The world was constantly changing. Odina grunted at the thought as she walked through the busy streets of Belrea once more. While most of her family was happy with the news, the young Vandrea was somewhat perturbed by it all. What did it mean for the new trees to suddenly mature and send pollen scattering everywhere like that? Well, she knew what it meant for the future of the Vandrea and Elidae but she didn’t understand why it had happened now out of all times. Shouldn’t it have waited a few more years if not decades? “Aisha’s daughters are impatient, just like some of us.” At least that was what she had to accept since it was fact now that the Vandrea could actually bloom hybrid children like the Alkidike before them with Aisha’s blessings. Strangely enough she had felt so bothered by the celebrations in Chiume that she had ventured onto a ship to Belrea for an impromptu shopping expedition, mainly in the blacksmithy where she picked up a new training staff and decided to swing it around for a bit. Of course, doing such a thing in the middle of the busy streets was not ideal and so Odina had found herself a little private clearing in the nearby park where she could practice with the staff instead of her normal weapons since a battle axe surely would have caused the little earthlings to run away in a panic. Not that they weren’t already panicking considering the commotion she was hearing about their crystals changing color? Odina frowned at the thought before smacking an old tree stump once more, the Vandrea leaning against another tree to take a moment as she listened to the chatter and panic of an early morning where so many earthlings had woken up to new appearances.

Willow could hear the various reactions to the color changes around her, but she'd stopped paying attention a while ago. After all, her morning had been filled with panicked clients cramming themselves into her father's little office seeking answers. She had been worried at first when she'd woken up to find her hair and eyes had changed... but seeing everyone else had forced her to calm down. Her father hadn't been able to find a single thing wrong with any of the clients or her... It was the relief of being released from the chaos of the clinic as well as the concern about her own situation that gave her a more positive spirit as she sought out some friends of hers. Had they changed as well? She chose to cut through one of the parks, where she spotted a Vandrea standing around alone. Without realizing it, she slowed down and cocked her head. She had seen nothing of panicking Vandrea... "Excuse me. If you don't mind me asking, have you and yours experienced any of these changes going around?" [quote="Sabra Kniuote]

Odina wiped the sweat from her brow, taking a moment to enjoy a fresh breeze before finding the calm of her meadow interrupted. Not that it was unexpected, considering she was in the middle of a city, but at the same time it didn't stop her from huffing. "Have what?" She replied, her bright yellow gaze narrowing at the earthling. Was she trying to accuse her of something or how did she even know what changes their tree had endured recently? Was there someone already spreading tales about Chiume in Belrea? If so then Odina was going to make certain to pummel them for spreading Aishan secrets around!
"Explain yourself, earthling." Odina twisted the staff and held it out towards the Geian with a frown. "What does that question mean? What changes?" Did she truly know about the maturity of the tree? Was she here to mock the fact that even Vandrea could produce hybrids now?! Not that she should be terribly upset, but still there was a bit of hurt pride considering how many thought that they were a fresh start from Chibale while it turned out they were simply following in Aisha's roots. Earthlings were alright, but Odina didn't know how she felt about their blood mingling with Vandrea...not when they wanted to be as strong as possible.

Oh. Perhaps she had been a little forward in just approaching the Aishan without prompting or warning... Willow pulled her head back as the staff was pointed at her and she raised her hands innocently. "I will take that as a 'no,' then..." She looked back up at the tall woman and gave her her most disarming smile and took on a more professional tone. "My apologies for being so brash. I'm referring to the changes in colors that everyone is talking about around here." She reached up to give her voluminous locks a tug. "You see, my hair and eyes both had a bluer hue when I went to bed last night. I did not dye them myself, either. I hear a lot of other earthlings woke up to similar surprises."

