The Aftermath

After the Aishan trees had suddenly and furiously bloomed, pollen had started to fall from the sky in never before seen quantities. The sun seemed choked by its presence and the breeze currents seemed to carry it across all of Tendaji.
Curiously enough, the impact of the pollen could be seen in earthlings...
Random earthlings across Tendaji saw cracks and fissures in their skin, shedding as if they had a sunburn. New skin tones shone through from underneath. Almost as if by magic new eye colors and crystal colors emerged with a night's rest. Earthlings changed overnight without regard to their family lineage. Brothers and sisters now sported new colors; mothers and daughters that once looked like spitting images captured the eyes of many with their sudden differences.
What could be made of these changes? The world was in upset, some overjoyed and thrilled at the new colors, others in despair as their self views shifted beneath their feet.
[ Earthlings (and those with earthling blood) have started to suddenly change colors! What does your character make of the changes? Did they change too, or do they just witness the new looks of someone close? Are they fascinated in this sudden new change, or are they in the throws of woe? Let us know how your character handles the change in the world! ]
Color Change Instructions
|| Either at the very beginning of the WE or at the very end, the owner(s) should create a post dedicated to the new colors chosen if they choose to update their palette.
|| Owners do not have to change all of the character's colors, they can opt to change just one, a few, or all.
|| Owners should specifically post which new swatch they would like (no CC, this event is for owners who specifically want new colors for their characters).
|| Characters can only choose new swatches in the race that is already established. (A hybrid with fire skin can ONLY choose fire skin, just a new shade. A hybrid with leaf crystals can ONLY choose leaf crystals, etc.)
|| Aishan hybrids that have earthling colored skin can choose to update their skin tone and the staff will decide whether their fade needs to be updated as well (if applicable). We will pick the fade color best suited to the character, owners only have to pick the base skin tone.
|| ONLY earthling colors can be updated. Aishan and Kahikinan colors are not affected by this event.
|| All updates will be made during the next growth of the character!
|| Characters can update their swatches individually of their families (colors chosen will not affect any other character in the shop).
|| Any breeding moving forward will use these new colors (consider these new swatches new genetics).

[ Maizah 1 ]
Rumors had spread of a strange dusty cloud moving from Belrea, dancing on the gusts of the sea as it began to blanket the mainland. Maizah's mother had received a message from home, the scholars and researchers of the large island fascinated by the phenomena. She had to admit, she wasn't so keen to listen to her mother prattled about things, instead her eyes darting outside as the first puffs of pollen began to dust down on the trees. Curious, she wondered if this would impact their planned hunt, anxious to get out amongst the trees yet again.
So, she disregarded her mother's warnings and took off, ignoring the itchy pollen that caused her nose to scratch as she went off on her week-long trip.
It was only when she arrived back at home, a large bulk of hunting prizes, that the pollen began to fade away and chaos seemed to be spreading through the villagers.
Confused, and a big nervous, she nodded to the group before rushing toward her house, intent to get answers and ensure her family was alright.

Yonas had given up on any sort of hunting ages ago, and thus was left behind when his sister went off on her excursions. With them being older, it wasn't too much of a surprise that they forged their own paths, so to speak. Either way, he sensed the tension in the room as his sister rushed off to nature, and attempted to sooth things over by listening to his mother.
The pollen that rolled arrived just when another letter showed up, and his mother became concerned. Rumors were spreading of people getting strange reactions from the pollen back in Belrea, their skin cracking as if an unknown rash.
Yonas rushed outside to check on when the hunting party would return, dismayed to find they were out for a week. There wasn't a great way to send word for his sister, and so he reassured his mother by instead cleaning pollen and keeping it outside. Surely he wouldn't be impacted too much by the limited exposure, right?
As the pollen breezed by, the villagers began to notice the same symptoms, and Yonas concerned waited for his sister's return.

Arriving at the base of her home, she quickly climbed up and was relieved to catch sight of her brother. Rushing forward to give him a warm hug, she smiled at him before pulling back to inspect him quickly for any damage.
"The world has gone crazy." She stated simply, shaking her long hair and glancing about to see where her parents might be, "Have you been effected by this chaos?"

