his own home with a small box that made little clinking noises if he didn’t walk carefully enough. When he finally made it there with the same amount of pieces as he had started with, Gav walked into the small building. “Hello! I’m back!” The shopkeeper came around the corner from the back and was wiping his hands on an apron as he greeted his customer. “Welcome in, sir. How can we help you today?” Gavril looked at him with confusion. Did he not remember him? “I was just in here yesterday and I was bringing you back something to try and fix for me.” The man looked at him with a very confused look on his face. “I did speak to a young man, was he your brother?” Gavril’s eyebrows furrowed. “No…it was me. I was the one that was in here. Don’t you remember me? Why are you acting like you haven’t ever seen me before?” The man looked him over. “You’re Gavril?” He asked hesitantly as if he was starting to recognize someone he had seen in a picture. “YES.” Gav said with annoyance. “Why don’t you recognize me?” He said with a huff. “Young man…you don’t look much like the boy that was in here yesterday. Here, take a look.” He held up a mirror to Gavril and the boy stepped forward. “What do you mea-...” His words died off as he took a look of himself in the mirror. His skin was lighter as was his hair. He looked….like his mom. His MOM! Was she okay? Did something happen to her too? Or Gajeel? Or his dad? Or Variel or Reina? He started to panic. “I HAVE TO GO.” He said. The box was forgotten on the counter as he raced out the door to get home as quickly as he could to make sure his family was okay. He had not felt any different after his nap but he had not seen any of his family members to know if they were okay either. He had to know. He had to figure out what had happened to him.