"Mmhm." Odina's fingers tightened on the training staff, her gaze narrowing even more at the smile. Was she challenging her? Was that confidence because she knew something or wanted a fight? Though the earthling seemed frail, not carrying a weapon either, which made Odina wary. Was she one of those magic slingers then? Some of those mages could look as frail as glass before destroying someone....Odina hate that so much and it definitely made her cautious around earthlings who she could never fully understand. Despite the earthling's apology and the shift in tone, Odina did not lower her guard. The fact that she had approached a Vandrea warrior without even hesitating at first...it made it feel almost like an interrogation of sorts. So what if their great tree had released pollen as a sign of maturity? It wasn't as if the Aishans could control it or even expect such changes to earthlings!
"Can earthlings just not change colors over time? Do you have any reasoning for this....shift from being blue?" Odina asked with a frown trying to test out the earthling's knowledge without giving away things so quickly, her staff lowering slightly even though she kept a defensive stance as she tried to feign ignorance. "Why expect Aishans to suffer from something like color changes? We were made perfectly so I doubt our trees would ever change us at random."

Willow pursed her lips and shook her head. "We have dyes that we can used to temporarily change our hair, and tattoo ink can change parts of our skin. To have our natural colors suddenly change is unheard of! You should have seen the flood of patients at the clinic trying to make sure they were okay after waking up to different eye colors this morning!" Despite Odina's abrasive reactions, Willow just chuckled and shook her head. "I wasn't expecting anything. I was curious because I didn't know. You have made it abundantly clear that you and yours remain unaffected." She couldn't help a playful fluff of her hair. "Of course, changing isn't all bad. It was a shock, but I will admit to being pleased with the look. I think it suits me well."

She knew something about those strange habits, not seeing many sisters who dyed their hair or tattoo'd their bodies since they already had markings naturally. Some did use war paint, but nothing permanent that she could think of at least. "I see." Her staff relaxed a bit more, the Vandrea pondering the flood of information. Earthlings changed themselves a lot, didn't they? Then again she couldn't blame them. Maybe it was simply attempts to try to make up for the fact that they felt like they were missing something, the misfortune of not being born Aishan.
Apparently this earthling though wasn't terribly disappointed with the changes, her actions throwing Odina off guard. "You earthlings really do enjoy altering your appearances, don't you? Are you certain it's not something one of your mages came up with?" She questioned before studying the geian with her pale golden gaze. "I suppose...it's not a bad color for an earthling to have." Obviously green was always a superior choice, the colors brighter than what Odina was accustomed to seeing but not terrible.

Willow leaned slightly and shook her head in an intrigued manner. "Honestly? I am not certain of anything. If it was the mages, they would have to be very powerful to create any spell that could alter so many of us." She couldn't help a huff of annoyance. "If it was mages... it was certainly rude of them to cast this without asking for consent first!" Her eyes rose with surprise at the subtle compliment, and a soft smile quickly followed. "I appreciate that." She really did! It was one thing for a loved one to approve of her new look, but for someone like this vandrea to express it impressed her. "I don't know if I would have made the choice to change my look on my own, but considering the situation, I do like it." She touched a finger to her chin. "So it seems to be only earthlings affected by.. whatever this was. How odd."

Odina made a face, not wanting to accept that earthlings could be so powerful even though she had been the one to bring up mages in the first place. Magic was so annoying! This was why she much preferred punching things instead of studying tomes or whatever it was that they did. "It probably was something more natural then." She huffed finally, not acknowledging the silliness of her question even as she tossed the option of mages being behind this to the side as quickly as possible.
And what was up with that sudden smile?! Odina tensed, taking a step back before just nodding at the appreciation. All she had done was comment on the color change! It wasn't like she said anything special or the like, right? Sheesh. "I guess that's good that you like it at least." She mumbled after a moment, regaining her own stance as she got over the surprise from seeing a smile in her direction. That truly had been a first considering how many usually avoided her during these rare town visits! "Yeah. Earthlings tend to be more easily afflicted by things, right? What if this is some sort of sickness?" She wasn't actually trying to insult the girl, she just didn't know since she was under the impression that earthlings were weaker than Aishans. Aishans surely were too hearty to be afflicted by something as silly as a color change, not that she could imagine looking different from how she currently was. What would she even do if she woke up one day and was purple or something? Talk about a nightmare!