Yonas felt his skin itching a bit, and wondered if it was simply a by-effect of being around others who found their skin cracking. But when he saw his sister arrive the itching was forgotten, instead he too rushed forward and hugged her tightly.
"W-we're OK" He replied with a smile, stepping back and letting her inspect his arms and hair with a small smile. Behind him, he knew his mother was anxiously waiting for them both to come inside, especially once she would hear of the hunters return.
"A-are you o-k?" He added as he took his time to look over her. She seemed fine, if a bit travel worn.

"Good." She said simply, her gave fierce as she moved inside to greet their family. They had a good haul, and it was a nice distraction from the pollen that was still floating through the air. The tribe would continue to be well fed and healthy, all things considered. And yet, more and more of the tribe described strange symptoms. Their skin itching, their hair going brittle or their eyes watering to the point they were swollen.
Maizah too started to feel such things, and was curious if was a side effect of the pollen, like an allergy. It would take over a week before she realized exactly what was happening, and it all came from the startled cries of their neighbors that had the earliest symptoms.

Yonas stood outside, the cool breeze shooting the pollen away from their land as if it were never there. Even the leaves pushed off the dust, and it was a nice feeling to know it was past them. Yet as he too felt his symptoms take place, he was curious as to why his skin began to peel and his eyes got so watery.
Then, their neighbor cried out for the whole village to hear, and eventually see, the strange change. Her crystals had changed color, as had her eyes. Yonas began to grow nervous - was the same happening to him?

She had a suspicion that something was happening, but kept it quiet as she observed those around the village. It wasn't so obvious with her, considering her skin only lightened slightly. But her crystals, her eyes, and her hair together began to really show the changes.
How was this possible? She was used to warpaint, had the dust caused her hair to become dyed. But would that result in her crystals lightening or her eyes changing?
She kept calm, especially since Yonas seemed to suffer the most.
"Yonas, it's ok. You're ok. It's just cosmetic." She reassured as they sat outside in the clear air. The dust was gone, but the results remained.
"We could go and try to wash it off again?"

His stuttering had become more apparent as his nervousness grew. He simply nodded at his sister, knowing it was a lost cause. Since the dust, he joined many of the other villagers to attempt to wash it, and yet his skin lightened, his eyes paled, and his coloring overall changed to look more muted like the earth.
Maybe if he paused, he would have appreciated it more, but the stress of the change was enough to cause him to ignore such things.

They walked to the lake and rinsed off, the heat of the summer still lingering to cause the river to be a nice dip. Maizah noticed even more of her skin seemed to peel off to the new color, a light color that was slowly showing up despite the tan she had from constant hunting.
She'd need to reapply her markings, but that was the least of her worries.
She walked back with her brother, drying in the dying sun.
"You know, at least our coloring looks decent. Some of the villagers really look out of sorts..."

He rubbed off the skin, further lightening moreso than his sister's. Taking a big gulp of air, he dipped fully under the water and just sat there, letting his frustration and fear wash away before finishing their dip.
As they walked back, he sighed and took a long moment.
"I'm one of those v-villagers, Mai."

She leaned over and wrapped an arm around him, her smile soft and rare only for him.
"No, you look fine, Yonas. Your coloring is quite charming, and would blend well with this area. You'd make a great hunter. Everything is meant to be."

He sighed into her embrace, sniffing a moment as his hair fell into his eyes. Others did look quite funny, and at least his hybrid coloring seemed to blend well together still.
Some even complemented his new looks, which had caused a blush to cross his cheeks at the more flirtatious comments.
"Y-yeah, right. I'm no hunter." He said with a laugh, a rare new smile.

She laughed at the comment, knowing well that her brother was a builder, not a hunter. He would be just fine, he just needed to get used to such looks. She would need to do the same, her coloring a shift from her old look but still quite charming.
That and she knew how to cover up in mud if needed. It would all work out.

It would take a few weeks for him to finally get used to the coloring, and soon enough he would end up forgetting about his old coloring. It was a strange thought, especially with how dramatic it all felt today, but maybe it was indeed meant to be. As his sister said, it would all work out.