The finger at her chin tapped away contemplatively. "Something natural," she repeated idly. "I do hope someone can figure out what it was. As much fun as a good mystery can be, having it affecting me makes me just want the answers even more." Some mysteries just needed solving, in her opinion. The medical world was such a place where mysteries just didn't settle with her. It could have been anything. "I certainly hope not!" Willow pouted out her lips lightly. "So far, there has been some minor discomfort in many of those who were affected, but there doesn't seem to be any pain. My scalp and eyes itched a little, but that stopped not long after I woke up and bathed. It doesn't seem like any sort of illness."

"Mm." Odina nodded, agreeing with the natural though she wasn't quite certain about why the earthling would need to figure out the cause. They had changed and as long as no one was hurting from it then why not move on? She wasn't the type to linger on things for herself and taking time to research anything....well it was fairly annoying to just study all the time. Odina much preferred being active on the training field, not stuck behind books or the like. Though it seemed like this earthling was truly intrigued by it all. Perhaps Odina would have felt differently if it had affected her, but she was fairly certain she would have been more annoyed than anything else as long as it didn't affect her health. "What? Are you hoping to learn the cause and try to become a rainbow of colors?"
Still, she figured that even she could pick at something. "Surely there was something strange about the weather or something lately that could have done it. It's not like just one of you changed, after all." Almost like that huge cloud of pollen could have been behind it. Not that it was her business...even if it did originate from her own home, right?

Willow cocked her head slightly. A rainbow? She giggled and shook her head. "That is not my intent, no. I just.. I like knowing. It would be good to know just in case of future changes. We might be able to find a way to revert any unwanted changes, or we could harness it to make changes that we would like. I don't know how much I would use it, but it opens up a wealth of interesting possibilities." She tapped a finger to her lower lip gently as she thought over the past few days. "The only strange thing would be the amount of that pollen-like substance that was floating all over yesterday. I don't like to assume, but it's a logical connection to make. Some are saying the pollen came from distant trees, but I don't know for certain." She smiled lightly. "It was lovely though. Did you see it?"

She was giggling? Odina frowned more as she tried to find humor with her words. Had she said something so amusing? Either way the idea of harnessing anything that was from her mother tree made Odina nervous. Would earthlings be bold enough to try to invade their home to investigate their tree and her magical properties? Surely, not. It still made her bristle despite everything as she found herself feeling more wary, worried that she had made a mistake by interacting with the earthling and giving her indirect insight into the situation. The last thing she wanted to do was bring trouble to her home! "It may be best to just leave things as is." Odina eventually replied, her tone a bit grumpier than intended due to her concerns. "I've seen dyes being used before, if nothing else then that should suffice if you're playing around with colors."
Her cheeks flushed with shame at the connection, Odina raising her chin as if daring the earthling to question her more. "I didn't see it. Probably just some fluke that'll never happen again, who knows?" She managed before shifting her weapon and glancing around as if checking the sun's position for the current time. "As it is, I've wasted enough of my morning. I have errands to run." She glanced over the earthling once last time before simply nodding again. "Take care." And like that she was off, trying her best to steadily walk away instead of running in frustration now to avoid any further questioning from Willow for fear that she would say something about her mother tree. Not today! She would make sure to go straight home and avoid any other earthling interactions as soon as she got supplies, that was for certain!

Willow paused to reflect on the simple statement. "I suppose that's the thrill of it all; learning when to push forth and when to switch paths. Dyes are messy as a bucket of holes, but the itching all night wasn't exactly enjoyable either. Of course, one can't use dye on their eyes." If that power could be harnessed... well, it would have to be someone other than herself. Someone else would be making that call, no matter what she thought. "Indeed. Who knows?" She chuckled lightly and took a step back to allow the Aishan plenty of room to leave. "Thank you for the conversation!" she chirped out quickly. For being her first full conversation one on one with an Aishan, she felt like it had gone rather well! Of course, it wouldn't match up to spending time with old friends, and she hurried on to resume her mission to make sure those she cared for were alright.
